They were available as soon as I needed them when I locked my keys out of my car. They were communicative and efficient. My only issue is when I asked for a quote on the phone after explaining where I was and what I needed they gave me a range of $74 to $94 which was fine, I needed them and that was in line with the $95 the other place quoted. The receipt specified $74 for the unlock and $20 for the on site call. They knew it would be an onsite call and exactly where I was in advance before I asked for the quote so giving me the range knowing full well it would be the full $94 seems like they were trying to make it sound cheaper than they knew it would be. Now I know how the pricing works for any future needs. I would call again. read more

My employees were locked out and I needed quick service. Yehuda also arrived prior to the timeline given. He saved the day for our many families here at Hippo Learning Station. Classic bait and switch. I sent in a Yelp request to copy a car key and got a fast reply with a price 10% less than others and available on short notice (this is the good part). However, when Alex the tech arrived he said the cost would be 70% higher, and acted like I was lying about the price I was quoted. I showed him our conversation on Yelp, and he said he wanted me to call the owner so he could hear the quote for himself, because he didn't believe me. I told him I wasn't comfortable with bait and switch tactics like that and it was his choice to either make the key at the agreed on rate or not, no big deal to me either way. He chose to leave, and I chatted one of the other more reputable locksmiths who had responded to my yelp request, and they came out and did the job for 10% more (fair price) but professionally and without any gimmicks. I like to give folks a chance to make things right before leaving a negative review so I chatted this story to the customer support rep on yelp, who did apologize but then proceeded to tell me it was my fault because copying a key is different than making a key from scratch (no idea what this means, since I already had a working key to copy from), and that there is a hidden extra charge for mobile service (not previously mentioned or charged by other locksmiths). I called 512 Locksmith and they had a technician call me back within 5 minutes and arrive to my house within 30. He got in the door no problem with no damage to the door itself. Gave me a starting point. $30 service call and $90 to unlock. show up and it's 30 plus 120 plus tax and credit card fee. i am a widow working 2 jobs to survive. pricing seems to be subject to their whims. would not use again. very disappointed. i don't like being taken advantage of. bad on me for not getting other quotes. read more

Very disappointing experience, honestly. My partner got locked out of our house because our electric lock died without warning. He called 512 locksmith and was quoted $100 initially to be let inside, which is a completely fair estimate. The locksmith got to the house and within 10 minutes realized that he couldn't get in the front door "because the key isn't used often enough" and said he'd have to drill it. My partner called me and I told him to have the locksmith enter from the back door. Why the locksmith didn't just ask about the back door to begin with, I don't know. They went to the back (which had a regular lock and a deadbolt) and got in without any issues. The locksmith was at our home for less than 30 minutes. He then charged my partner $350. He tried to justify by saying he had to charge additional labor for the time spent trying to get in the front door (that he failed to get into, mind you). I understand an increase in price because he had to open a deadbolt, but $350 to be let into your house is just egregious, especially considering that I had the locks changed on my entire house at one point for $250. $350 for 30 minutes of work? Completely outrageous. read more

My estimate was $35 through Yelp, but I didn't tell them it was a keypad lock, which I noticed was a higher price through other locksmiths.
