Filled out a quick form on the app and bam, just like that, sent a message to a handful of local locksmiths. Central Texas Locksmith got back to me with a very reasonable quote and they got to my place within 15 minutes. They were super patient and very friendly although my door was deadbolted and locked. The first time he helped us change multiple locks after a move-in, plus he adjusted a very crooked doorknob and put in a peephole at a height accessible for a wheelchair user. (I really appreciated that he asked me for my input and had me test the height before drilling. He never once commented on or asked about my disability, just treating me with friendly respect like any other customer.) He also tried to rework a smaller lock system for us with multiple trips to the hardware store and was honest with us about why it wouldn't be possible, with suggestions for what else to try that was beyond his scope. Though I suspect that was frustrating for him, he never got angry but stayed level-headed and kind. Weeks later he came by to fix a mistake I made in buying an extra key at the Minute Key at the hardware store. Though he'd given us plenty of good quality extra keys, I was tempted by the pretty design. I had even splurged on whatever extra pricey service the Minute Key offered to buff the edges of the key so it'd be "guaranteed" to work better. And what did it do? The very first time I put it in the lock, it got so stuck it wouldn't even turn! A family member experienced in these things tried graphite on it and it wouldn't budge, but I knew John would be able to help. He came out promptly, didn't give me a lecture or anything about using the Minute Key (I was already so embarrassed) and made sure I knew he could always provide me with good quality extra keys. After he got the bad key out, he did a good job explaining why the lock was technically useable but might be damaged and at risk for getting stuck again. He knew we're on a budget, so I appreciated having an affordable option with the risks explained, but in the end I decided to have him re-install a new deadbolt. He got the job done quickly and carefully at a very reasonable price. I feel safer with new locks in place and also safer knowing John is just a text or call away if I make another mistake (though I promise I've learned my lesson)! Thanks, John!

The technician then call my son he was on his way there but for the price of $80 + tax. When the technician arrived, he told my son the price would be $95+ tax or he wouldn't do it. My son had no choice since he trusted what John quoted $75+tax so we didn't call other companies and also he had waited for 25 minutes there. Integrity is the most important thing in business. John quoted a price of 75 plus tax, then told my child it was 80 plus tax, and when the technician arrived, he insisted on $95 or else he wouldn't do the job. That is a very bad way to do business!!

After getting some caffeine at a gas station I started calling every locksmith I could find. I think I called or texted 20 of them. While some answered but said they couldn't come out till 8am and others offered to come out for insane gouging prices 4x standard Austin locksmith rates I found this one which had a reasonable albeit emergency rate that I felt was not too far from normal day rate and more importantly could have someone here in less then 15 min. Needless to say I ordered. And in about 15 min I was shaking hands with a locksmith. Unfortunately he told me that my lock was very good and made to prevent lock picking - yes that's what I bought - that it would be faster to either try the garage or to drill the lock. He did all he could to open the garage but that didn't work so in the end it was a drill that opened my house. I think any locksmith would have had the same end result so but this one did it all in Under 30 min from my initial call. Would use again - hope I never have to! Thanks for great job.
