Today was a bad day...then I locked my keys in my trunk accidently at HEB, and went from bad to worse day. After having my hubby come rescue, and still not being able to pry my door open to release the trunk, we decided to call a locksmith. I looked around a bit and found ACL! I read reviews and decided to give it a shot. To my surprise the call was quick, pleasant, and painless. I got an immediate quote of $40 to help me unlock my car for me. I'm not sure if that is the quote for everyone, but I believe so. I did not need to rekey, just to open it. =) After a brief call they stated they'd be there in 20 mins, which it was! Very happy with ACL Locksmith! The key wouldn't turn in the ignition of my 2003 Honda Pilot. I did some research and found that the best thing you can do is call a good locksmith, because they can repair the ignition instead of replacing it. I called ACL and the locksmith came to my house right away... he had my ignition fixed in less than an hour, whew. I saved over $500 and couldn't be more relieved. After several years of working with ACL, we ran into a difficult situation together. He did a job for my company where the customer said he's scratched her locks and torn some paint. I tried to discuss with the owner on two occasions to call me to discuss and he wouldn't even consider that he could have caused the damage. He refused to return my call about it- saying he'd "worked the job into his busy schedule for me," which I guess implied my client and I should have just accepted the damage. He did charge my card $200 without calling me back- the agreed upon price, but I would have appreciated a call to discuss resolution of the damage he likely caused. I paid my customer to compensate for that damage. We've since found another locksmith we are happy with. I had good success with this company prior to this most recent experience. I gave 3 stars because, as I said, I did have good experience with him before. read more

This guy came out and made a key for my 2007 BMW 335i. The key function just fine for a few days, but it wasn't long after where I started to notice I had to press the unlock button about 20 times before it would actually work. At one point, I wrote the company and the guy who initially made my key advised me to just replace the battery. I went out and found the battery, they're pretty specific and not super easy to find. When I replace the battery, still nothing. I have videos of me just clicking the lock and unlock or even the trunk button and nothing happens. I wrote him again and explain that I didn't live in Texas, I was in California right now and he told me he couldn't do anything without the vehicle in front of him. I totally understand that you can't fix something you can't see, but if they key you made it doesn't work, I told him that I need him to either reimburse me for the cost of getting a new key made at here since the one I bought from him was only a couple weeks old. I also told him he could just refund me on the credit card that I used to pay, I gave him multiple options but didn't feel it was fair that I have a faulty key and I have to go pay another $350 to get a key made. It was when I suggested reimbursing me are refunding me for my key that he refused to return any of my communication at that point. I called my bank and explained the situation to them, and I sent them all the information that I had including the videos of the bad key and the texts from the owner and they found the evidence in my favor and refunded me on their end instead of having him do it. I eventually found out what the problem with the key was. Every single time I've tried to use it, I have to remove the backing and hold the battery in place and then press the unlock button or it doesn't work. It seems like the battery is either missing something, the key is missing something that holds the battery in place, or it's just a poorly made key. Either way, the battery moves around inside and only works if you open the back and hold it in place. Initially I was happy with the service but paying that much money for something that takes 20 minutes and then finding out later that the hardware is a piece of crap and they aren't going to do anything about it soured me on this company. I wouldn't use them in the future. And I almost forgot to mention that I had to contact him the next day as well because he unplugged the Bluetooth antenna under the drivers side. I had to pull everything apart myself and reconnect it. There were just too many problems and it sucks having a bad key. read more

I woke up this morning and immediately realized that my husband had left for the airport and my only set of car keys were inside my bag which was inside my locked car! Lost my key, have to get back home for Christmas. Call at 8 AM, doesn't arrive until 11. Makes a key that will start the car but won't open my door. Which is...useless since I have to lock my damn door. Takes an hour and a half to go back and get me a remote since I need to get in my car and then charges $260 for a half-working key and a remote. Knight in Shining Armor!! I lost my car keys, and my spare did not work because (i believe) it had to be reprogrammed or something like that. The locksmith came out and reprogrammed my key. No dice. So he cut me a new one. Still no luck. He (correctly) assumed that it was because I had taken apart the after-market alarm/remote starter that my fiance had put in the car (dumb, I know, but I was looking for the key that i KNOW is in there somewhere-it seemed like a good idea at the time). The locksmith stuck around and reassembled the whole system for me, trying different combinations of wires until the car finally started. He went above and beyond the call of duty. Since my car is an older model (2000) I didn't need re-programing or anything crazy so it was quick and easy. Not only did they get me back in my car (after having to pop the lock) they made me a spare for a really good rate. Locksmith was recommended by the Tow truck driver. Showed up quickly and programmed a key for my BMW, however the car would not start. He stayed and verified that according to his system the key was properly programmed, but diagnostic logs show that the immobilizer was activated by the new key. I kept him updated thru-out the week as my car was in the shop. I have the service records indicating that the issue was an invalid key. Got a working key from the dealership and notified him, but have not had success in getting refunded, even partially for a $280 non-working key. read more

By the time I had called the manager, my son had given the guy $60 cash and he had left...no receipt or contact information. I had a car key (unfortunately my only copy) break off in my door lock, The locksmith was able to come out when I called the next day to copy the broken key. The original key was too damaged to copy by whatever the conventional route may be, so he hand cut the key for me, it took about 30-45 minutes and cost me $69 on a Saturday morning. Called in around 12 something. He said he would be there in about an hour. I was in no rush. I didn't ask him to rush. Just wanted to know when I needed to have pants on. My bf called them a total of 3 times. The last time he said he was 15 minutes away. An hour after that last call... he finally showed up... at 8 PM. one hour means 8 I guess. I wouldn't have cared if he had said it wont be til 8. That is fine, my issue is that he said one hour and it was eight hours. On top of that he didn't ask for any ID or proof of ownership. My son lost his key to his truck and needed to get another one. The kicker is that the key has a check that starts the truck. Someone told him that he needed to get the car towed to the dealership to get another key made. I thought about a locksmith being open to open doors and make keys so typed in locksmith in Austin,Tx. I called the first locksmith on the list which was ACL Locksmith. Adrian answer the phone and I explain to him what happen and ask him was he able to make another key to start the truck since this one had a chip program in it. He said yes and met us were the truck was parked since my son parked his car in a parking lot and rode with a friend somewhere else. Just so happen we had a key that only open the truck and he was able to make a copy of that key and then program the other key that he made to start the truck. I found that ACL was reasonable price to replace the key and it took no time at all to program the key and start the truck. After I got home I did call another locksmith to see if they were able to program a key for the make and model of the truck and they could not so we made a good choice with ACL.
