They said they would be out the next day, we waited, he was a no show, We had to call again several times & finally a man came out a few days later saying he had to get his boss to fix it.. long story short, after calling again & again, another man was on his way, didn't speak English & messaged us saying it would cost $800!! Exemplary customer service! I came in at about 4:30 on a Friday needing a new car remote. It turned out to be a tricky job -- I'll spare you the details. I had to get a car backup key blank cut, and they were methodical and quick to get it cut. It was a bit expensive ($50) since I already had the blank, but maybe that's what key cutting goes for nowadays. It was disappointing when I came home to test the key that it didn't work in the lock, but I should've brought that car with me so they could test. It was no problem however, as they fixed it with a quick filing the next day. read more

I called ahead of time because I was unsure if they could help me. We had accidentally locked the key in our cash drawer. It's an old drawer but sturdy. He said to go ahead and bring it by and he would see what he could do. The person who helped me was super polite and immediately stopped to help me when we came in. He spent a few minutes getting the drawer open and then after we got the key out, he made me a spare. The total cost was well under my expectations and the service was above and beyond. Called about changing the locks on condo. Explained the entire situation and asked if they could perform the service. The gentleman explained he was not really paying attention can I repeat. I explained my disappointment with his response but repeated the entire thing. Afterwards he states that they "do this type of service but if I didn't want it that was fine with him". I closed on a house about a week and a half ago, and it just dawned on me earlier today that I needed to get my locks keyed differently. Seriously...I don't know my neighbors yet. They could be axe murderers with a key to my house, and I'm not all that well trained with a machete. So anyway I called over -- on a Sunday -- to Anderson Mill Lock & Key, expecting to get a recording where I could express interest. Instead, I got one of the owners: Pat. I'm ecstatic that he was able to come out same day to fix me up. Pat started off pretty quiet, talking about locks (which I don't know or care to know about) and what differentiates his company from the competition. I learned that there are over 3,000 locksmiths in the Austin area and that a very high percentage of them are run by a shady company based out of Phoenix, AZ. Off that topic: Pat came out of his shell after a while and mentioned having been a drummer for a band "Rocksmith" which won him huge points in my book. The downside is that most (if not all) of those personal points were lost when he mentioned really liking the band Nickelback. Sad day. I booked a deadbolt to be installed for a Thurs. At 415p I hadn't heard from anyone so I called the store and they said I was next on the list. I never heard from anyone and no one showed up. At 745p that night I left a voicemail about it on their answering machine. No one called me back. At 4p the next day I called the store again and the person who answered didn't care AT ALL. No apology. Just said the guy must have been delayed. I said my appt was more than 24 hours ago, no one has reached out, and no one bothered to return my VM so I asked them to have a manager call me. Of course no one did and no one ever reached out about the install I had scheduled two days ago. Had I known they were not able to get this done I would've scheduled with someone else. Unlike many other locksmiths/key locations in the area, this place is open on Saturdays. Definitely convenient for the working masses. I had trouble with duplicate keys I had made at Home Depot, Lowes, and a couple of other places. While these other places refunded my money, what I needed was keys that actually worked. My usual go-to Locksmith was only open 9-5 M-F, definitely not convenient. So I found this place online, checked their hours, and got my keys made. And the best part of course, is that they worked. They are pricier than the big box stores, but the keys work; more important than price. read more

I went to the store with 4 locks to be rekeys. When I called they said they will take 5 mins per lock. When I reached the store they said 20-25 mins for all the 4 locks. I waited for 1.5 hours. Eventually left with 2 locks rekeyed in very poor quality keys. After 3 days and multiple calls later I was given 2 locks in parts. They broke the lock and did not even care. I tried talk to the owner and I am told that owner comes once a week and they are not allowed to call him. I requested call back which never happened. Very bad service. I would not recommend to anyone. read more

Contacted Anderson Mill Lock & Key after we locked ourselves out of our house. They were quick to arrive, but the technician was not able to get the door unlocked (even after leaving us with a banged up door handle from trying to pry it open). The technician informed us another locksmith from the company was able to come out and drill the lock to let us in, and he left. We waited 1 hour, attempted to contact the office, and never heard back from anyone. read more

Maybe it's just me, but I'm all over supporting small, local, businesses. Including where I go to get my keys made! This guy has a plethora of locks and keys, he's fast, and he's reasonably priced. I needed a key made for a new restaurant, so I came by. The guy was nice, and after I gave him my key, he had a new one for me in under 5 minutes! It was a "do not duplicate," so I had to fill out some tracking paperwork, but that's normal. I highly recommend him for getting your lock and key needs! Wasted my time! After many conversations and a visit to our home one of the owners stated that instillation of a deadbolt would cost not $60 but $125. I debated on going with this company but since we had already invested so much time I decided to go ahead and pay the price of $125. Then when he showed up to do the job, decided he didn't want to put it up in a higher location because it's "too difficult" and said he is passing on the job. Absolutely ridiculous. I could of already had them installed by now and we have a new house with a pool and small kids that causes a safety issue by the delay. It's not that the guy wasn't nice but just wishy washy, indecisive, and unclear. When you ask him why it's difficult he literally can't really explain other than it's up high. Well I thought that's why I'm paying $125 instead of $60. Such and weird and annoying experience. read more
