TLDR: Jon is awesome. He's knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, communicative, professional, honest, and easy to talk to. Don't hesitate to hire. Jon did a great job installing our new smart lock. If you're in the same boat, I recommend doing your own research and choosing a smart lock that works for you before getting a quote (it will depend on the complexity of the lock). Additionally, when rekeying our other locks to match, he noticed some problems with our deadbolts that he also fixed on the spot. When I first reached out to him, I did feel like his prices were a bit higher than some other quotes I obtained. Still, something told me to go with him (and support a local business as well). After he finished the job, his prices made way more sense. He leaves a large window for each customer in case there are unforeseen issues or he finds problems that he could fix on the spot (this is common since locks wear out over time). An immediate fix is definitely preferred since each service call costs a substantial amount. So it does seem like he factors in additional time for each visit so that he's able to problem solve and fix as much as necessary. This was really helpful since like I mentioned before, our other deadbolts were not closing all the way. In addition to a job well done, Jon seemed like a genuinely good dude and my husband and I enjoyed talking to him. Quote was the price. No added charges or attempts to add service. Professional, courteous, and communicated as to time of arrival, length of time to do. Trustworthy. Of all the quotes I received, he was in the middle. Most really low bidders are a scam. Won't take advantage of your elderly parents or those who might be easily misled. I forgot to have him rekey one door. He came next day and done in five minutes. I have recommended him to my church community. He is now in my trusted list of service providers. I now have a locksmith who does installs, rekeys, vehicle lockouts, etc. Adding him to my appliance repair guy, my plumber, and my electrician. Worth every penny. read more

I had a huge issue with my iron doors. The previous locksmith totally messed up the parts. The door was stuck and would not open. Jon really went out of the way to try to remedy the situation. Jon stands behind is work. Our builder-installed Schlage digital lock has had problems since we closed in 2019. He replaced it under warranty in May 2023. Unfortunately, that particular model had known problem, and they stopped selling it in late 2023. Ours failed again, but Schlage refused to honor the warranty when I called. I resigned myself to buying a new lock and called Jon. He called the company and they shipped a new model lock to replace it under warranty. He can out today--a Sunday afternoon--to install it. Couple nights ago, one of the door locks broke and the door was stuck/locked shut. Called Jon's Locksmith and he promptly walked me through identifying some of the parts, and about 30 minutes later showed up to open the door for us. One of the parts were missing, and needed a couple days to be delivered, so he was kind to explain exactly how to install the new part once we received it, and now with the part delivered, it took me a couple minutes to get it installed, saving us from having to call him for another trip and paying him for that trip. Jon was great!!! He came right out today when I called!!! He re-keyed my locks following a robbery when thieves took my purse with a house key and drivers license with my address!!! Can I give 10-stars? Jon came out to the house within an hour on a Saturday afternoon (busy Christmas weekend!) and got us back in lickety-split! His pricing was really reasonable, too. I understand that some locksmiths charge extra for Saturday service, but that doesn't appear to be the case with Jon; he gave me pricing up front and a detailed receipt afterwards, definitely no price gouging. I appreciated his professionalism, friendliness, and courtesy. He also did not leave a mess. Bonus: Jon made a bunch of extra keys for us on the spot. In the past, I've been handed a key and told to go to Home Depot or somesuch to get extras made. Jon's pricing for extra keys was less than Home Depot and saved us an extra headache. Jon's Locksmith was on a "10 Best Locksmiths in Georgetown" list here on Yelp--good ol' Yelp! I've had good luck with these Yelp lists, by the way. Easter Sunday. 11pm or so. I let my dog out for one last potty, then was looking over the fence at a huge trash panda when the wind blew my side door in - and locked. Oh. Em. GEE.
