My family and I have been here on a couple occasions... and we absolutely LOVE IT! The food is fresh, not the usual heavy American breakfast. The pancakes are delicious and the Benedict's are perfect! Being Australian, it's hard to find the home comforts like a good Benedict and this place delivers. The espresso coffee is fantastic and there is an all round amazing atmosphere and staff that are friendly and accommodating. This is now my family Sunday brunch go to spot! read more

I've been here for business meetings as well as just to hang out with friends. The atmosphere is great and love this new location. The drive thru window is an amazing added bonus for on the go drinks. BUT...every time I've ordered tacos they've come out wrong. I don't eat bacon, they've put it in my tacos on two occasions. They also added beans when I didn't ask for them. I'll still probably come back, but just avoid the tacos and opt for their other yummy options. read more

We went here for breakfast on Easter. The food was terrific (avocado toast is a real treat!), the service was great. MAJOR FRUSTRATION: the only thing that was objectionable, and it's a big objection - is the floor plan. The seating area is one big room - no booths, no out-of-the-way seating and NO privacy. On the day we went, there were several crying babies - with this floor plan, the baby might as well be sitting in your lap, that's how much the sound travels. We were in a mood to dawdle over coffee and keep talking - and just the screaming baby # 3 started up and we left. We strongly suggest you creat some sound barriers - some booths, maybe a separate room or section for family's. Natural sound barriers! read more

Yup 5 stars all the way! I've been here many times since they opened up their new location on Manchaca, and I love the new look. Sweet staff, great coffee, good mimosa deal, and some vegan options. The worst drive thru coffee place I ever had at a coffee shop. She sounded like a robot when she took my order. I am also in the service industry. Never treated a customer like a robot. They did not ask if i wanted coffee in my sons frappe. She did not ask if i wanted added cream or sugar to my iced coffee. Asked for a choc chop cookie as well. No cookie at window. As she did not charge me Granted first time to Austin Java. I told her it was my 1st visit. Always went to Starbucks or nearby coffee shop. I had to park go inside and at was slow day at 1:00 pm. She redid my frappee but told me we do not add unless stated. Still no cookie as she never ranged it up. She was just rude. Never go back to them again. read more

If you have wide hips and fat ass like I do you will not be comfortable in their chairs (size 16 if you ladies are curious). I have to squeeze my thighs into a weird space between the seat and the armrest. Maybe I should stop eating their delicious breakfast quesadilla so often and I could be more comfortable in the chairs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Solid food, great service, reasonable prices, just hoping for better chairs in the future. This is now my favorite "go to" place for coffee, snacks, burgers, meals and relaxation. Been there six times since they opened in late 2018. Each visit, we have been warmly greeted, seated, and served. The staff is attentive and works as a team. Good is excellent. Bottomless coffee isn't cheap, but with the amount I drink, the price is fair. The soups are tasty. Tacos are good. The happy hour sliders - a sampler of three- are generous. Chairs are comfortable. Restrooms - there are five- each have a locking door and have been immaculate and are open to all genders. There is a covered outside patio. A winner should become a neighborhood mainstay. read more

Like the other review said, glad it's in the neighborhood but they could work on things a little. Also not super fond of the look. I like a funkier vibe and this is just too boring and like everything else. But, like I said, I'm glad it's in the neighborhood. Better than an empty building for sure. read more

I enjoy thos place. The food is quality and the drinks are great but I took a friend here and they messed up his fried egg. I also get breakfast to go here a lot and there is never salt and pepper for my eggs ( I need pepper on my eggs to find happiness ) and no butter or jelly for my buscuits or english muffins. I've had a bad experience 3 out of 4 times at this location. 1st visit: I dined in and it was wonderful, the food was good the service was great and I immediately found my new coffee place. 2nd visit: Went through the drive-thru. I put in half my drink order then tried to order food. I didn't realize you can only order drinks in the drive-thru. That was my fault. I told the person taking my order, I'll just order inside. But she still tried to take the rest of my drink order...idk if it's just me but it doesn't make sense to order half inside half outside. That wasn't that bad, it just kind of irritated me. 3rd visit: Drive-thru again. This time only drinks. 5 different drinks. I placed part of my order waited about 5 minutes to place another part and another 3-4 minutes to finish my order. The whole process took about 15-20 minutes, super slow service. Years later when I finally get to the window she hands me 2 drinks, nothing was labeled. When she handed me the 3rd drink she said it was the same as the 2nd drink which it shouldn't have been because all 5 were different. She sees my cup holders were full, my hands were full and I still had to ask for a drink carrier and I had to label my own drinks. Kind of ridiculous. 4th visit. From trial and error I decided to order online because in all honesty their white chocolate macadamia nut coffee is bomb! The host went to the back, grabbed my food and I waited at the bar for my coffee. A group of kids came in ordered and left before I got my coffee. A girl came next to me and they took her order all while I'm just standing there with my bag of food just waiting. I had to get their attention and ask for my coffee to be made. When I did, they acted like it was no big deal, didn't apologize for forgetting, nothing. I placed my order to be done at 8:45, it was about 8:49 when that started my coffee. So upsetting/disappointing from a place I like very much. read more

Went to Austin Java earlier today to get some work done and they took care of my bill for no reason at all! Definitely caught me off guard, at first I thought some hottie had picked up my tab but turns out that the manager occasionally likes to take care of guests' tabs every once in a while, they didn't even let me pay for something small to leave a tip! They had some awesome happy hour specials today (Monday), first off it's $2 off starters from 3 to close so I would've paid just $4 for a pretty big serving of queso and chips, next time I'll probably try the hummus or the Brussels sprouts, both of which would have been really cheap during hh; it was also $1 off draft beers AND Mondays is service industry day so from 3 to close they're offering either a lone star and a shot of whiskey or a dos x and a shot of tequila for $6! Glad they take care of others in the service industry, I'll definitely be back. read more

I attend ACC right across the street from Austin Java. My first visit was out of curiosity as well as desperation for caffeine! I haven't looked back since and I come here at least once a week between classes. They have plenty of plugins for your laptops and such. The manager is so sweet! I almost always eat the traditional breakfast or club sandwich when I come here depending on the time of day. The breakfast burger is amazing if you really have an appetite! Love the coffee and they even have a bar if that's your kinda thing! They make the best and freshest smoothies I've ever tasted! I love this place and I'm so glad they moved next door to ACC! read more

Perhaps it was the Memorial day rush, but I would strongly recommend you have a free schedule if you decide to dine here or accept an order from here. The wife and I love to go out on Saturday mornings for a quiet and good breakfast. This is not the place to go for that kind of atmosphere. The room was so loud from talking patrons but that was even over whelmed by the loud, music, We could not hear each other talking across the table. The pancake my wife ordered was nothing special for the price - just an every day pancake. The breakfast taco I ordered tasted great but was so small I thought it might be from a yankee state. Seriously, the tortilla was not the normal breakfast taco size. The pico de gayo was really good however. Coffee refills that you expect from restaurant serving breakfast was extremely lacking - one refill when we were almost finished. BTW, we visited the restaurant on Manchaca. The staff was super friendly and I wanted to acknowledge that. For our money, I think we will stay with Kerby Lane. read more

All the waitress came out from the back and one of them said they would help. Got the coffee and they never brought our pastries and then she "just swore she saw us eating them". Came here on a Saturday around 4:30pm. It was fairly slow, and we were asked to seat ourself. Didn't see a server for about 10 minutes. He then ordered a loaded quest, which way too long. But we're brought the trio on accident. The server took it back to the kitchen to get us the queso and started screaming in the kitchen "there's MF ordered this I know it but they want a F'in loaded queso" she continued to yell about us with other workers in the kitchen which we could hear crystal clear. We were sitting close to the kitchen. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior. My boyfriend and I both waited tables at Texas Roadhouse for several years and know mistakes happen and how to deal with them. But I've never been so disgusted with how unprofessional the staff was this day. We even told another guy and left. Not sure if we will ever return and we really liked this place our previous visits. read more

I am so excited to have Austin Java in our neighborhood - the food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is very high quality, especially for the price. I would say that this is much more of a restaurant than it is a coffee shop. Love the location and happy that it opened right next to my neighborhood. That being said, unfortunately for me, being in a convenient location does not cut it for me. Ordered from here twice. The first time, it took them 6 minutes to take my order through the drive thru. Took another 5 minutes to give me my coffee. Gave it another chance the second time and went into the shop this time. All I asked for was a medium black coffee to go. They burnt the coffee this time and also seemed confused on what "to go" means. Also didn't have any medium to-go cups or didn't know where they were located so they poured it in a large cup for me. Hard for me to understand how difficult pouring a black coffee is. Anyway, 3 stars for the convenience, but likely going to try Quack's when it opens up next door. read more

The coffee is good. The service is great every time, the staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is very mediocre - it's passable but nothing special. It seems more like heated up frozen and canned ingredients than anything freshly made. The food comes out lukewarm or with obvious cold spots. The atmosphere is an odd combination of hipster and sports bar. There are way too many TVs, it's almost impossible to find a seat without one in your line of sight. The couches are much appreciated, though. If you're just going for company and coffee it's probably a good coffee shop, but skip the food. read more
