We've walked by this place a few times and mentioned we would like to try it sometime and finally had the opportunity to step inside! They have a nice outdoor seating area leading into their dining room. Simple, elegant yet casual and inviting. We were seated and given water right away along with a warm greeting - great start. The menu was a very simple and easily to follow brunch menu. No specialty dishes - just good ol' fashion brunch items along with some seafood options. We decided to go with the smoke salmon tartine, quiche florentine, and the fisherman's mussels. Rarely do I come to a restaurant where every dish we order were all 5/5's. They took common dishes and just simply made them better. Starting with the smoked salmon tartine - the bread was fresh with the perfect crunch and softness. The salmon had a great bite, cream cheese was gooey, and each bite had a nice tang that made everything flow together. The quiche was packed with spinach and the Gruyère was absolutely delicious. The star of the stars was the mussels. It came with a generous amount and was sitting in the most amazing garlic white wine broth. I recommend using each mussel to scoop the broth to eat each mussel. You can also enjoy the toasted bread to dip into the sauce too. My wife and I ended up scooping out the remaining broth, it was that tasty! Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Indoor and outdoor seating. 4 stars only because of the high prices and small portions. Their coffee is fantastic. It comes from their coffee shop so you can order any espresso drink you like. I ordered an americano. I ordered the Augustine breakfast. Poached eggs with sausage (sub the bacon), potatoes, and a TINY piece of toast. The potato rosti's were so good and were my favorite on the plate. We had a chance to try Augustine recently with same day reservations. They have lovely patio seating (with heat lamps), along with swanky chic indoor in seating, and bar seating at their picturesque shiny bar. Our server was amazing- super sweet, gave me great wine and dish recommendations, and was attentive and friendly. I didn't catch her name but she's in the background of my crab donuts photo if someone can give her a raise :) I'm a red wine lover, and enjoyed the glass of bordeux and sangiovese. We started with the Crab Donuts, which seemed intriguing, and it was a creamy dollup of crab on top fluffy slightly savory donut holes. The Snap Pea and Asparagus salad was well worth a try as well. Loved all the different textures of the fresh snap peas, chopped asparagus, leafy greens, and hard boiled eggs. Perfect light but tangy dressing. Plenty of land and sea and vegetarian 'New American' style entrees. We shared the Mussels which was a generous portion, with artisanal sourdough to dip in the broth. Also had the Burger, which was pretty plain, I would pass on this for something else. Entrees are surprisingly reasonably price for being the new hip restaurant on the Row, running about $15-35 for most dishes. I'm more of a pescaratian though and the branzino was one of the pricier dishes at 49 Great spot for a celebration, hanging out with friends, or for a date. The interior is beautifully decorated, providing a chic and elegant ambiance. Reservation Augustine uses OpenTable for reservations. I made one for a Sunday brunch/lunch around 12:45 PM for three people. Service Hostess was friendly. I checked in for my reservation and seated quickly. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and recommended plates for us to try. The tartar sauce served with the prawns lacked the bold punch that comes from relish or dill pickle. The oysters were delicious, but there were too many herb crumbs for my liking. Augustine is a very cute and fresh restaurant in Santana Row. They have a very nice outdoor seating and an intimate indoor setting. I have come here twice now and really enjoyed the caviar and chips. It's a great value if you want to treat yourself without breaking the bank. The pasta was delicious and a huge portion. The lemon drop and expresso martini is something I wouldn't skip. For dessert do NOT skip the chocolate chip cookie!! I am in love with this cookie. I will come back just for the cookie. Came here on a weekend during lunch hours and waited around 20 minutes before getting seated. Staff are super friendly but the place is also super busy so we ended up waiting a long time for food and service. We got the crab donuts, which were really tasty. It reminds me of a deconstructed croquette. Also hopped on the viral chicken and caviar trend but was a bit let down. The chicken tenders were crispy and juicy but lacked flavor. Paired with the caviar, which I think was of lower quality, the taste was underwhelming. We dined here last Friday (5/16), but I forgot to "check in". This is an upscale, rather classy looking establishment. The obvious centerpiece of it is the large, U shaped bar. Overall, it is a bit too crowded from a dining aspect. On both sides of the bar along the walls, are 2 person tables that appear out of place. In the main dining area, the tables are very close to one another. I guess they are trying to use as much space as possible to maximize their ROI. Many say that service is key. This was the case here. Kudos to Chloe for her knowledge, friendly demeanor, and attention to detail. The same could be said about the supporting staff. Savory Dungeness Crab Donuts - AKA donut holes topped with crab. Tasty, though the donuts themselves were getting to be a bit too oily. Garden Vegetable Salad - Very good. Chloe did give us a "heads up" of the sweet peas being pureed and acting as the greens. It was a nice surprise and a good way to start off the meal. Veal and Swiss Chard Cannelloni - Definitely a "must try". Enough said. Grilled Flank Steak - Tasty but a bit tough/chewy. We have had flank steak at other restaurants that were more tender. The menu used to say/imply it was Wagyu. Still, it'll be Flank Steak! Crushed Crispy Potatoes - This dish started out fine, especially when dipping them into the creme fraiche. The space feels upscale with art-deco details, warm lighting, and a festive atmosphere that makes it perfect for a holiday dinner or a dressed-up night out. Their cocktails alone are worth the visit. I ordered the clarified Long Island Iced Tea, and it was nothing like the typical version in either taste or appearance. Clean, balanced, and beautifully executed--easily one of the best clarified cocktails I've had. Major credit to the bartenders and mixologists here. Went out for brunch with a couple friends and one of them mentioned this newish place at Santana Row. Our server was helpful with getting us situated and familiar with the menu. They serve everything family style and the food came out as it was completed from the kitchen. Fried Chicken + Caviar: Presentation was excellent, looks like how i would expect caviar to look like. Ratio of caviar to crème fraiche was good but still too much crème fraiche in my opinion. Chicken was also kind of weird, it was formed into these mozzarella stick shapes and with the size, it was pretty dry. Like why am I eating caviar with Burger King chicken fries? 2/5 Crispy Potatoes: Our server recommended this as a popular item and it was indeed the table favorite. But even then, there wasn't anything admirable about it. Your typically smashed potatoes and baked until crispy. Well seasoned and the red onion crème fraiche is what it sounds like. 4/5 French Toast: I have never seen a more sad looking french toast in my life. Presentation was so sloppy and boring that I wasn't sure if it was bc it's supposed to look like this or if it was bc they forgot our order and gave us fries instead. Would it have killed them to add a few berries? Either way, the french toast itself was very average but moist. 2/5 Croque Madame: Typically not a fan but they didn't do a bad job. Well seasoned and the caramelization of the onions was perfect. Each mouthful was hearty and good. 4/5 French Fries: Our server misheard when we ordered french toast and he was gracious and left us the fries. Pretty average, what you would expect fries to be. Aioli wasn't as garlic as i expected and a tad sweet? 3/5 Albacore Crudo: I was really excited to try the crudo but extremely disappointed. Fish was fresh but a slight fishy smell to it. Not the worst though. The sauce it was paired with just didn't made sense to me. It was overly thick, more pesto pasta sauce and kinda leaned away from the typical bright and citrus type sauces. 1/5 Fishermans Mussels: The mussels were really briney and pungent. Not sure why it was really briney like that but the sourdough bread that came with the dish was good. 1/5 Overall, would not recommend. My friends and I made reservations to go here for dinner on a Thursday evening. We arrived early and were told we would be seated at our reservation time. Sure enough, we were seated right on time. Located in the old Sino location, the restaurant has romantic lighting and nice green decor. It certainly looks completely different than how it was before. Food: My friends and I had the fries to share to start. The fries were delicious. I also had a salad to start and then the mushroom onion tart. Both were pretty good. I had the tart as leftovers the next day, and it was still pretty good! My friends had the burger, the duck cannelloni, oysters and some dessert. Everyone enjoyed their food. This casual (but still very expensive) sibling to the Michelin-starred Village Pub and Selby's that just opened in Santana Row has a lot of hype, but it feels like a marketing coup rather than an innovation. Everything was great (I particularly loved the flatbread), but nothing stood out in the memorable way you'd hope. The lobster was wonderful but definitely not worth the price. The fries are good. So was the steak. But again, any restaurant can do these dishes. Given the talent in the kitchen, this could be so much more than it was. If you're reading this, you're already planning to go, and it's a good meal. But at the price point, why not just go to The Village Pub and be blown away? read more

I love how big their outdoor seating area was and still felt closed off from the rest of the Row. Decoration and ambiance was very nice. Bf and I both got the burger which we thoroughly enjoyed. I like the small fries that was perfectly crunchy. I shared the grilled Baja shrimp. Shrimp was grilled perfectly and paired so well on top of the tartar sauce. I've been here twice and enjoyed both times. However, the second time, the food took a while to come out where all the tables around us were also asking the waiter multiple times. We got the butternut squash tart and the hand-rolled cavatelli and both were absolutely delicious. When dining in, you're also able to order from the cafe so I got a regular latte and it was good. I saw outside with my friend and the aesthetics of the place was nice. Our total came out to be a little over $80 after tax and tip. Definitely will come back. read more

Came here for Saturday lunch during Super Bowl weekend. There was a thirty minute wait and we used this time to walk around. We got a text in less than thirty minutes and were seated outside the restaurant, not the patio seating. The seated cushion bench was comfortable. Instead of water being refilled throughout our time, we received a large bottle of still and sparkling. Our server would still refill our glasses when she would pass by. We ordered the gem lettuce salad, the description on the website is not the same as the menu. The gem lettuce salad we had was a Waldorf salad with light dressing. The citrus cured salmon tartare was light and the puffed rice added a texture contrast with the soft cubed salmon. The Augustine burger was cut in half for us, which was perfect. The shoestring fries with the garlic aioli was good but not $9 good for just a side. Augustine restaurant service was great. We grabbed dessert and coffee at their cafe next door. The caramel crème puff was aesthetically pleasing. The tropical dessert wasn't too sweet and it's not a soft cake texture. The menu for both change seasonally. I happened to stop by during their soft opening and saw that it was already very popular with people sitting outside and a line forming inside. I decided to take a quick peek before deciding where to get my coffee this day and I'm glad I did. There was a sign on the door saying that you'd get a free treat today since they were still training staff, so I was sold. However, all of their baked goods and snacks were gone by the time I was able to place my order, so instead my drink was free. They were even nice enough to let me order another one to take home! I ordered an iced decaf vanilla latte and an iced matcha. I saw that some people got the option to choose the size of their drinks but they gave me the standard smaller size by default, which was fine. Drinks took a little while to make since there were so many orders and only one espresso machine making maybe 2 drinks at a time. The matcha was hand whisked which was nice to see. Overall, the drinks needed a little improvement but were fine for being free. If I had paid the $6-7 each, I'd probably ask them to remake the latte because it was way too sweet and I had asked for lightly sweetened. The matcha was good but could actually have been a little sweeter. Quality of both drinks were spot on though, so that's a win. I'll definitely be back and want to try their baked goods since the early reviews have all spoken highly of them. We had lunch on a Friday and really enjoyed our meal. We felt Augustine is one of the better restaurants at Santana Row now, and it's a good addition. Service was attentive and polite, and our dishes came out pretty quickly. We tried the duck cannelloni, mushroom tart, crab donuts, and dark chocolate mousse for dessert. My favorite was probably the mushroom tart but my husband liked the duck cannelloni. We would definitely return with friends! Came for dinner with my partner for Valentine's day. Our initial table was outside and no where near a heater so I asked if we could move. We were promptly moved inside and it was much better. The cafe had a mix of pastries - some familiar, some French styles I was less familiar with but still within the constrained French flavor pallete (no Zatar croissants or turmeric monkey bread here). They also offer some small sandwiches for larger savory flair. The coffee menu is standard, no specialty flavors or concoctions. I ordered a Gruyère cheese pastry and a salted caramel cream puff. These savory pastry was new and intriguing (if a bit egg-y in flavor) but I can't help but feel a bit ripped off that I paid $6 for mostly air ). The salted caramel on top of the cream puff was perfect but I wished the flavor extended into the pastry cream itself. The interior design is beautiful with white and blue tiles. I am happy that a new cafe option is open on Santana row to add variety to fancy sit down restaurants and the other cafe Cocola (which has reigned unchecked in its middling options for too long) but I hope to see Augustine Cafe continue to push the boundaries of pastries in the future. I was excited to come to Augustine after reading about it online. Really beautiful decor and a wonderful setting. The food was uniformly very good. The seafood was fresh and flavorful...the pork chop was tender...the chocolate mousse for dessert was good, but the house-made gelato was even better. Only nit and why this is not a 5-star rating is because the service was very spotty. Our waiter was great... when he was with us. My partner and I dined here during their soft opening and aside from the surly older hostess, our experience was just ok. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She had a bunch of great recommendations but my favorite was the chicken and caviar bites. My only complaints are that I wished they had deboned my branzino better as there were still some bones remaining in my fish. My partner ordered the pork which was pretty dry. To be frank, I had higher expectations as this restaurant was brought to life by the same management group as The Village Pub in Woodside and Selby's in Redwood City. We were at Santana Row on Saturday and stopped by Augustine for some coffee. It was very nice! The shop is super cute and small but the staff are very friendly and we really enjoyed our drinks!! Food Golden Osetra Caviar - $85 + $15 (extra for Fried Chicken) The brioche melba was toasted well and had a nice crunch. The caviar was served with chives, chopped onions, cured egg yolk, and crème fraiche. The fried chicken came with 4 pieces and was juicy. It didn't seem to go well with the caviar because of the flavor profiles and textures. Crushed Crispy Potatoes - $12 The smashed red onions, a side of crème fraîche, and garnished with chives were baked well. The dish was served with 11 pieces and easily shareable between 3-4 people as an appetizer. Garden Vegetable Salad - $18 The red beets, tangerines, sunflower seeds, and warm goat cheese were very refreshing. (note: Cafe Augustine next door served the same salad in a to go container for $11). Overall, I would order the caviar without the fried chicken, crispy potatoes, and garden vegetable salad. The dishes were served with an aesthetic appeal on the scalloped plate-ware and portions can be shared as family-style. The caviar was a miss with the fried chicken (all of the other caviar menu options were sold out and it was only 2 pm on a Saturday) and would eat it with the brioche melba. Customer Service The customer service was unmatched and very accommodating. My reservations needed to be shifted as my party was running late. Upon my arrival, the staff warmly greeted the party and promptly seated us. The server ensured all of our requests were accommodated and very attentive throughout the dining experience. The server accidentally provided the brunch menu instead of the dinner menu after my party had already placed our order. However, the kitchen staff was able to fulfill our brunch order. First visit in this cafe @ Santana Row. Just walked in but was easily enticed. The people behind the counter were so friendly and both girls who helped me were gorgeous. I'm thinking this is maybe family owned and the daughters helped me? Anyway, just walked out with a snack and bought a delicious and crispy chewy Cowboy Cookie which is loaded with oats, dried cherries, toffee and chocolate chips and a Chocolate Croissant that was good enough. We have had better Chocolate Croissants at places like Arsicault Bakery or Tartine's Bakery in San Francisco. Still would recommend this place for a quick dessert bite or snack to bring home. read more

My husband and I gave Augustine restaurant a try after stopping by its cafe the week prior. We saw that the restaurant was popping, so I didn't take any chances for a walk-in. I made reservations for 5pm on a Saturday. We were seated inside in a big cozy booth all to ourselves. The restaurant was a classy, modern beauty. Our server was awesome. She was friendly and attentive, and she was really helpful with advising our food choices. Food came out in a timely manner as well, which was a huge plus. We ordered their French Fries and Savory Dungeness Crab Donuts to share. I enjoyed the French Fries, which were matchstick thin and extra crispy. Nice lemon aioli sauce for dipping as well. The donuts typically come in an order of 3, but we were informed that the donuts were smaller than usual so we got 4 instead. They were cool. Reminded me of refined seafood hush puppies. I particularly liked the yeast donut holes, which had a buttery soft texture. My husband got the Augustine burger. Admittedly the middle of his patty looked more rare than medium rare, which was the recommended temperature. All the fixings in the burger were great, making it really flavorful, but I couldn't get over the rareness. I got the Duck Canneloni, which was fantastic. This was highly recommended by our server, and I would agree that it was the best thing I ate at dinner. I thought that 2 canneloni wasn't going to be enough, but this dish was actually quite rich. For dessert I ordered their Old-fashioned Cruller. If you know your donuts and love French Crullers like I do, you'd be perplexed by the name of this dessert too. An old fashioned is a cake donut, whereas French crullers are made out of choux pastry... so which one is it?! I expressed my confusion to our server, and she had to go to the pastry chef to get clarification on the texture! I was assured that the Cruller was made with pâte à choux, and it was everything I wanted it to be. Also loved the crème anglaise. read more

RATING FOR CAFE/Bakery - - Saw quite a few TikToks about this place. It's nice to have something new at The Row. Went to check it out before we brunched at their restaurant. Quite a few patrons were outside enjoying their coffee and pastries. I went inside and was taken aback that was the only way in and out. It's a small rectangular shop and it wasn't clear how the line went, as folks were standing around the seats/tables. The display of pastries looked great. So we returned after brunch to mainly try their coffee but I saw the chocolate banana bread and I had to try it! Again, confusion with patrons coming in as it got crowded. Once you pay, you're in an awkward position where to wait. There is a table with 2 chairs that definitely should not be positioned in front of the cashier. They need stanchions to guide customers that it's a one-way line. It's also awkward not having an exit door there. It's just a tight space and if they want the flow to go right, remove half the table & chairs inside. At one point it got crowded, I had to go outside and let the hub wait. Coffee was okay and the banana bread was dense, but moist and good. read more

We ordered the Wagyu flank steak, breakfast sandwich, pear and almond crostata, fig Basque cheesecake, and the Harissa spiced carrots and every single dish was exceptional. The steak was melt in your mouth tender and packed with flavor, the breakfast sandwich was next level comfort food, and the crostata had that perfect balance of buttery, nutty, and sweet. Service here is great. They are well staffed and everyone here is very friendly. When I came here at around 7PM there were two guys and a girl working. This cafe is very lively and very family oriented. They will greet you by your name especially if you are a repeat customer. They are mellow and enjoyable to talk to. The drinks are pretty good. The Chai Latte is sweeter than I expected. It was like cotton candy. so ask them for adjustments and they will do it accordingly. I would give them 4.5 stars for it. They offered me the matcha shot.
