    augustine for breakfast

One of our friends from barry's ended up treating us to savory and sweet pastries. it was cool to see that they had a café on the side of the restaurant. The ambience was a sitdown outdoor café along with a restaurant inside. The service was really good and super helpful and narrowing the options to enjoy for the morning.

Augustine has such a nice ambiance and the indoor and outdoor seating are both nice. We ordered the caviar and fried chicken, and the caviar portion was surprisingly generous, though I wished there had been a little more chicken. The steak was delicious and cooked really well, but I also found myself wishing the portion was slightly bigger. The fries were crispy, flavorful, and honestly one of my favorite sides. Service was really nice throughout the night, and I ordered the Influencer Martini, which was super easy to drink. Overall, really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back.

Aug Augustine is a beautiful newer addition to Santana Row -- stylish, lively, and already drawing a crowd. The bar is first‑come, first‑served, and there's a great heated, covered patio along with bistro tables outside if you prefer to sit outdoors. Food was genuinely excellent. The crab donut appetizer is unique and a fun start to our meal. The linguine al limone with Dungeness crab is exceptional -- bright, rich, and perfectly balanced. The burger was cooked exactly to temp and had just the right amount of sauciness. They also have an impressive wine list, though corkage is $35 per bottle if you want to bring your own. Service was on the slower side, but to their credit, senior staff stepped in to help keep things moving. It felt like a team still finding its rhythm, but trying hard. Overall, a great meal in a gorgeous space. Four stars for the slower service, but I'd absolutely come back -- especially for that crab linguine.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Augustine, serving coastal Californian cuisine with French and Italian influences. We started with the Caviar Bites--fried chicken topped with ranch seasoning and caviar crème fraîche. We also shared the gem lettuce salad with apples, grapes, celery, gorgonzola, and candied walnuts. For our main, we had the roasted chicken with herb butter and lemon-dijon, along with the harissa-spiced carrots served over a warm bulgur salad with preserved lemon tzatziki. The food was incredible and delicious, and the service was excellent.

love the rotating menu and great variety of tasty food. I would say, everything on the menu each time I've dined in were good or delicious. the one thing though is some items are overly greasy which doesn't hurt the flavor but is a bit unnecessary. staff is friendly and helpful as well.

We have been wanting to try out Augustine's before it opened. At first we were hesitant but we've now eaten here 3 times now. We didn't take photos of everything because we were enjoying the atmosphere. I love most of their dishes: - brunch pancakes - brunch/dinner smashed crispy potatoes (add truffle omg!!) - croissants - dungeness crab donuts - Augustine breakfast - dinner salmon - dinner wagyu steak - dinner garden salad (not leafy mainly beet love it) - dinner gem salad (leafy) We didn't like the calamari dish because it was more soupy. Wish it was crispy calamari. The lattes needed some help

This place is perfect for small bites, cocktails, drinks and hanging out with friends. I didn't get a chance to take pics inside - it's beautiful. We sat outside and enjoyed the amazing California weather. Pros: - very tasty and healthy dishes - perfect spot - Santana Row - beautiful decor - simple food menu (one pager) - lots of options for drinks (several pages for wine and cocktail plus mocktails) - great to share plates Con - being Santana Row, it's on the pricier side - the waiter landed up getting 2 dishes each - though we do finish it (we had asked for just one) - smaller portions - we asked for clams appetizer, he got a clam pasta entree - it was tasty - we didn't bother returning it It's a great place to hang out. My one request would be not bringing the food out so quickly- we wanted to chat and have more drinks.

A belated review, but a review nonetheless! I was here for a Galentine's dinner back in February and Augustine did not disappoint! The staff were so nice and attentive, even making sure to place the newest dishes down as we were taking photos. The private room we were in was really nice and luxurious feeling, as we didn't have to shout to hear ourselves over the other patrons' chatter. Highlights for me were the crispy potatoes. Oh, those were perfectly crispy but still soft. I could just eat that! I ordered the burger with fries and the burger was perfectly cooked. The bun was very squishy and all of the flavoring of the meat seeped right into it alongside the cheese. The fries were delicious too! The shoestring type of fry is usually not my go to, but these were nice and crispy.

Santana Row has A LOT of new restaurants and we haven't been to any of them. Well, we knocked off 3 (yes, 3!) in one evening: Suspiro, Augustine, and Zazil. Augustine was our second stop, after Suspiro. It was the complete opposite of Suspiro, vibe wise. It was pretty dead inside, darker, more serious, and honestly, we were a little worried. But we sat down at the bar and ordered two drinks (a clarified Long Island iced tea and The Aficionado with tequila, mezcal, braulio, maple syrup, walnut, and angostura bitters), truffle french fries, and a duck confit cannelloni. The cocktails were solid, but it was the service and food that impressed us. They were just super attentive and brought me all the sauces for the French fries - ketchup, aioli, and a crème fraîche with chives - which were perfectly made with real black truffles. The duck confit cannelloni could have been too rich, but it wasn't. Everything was understated, but just done really well. We were surprised! This was our second favorite of the night.

IMHO I didn't expect to dine at Augustine for a second time, just two months after our last outing, but was pleased to be invited to a family gathering and birthday celebration there! Our party was set in the private dining room in the back, which made for a lovely, intimate, (and quieter) atmosphere. Chloe was our fantastic server/host who took care of our party immaculately! She was wonderful and always available to ensure we had everything we needed. Thank you, Chloe! Our delicious dinner menu began with the Grilled Flatbread served with Muhammara tapenade, Garden Vegetable salad w/roasted beets, tangerines, radishes, smoked goat cheese and sunflower seeds, and the Roasted Mushroom Tart! For our party, everything was served family-style with two plates of each dish per table. Our mains and sides were the Linguine al Limone, Herbed Salmon a la Plancha, Grilled Bavette Steak, Roasted Cauliflower, and Crispy Potatoes. Dessert was the Basque Cheesecake, so light, creamy and delectable with the orange-chamomile syrup! This was an epic meal. Absolutely everything was delicious, flavorful, and memorable! If I had to choose one thing that really stood out to me, it was the Roasted Mushroom Tart, and I'm not usually a mushroom fan! It was amazing and I would definitely order it again! Can't wait to return to Augustine!

Cute place that fits right in with the SROW vibes. The restaurant itself is modern with a cafe style vibe outdoors, which I'd recommend sitting since it's much more fun/lively in SROW that way. Service was nice and efficient overall. Would highly recommend making reservations though, since it's such a busy area & I've seen many people wait at least 30 min++ Menu here is modern California faire (which tends to always be a bit more $$$ overall); also apparently 'shareable' - although maybe a bit too itty bitty in size to share for some ppl (lol). There is a nice freshness to the menu with lots of veggie dishes (some of the best I've ever tasted actually), seafood, meat, pastas, etc. There is also a cocktail menu with a good variety, although this is something I think they need to work on - sadly haven't had a cocktail that I'd reorder yet. (1) Seasonal Salad - sugar snap peas, radish, baby gems, boiled egg, and a delish house made lemon vinaigrette. Refreshing. & tasty! (2) Charred Peas & Radish Salad - this was sooooo freakn good, the smokiness from the charr really gave a unique taste + a yummy dill & lemon house dressing. (2) Crab Donuts - these were tasty bites, jampacked with fresh flavorful crab + a great pillowy "hush puppy" like donut. (3) Fries - lightly seasoned and tasty + a light aioli dipping sauce. (4) Rotisserie Chicken - this was tasty, but I wouldn't say it was mind-blowing or unique in any way. Chicken was juicy & had a good lemon/dill flavor; this was also one of the larger shareable dishes which makes it an easy addition. (5) Hand Rolled Cavatelli pasta - super tasty & a must order for me! The hand rolled pasta had the most unique texture + a yummy red sauce & fresh dallop of cheese on top = heaven. (6) Seared Scallops - this was surprisingly sooo good!! Scallops were cooked perfectly, but it was really the unique tomato sauce & grilled onions that stole the show. Cocktails - don't remember what we got but they were all pretty light and simple in taste. I think the martini like drink was def. the most boozy but I wouldn't say it was well balanced or complex. Def. had some amazing dishes here but also sometimes still question if it warrants portion or price. If anything - I'd recommend NOT coming super hungry (lol)...maybe light bites & some drinks on a date night OR opt for a "girl dinner" type of night, which would be perf.

Came here for my 10 year anniversary and was super let down by the experience. We were sat by the host and our server didn't come to check on us or greet us at all until 15-20 minutes later. A different server was noticed and helped us out with waters 15 minutes in. Our actual server came by eventually and got our orders in. The cocktails were watery and tasteless. The food was okay. My favorite was the linguine and truffle fries. My partner asked for salt and our server deadass reached over to the table next to us (who just left) and gave us their used salt ramekin (that you dip your fingers in). I thought it was a joke at first but he walked away. I was super shook by how awful the service was honestly and was just ready to leave. The vibes were cute though, minus the service and cocktails.

Lunch for 2. - Ambiance (4*) We ate outside so didn't really see what it was like inside, but like all Santana Row places, it looked upscale. The outside was quite nice as well, though the sun can get a bit hot. They needed more umbrellas. - Service (2*) Not impressed with the service. Menu was explained in a clunky way- "just look at the prices to see what's a tapas size vs main size" is not helpful. During ordering, the waiter kept trying to get us to order more. When we asked which of two things were better, he insisted we just get both. I mean- just tell us because we were only going to order one more thing! After food came out, the waiter never came back to check on us. Water ran dry with no refill. Dishes took forever to clear, and check took forever to come out. - Salmon Tartare, $24 (5*) Wow wow wow! Excellent salmon tartare. The toasted rice added a delightful textural component. The little pops of spice from the peppers was perfect. - Vegetable Salad, $22 (5*) Hard to be inventive with salad, and we were a bit surprised to hear there was no dressing. But truly none was needed! The orange, beet, dill, goat cheese mixture in one bite was perfect! - Duck Confit Cannelloni, $30 (4*) Really flavorful bites. Just wish there was a little something fresh to cut through the richness. - Beef Kefte, $18 (3*) Despite being described as ultra tender, I found these, while flavorful, to be a bit on the dry side. - Value (4*) For well executed food in reasonable portions set in Santana Row ambiance... pretty good. - Final Word Some real standouts in food make me want to come back and try more. So many places on Santana Row are gimmicky. This is not one of those. They could reorganize or explain the menu better and really need to improve the service. But, the food is good enough for is to return.

I think traditionally, you need reservations for Cielo, but their Winter Experience (ran through December and mid-January) is first-come, first-served. The Winter Experience is a Christmas-themed set-up - very tastefully and beautifully decorated - with Christmas music (even 2 weeks after the New Year). the tables along the edge have small in-table fire pits AND a tall heated furnace - you will not be cold in December. these tables do require a minimum spend of $50 per person, which we came into this expecting that regardless - however, it sounds like you can sit at any of the other tables without this minimum spend, though you will only have a blanket for warmth. the sunset was beautiful, though keep in mind that we do live in a city, and there are other tall buildings around, so don't set your expectations too high. Overall, we are so happy we finally checked this place out, and that we were able to do so during the Winter Experience. We did find it overpriced (considering it's at Hotel Valencia... we weren't surprised) for what you get. I tried one cocktail (~$20) that tasted like a flavored soda, before switching to wine; my husband had 2 Old Fashioned, they were both made differently but both good. The food was good - small, shareable portions. We're happy to have finally stopped in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come again. If you're looking for a spot that treats its veggie dishes with as much care as their proteins, this is it. Great vibes, great service, and even better flavors. Can't wait to come back!

I always ordered the chicken dish, so when it came out this time, I was genuinely confused. The menu describes it as having a garlicky yogurt sauce, but there was none. I even checked their website afterward, and the dish I received looked nothing like the one advertised. I also looked through recent reviews and photos from other customers, and even those dishes looked very different from what we were served. If the recipe or sauce changed, I really think customers should be informed. When I asked the waitress, she explained that it now comes with a zhoug sauce instead, but that isn't mentioned anywhere on the menu. Oddly enough, the same sauce was also used on the Dorada fish dish. We also used to love the lamb, but they changed that dish too by removing the sauce and couscous base. I'm not sure why the changes were made, but it's just not the same anymore. Overall, it was really disappointing, especially since we chose to spend Mother's Day here. The food quality has definitely gone downhill. On top of that, the restaurant seemed extremely understaffed -- there appeared to be only about three servers working the entire floor all night. The ambiance was still decent, but the overall experience just didn't feel like the Meso we used to love. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place anymore.

I came here with a friend on a weekday for dinner and it was not packed at all. The atmosphere was very minimalist and clean, with a cute disco ball in the corner. This establishment requires you to order at the bar (makes sense it's a bar), and then they did you a number for the table so they can deliver your food. Any drinks you order they will make it right then and there for you to bring over. In terms of food, here is everything we ordered and my thoughts! *Deviled eggs: You would think since it's deviled eggs, there wouldn't be anything too special about them but I appreciated the small pops of salmon roe that added a nice textural play with the creamy eggs! * Bluefin tostada: Absolutely delicious with fresh tuna, paired with mango, on a crispy wonton chip. What a rich treat. * Arancini: The twist of fusion flavors was great. I love how the Japanese curry added a nice mix of umami, paired with the sharp creamy kimchi sauce. Definitely a favorite! * Pork belly: Pull apart, juicy, and tender! These paired actually really well with the arancini for a good balance of rice and meat. * Red miso crème brûlée: interesting sweet and salty flavor combination between the red miso and Madagascar vanilla. Not too overpowering tho. A lovely meal was had here!

We sat outside by the fire pits. We tried so many drinks but the waiter suggested Paradise Lounge was the best one I tried. We did try the Phoenix Rising... hard pass on that one - something tasted rank to me. They were kind enough to remake it, and after the second version it still tasted weird. I do think it was something off with me. Ultimately they brought out another PL. Really appreciated that and they didn't make me feel bad for being picky. Overall great drinks, great vibes, awesome staff - highly recommend!

There's plenty of water stations to self serve a drink break. There's a lot of seating inside and outdoors. Inside has tables, booths, and a large television to watch the basketball game. Outside, it face the inner street of San Pedro. The day I went as a fun surprise because I got the stroll through free photobooth, and other activities for the event in the area.
