The location was beautiful, and I think that's 90% of the appeal. The presentation of the food was fantastic, but the quality was good, not great - and I don't think it warranted such high prices. You could get a glass of wine, a cup of coffee, or nothing at all and just sit on the outdoor patio. A bit over hyped ! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance, decor, and overall atmosphere were definitely the highlight of our experience--it's a very lovely place with a sophisticated and inviting feel. We visited to celebrate my birthday, and while our server was friendly, I felt the service lacked attentiveness throughout our visit. When we were seated, we were asked again what the occasion was, so we were expecting perhaps a small birthday gesture or acknowledgment. Unfortunately, nothing was done for my birthday, while we noticed the table next to us received a nice birthday gesture. It was a little disappointing, especially since the occasion had been specifically mentioned. As for the food, there were definitely some hits and misses. My mom ordered the chicken sandwich, but the bread was extremely over-toasted. When I took a bite, it was so hard and sharp that it actually cut my gums, which was definitely not something we expected. On the positive side, the salmon and truffle fries were delicious and probably the best part of our meal. However, while they were good, I wouldn't say the food overall was quite at a 5-star level. Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. The setting is gorgeous and the ambiance is beautiful, and our server was kind, but the lack of attentiveness and some issues with the food made the experience feel more like a 3-star visit for us. Anniversary dinner! Wife and I enjoyed exploring the gallery and getting ideas until it was dinner time. I had made a reservation online. Super easy process, had no issues. Mentioned in the reservation that it was our anniversary, what wine was our preference and nice seating - whatever that may be heheh. My only problem is that they ask for this information and yet it felt like they didn't proactively, beforehand, do anything with it. Oh well. Beyond that, Philip was a star, great host. Very attentive and timely. Took pictures when we requested and was just overall delightful I guess to be expected, but all portions were very small (reference pictures for more detail). My partner and I came to RH Rooftop for his birthday. We made a reservation for a Monday evening, just in case. As others have pointed out, to get to the restaurant, go inside and take the stairs or elevator to the third floor. We were greeted by a host and led to our table. They informed us that they were opening the windows soon for sunset. All the staff here seem really happy, which I think helps with the good atmosphere in the place. The decor is of course top-tier as it's housed in an RH. Per the waitress' recommendation, we ordered the Crispy Artichokes and my partner got the Whole Grilled Branzino. I ordered the Sea Bass and a Pomme Royal non-alcoholic drink. The Crispy Artichokes were SO good. I'd come back for those alone. The Branzino was good, and the Pomme Royal tasted like an apple pie. While the Sea Bass was good, I found it too buttery. Is that possible? The potato puree that came with it was really good though. A salmon dish came out initially, but after telling them I'd ordered the sea bass, it was remedied at no cost to me. At the end of the meal, they brought out a cookie with a candle for the birthday boy. Don't worry, they don't sing for you! Overall, I think this place is good vibes. I'd come back for an occasion. I have been wanting to try the RH restaurants for awhile. Every time I've wanted to go though either someone didn't want to go or I was talked out of it for one reason or another. I finally was able to visit the Palo Alto location during the week for a late lunch and aside from the decor, I honestly not expecting much. The ambiance is beautiful, I was expecting more of a "view" though and also was not expecting it to be at the Stanford mall. It was still very nice inside, white linens and very clean. The service was attentive and welcomed. My guests were running late and yet I wasn't rushed nor felt bothered despite the waitress checking in every so often. We ordered food and drinks - again I was not expecting much (based on other feedback) but I found the food to be great! Yes, it's much on the pricier side, but I thought my French dip was delicious! It's actually really cool to have this dining option on Restoration Hardware now it has moved from University Ave to the shopping center. Once you go into RH, head to the elevator to the right and go straight to 3rd floor. The vibe of the restaurant reminds of Eataly in Santana Row. The space is spacious and very good light due to the windows especially during the lunchtime. Service is really good and should be for the price. Food is decent and for certain things such as lobster roll, it's not as expensive as you'd think but most menu items are high price high margin items which I can understand. I do think the price is high if we are strictly talking about food but given the venue, vibe and service I can understand. Food unfortunately is so so and the portion is too small for myself (lobster roll) but as I said, it is what it is. It's a good spot for casual (but fancy casual) gathering for a date or with friends. Do note that if you are going for the full 3 course meal, it would cost just as much as a good steakhouse. The menu reminds me of The Sea (Alexander's) with slightly more focus on seafood than meat (but there are some meat dish). I came here for my birthday brunch and I had such a nice experience dining here! The service was phenomenal and our server took care of us. The interior of this restaurant was super nice and it's what drew me to eating here to begin with; you never would've guessed this is above a furniture store lol. My group and I ordered the Swedish pancakes, Caesar salad, crispy artichokes, and prosciutto board. My favorite appetizer was definitely the Swedish pancakes; they were flatter and thinner than normal pancakes and I loved the crispy edges. I thought the crispy artichokes were okay; it didn't taste like much but the aioli sauce was good. For my entree, I ordered the Italian benedict off the brunch menu. I loved how the benedict was on a toasted ciabatta bread than the usual English muffin! It also came with a nice arugula side salad. At the end of our meal, our server graciously came out with 3 complementary warm chocolate chip cookies as a nice birthday dessert which I appreciated. People love this restaurant for the views, the ambiance, the cocktails, and the caviar. We made a reservation for 5:30pm on Saturday but walked in at 4pm already hungry, hoping they could seat us early. The hostess did, and we were pleased to see more options on their summer menu since the first time we tried RH Rooftop Restaurant previously was in the winter. My mom ordered the Peach Bellini, I ordered the Pomme Royal (non-alcoholic). In my opinion this menu does have a little something for everyone, even if you're looking for something more casual or budget-friendly. They have a gorgeous selection of salads - super hydrated and happy vegetables, beautiful presentation, very refreshing - plus familiar favorites like burgers and sandwiches - all the way to your lobster and overpriced oysters. We ended up sharing the Steak Frites (medium rare), the Lobster Roll (added caviar), as well as the Blue Fin Toro Carpaccio. The steak frites really impressed me and I could see why people all around us were ordering french fries alone - they're top tier and you can tell they're fresh cut potatoes vs. frozen. Steak was perfectly seasoned and the lump crab on top was also fresh, vs. canned. I wish there was more. Lobster roll was divine, although on the smaller side, and next time we probably won't add the caviar. The caviar alone added an extra $40 to a $36 sandwich so... yeah. The carpaccio is mouthwateringly thin and served with a lighter dusting of caviar - we wanted to order another one and flagged our server down for a second order, but it never came. Like other reviewers have mentioned, service can be slow and disjointed. We were served by 3-4 different faces and although I didn't mind that, I could see how things were lost in translation. Our cloth napkins also smelled gross (when you leave them in the washer too long) which was a huge turn-off so we asked for paper napkins to wipe our mouths. Upstairs, the restaurant sits beneath a soaring glass-and-steel atrium, surrounded by olive trees and centered around a fountain. It looks like something between a greenhouse and a designer showroom. They also have an outside area for drinks and snacks. The restaurant was packed and too loud, though, and the tables were too close together. Considering how expansive the gallery is, I wonder why a little more of that space was not given to the restaurant. Another major downside is that they do not accept walk-ins, so you need a reservation. I would choose dinner over lunch. In daylight, the sun pouring through the glass can be too much, with little protection. At night, the lights, trees, and fountain create a much more enchanting and beautiful atmosphere. read more

I've been meaning to try this place ever since it opened up a few years ago. So when hubby said I can go anywhere for my birthday dinner, I knew just where to go! Reservations were simple and easy online. We booked the indoor option. It's nestled close to the Stanford shopping center. Parking is plentiful and you won't have trouble finding a spot to park. You walk inside the RH store and are greeted by one of the staff members. They guide you to go up the elevator on the top floor where the restaurant is. You get off the elevator and immediately get whisked to this beautiful lofty ambiance. It's gorgeous with the natural lighting, open windows and trees in the middle of the restaurant. We are seated inside. So you sit down in this great place and then start to order your food. This is where it falls short. The food was a bit disappointing. One of the standout dishes was the mini lobster roll with caviar. It's super tiny but man SO flavorful. I had the lobster and hubby had the crab as he's allergic. Next we got the fried artichokes which honestly took forever to arrive and they were not that good. They lacked flavor and I wouldn't order that dish again. I had the salmon for the main course but it only came with potato puree. The food is VERY carb heavy and veggies do NOT come included. You have to order them separately which TBH is kind of ridiculous especially for those prices. I ended up having to order a buratta salad after as I did not feel I got any veggies with my meal. So overall the food is not the reason for coming here, and if you do order you need to know what to order. The ambiance does make it worthwhile. I'd recommend dining here just for the ambiance. You can even take a walk outside the patio and take some nice photos with the sunset in the background. For my birthday they did let me choose any dessert which was nice. However the options were pretty limited. Chocolate chip cookies, crème brûlée, .. they were way too sweet for my taste. I ended up just getting the strawberries and cream, which is just strawberries. I mean not that impressive at all but it was the healthiest option. Overall I'd give it 4 I'd recommend to come here for the beautiful ambiance, sunset views, cocktails and even people watching. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the grilled vegetables were flavorful, and everything came together so well. The ambiance was also fantastic. I was here for a business event. We had a set menu. But I was allowed to order off the menu. Naturally I ordered one of my favorites: whole bronzino. If I recall correctly, it was $45-$55. But it was about the smallest bronzino I've been served...and I buy them from markets. It was a minnow. Not acceptable at this price point. The fish was also bland. No salt or pepper. No lemon on the side. I've had much better experiences at RH in Marin. Although I've ordered meat dishes. But even the sides we had weren't so good here. Mom recommended RH, THE ROOFTOP RESTAURANT at RH PALO ALTO. She called the restaurant and was able to book a 10 AM reservation for three. Located at the Stanford Shopping Center, we were able to easily and quickly find parking in the spacious lot. We arrived a little early, so walked around the Restoration Hardware showroom for a bit before walking up the stairs to the upscale restaurant perched on the third floor. The mansard space, with its floor to ceiling glass walls and roof, emulates a giant dazzling sunroom with trees growing out of the floor and elegant glass chandeliers hanging above nearly every table. The modern fountain and airy ambiance provide a relaxing setting for a nice meal while soaking in the glam surroundings and sunshine or admiring the beautiful sunsets. Outdoor seating is also available in their wraparound patio with comfy couches. RH PALO ALTO offers elevated American eats, plus beer, wine, and cocktails. The menu leans into opulent, fancified takes on classics, serving decadent dishes like CAVIAR CARPACCIOS (ranging from $18 to $28) and other CAVIAR SPECIALTIES such as GRILLED AVOCADO WITH CAVIAR ($38) and IMPOSSIBLY THIN HOUSEMADE CHIPS & DIP (15g $55, 30g $95). Below are what we ordered: LOBSTER ROLL ($36) - Z found this to be very good, I thought it was meh. The lobster could have used a bigger Dash of Mayo. On the small side. SWEDISH PANCAKES ($18) with fresh strawberries (for an extra charge) - I was disappointed that these pancakes were not served with the traditional lingonberry butter. These were not even warm enough to melt the slices of butter that topped them. KING CRAB ROLL ($58) - Also a petite serving, but this sandwich was tastier than the lobster version. Z said that it was very good, just like the lobster. HERITAGE PORK SAUSAGE ($12) - Flavourful; however, served cold. TRUFFLE FRIES ($20) - Fried to a perfectly golden crisp. RH BELLINI ($18) - Kudos to RH for serving an authentic bellini with genuine peach purée. This cocktail was yummy. Supposedly the BELGIAN WAFFLE was so remarkable to draw Mom back multiple times. Unfortunately, we were told that that they were no longer serving waffles. Mom was very disappointed by this. To boot, service was nothing to rave about. It seemed to be a bit challenging to catch the attention of our waitress to inform her that all of our dishes were served cold. When we finally got the chance to tell her, she didn't say much and appeared to leave us hanging. I had been hesitant to come because of what I had read, but one of my girlfriends suggested we make a reservation and try it for ourselves. Walking through the space and browsing the beautiful furniture displays made the time pass quickly and added to the overall experience. Where things slowed down a bit was with the service. From placing our order to receiving the food, everything took longer than expected. It wasn't terrible, but it's definitely something to keep in mind if you're on a tight schedule. That said, the food absolutely delivered. We started with the caviar and potato chips, which felt indulgent and fun to share. For lunch we both ordered the lobster roll, and it was spectacular fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I ordered the blackberry mocktail while my friend had the spritz, and both drinks were refreshing and paired nicely with the meal. The real standout, though, was dessert. We ordered the banana split-style brûlée dessert (I wish I remembered the exact name), and it was easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. I went to RH Rooftop after seeing so many videos about how great it was online, and while I do have to say the restaurant was quite pretty and our server was so sweet, nothing really stood out to me otherwise. I didn't love the starters, which were the prosciutto board and the caviar blinis. I found the meat and cheese board to be pretty lackluster and would definitely recommend people to just skip if they're contemplating it. The caviar blinis were very light but truly didn't stand out to me either. However, my boyfriend loved them so maybe try if you're into a light, airy starter. I did enjoy the branzino because of the nice lemon flavor, but I do think it could have used more lemon and a tiny bit of salt. The salad was tasty, and if you lots of onions in your salad then I would recommend. Steak and fries were fine as well. Overall, the food was decent but nothing really stood out to me, and for the price, I've definitely had better. This RH Rooftop Restaurant has become one of our favorite places to go for brunch in the Bay Area. It's located on the outskirts of the Stanford Shopping Center. There are free parkings everywhere. Highly recommend you go early and make reservations in advance. The restaurant as well as the shopping center tend to fill up really fast, especially in the weekends. Do not be surprised if you walk in a furniture store. Simply take the elevator to the 3rd floor and you'll reach the rooftop restaurant. The cute glass ceiling and indoor greenery bring the outside in and you'll feel a sense of openness and freedom. The ambience was a win already for us. We were quickly checked in and led to our table. The staff who would be taking our order was busy chatting up the next table. When he got to us, he showed a different attitude. Instead of chatty chitty and chirpy attitude, he was matter-of-fact-ly despite us smiling at him. The staff who brought us food were considerate though. However, the staff who took our order returned at the end to take our plates away. He startled my sister a bit by not asking and just took her plate away. Other than this tiny uneasy experience, our food and drinks were great. We both order Italian Benedict's and believe it was the best item on the menu. It was made to perfection and the portion was so perfect. Otherwise, we totally enjoyed the ambience and the food, minus a tiny interesting experience. We ended leaving a big tip though. According to the person that picked up, they do not and the next available spot was in 2 hours. So that was a bust right... wrong. My wife continued checking OpenTable and eventually found a spot 30 mins from the time we called, perfect. Parking... yah, just be patient with this one, or park in the structure and take a nice walk. RH of course is very nice. As you enter, you see their furniture being displayed. The restaurant itself is on the 3rd floor, but headed there you can look at their nice furnishings and displays. We were greeted by the nice gentleman at the top of the stairs that was actually able to sit us 10 minutes early. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and bright, with their fountain right in the middle and trees around the surrounding. The seats were very comfortable. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We ordered the Crispy Artichoke, Di Stefano Burrata, RH Burger, Chinese Chicken Salad, RH Scramble, and for dessert their Butter Scotch Creme Brûlée. The appetizers were very good, I especially liked the crispy artichoke. I did wish it had more artichoke though. I felt the potatoes took up a lot of space haha. Their burger was of course very juicy and flavorful. My first time ordering the Chinese Chicken Salad, presentation of it was awesome. And of course the taste was on point as well. Very refreshing and light, yet it got me full. Oh, our server surprised our daughter with their famous RH Chocolate Chip Cookies with candles. RH Rooftop has an excellent menu. We Started with a lobster roll and caviar then moved on to a beef carpaccio. Both were outstanding. For dinner we had the sea bass and the charred wagyu ribeye. Again outstanding. The service could not have been any better. The restaurant is beautiful. A large fountain and a beautiful chandelier hanging overhead in the center of the restaurant. We celebrated our anniversary at RH to match our initials. It was a wonderful evening, from the host to the server we were treated kindly and with respect. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious. I appreciated that they took notice that we both ordered non-alcoholic mocktails, so when we were gifted anniversary blinis, they were alcohol free blinis. We were in the area and wanted to get breakfast. We were close so decided to come here. We came in as a walk in. The place is absolutely gorgeous. We sat at a booth. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The place is very bright and airy. The service here flows smoothly. I ordered a chicken sandwich and we also ordered pancakes, bacon, and sausage. My son absolutely loved the food and it's hard for a 7 year old to eat everything. My children sandwich was delicious it was rotisserie check but very moist. We had a great experience and my son is requesting to go back. read more

We came to RH Rooftop Palo Alto to celebrate my birthday, and while most of the evening was wonderful, the experience unfortunately ended on a sour note. This was our first time here, and the ambiance was the main reason we chose this spot--and it absolutely delivered. The space is stunning, with beautiful decor, and we arrived just in time to watch the sunset through the glass, which made the celebration feel really special. The food overall was very good. We ordered the rosé spritz, cappelletti spritz, classic Caesar salad, mini lobster rolls, truffle fries, petit filet mignon, and branzino. The Caesar salad was amazing and honestly renewed my love for this salad--so fresh, crisp, and perfectly balanced. The truffle fries were a standout and easily the best truffle fries I've had (and I try them everywhere). The truffle flavor really came through, and the dip was incredible--we just wished there was more of it. The petit filet mignon with béarnaise was a showstopper: perfectly cooked medium rare, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and my boyfriend said it easily beat some actual steakhouses. The branzino was good but not particularly memorable; we've had better elsewhere, and there were a few bones we had to be careful of. Service was excellent throughout most of the evening. Our server and host were gracious and professional, plates were cleared promptly, drinks were refilled, and overall the staff was attentive and efficient. However, the end of the night left a sour note. As we were walking down the stairs to leave, a woman was walking up to the third floor with a drink in her hand. As she spotted us, she made a comment along the lines of "keep going downstairs" to us. It felt unnecessary and rude, especially since we were already leaving and not planning to browse furniture. If she was enforcing policy, the comment itself--and having a drink in hand while seemingly on the clock--came off as unprofessional and left a bad taste after an otherwise lovely experience. Still not sure who she was or her role there, but if she does indeed work there-- please work on your customer service skills! Overall, the ambiance and standout dishes made this a memorable birthday dinner, and I'd still recommend it--just hoping for a smoother, more gracious finish next time. read more

Came here today for weekday lunch with my wife and the place was quite full for a weekday but I can definitely see why! The setting and ambiance are fantastic especially on a nice sunny clear skies day like today. I have been to the RH Restaurant in the North Bay before and they have a similar setting. It looks like they have expanded their lunch menu now because it used to be sandwiches, rolls and salads but now they more starters and true entree options. The prices are on the higher side but you get rewarded with good food, great atmosphere and excellent service! A shout out to our wonderful server Raquel who was absolutely fantastic! So friendly, nice and informative! We got the following for lunch: Avocado carpaccio (10/10) - such a flavorful, unique but yet simple dish Prosciutto deluxe board (10/10) - the bread was warm, the cheese was soft and I could not stop eating it all Seabass (9/10) - big chunk of meaty and tasty fish flavored to perfection Grilled whole branzino (9/10) - grilled nicely and simple but delicious. I expected to have to debone the fish while eating but I was surprised that they had deboned it already. Nice! American style baked potato (8/10) - this was smaller than I expected but still very flavorful Chocolate chip cookies (10/10) - These were big and well balanced by the sea salt. I am a fan of RH Rooftop Restaurants, and the Palo Alto's location wasn't an exception! The ambiance can't be beat, and their menu offerings is pretty tasty. I ordered my favorite, the Mini Lobster Rolls (topped with Petrossian Imperial Kaluga Caviar and creme fraiche, all nestled in a super buttery brioche roll that had a nice crisp exterior to it; the lobster was fresh and yummy) and the Grilled Shrimp (dressed in lemon, butter, garlic, and Calabrian chilis; comes with 6 large pieces). I also had the Chinese Chicken Salad, which came with napa cabbage, carrots, and fried wontons, dressed in a sesame soy vinaigrette; this usually comes with cilantro, but opted out. Everything came out fresh and tasty, and the staff were attentive and checked-in often. The place does get busy, so be sure to make a reservation! Came here on a Saturday for lunch. It's so pretty inside with all open windows like a greenhouse. Loved the ambiance. The food and service was as expected for the price point(: this is definitely a nice place for a get together or celebration. RH is a fun elegant date spot for special people in your life. The 270 degree view of Marin, the mountains and Oakland from the top of the building are excellent. Today we had grilled avocado with caviar, prosciutto and Delice board. We first had the grilled avocado and caviar at the San Francisco location. Today we sat near the water fountain in the middle of the restaurant giving us some excellent views. Tables are adorned with white linens and the service is always friendly and attentive. We visited RH Rooftop Restaurant for dinner to celebrate a graduation and were immediately impressed by the atmosphere. After checking in, we were informed that the entire party had to be present before we could be seated. While waiting, I ordered a drink at the bar and enjoyed the beautiful rooftop terrace. The deep cushioned seating, combined with views of Stanford University, the Woodside hills, and the surrounding skyline, created a memorable setting for a special occasion. The dining room is airy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. The glass roof allows plenty of natural light without the harsh glare, making the space comfortable and inviting. The menu is fairly straightforward and not particularly unique, though prices are definitely premium. Sandwiches range from about $24 to $58, and the mini lobster or crab rolls are $20 each. For our group of five, we ordered three lobster rolls, lamb chops, two Caesar salads, two orders of oysters, honey-glazed salmon, sweet potatoes, truffle fries, a gem salad, and several drinks and glasses of wine. Unfortunately, neither the kitchen nor the table service lived up to expectations. Our starters arrived, followed by most of the entrees, but the kitchen completely forgot both Caesar salads. We asked about them twice. By the time they finally arrived, the salads were soggy and lacked the freshness you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. RH Rooftop delivers a stunning setting and is an undeniably beautiful place for a celebration. However, for a restaurant positioned as a luxury dining experience, I expected the food and service to match the spectacular surroundings. While everything looked impressive, the meal itself felt average and the service lacked the attention to detail expected at this price point.
