The bar is first‑come, first‑served, and there's a great heated, covered patio along with bistro tables outside if you prefer to sit outdoors. Food was genuinely excellent. The crab donut appetizer is unique and a fun start to our meal. The linguine al limone with Dungeness crab is exceptional -- bright, rich, and perfectly balanced. The burger was cooked exactly to temp and had just the right amount of sauciness. They also have an impressive wine list, though corkage is $35 per bottle if you want to bring your own. Service was on the slower side, but to their credit, senior staff stepped in to help keep things moving. It felt like a team still finding its rhythm, but trying hard. We started with the Caviar Bites--fried chicken topped with ranch seasoning and caviar crème fraîche. A belated review, but a review nonetheless! I was here for a Galentine's dinner back in February and Augustine did not disappoint! The staff were so nice and attentive, even making sure to place the newest dishes down as we were taking photos. The private room we were in was really nice and luxurious feeling, as we didn't have to shout to hear ourselves over the other patrons' chatter. Highlights for me were the crispy potatoes. Oh, those were perfectly crispy but still soft. I could just eat that! I ordered the burger with fries and the burger was perfectly cooked. The bun was very squishy and all of the flavoring of the meat seeped right into it alongside the cheese. The fries were delicious too! Santana Row has A LOT of new restaurants and we haven't been to any of them. Well, we knocked off 3 (yes, 3!) in one evening: Suspiro, Augustine, and Zazil. Augustine was our second stop, after Suspiro. It was the complete opposite of Suspiro, vibe wise. It was pretty dead inside, darker, more serious, and honestly, we were a little worried. But we sat down at the bar and ordered two drinks (a clarified Long Island iced tea and The Aficionado with tequila, mezcal, braulio, maple syrup, walnut, and angostura bitters), truffle french fries, and a duck confit cannelloni. The cocktails were solid, but it was the service and food that impressed us. They were just super attentive and brought me all the sauces for the French fries - ketchup, aioli, and a crème fraîche with chives - which were perfectly made with real black truffles. The duck confit cannelloni could have been too rich, but it wasn't. Everything was understated, but just done really well. We were surprised! This was our second favorite of the night. read more

IMHO I didn't expect to dine at Augustine for a second time, just two months after our last outing, but was pleased to be invited to a family gathering and birthday celebration there! Our party was set in the private dining room in the back, which made for a lovely, intimate, (and quieter) atmosphere. Chloe was our fantastic server/host who took care of our party immaculately! She was wonderful and always available to ensure we had everything we needed. Thank you, Chloe! Our delicious dinner menu began with the Grilled Flatbread served with Muhammara tapenade, Garden Vegetable salad w/roasted beets, tangerines, radishes, smoked goat cheese and sunflower seeds, and the Roasted Mushroom Tart! For our party, everything was served family-style with two plates of each dish per table. Our mains and sides were the Linguine al Limone, Herbed Salmon a la Plancha, Grilled Bavette Steak, Roasted Cauliflower, and Crispy Potatoes. Dessert was the Basque Cheesecake, so light, creamy and delectable with the orange-chamomile syrup! This was an epic meal. Absolutely everything was delicious, flavorful, and memorable! This was my first time attending this particular bakery since my friend told me about it. She brought me a croissant from them and it was honestly the best croissant I've had in a long time!! I wanted to check out the actual store and see what other options they had. It's my surprise. There were a number of pastries at this Wednesday afternoon, and I was very excited!! The store itself was rather small, but there were a lot of table seats nearby and they had an outdoor patio area. I wish I could've bought a coffee, but I just finished lunch and was getting a pastry for later. I got three different kinds of pastries, A morning bun, a croissant and a cookie. Came here for my 10 year anniversary and was super let down by the experience. We were sat by the host and our server didn't come to check on us or greet us at all until 15-20 minutes later. A different server was noticed and helped us out with waters 15 minutes in. Our actual server came by eventually and got our orders in. The cocktails were watery and tasteless. The food was okay. My favorite was the linguine and truffle fries. My partner asked for salt and our server deadass reached over to the table next to us (who just left) and gave us their used salt ramekin (that you dip your fingers in). I thought it was a joke at first but he walked away. I was super shook by how awful the service was honestly and was just ready to leave. We went here on Easter for brunch. We arrived for our reservation a bit early, but we were sat very quickly. We were offered water pretty much right after we sat down, and shortly thereafter were asked if we wanted anything else to drink. We ordered a soft drink and a few mimosas. Everything was delivered very quickly. The mimosas were fine, not great. Mostly OJ in them. The staff was quick with refills for the soft drink which was nice. For appetizers we order the Crab "donuts," a giant cinnamon roll and the falafel (Which we had assumed was chips w/ hummus). The crab donuts typically came with 3 so the server asked if we wanted to 4th so that everyone could have one. (A nice service touch) These were just okay, though the crab tastes fresh, the overall flavor was bland. The giant cinnamon roll was delicious! A stand out for sure! The falafel was not what we expected, though it was enjoyed none-the-less. A note, the hummus is a minor ingredient, not the star and there are no "chips" rather just crispy chickpeas. For the meals, we had the breakfast sandwich which was very good. The croque madam, also very yummy. The basic breakfast which was eggs and just smashed potatoes. And lastly the crab benedict. The outside was quite nice as well, though the sun can get a bit hot. They needed more umbrellas. - Service (2*) Not impressed with the service. Menu was explained in a clunky way- "just look at the prices to see what's a tapas size vs main size" is not helpful. During ordering, the waiter kept trying to get us to order more. When we asked which of two things were better, he insisted we just get both. I mean- just tell us because we were only going to order one more thing! After food came out, the waiter never came back to check on us. Water ran dry with no refill. Dishes took forever to clear, and check took forever to come out. - Salmon Tartare, $24 (5*) Wow wow wow! Excellent salmon tartare. The toasted rice added a delightful textural component. The little pops of spice from the peppers was perfect. - Vegetable Salad, $22 (5*) Hard to be inventive with salad, and we were a bit surprised to hear there was no dressing. But truly none was needed! The orange, beet, dill, goat cheese mixture in one bite was perfect! - Duck Confit Cannelloni, $30 (4*) Really flavorful bites. Just wish there was a little something fresh to cut through the richness. - Beef Kefte, $18 (3*) Despite being described as ultra tender, I found these, while flavorful, to be a bit on the dry side. - Value (4*) For well executed food in reasonable portions set in Santana Row ambiance... pretty good. - Final Word Some real standouts in food make me want to come back and try more. So many places on Santana Row are gimmicky. This is not one of those. They could reorganize or explain the menu better and really need to improve the service. While we were excited to come, we were left sorely disappointed in the end In terms of service, it did take a while for a server to notice us. When someone finally noticed this, they took our preference in water choice and then left us to wait for our server. That took another 10 minutes after the initial wait. By then, we already knew what we wanted to order. We ordered the linguine, the burger, and the duck confit. I thought most of the food was very mid and lacking flavor and salt, which is not usual for me since I cook with very reduced levels of salt since I cook for my grandparents with various health issues. drinks were also very subpar. I ordered the whiskey sour and was shocked to have the most watery whiskey sour I've ever received in my entire life. Was left so disappointed, we didn't even want to have dessert. We were greeted by the hostess who was very hospitable and shared the menu to browsed it's offering since we had never been at the restaurant. The very large outside seating and equally large bar and dining seating inside. We choose the "halfway" covered dining area which was perfect. Our server Lilly (Lillian R.) greeted us with a welcoming smile. She made several excellent recommendations from the menu that were outstanding! As readers of my Yelp post know we are well travels and adventurous in exploring new cusines, cultures and people. Given it was 3 pm on a January Sunday afternoon we were pleasantly surprised by Augustine's creative, flavorful exciting variety offerings from Dungeness Crab Donuts, Citrus Cured Salmon Tartare, Linguine al Limone, Chicken Paillard and a side of levain. Everything we were recommend by Lily was extraordinary! I shared our delight in the courses and she asked "what did the like the most?" I relied "They all were exceptional, but the Citrus Cured Salmon Tartare was AMAZING! Seriously, I was blown away by its beautiful presentation, incredible freshness and very unique flavors. Parking should be straightforward as there is a garage not far from the front entrance. Be warned there is an Augustine Cafe next door with the same name. We only ordered dessert (specifically the Pear and Frangipane Crostata). It was served quickly and was well prepared and presented. The fruit was fresh and the pastry was flaky and delicious. To be honest the only few things worth noting were the Fried Chicken & Caviar. The Kettle Chips were good too, but it's hard to go wrong when both things are fried and with caviar? Forget about it. A few slices of avocado, beats, seeds and thinly sliced crisp bread. The portion was similar to that of fine dining, about 5 bites and the "salad" was finished. Not sure if their lunch or dinner menu is much better, but felt that their brunch was lacking. Service was great and gave recommendations. Price point is expected from a prestigious group. It's sister restaurants to Michelin-starred The Village Pub and Selby's (Steph Curry was there last time I went), so I had high expectations. I thought the dinner was just ok. But I decided to go back for brunch and they didn't disappoint. I got the Augustine Breakfast (Two Eggs, Applewood-Smoked Bacon Potato Rösti, Toasted Tigelle) for $22. I had never had Tigelle, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The breakfast was cooked to perfection, and the Tigelle was similar to an English Muffin, but it was thicker with an amazing texture. We also got the Old-Fashion Crullers for dessert. They have an extensive wine list which includes the most expensive wine in the world, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The sommelier Graham was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and helpful. We talked to him while waiting to be seated at the bar, and he ended up taking over our table as the server. We ended up getting the Llopart, Corpinnat, Gran Reserva, Penedes, Brut 2022 which was excellent. I'll definitely be back for brunch!! read more

The savory Dungeness crab donuts weren't bad. The donut itself was great, but the crab was just OK to me and had a bit of a fishy smell. The buttermilk pancake, though, was amazing. So thick, so fluffy, and that lemon butter was perfect. I ended up taking most of it home. I'd definitely order it again. The hand-rolled cavatelli was really good too, though it didn't have any kick to it. My brother ordered the Augustine Breakfast, and there wasn't anything particularly exciting about it. When my party of 2 first arrived, we accidentally headed into the cafe from the parking structure. Just keep walking and you'll find the actual resto around the corner. Much better atmosphere than the brightly lit cafe. So we basically ordered whatever the bday girl wanted, added some dishes for the kids, and then topped it off with whatever jumped out at the rest of us. I'm not gonna lie, I drank most of my dinner. 5/5 they hit it out of the park with this one. Perfect higher end after work, date night, special occasion restaurant specializing in apps/ family style dining from the team that brought us Pizza Antica across the way. I took my cousin who was visiting from Orange County and we both loved the ambiance, drinks, food and service. Everything we ordered was well seasoned and balanced. Recommend the salmon tartare, I was wary of the dill but it was so well seasoned with some yummy crunchy bits it kind of took me by surprise. Service was also outstanding from every member of the team from the hostess, our waitress, bussers and the manager stopped by to inquire how everything was going. I loved the rich and inviting decor. The restrooms were beautiful and very clean and private. Kind of a cherry on top that kept the entire experience high end. Prices were surprisingly reasonable, most of the larger apps were less than $30, would love if it stayed that way. Would also be a lovely place to stop by for an evening drink while out for holiday shopping! read more

Decided to check this spot out on a Friday afternoon. No wait! We started off with espresso martinis - they were well made! Between two, we shared the following - - Grilled flank steak: Steak was cooked to perfection. The chermoula is so good! Pinched a little salt over it and made it even better (salt is located at the table) - Clams cavatelli: Hand rolled cavatelli were cooked well. Great to pair with the steak. We asked for a side of chili flakes, added a nice little kick to it - Crushed roasted potatoes: They had a nice crunch on the outside, the crème dip that comes with it is good. We asked for a side of hot sauce too Everything was really good, including the service. Waiters were always attentive and came by often to check on us/refill our water cups. I'd want to come back to try some other stuff. Beautiful restaurant! Dined outside for my first time here - will need to check out the inside another time. There are heat lamps for outside dining. I came here for a friend's birthday. They sat us in a private room. The walls are a light blue velvet and the room had a beautiful chandelier. Service was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. The burger is amazing and the flank steak as well. Calamari is seared and grilled not breaded. It is a nice healthy twist. Drinks are delish, Lemon drop was the best I have had. They clarify the vodka and infuse lemon. There is a nice refreshing light gin drinker taste like a Cucumber mint refresher. My friend had a Long Iced Tea, which was clear as well, since the clarify it too. For dessert we tried the peach dessert, dark chocolate moose very light and not bitter, the fig cheesecake . read more

So this is second time I dine here. Last May was my first time I think. I ordered same dish, ($20)Grilled Calamari with Chickpeas room temperature salad. It's not as delicious as last year. I tried anticipated fried chickens with caviar($49) maybe over-rated. ($20 smth) Ground Beef Kefta. I had sparkling water and my friend got white wine. Total $140.
