I had a really great time dining at Selby's! We came here on a Thursday date night to try the bar and lounge side of the restaurant, and overall really enjoyed ourselves. Despite being a Michelin star restaurant, the whole experience was very accessible and warm without feeling overly expensive. (Especially on the bar side- see tips section) AMBIANCE: - The entire interior is both classy and modern. They pull off being elegant without being stuffy in any way. The fireplace in the main dining room, ceiling fixtures, and beautiful bar were nice visuals. FOOD & DRINK: - We tried the tuna tartare ($31,) mussels ($29) and two orders of the steak frites ($42 each.) - The steak frites was the star and cooked to perfection! My +1 said the mussels alone are substantial enough to make for a meal! - I also tried a Manhattan and it was delish! SERVICE: - The whole staff was super warm, polished, and professional. Several servers frequently checked in and took good care of us. Shout out to Lawrence! TIPS & NOTES: - If you make a reservation, note you will be making that for the dining room side (pre fixe menu- as of summer 2026 I believe it's $130pp.) - If you want to sit in the bar and lounge, note they have a separate menu, but you can also order a la carte from the pre fixe menu. Just arrive 15m before the restaurant opens to secure one of the 4 tables (or you'll wind up at the bar itself/waiting.) Overall, this was the perfect place for an elegant date night without completely breaking the bank! If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can also use your $150 credit here, which covers a lot on the bar/lounge side of the restaurant. Definitely stop by this place for an overall great dining experience!

My partner and I dined here on a Friday evening and we had a great dining experience. Our server was knowledgeable and was extremely attentive. The food on the other hand was ok. I think my favorite thing is the yellowfin tuna tartar, which was fresh. I got the roasted liberty duck, and even though the sauce was flavorful, I think the duck was a bit gamey and dry. My partner got the beef wellington, and it was def on the dryer side too. Overall, the dining experience was wonderful but I had higher expectation for the food.

Another great dinner experience at Selby's! During our second visit, our server, Suzanne, acknowledged our return and made the evening fantastic. She was personable, attentive, friendly, and fully engaged. Everyone on staff we interacted with met the same high standard. The interior has a classic fine-dining vibe with touches of modern elegance. During our first visit we sat in the lower dining room, and this time it was on the second floor. Both offer the same refined, well decored atmosphere. And the food was outstanding. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare which was bright, fresh, and perfectly seasoned and paired with chips. The Homemade Agnolotti were delicate pillows of rich, savory filling and topped with crispy parsnips to vary the texture of each bite. For mains, the Roasted Liberty Duck was cooked to tender perfection with crisp skin, and the Roasted Tai Snapper was flaky and flavorful, set off by a beautiful sauce. For dessert the Midnight Chocolate Cake is a musthave; decadent, and not too sweet. That's not all, there's also the amuse-bouche at the start of the meal, popovers with butter and tallow, and additional sweet treats after dessert. For my next visit I'll definitely need to try the Beef Wellington. I noticed a few other tables ordering it, and it looked delicious!

ANOTHER DELICIOUS MEAL HERE ON EASTER. Rubel delivered the best service and food was on point, as expected. We got to sit upstairs and it was very cozy!

We went there because of the chase SR card credit. Reservation is easy but parking is not. Either valet parking or street parking if you are lucky. Inside atmosphere is nice. However, I feel like there are many people and it's a bit loud for the dinner. Overall, service is good, food is not that special but still taste delicious.

With its elegant, old-school luxe environment, thoughtfully prepared New American cuisine, and impeccable service from start to finish, Selby's 1 Michelin star is indeed well-deserved. Of particular note, we asked the talented sommelier to create custom wine pairings for each dish, and he hit it out of the park without bankrupting us. ;) Pro tips: 1) take advantage of the complimentary valet parking to avoid neighborhood complications, and 2) don't hesitate to inform the restaurant staff if you're celebrating a special occasion as they will go all out! Our party of 2 enjoyed every bite of the following 3-course prix fixe menu options, with certain items carrying a reasonable surcharge: HANDMADE AGNOLOTTI Slowly Cooked Duck, Beurre Monté, Crispy Parsnips YELLOWFIN TUNA TARTARE Shio Koji Vinaigrette, Potato Chips RACK OF DURHAM RANCH VENISON Coffee-Glazed Fairytale Pumpkin, Natural Jus BEEF WELLINGTON (we added Broccolini as an extra cost accompaniment, and our gracious server threw in Truffle Fries as a bonus) SPICED-APPLE TART Hazelnut Frangipane, Dulcey Chocolate Ganache MIDNIGHT CHOCOLATE CAKE Salted Caramel, Fudge Sauce

Large dark interior in what looks like an old converted home. Felt a lot like a high-end steakhouse. Service is top-notch and very attentive. The food is rich and dense - you won't leave hungry! Definitely don't fill up on the delicious bread! Everything I tried from truffle fries, tuna tartare, beef wellington, chocolate, cake, was delicious and meticulously prepared. Free valet parking so easy in and out!

Selby's is a Michelin star restaurant and honestly one of the more affordable ones you'll find in the Bay Area. Just keep in mind the food is more on the traditional American side - think elevated comfort rather than the super intricate or elaborate dishes you'd see at some of the Michelin spots in SF. The base menu is reasonably priced, but if you're adding wine and going for the supplemental dishes like we did, it can add up more than you'd expect. Parking can be tough, so if you have a later reservation I'd suggest doing the complimentary valet. If you are one of the first few seatings, there may be street parking within a block or so. As for the inside, it is on the darker side but it is nice and they have music playing in the background. Service was great - we had Stanley (I believe that was his name). He gave us good recommendations for white and red wine pairings based on what we chose for our appetizer and entrees. There were some specials going on the day we dined, which made the overall meal more enjoyable - they had lobster ravioli (+$10) and veal filet/striploin (+$16). I was also able to taste some of my wife's petite filet - it was good and the filet was quite tasty but it was definitely slightly chewier than my veal. My veal sauce was also better as there was truffle in it. I wasn't the biggest fan of the veal sides though, as it was farro and asparagus compared to the mushrooms and potato with the filet. Dessert was great though. We got the sticky toffee and the midnight chocolate cake. Sticky toffee was moist but still had a slight chew to it. The cranberry orange compote was interesting, but can't say it's my favorite combination. Chocolate cake was very moist and not too sweet, and was a pretty big slice as well. This was great. One thing worth noting - we did not receive an amuse bouche, despite noticing that the tables around us did. We weren't celebrating a special occasion, but we did order 4-5 glasses of wine and both supplemental dishes, so it was a bit surprising to be passed over. Not sure if there's a specific reason for it, but something worth noting.

We had a great dinner at Selby. It has that old-school, fancy restaurant vibe -- dim lighting, a cozy fireplace in the dining room -- the kind of place that feels special without trying too hard. The menu is a $125 fixed price and includes an appetizer, main, and dessert with the option to add supplements if you want to splurge a bit more. For apps, we chose the chestnut velouté and the handmade agnolotti. Both were good, but we agreed the velouté was the better of the two. We went with the filet and the venison, and both proteins were cooked beautifully. The only miss for us was the pumpkin side with the venison -- it had that stringy, scooped-out pumpkin innards texture, which just wasn't our favorite. Now the real star? The chocolate cake. It was AMAZING. Our server mentioned they rotate their desserts, except for the chocolate cake because it's such a hit -- and after trying it, we totally get why. Definitely worth saving room for. We also got the cremeaux de citeaux (cheese) which was superb. The toast were thin and crunchy, the cheese was super creamy like a triple cream brie, and the strawberries brightened up the dish as a nice contrast to the richness of the cheese.

$130 set, had the fava bean soup, duck and passion fruit tart. My husband had the endive salad, petit filet and chocolate cake. They were all delicious. Nice romantic ambiance and good service. Slightly small in portion but it's a Michelin star restaurant so it is what it is

A little surprised to see the mixed reviews for Selby's. I visited on New Year's Day 2026 with an OpenTable reservation to use the Chase Sapphire Reserve $150 dining credit and blown away by the hospitality, food, and overall experience. Food Price: $125 prix fixe per person (additional supplements noted). White Truffle from Alba, Italy A seasonal special served with 3 grams of white truffle, tagliatelle camembert, tagliatelle pasta, and freshly shaved parmigiano-reggiano. It was divided into two portion sizes for two adults. Definitely worth the extra splurge and was a separate cost from the pre-fixed menu. Pommes Frites Classic French fries with housemade spicy aioli and ketchup. It was crispy and served fresh. This was also a separate cost from the pre-fixed menu. Popovers with Butter (Complimentary) Warm, airy popovers that had a crispy exterior with a light, fluffy filling and served with a side butter. Pasta (Complimentary) This dish was an al dente stuffed pasta with a creamy cheese filling, specifically prepared for the toddler in my party. Asian Pear & Belgian Endive Salad Cavatina cheese, date vinaigrette, bite-sized spheres of Asian pear, and candied walnuts. Light, balanced, and refreshing like a palette cleanser. Yellowfin Tuna Tartare Served with Shio Koji vinaigrette and crisp potato chips. Refreshing flavors and very easily shareable. Flannery Ribeye, Dry-Aged (14 oz.) Cooked medium rare and perfectly tender, for someone who isn't a huge steak eater. It had a lightly seasoned crust and great flavor. Captain's Chicken Vandouvan, forbidden rice, smoked bacon, and Marcona almonds. Tender, flavorful, and still moist even as leftovers, which was an excellent option. Sticky Toffee Pudding Served with cranberry-orange compote and thyme ice cream. A bit on the sweeter side, but enjoyable if you like this type of dessert. Midnight Chocolate Cake Three rich layers with mascarpone cream, chocolate fudge, hazelnuts, and edible gold flakes that was not overly sweet. Neapolitan Ice Cream Sandwich (Complimentary) A circular chocolate-dusted ice cream sandwich offered as a nice gesture for the special occasion. Housemade Caramels (Complimentary) Soft, chewy, and a nice way to end the meal. Ambiance The restaurant and bar are dimly lit. It was elegant, but a bit too dark for photos or reading the menu. The seating options include standard tables, cushioned booths with accent pillows, and second-floor dining area. Customer Service Service was outstanding from beginning to end. Complimentary valet at both the front and back entrances. There's an option to tip with cash or the Venmo sticker with a QR code. The staff greeted us immediately and helped take photos before and after seating us. Stanley, who was my server, was exceptional, knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly thoughtful. Despite managing multiple tables, he frequently checked-in, took group photos of my party, and even packed extra mascarpone and chocolate fudge to go with our dessert. Highly recommend requesting for him if you plan to dine here.

Service was impeccable and food was delicious. Their wine list is very extensive. I told them I was the designated driver so my friend can enjoy their offerings. They came back with my own non-alcoholic sparking grape juice so I can also have something festive to drink. That was a very thoughtful touch. Our water glasses were never less than half full. Each dish was explained when it was brought out. Overall, I look forward to coming back in the future.

I don't go to fine dining that often unless it's a special occasion, but I had the honor of using my CSR dining credit here on on Dec 30th/NYE (I can't remember exactly which date). I called prior to coming to see if I'm able to be on the waitlist, and unfortunately you have to be there in person to put it down. The estimated wait time was 3-4 hrs, but I got there around 7:30pm, and waited 1 hr for a table for 2 at the bar area. We got lucky, because I almost gave up waiting that long, but there's a target nearby to kill some time. As for parking, valet is free but please tip them, or you can be like me and park in the neighborhood area. When sitting at the bar, there is a bar menu that is a la carte, and the dining room menu that could also be ordered a la carte. Items got: -complimentary truffle popcorn -truffle burger (split in half) -chicken parm (WOULDN'T RECOMMEND) -steak and frites -mussels (came with toasted sourdough bread, 2 pieces) -their famous chocolate mousse cake The server was so kind to ask if we want our burger to be split! It wasn't the best burger I had, but was eyecatching as it's a "truffle" burger. I'd rate this a 6.5/10. The steak and frites was my favorite! I am a sucker for fries and the steak was amazing. Mussels were also the highlight of the night, and the juice from it was good. The chicken parm was not good. I highly don't recommend and it's not a popular item here either. Popcorn was typical, and wasn't special because of the truffle seasoning. Lastly, the chocolate mousse cake was to die for! Absolutley loved it. Overall, if you plan on using your CSR credit, you don't need a reservation on Open Table. You can simply walk in. Would I come back? Maybe! For the steak frites, cake, and mussels, yeah! Service was good, like any other fine dining. Everyone still had a great attitude despite it being a super busy night. Clean restrooms!

Herb Crusted Lamb done perfectly medium rare. With a glass of Barolo. Gotta love a Nebbiolo! And a popover for scooping up the Au jus.

    Ask the Community - Selby's

How much for a kid to have the dinner?

Menu price, as it should be. I suppose you could talk with them about 'the kid' to have a single entree. A babysitter about the same an hour.

Is Beef Wellington/main dinner menu offered at the bar?

    Yes it is

    How much is Velvet Parking?

'Free' but on the Peninsula a $10 -20 tip is typical especially for this place. Impress your date!!! And really once you've paid for dinner the tip is a small piece of your evening.

    Is there a dress code?

Not sure if there is a dress code, but definitely not a place to show up in causal clothes. I would say smart casual is the right level of dress.

    What is the typical attire?

    Formal

Do you have baked Alaska dessert?

    not on their current menu

Do they have good vegetarian options?

    Yes!

    Is there any outdoor seating?

No, they don't have outdoor seating

    Does the restaurant allow children?

I went there twice, but not seeing any infant. I recall the youngest I saw was around 6-9 years old.

Is the corkage really $50.00/bottle and is it waived if you purchase a bottle from their list?

As of Jan 2024, the wine menu says: THE CORKAGE FEE IS $65 PER 750ML BOTTLE.

Definitely worth getting the umami fries as they were seasoned to perfection. A perfect starting side! Horsefeather is a perfect brunch spot to stop by and try in this Old Town and Country Palo Alto plaza. I have never heard of this chain nor in their other locations before and was definitely satisfied afterwards with their great dishes and their aesthetically modern decorated interior. The dishes here are American so you'd get what you typically get for breakfast from scrambles to French Toast, and we ordered the French Toast, the Chicken and Waffles, and a Salad during our visit here. All of what was ordered was perfect and beautifully plated upon arrival and out of all that was ordered, I have to say the chicken and waffles with their matcha butter & syrup was their standout dish. I have never seen matcha infused with butter but it was perfect and complimented the waffle just right. The chicken was fried and juicy inside and the waffle in general was toasted with just the right amount of crisp on the outside and soft interior. French Toast was a definite close contender too, where the toast was still gooey soft as expected and served with syrup & cream on the side. Salad was good but nothing too extraordinary about it. The staff here were all very nice and on a busy lunch day, I was surprised & pretty sure just lucky was able to get a table in less than 10 min on a Sunday. For weekend brunch, Horsefeather is a perfect spot to visit & enjoy the pre-afternoon before enjoying Palo Alto. Our favorites were the kimchi deviled eggs, the miso linguini pasta, and the yuzu dessert. One thing I did notice was the seating arrangement. I had seen another Yelp review mentioning that they were seated right next to another party despite the restaurant being mostly empty, and we had a similar experience. Even with plenty of open tables, we were seated directly beside another group, making it easy to hear each other's conversations. It wasn't a huge issue, but a little more spacing would have made the dining experience feel more comfortable. Overall, the food and service were great.

Parking is plentiful on surface streets and surface lots surrounding the restaurant. Dining is available both indoors or on the patio outdoors. Service by the uniformed waiter was fine throughout the evening. Started off with the cornbread and it was ok. The cornbread seems to have been baked and kept in the warmer as it was starting to dry out. The dry aged NY steak was requested medium rare and turned out more like a medium well after sitting on the table for a bit... The NY Steak had a robust meaty flavor. The side of potatoes and char were great. The campanelle pasta was tasty although the pasta may have been a touch over-cooked as the pasta was no longer al dente. There were plenty of mushrooms. The mushroom side dish was rich and rather heavy. The highlight of the evening was the milk jam pudding which was a lighter way to finish off a rather heavy and bold-flavored dinner. ~$110/head after tax and gratuity.

It's so soft and with the butter melting on it it's just the perfect texture and a little sweet. I could eat a whole loaf of this. Must get. The sesame pancakes reminded me of a chinese dish. The avocado and salmon dip was interesting! I didn't expect that. It took some getting used to. The yellowfin rice was good, though raw fish being warm is a little weird to me. I don't think this is a must get. I liked the flavors otherwise. The octopus was one of my favorites. I loved the sauce for it and the jalapeños were a nice touch! The pork chop was one of my favorites as well!! I love how it was experimented with peaches; I'd never think to try those together but it works. The short rib steak was amazing! It's suuuper tender and I'm still thinking about it. Though I probably wouldn't eat it with the green beans; it didn't seem to go well together but it did with the mushrooms. The service is great here; they even took a napkin that was hung on my chair and folded it neatly onto the table again. I wish the portion sizes were bigger here overall, when you share with four people you're only getting like a bite each and for the prices even though it's a fancier place I'd expect to get a litttleee more (i've seen other fancy places have bigger sizes)

Flea Street is featured in the Michelin guide. Our waitress was phenomenal the entire evening, being very sweet and attentive. She was quite talented too! ;) Meal started off with the complimentary biscuit, served with a side of beautiful butter, salt, as well as a piece of carrot. This was decent as the biscuit was merely lukewarm. The lamb chop as a snack was quite tasty. These were sold per piece and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The farmers salad, dungeness crab cake, as well as the cured trout small plates were all quite tasty. Loved how premium and light the farmer's salad was. The dungeness crab cake was super light and tasty too! The cured trout was excellent with the homemade potato chips! The cioppino was gigantic and perfect for sharing. It featured a ton of premium seafood, from clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp, as well as a couple pieces of black cod fish along with a few pieces of toasted bread! Finished off the meal with an apple galette which was tasty and served with a scoop of ice cream which was surprisingly a touch lacklustre... The meal ended off with a couple chocolate dipped strawberries. ~$130/head after 20% service charge and 3% employer benefits surcharge.

After checking in, we were informed that the entire party had to be present before we could be seated. While waiting, I ordered a drink at the bar and enjoyed the beautiful rooftop terrace. The deep cushioned seating, combined with views of Stanford University, the Woodside hills, and the surrounding skyline, created a memorable setting for a special occasion. The dining room is airy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. The glass roof allows plenty of natural light without the harsh glare, making the space comfortable and inviting. The menu is fairly straightforward and not particularly unique, though prices are definitely premium. Sandwiches range from about $24 to $58, and the mini lobster or crab rolls are $20 each. For our group of five, we ordered three lobster rolls, lamb chops, two Caesar salads, two orders of oysters, honey-glazed salmon, sweet potatoes, truffle fries, a gem salad, and several drinks and glasses of wine. Unfortunately, neither the kitchen nor the table service lived up to expectations. Our starters arrived, followed by most of the entrees, but the kitchen completely forgot both Caesar salads. We asked about them twice. By the time they finally arrived, the salads were soggy and lacked the freshness you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. RH Rooftop delivers a stunning setting and is an undeniably beautiful place for a celebration. However, for a restaurant positioned as a luxury dining experience, I expected the food and service to match the spectacular surroundings. While everything looked impressive, the meal itself felt average and the service lacked the attention to detail expected at this price point. In the end, I left feeling that I had paid for the atmosphere rather than the dining experience.

Wow. Could not have been happier with the food!…read more Will present the food in the order I would recommend: Banana fritters- soft clouds of fried dough, over some rum dark chocolate sauce. Divine! 7/5 Curry cauliflower over a red non spicy sauce. Refreshing! The flavors blended together with the flavorful but not overpowering flavor, with the well balanced sauce underneath. Could not stop eating it. $17 8/5 Mezze plate - the coconut feta was very creamy and good, I really enjoyed the pomegranate arugula salad with pickled onion and with the pieces of falafel inside. The flatbread was a little hard, but good. The eggplant was good and hummus also good. $32 price a little steep for the platter 6/5 Impossible cheeseburger - classic impossible burger. The standout item was the fries, quite good! Crisp outside and soft inside. 5/5 French toast - ok, a little dry, the berry sauce was good but lacking a little dynamic flavor maybe some citrus? 3/5 Cookie with vegan ice cream. Alas, pastries are still difficult to make well vegan 3/5 Service was a little distracted and hard to order. Bussing was very on top of it. I will return for the top items

It was stuffed with sour lettuce instead. 2/5 Corn pizza - That coconut mozz was not it for me. 3/5 Chicken sandwich - Solid. Drinks were good! What's up Doc was my fave. Located in the corner of the plaza next to CVS. Good service.
