Horrifying experience. Rudest owner/manager ever!!!! He insulted our group of 12...6 young girls and us parents who went to eat there during a break in the girl's local dance competition. When we asked him not to worry about keeping our group together but rather to split us up to expedite service, he told us the quickest service was to go to McDonald's!! Others entering diner were quickly being seated while he kept us standing at the door as he argued with our group leader. We just walked out....meals on the table. The staff is totally unresponsive and inattentive. I accidentally spilled my cup of coffee and was given complete attitude by the staff who had to clean it up. When our waitress finally came over I had to ask her for another cup of coffee. She giggled ??? Half the table was wiped the other half wasn't. I had to ask for more napkins because the staff used my napkins to clean up the spilled cup of coffee. We asked to speak to the manager who then came over with the most major attitude his name is Billy. I never see Billy there so apparently the normal manager was off today. Billy gave us attitude from the minute he came over. Billy asked why we were looking at him in his face he's not used to having people interact ??? Billy made 100 excuses why the staff was so rude and unresponsive... he said "we're busy"...So I guess you should leave someone with a whole cup of coffee spilled on the table to wait. I have been going to this diner for over 40 years. I went there as a child with my grandmother after church. But today, I saw the cashier place a water bottle full of orange juice or something like it in the ice chest where they draw ice to put in peoples drinks. She had just come in from outside, hadn't washed her hands and drank from it. I said something to the manager, who brushed it off. We've been going here for over 30 years, but the last few years it's service and food have been going downhill. The menu has shrunk to 1/3 of what it once was. Other than breakfast and burgers the food is lousy. It seems like the owners don't care anymore. We got seafood scampi over angel hair and the sauce was milky, not scampi, the pasta was overcooked and the seafood had a strong smell to it. This used to be my go to Diner when I lived in Babylon. Used to come here like 2-3 times a week. Place has really good burgers, with a lot of different choices. Also good appetizers and pasta. Atlantis is an exceptional diner , and my rating is really 4 1/2 stars . I stopped by yesterday after a long , bracing walk towards Democrat Point on Fire Island , tired and totally exhausted . Although I live 12 miles away in North Seaford , I got off Robert Moses Causeway just to unwind here . My young waitress was a honey , very polite and considerate , quickly attending to everything I needed and wanted . The huge fried scallops I knew I would order were excellent , as was the fresh salad and bread . Admittedly , soups in diners can be problematical ( I read some other reviews ) , so I never order them at any diner . Atlantis does cater to locals , as do most diners , which does have plusses and minuses . Knowing it catered to a beach and boating crowd , I felt comfortable adjusting my boots here ( with my waitresses permission ) , something I can't remember ever doing elsewhere , and a plus after a long , cold walk on a windswept beach . Management is especially cozy with familiar faces , but that is the same at every diner . Again , this is not a fancy establishment ( albeit pricey ) , but as diners go , you can't beat it .........especially after a long jaunt on a cold beach ! read more

I love their potato skins and matzo ball soup, no matter what I get for lunch/dinner, I always get the skins or soup. I'd highly recommend this diner and have.. This is my go to for a good take out meal. I order the full dinner specials and even when they don't have one of my favorite specials on the menu, they will make t for me anyway! Desserts are delicious! My only complaint/warning to others who order takeout is to double check your to go order before you leave. On occasion they have forgotten a side or two. This place is the worst. A group of nurses and myself order from here at night and also have gone for sit down for breakfast. About eight of us went for pancakes and waffles and were SSHHHED by the manager, had to beg for hot coffee, the service was slow and they clearly tried to neglect us into leaving. On another occasion we ordered pick up and the waitress forgot a sandwich- called to see if we could pick one up and she scolded me telling me I never ordered it- even though the sweet potato fries we ordered with it did come. I asked to speak to the manager who handed me back to the waitress who then said the kitchen was closed. I feel bad writing a poor review for a place where I've had many great experiences in the past, unfortunately the same can't be said for last night. On a Sunday night, a few of my family members who were from out of town, drove out to us for a bite to eat. Asking us for a recommendation we picked the Atlantis Diner. We got there around 645ish, and it was surprisingly not as busy as you'd expect on a Sunday evening. We were seated promptly and placed our drink orders in a timely fashion, that's about where the positives end. For four meals, it took at least 20 minutes to a half hours to receive them, but that wasn't the problem. One of my relatives ordered a chicken gyro and the other ordered pork souvlaki, both of which were horrible. They both came out smelling like fajitas. The gyro had veggies in it, which seems a bit odd, considering most gyros have some red onion, some lettuce and maybe some cucumber. It didn't look like a gyro at all! The souvlaki was even worse. The pork was dry and had hard knuckles in it. It smelt and as well as looked like a fajita on top of pita. The other two dishes were okay, nothing worth writing home about. The entire time we were there our waitress only came by once, maybe twice to see if everything was alright and if we needed refills. When a comment was made about the souvlaki, the waitress informed us that she does receive comments from other guests, that the Greek food tends to come out differently than what they expected. Normally I'd recommend this place hands down, but I guess if you plan on getting Greek food, find some where else to go. read more

The worst service I've ever received in a diner. Walked in and got eyeballed by the lady at the register. Someone else walked me and my friend to our table. I said 'thank you', she walked away .. I said 'thanks' louder and this time she mumbled something, made no eye contact and walked away. We sat for 20 mins while the tables around us got served and another group got seated and began to get waited on before we had even been offered anything to drink. We got up and walked out. I was an hour early for a doctor appointment next store and starved so I decided to go in with my husband for a quick breakfast. I used to come here when I was growing up, with my family because our house wasn't to far away. I noticed they redid the place (diner style gaudy of course) but very nice. It was clean and bright and I always liked the view from in here for some reason. They had a nice ginger tea and it renewed me because I was feeling a little nausea yesterday when I arrived. They have a nice, concise breakfast menu and the prices are very reasonable for a diner. The food was good- I got eggs over easy, rye toast and bacon. All was good. It did take a good 20 minutes to come out and being that we were one of three tables filled I thought that was a bit lengthy but it wasn't horrible we were talking so it was ok. Overall its a nice stop for a diner breakfast and I enjoyed it and felt way better after I left. read more

Wonderful service, and really good food! I ordered the Mediterranean salad--very tasty and well cooked chicken. Our waitress was the best though. She was extremely energetic and had a great personality. It felt like an authentic diner experience, and she was fairly patient. The rest of my family ordered burgers which looked decent. Now, the reason it's rated so low is solely because the attitudes and poor customer service i've not only observed but experienced at this diner. I placed an order for pickup and they made me feel like I was a nuiscance, when I went to pick it up I got a poor attitude and services from a rather unfriendly manager (guy in suit).. He seemed annoyed or angry at me for ordering food take out or something ? I was confused. Never will give this place another dime of my hard earned money because anyone that makes you feel uncomfortable and unwanted for spending money at THEIR establishment truly doesn't deserve it. Shame though because wait staff and food is great.. Note to the guy in suit, relax.. Don't act mad and surprised people are ordering food while your open, it's your job right? Watch your check! They charge you more than the menu price ! It happened to me twice. Six months ago I ordered Poached Salmon- Menu price $19.99. They charged me $24.99 on the check.The manager apologized and said there was a problem with their computer system with some salmon dinners.Fast forward to last week..ordered Stuffed Salmon- $19.99 on menu and AGAIN was charged $24.99. The other night I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Salad and a Burger Platter to pick up on my way home from work. My husband's burger was fine but my salad had many rotten, decomposing pieces of black slimy lettuce mixed in with the good lettuce. At first I thought it was just some bad pieces at the top and picked them off, then realized it was all throughout the salad as shown in the picture. It would be hard for whoever put the salad in the tin not to notice! It was much too gross to eat. I normally would not post a bad review on Yelp but I did because I was treated so poorly when I called up to notify them. The manager took my phone number and had a woman call me back who did not believe me. I told her most of the bad pieces were the red lettuce mixed in, she said there is no such thing as red lettuce and you must mean radishes! I asked if they could deliver me a new fresh salad but she said no, you have to come here because we need to see the salad first. I told her I am not driving back out to you, if you don't believe me I can text or email you a picture so you can see it. She said there is nothing else I can do. So I hung up. I'm so surprised they didn't go to the kitchen and look at the rest of this mixed lettuce. My tin couldn't be the only one with all the rotten pieces in it. I could overlook a bad day with a bad salad but the lack of service or caring and the attitude I received was shocking. read more

This rating is strictly based on Breakfast, Service & Cleanliness. I have been coming to have breakfast at Atlantis for a while and I can honestly say it is much better than Peter Pan. Pancakes are fluffy and delicious and home fries have a nice color and are flavorful (unlike peter pans). Service is also always attentive, host seats you as soon as you walk in and the kitchen gets the food out in great time. Definitely recommend this diner for breakfast! read more

I've eaten here a few times and it was decent. Last night we ordered gyros to go and I can easily say it was the worst gyro I've ever had. First of all, they don't make it with lamb. You can get either beef or chicken. I went with the chicken. When I got home and opened the container I was surprised to find that the pita was toasted, there were peppers and onions sautéed together inside the gyro and warm tomato. The combination made the pita all soggy. The chicken was extremely dry. There was nothing good about it. I've never gotten a gyro with peppers in it, or with the onions sautéed. Usually it's raw onion, lettuce and tomato on a fresh soft pita. For $15 I was disappointed to say the least. read more

I went to Atlantis diner today 7/27 for breakfast. Ordered two omelette's/egg white. wanted to substitute tomatoes for potatoes. They charge $1.00 extra for substitute. OK....My friend ordered eggwhite with Turkey, Spinach and swiss ...when order came my omelette was yellows-had to redo and did not receive toast. Our bill was $36.00! They charged my friend 15.95 for his omelette. They bang you extra for anything that is out of the norm. their are too many good diners in our village and beyond to ever pay for this diner. I did bring this up with the cashier- not sure if he was owner but very rude. Take my advise- stay away from this diner. Spend your money on an eating establishment that will treat you well, get your order correct and would try to make some effort to make sure you are a happy customer. read more
