Stopped by Oconee to grab some dinner. They still had their July 4th decor up so it was very bright with flags everywhere. Our waiter was nice and gave us some good suggestions while we decided what to have for dinner. I was feeling for breakfast food so I got the pancakes, eggs and sausage. The pancakes were soooo good and made just how i like them, thin with crispy edges. We also got beef stew, which was yummy and filled up with so much meat, potatoes and veg. I enjoyed my meal and would def go back! read more

Base my reviews off what you pay: *Place was busy, not packed. Went at 10PM on a Friday. Price - $40 (appetizer, entree, tip) Food - 2/5 - underwhelming for a diner. Service - 4/5 - went above whats needed. Ambiance - 4/5 - nice vibe and decorated nicely. Overall - 3/5 - ok spot. Service and ambiance were better than expected but food was sub par. Food was pretty lackluster even for a diner. Onion rings were ok, chicken tenders were like every other cheap restaurants. Ordered the Chinese pork roast sandwich and was a total disappointment. Also did not give extras like other diners do. Only saving grace was Banana Silver Dollar pancakes. Service did go above, water was always full, chef and waiter helped get us an order they don't normally do. They went above what was needed. Inside was decorated really nicely, felt very festive and upbeat. Was not expecting that. If food wasn't sub par, would definitely be worth a stop. Best Dish - Banana Silver Dollar Pancakes Would Return - Potentially read more

The Oconee diner is one of a kind but also a classic Long Island diner at the same time. The food was great, the service was friendly and super fast & the inside is always fully decorated for the season. It's worth the trip just to see what kind of ambiance they'll have that month! As far as diners go this is one of the best. A five star experience. read more

Oconee Diner is a classic Long Island staple! From the employees to the decor to the food, everything there is amazing. The menu is over six pages long with everything you can imagine. The decorations alone make the place worth a visit as every inch of space is covered. I've never had a bad experience there, there's a reason they are always crowded!! read more

I wasn't a fan the first time I visited a few years ago and it was just as unenjoyable this time around. The meals were too salty, lacked flavor, and were overall unappealing. It seems many like it here though so I wish them well with their loyal patrons. This place just isn't for me. read more

Great diner experience, boosted by the outstanding (and over the top) decorations for Independence Day. We went on a Sunday morning around 10, were seated immediately with menus, had hot coffee about 60 seconds later. Food was good with (probably much too) huge portions. Waiter was great, personable, and frequently checking to make sure we were good. read more

Who wants Christmas in February? I'm sure plenty of people, though my review of Oconee Diner has nothing to do with the shortest month of the year. Travel back to a few days before Christmas 2024 and you'll find myself, my wife, and our friends (with their three kids) snuggled in a booth having a pretty enjoyable first time experience at Oconee. I say pretty enjoyable because like any LI diner on a Sunday morning, the place is usually hopping. The same can be said about Oconee on this December 22nd date, but add in the biggest reason to come here (more on that in a sec) and the crowds just grow from there. Despite the masses and overflow of people in the waiting area, we still snagged a table right when we got in. The place never stopped that bustling feeling, but the service was quick and it wasn't overly loud which was helpful to the three kids all under 10. Though mentioning those little ones is why we came to Oconee as it was our treat to them in getting to experience a good reason why this place gets crowded: the decorations. Oconee goes all out with hanging shimmering Christmas items all along its ceilings and walls. Closeup it's actually a bit kitschy, but looking at an overview, it's rather beautiful (and most importantly the kids liked it!). The same could be said about what they ate (the oldest of the three said it was the best meal ever), though adults can be harder to please. Our friends had mixed feelings on their food, though I'll say my wife and I enjoyed what we shared. Like any diner, the menu runs the gamut of what to order so picking tried and true choices tends to work. Hence why our cheese and sausage omelet was pretty tasty. Strawberry and chocolate chip pancakes probably sound somewhat safe too (and they were), though they were almost more "cake" than pancake with their yellowy, fluffy texture. Different, but enjoyable nonetheless. Overall, Oconee Diner was a solid experience with diner food that's going to mostly hit the mark (depending on what you order). It's not right around the corner from my wife and I so I don't foresee us returning regularly with closer diner options nearby, but during December there's a definite chance we'll go again especially if we do indeed want to get an extra zing of Christmas spirit. Now if they did keep up their decor all year, perhaps a trip (not in February) but July would be fun. Hmm. read more

Beautifully decorated all year round. The food is freshly made, the service is good and fast, the menu gives a ton of choices, prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. There's one thing that makes this place one of the top spots in Long Island in my opinion: acoustics!!! Imagine, the conversations are in a normal tone of voice and the dinning room is crowded! This is a feature only found in the most exclusive restaurants in the world. GENIUS! read more

We had a great breakfast here! We have three kids under 2 and the staff were so kind and attentive. Other places get spooked seeing our young kids but the staff fawned over them. The diner is decorated to the max for spring and it's so fun. My son had the best pancakes I've ever had and the sausage links were spectacular. My corn beef hash was great as well! Coffee was brewed perfectly. We'll definitely be back. read more

Everything was amazing from the friendly staff to the quality food. The portions were out of control, and the diner is wonderfully lit and decorated. It was crowded, all the diners were happy and conversing with the staff. From babies to senior citizens, everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal and having a good experience. Everyone was super attentive but in a very good and friendly way, not in an annoying bother us every three minutes way we were seated immediately and had multiple people taking care of our table, bringing fresh bread immediately and drinks and they really know what they are doing. read more

Regular diner food. Good service. Atmosphere very frenetic. Over decorated and tvs on with sound all over. Can get crowded. Too much for me.

I recently purchased an egg sandwich on a roll with three eggs. bacon, and extra cheese. The sandwich cost me $20 with tax.. I will never go back as I don't like to be robbed the sandwich was good.. but you can get excellent egg sandwiches at Stanley's Bakery and Leggios in Bay Shore for a lot less money... Average diner food with 10 star decorations for Christmas. We came here after seeing a glowing review on News 12. My pregnant wife and toddler really enjoyed the festive decorations. It was all done very nicely. But the service was so slow. Our waiter seemed disinterested and annoyed. He only came to our table to check on us once and I had to flag him down to bring the check. (lost one star) The host was really very nice, and upon leaving, gave my daughter a big black and white cookie and two lollipops. I ordered the french onion soup, which was standard diner french onion soup. I also had the lamb gyro which was excellent. Wife ordered chicken fingers with fries. I had one of her chicken fingers, I would say it was less than average. read more

First time at the famous Oconee diner and super glad I got to visit during the Christmas season! Upon arriving, holiday inflatables greet you outside with Christmas music. Super festive! "WOW" is the only way I can describe the inside. You need to see for yourself! I thought our party of six would need to wait for a table on a Sunday night but they took us right away. Everyone loved their food. I ordered chicken fingers and fries. Fries could have been a little better but still good nonetheless. Service was great. We had some dessert and were sent off with cookies! read more

No matter what holiday it is, or in between them, this is an excellent diner on Long Island! They are always decked out in decorations (roof to lawn...ceiling to tables) that will put you in the holiday spirit. Service is always great...fast, friendly, efficient servers, chefs that know how to cook, etc. The food is large portions, so expect to bring home leftovers. We have tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner...all are great, never a disappointment. Btw, they know how to cook eggs, I know that can be a deal breaker. read more

Better than most diners for food and service. 1 star deducted for absolutely awful handicapped ramp; steeper than Mount Everest with NO weather protection. I saw this place on Insta around Christmas beautifully decorated. We only just got around to getting in on Valentines! It was beautifully decorated for the occasion. It was unexpectedly busy! We were greeted and seated quickly. Our waitress was on point and friendly. Each staff member had a hearts included on their shirts. A sweet touch. They also advertised a full bar so we dabbled with a rum and Coke and a magnificent Strawberry Daiquiri! A pleasant surprise was a basket of bread with some kind of cheese center and butter (fresh)! For dinner we for BLT TRIPLE stacked, a single stack and a cheese quesadilla. All came with fries. Everything came out warm and delicious. Can't wait to come back! read more

The four star reviews must be from costumer service because that's the only thing this place has to offer. I order the corned beef has with eggs and a side of sausage. The hash was basically dog food, mushy and unflavored. The eggs were the only thing g worth being in the plate. The potatoes were stale and over boiled and the sausage well...the picture speaks for itself. read more

Was in the area and came for a quick breakfast with my fam! It's a very festive diner with lots and lots of decorations. It was very crowded but still for a booth and the service was quick and efficient. The restaurant itself was so warm it was uncomfortable. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Smelled bad and dirty. This did not coincide with the dining room which was very clean. We ordered a spinach and feta omelette, an artichoke and mozzarella omelette, two over easy eggs, and a tuna triple decker sandwich. The food was very good. The omelettes were very good. The tuna, typical tuna you get from the diner. The over easy eggs were average. The Coleslaw that came with the tuna was too watery. The portions were decent but the prices were high. I'd come here again if I'm the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way. If you do come here, stop somewhere else to use the restrooms. read more

As far as diners goes, this was a very cool one. The decor is out of this world! I came here around the end of March, and the place was decked out in Easter decoration galore. I haven't been to a diner in years! So glad we decided to go to Oconee East Diner for dinner. Lots of booths to sit at. They even have a few stools like the old diners! They have a huge selection to choose from. I went with chicken parmigiana. Others at my table went with the Greek options. I was very impressed with the portions. Finally a restaurant that feeds you! I was certainly stuffed when I left. Every table gets rolls, crackers, and butter. Wish I had room for desert but it just wasn't happening. I wish my photos saved because it would have provided you with the vibe of the restaurant. Coming back north after so many years it was so fitting to go to this diner. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. read more

We came for breakfast on New Year's Eve. We came for the spectacular decorations they display year 'round. Christmas decorations did not disappoint. They decorate every square inch of the place! It's so beautiful! The place was crowded but it's so big we were seated immediately. We were given menus and water when we sat down. The waitresses were all super busy running around like crazy. It took some time for our waitress to get to us understandably. When she did she was so friendly. Our food came pretty quickly. The kitchen must be well staffed and efficient. We ordered mimosas to start. They were perfect. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette with home fries. It was cooked perfectly with a generous amount of ham and cheese. The home fries were fresh and delicious. The overall vibe is fun. It seems like a local place where everyone knows each other. Would def come back to see displays for another holiday! read more

We have been going to Oconee for as long as I can remember. Today we were very disappointed. My fiance ordered a cheese burger deluxe. It was like a hockey puck, 1 slice of fake American cheese. I ordered a triple decker chicken salad. It was so dry and the bread was as thin as a saltine. The waiter had an attitude. I can understand the chef being off but to be honest they have been going downhill the last year or so. Don't know if anyone else has had issues. read more

Visit Date: Mother's Day 2022 I came here on Mother's Day 2022 after work with my boyfriend and my son for dinner. I had pancakes which were delicious but I don't remember much details about them they may have been chocolate chip. This diner is decked out for the holidays and there are so many trees and plants out front it's something to see. The wait staff is very nice as well. If I worked here though I'd probably jump off a bridge having to repeatedly here the music they play. It's not bad music but if I had to hear it 8 hours a day I don't think I'd be able to deal. So waiters and waitresses of the oconee I give you credit for having to go a full shift with the older music. I do love this diner though and would definitely come back again. read more
