This diner does get pretty busy, but the atmosphere is great. Not a lot of kids screaming. First things first, the coffee was good. Your standard coffee. I like the fact they have a person specifically to serve coffee to everybody that has a cup. The service was very good as well. The waitress Vikki did a great job. They're very quick to give you your food and water first. My friend had the bruschetta avocado toast. I had the avocado, cheddar, and tomato omelette with home fries. 1. The bruschetta avocado toast: They're too generous with the balsamic glaze. They need to lighten it up so you can enjoy the rest of the ingredients. Anything balsamic is typically a strong flavor as a small amount. The avocado, mozzarella and tomato are too heavy for the bread. They should try a more sturdy bread like sourdough to keep it up. The bread they currently use will just break apart. 2. My avocado, cheddar and tomato omelette w/ home fries: The home fries had some good flavor, but could've been better. The potatoes were cut like coins for the most part and I think that kills most of the home fries experience. Usually something like this is diced up to give an evenly crisp and cooked experience. All I really got was flimsy potato coins with some crisp here and there. Which led to the potatoes being soft and dull. It should've been pressed down onto more to give a more crisp flavor and texture. The omelette was pretty good. At certain points it seemed like the avocado was not ripe enough to cook with. It had a similar taste to steamed unseasoned broccoli, then at other portions of the omelette, it seems fine. The cheddar used lacked a bit taste. Overall, it was still good experience. The people are considerate and friendly. I also think they should bring the food out when it's a bit hotter. Food is average and not that good. I ordered the French toast with scrambled eggs. The French toast was drenched in butter (not disclosed on the menu). In addition the French toast was burnt in my opinion. The eggs tasted like old hotel eggs. In addition I ordered a Turkey Bacon cheese omelette. The server did not writing our orders down but instead try to memorize it. When it arrived the omelette had Turkey and Regular bacon. In addition I asked for fries with the omelette but received potatoes hash. Service was very slow So we didn't even bother to say anything. Our waiter, Nicos, was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. The menu truly has everything and then some. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but it's completely justified because the portions are huge. When we sat down at our table, they gave us a plate of beets... an interesting choice of appetizer, but I didn't hate it. They've got all the usuals here. I'm only being so critical because of the price. In no world should a mediocre diner burger and a sub-par salad cost 30+ dollars. The place was popping on Sunday afternoon, so I guess some people are willing to pay. I'll give them the classic diner atmosphere, but that's about it. Our waitress was a little detached/disdaining, but I genuinely don't judge because I would be too. Service was fast, but the food was undeniably disappointing. The salad was a deceivingly large mound of iceberg lettuce, and the balsamic dressing was just objectively bad. To add chicken was an additional 9.25; shrimp would've been an addition 16/17! Although the protein comes on a quite generous side plate to my surprise, the chicken was considerably greasy and chewy. The burgers/turkey burger seemed better, but not by a long shot. But the entertainment! It made my $45 breakfast worth it. The waitresses are a hoot! They kibbutz among one another about crazy customers and other staff. They say all the right server things, but with an attitude of resigned disdain. They carry searing hot plates stacked up their forearms, and put your plate down without any "it's hot" warning because they could stick their arms in a blast furnace and come out unscathed. If you go into the experience as though it's participatory dinner theater, it's a great show. If you are unable to suspend disbelief during your meal, I'm not sure you'll be happy with the service. Expensive, though. No any one item seemed outrageous, but the items seem structured to require ordering a side of something to get all of what you would get at a different restaurant for the one item price. "Premier Diner" is more like a premier truckstop. Don't waste your money. I ordered a simple mushroom American cheese omelette with a side of sausage and french fries. What I got was reheated food. The french fries tasted stale and lukewarm, the sausage definitely look like it was microwaved, - the casing was wrinkly instead of tight and robust. The actual omelette itself was very good, along with the toast. Thought about returning the food or even just walking out when they served me the food, but I was too hungry after a 13-hour shift, so I ate what I could and left the rest behind. Absolutely the worst $30 I ever spent in a diner. Then I figured I would mention it to a manager upfront, but he did not say one word to me as I was paying the bill NOT. ONE. WORD. Cooked to perfection and a very generous portion I took about half or more Home with me. Just enough to save room for Oreo cake I chose for dessert. It was very good but very sweet as your could imagine - I also boxed up half of the cake as their pastries are all made in house and MASSIVE. I always saw premier diner being very busy whenever I passed by and I'm glad I took the time to see what the buzz was all about it was a step above any old diner and really packed a punch when it came to the food, taste - and portion size. I love that they serve a chick pea salad as a starter instead of bread - this gluten free babe loves legumes! Best things on the menu: Burgers, chicken fingers, beef barley soup, dessert. Some of the big chicken entrees are great too. Don't order: the salads. They need to improve their salad game. The Mexican salad was OK, but the chef salad was an insult to chef salads everywhere. Like a big slab of rolled up meat on top of a sad bed of iceberg. I could barely eat it. The Premiet Diner was packed, it was prime dinner hour and we were seated and after a brief waiting period, the waiter ( who never smiled) took our drink order and basically never returned? Actually he did bring our beverages over to us after about a ten minute wait and as he seemed totally preoccupied with the larger party directly across from us, he threw us a bunch of straws when we flagged him down as he hurriedly took our dinner order, but we had a couple if questions regarding same, he said he would inquire and basically, never returned! Still the best diner in the area. Stand by the front desk for ten minutes and you'll get a snapshot of just how many regulars this diner has, and surely it's no surprise by the level of service and number of options. They did a nice job with the recent renovation of the inside, replete with a small expansion into the parking lot and windowed garage doors that swing open on pleasant evenings so one whole side of the building can enjoy dining alfresco. The rest of this review is a love letter to beef barley, the Saturday soup du jour. Beef barley is the moon to my stars and the best soup I've ever had. When with family on Saturday's, it's our anchor meal--we come in just for the beef barley. When ladled from the bottom, a bowl has big chunks of beef with a really thick and flavorful broth. I'd only ask for (1) less onions, (2) making it a daily option (since it's better than chicken noodle), and (3) another bowl. Lots of solid options at this diner. Spaghetti? It's all there. But I still chose the classic diner meal: a sliced turkey club sandwich. It arrived quickly. No skimping here, this is a lot of food. One very large sandwich with a thick pile of turkey, lettuce, tomato and bacon. Quartered and then buried under french fries. The turkey was a little dry, so mayo was provided. As well, I requested onion rings instead of fries, so our waitress went and got the rings. Other than these two small bumps, perfect. Not cheap by any means, but a big portion so there's some value here. The restaurant was packed, busy and not quiet. But despite every table being filled, it wasn't loud and it wasn't rowdy. My sister lives in Commack and I have driven past this diner for the last 13 years and never went in , and the last few months I have been here multiple times for breakfast. Wow ... what a great place . The meals are massive , the staff is so friendly, the seating is more then comfortable and the food is definitely great . I would recommend this place to anyone for breakfast!!! They have a huge parking lot with plenty of spaces . During COVID in the summer they have a huge tent outside which is great to eat under .
