I have lived in East Northport most of my young life, and when driving passed Jackson's everyday with my husband, he always asked why we never ate at Jackson's, and I honestly didn't have an answer for him. We never grew up going here and now, I see why. I can't imagine ever going back after how terrible the food was. We should have assumed the meal wouldn't have been amazing because as we walked in, there was a couple complaining about how bad their food was. I had the fried chicken and my husband had fish and chips. We both didn't like our meals. My fried chicken had no flavor, was super bland and possibly was fried in old oil? It didn't taste right. My husband said his fish and chips were so greasy, he couldn't stand to eat them. We started with spinach dip. It was okay at best. Didn't taste like anything amazing and the dish it was in was really difficult to eat it out of. All in all, we won't be back, there's so many other great places to eat at in this area. read more

My wife and I meet some friends for an early dinner. We had recently moved to the area and saw the reviews weren't that great but our friends had gone here before so we figured give it a try. I had the Hickory burger and asked for onion straws instead of the onion ring which our waiter said no problem. I asked for it cooked medium and it was perfect. The burger was pretty large and was delicious. I started with a small wedge salad which was not so small and the blue cheese dressing was great. I forgot to order fries with my burger and asked the waiter how long would it take to get and he said he thought they were in the fryer. Well they came out about 3 minutes later hot and delicious. My wife and friend had a salad and baked potato which were very good. My other friend had the grilled chicken baguette sandwich with Cole slaw he said were very good. Service was excellent. The restaurant was very busy with people waiting for tables. I will definitely be back. I'm glad I looked past some of the reviews and went. read more

Wow....all I can say is just...I'm speechless. So, I have lived in Florida for the past 6 years and I used to eat here and occasionally eat here if I was in town visiting. Moved back and I started eating or ordering from here again. This restaurant's customer service and management has gone downhill. One exception, the absolutely sweet young woman who took my order over the phone with such patience and kindness. To be fair: this is a very long review so if you stop reading, I completely understand. She did not know that there was a menu change and called me back ten minutes after I placed my order and told me one of the things I ordered was not on the menu anymore because they updated it. What really upsets me is that I had asked on their IG page about this particular menu item and was told differently. Additionally, I tried to order it a few weeks ago and was also told it was not available but at that time it probably was. A manager (did not catch her name) came on the phone and confirmed a menu change and said there was nothing she could do. Extremely dismissive and had an attitude towards me. I didn't get to say this but I had been a customer for all incarnations of this restaurant since I was a child. I don't recall our entire conversation but mostly I was just shocked at how incredibly inconsiderate and rude she was. She wouldn't give me a number to speak with the owner nor would she let me speak with anyone else and hung up on me before I could get another word in. By the way, it was a salad I had ordered and the only thing on it that might not be in the kitchen was a garnish on it and everything else in it should be in a walk-in sitting not being used. I left a 3 star review a few months ago hoping that someone would take charge here and straighten this once great local place out. Sadly it's gotten worse. Jackson's is probably my favorite mid level restaurant on Long Island! It's never going to be a high end steakhouse, but it is at least two steps above a chain restaurant. It's a great place for me to take a client , because it's not too haughty and it's not on the level of a diner. Service is escthe food is varied, and the quality and care is apparent. My favorite is the buffalo cauliflower as well as the skirt steak. The bar is well stocked with dozens of different local beers. read more

Came here for happy hour a couple of weeks ago with a friend. Nice bar area to hang out and enjoy a few drinks. They have specials for certain tap beers during happy hour. This was a restaurant that we used to enjoy. To begin with, the restaurant was filthy from the floor to the dirty tables. My mother and I sat down near the bar to enjoy happy hour, The female Bartender's approach was terrible she acted as if we were bothering her. As we were eating I observed her interactions with all the Spanish servers not only she was screaming at them she was mean and RACIST. I mentioned to her you are very "Rude "and then she asked another guest... Was I rude??? I have never been so happy to give her ZERO for a tip. Horrible experience...my birthday and wanted a casual place to eat before we had to make our way to other plans ...I looked online and noticed they had skirt steak and mashed potatoes (my husband has a very small number of things he eats but this was something he typically loves) so off we go. We arrive place is pretty empty.. sit down someone took our order. My husband specifically said skirt steak with nothing but the meat and mashed potatoes. We were told we don't have mashed potatoes... so my husband says ok ill have a double order of fries(how is this a restaurant that serves steaks and doesn't offer mashed potatoes? I quickly looked again and confirmed that I had seen the online menu correctly they did have mashed at least on there. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. So we wait and wait ...the steak comes out with caramelized onions all over it ...my husband starts to exclaim ...I specifically said just the MEAT AND POTATOES...NOTHING ELSE. So the guy takes it back ....in the meantime I asked to speak to the manager. In about 2 min the steak comes back out on a separate plate with the fries on another plate. My husband was in the restroom so I look at the server and say honestly answer ...did the kitchen just take the onions off that steak and have you bring it back out here? Bc if that is the case he is going to freak the f#@$ out. .. he didnt even respond but did an about face and left with the steak. By this time the manager walks up and says "how can I help you" I said this has been less than an stellar experience...explained what just happend and he told me they did away with mashed potatoes i repeated that the website online showed that you offered mashed. they did away with the chips and dip they used to put on the table while waiting for food (cited that this was bc of covid and reusing items???? Um pretty sure you reuse all the cups, silverware, plates etc.) This was a cost they were cutting not any other reason. Before I started using Yelp, I was going to Jackson's. A great place for the East Northport, Commack, Elwood area. Nice beer selection, and some good signature Cocktails. How this place has more than 1 star or 2 is beyond me. The only positive was that there is a fair selection of beer. The food was absolute garbage. Literally 1 slider comes with the "Cuban sliders" (plural). 4 small pieces of crab cake, if that's actually what it was, came with that. The burger was not cooked as asked, which I can usually get over but this looked and tasted exactly like a store bought Bubba burger. The fries that came with the burger looked like it was the end of the batch. All about a 1/2 to 3/4 inches and burned pieces of fries. Even the pickles that were on the side looked dried out. I usually come here on occasion. The food is good overall and I enjoy the different types of food on the menu. I usually go after their Prime Tavern Burger. I think it's a great spot for first dates, specifically at the bar. If I had one comment to make, it's that some Bartenders and Waiters are not as attentive as I'd like. Sometimes I'd have to wait a bit before I can flag them down for another drink. I would like to see that improve. Understandably they're busy. My last visit looked as if they were understaffed, so the Bartender had to pick up some of the slack. read more

Today I came in for a quick bite to eat and service was pretty slow. The girl who sat us told us that our waiter will be over shortly. Turns out the only time we saw our waiter was when he put the check down & when he went to grab the plate the sliders were on. Ketchup dish was still on plate and he went to take it away even though we still had fries. We ordered: - Lobster Roll Sliders - Burnt Sprout Leaves - Side of Mac & Cheese - 2 Waters with Lemon (no one came to refill) The only reason why I'm honestly giving Jackson's a 3 is because of the Burnt Sprout Leaves & the girl who sat us/served us. The Lobster Roll sliders were decent but kinda needed more something because the biscuit was rather dry. So maybe some more of the dill dressing would make it less dry. The Mac & Cheese wasn't the best I've had. (PS - Tullulah's you still win!) It was for sure lacking in flavor. The star of the show in my opinion was the Burnt Sprout Leaves. I always love coming here to Jackson's! I've been coming here for many years and the food never disappoints as there are good portions. The service is good as the servers and hosts are friendly. The restaurant was recently renovated as the ambiance is very nice and more modern. The bar is not too big and in a good location because it's not on top of the rest of the restaurant. I've been to this place a bunch throughout the years and always leave feeling the same way: it was good. I've never been blown away by a meal, but the food, service and ambiance are all consistently good. Most recently I came with family and we shared some wings, the spinach & artichoke fondue & ordered a chophouse salad with grilled chicken. You start a meal with complimentary chips & bean dip, which is tasty. The fondue wasn't really fondue. It wasn't cheesy at all, and some of the accompanying pita for the dip was stale. But, I appreciate that you get tons of carrots and celery with both appetizers. The wings (hot & BBQ) were okay & the hot sauce was particularly good, but my salad was subpar (tried two dressings and didn't love either) with cold chicken. This place is best for burgers or sandwiches - really good bar food & interesting beer selection. My family and I had a late Christmas lunch here. It was one of the few places that was open. The staff was very friendly and inviting. They serve bar type food that's a bit jazzed up. They also have many choices of micro brews. The pretzel special and the dips were outstanding. The honey mustard was delicious. Only slight draw back is the salted pretzel had way too much salt on it but was fine once you rub it off. The egg rolls was very tasty but came out luke warm. The chicken lettuce wrap was pretty good. The chicken was a Thai Sautee with hosin sauce. My chicken entree that was encrusted in pecans was ok. The portion was a good size but the chicken was a little under seasoned and it was a tad oily. Everyone else seemed to enjoy there food. The steaks, salmon, burger and Grilled cheese all looked good. O m G! I just left and I could not wait to write this review. Not only was the older waitress kind of rude in a nice way (if that makes any sense) but the food was absolutely DISGUSTING! I'm sorry but out of all of the bad experiences I've had at restaurants, this one takes the cake! The whole experience was just so odd and uncomfortable. We did not enjoy ourselves one bit. Waitress was slowwww. I ordered chicken fingers and fries for my 15 month old that came burnt and rubbery, I couldn't even pull it apart. The wings we ordered with the sauce on the side instead of on and it came wrong. The burger was a flavorless hockey puck that was small, fries were oily af, soggy and burnt. The buttermilk chicken sandwich was disgusting dark funky meat and had the smallest drizzle of the hot honey no flavor. The brisket sandwich was filled with mushrooms mostly and drenched in bbq sauce. The pretzel was burnt and dry. The prices were outrageous for such crappy food. Ugh our stomachs hurt, never ever again!!!!!! Also, the place was VeRY dirty! I bring Clorox wipes these days to clean the high chair and table and you would be shocked if you saw how black the wipe was after using several on the table and chair. I should have took a pic. They should've shut down the general restaurant because they were so focused on the larger party they seemed to forget other diners were even in the restaurant. They were out of Brooklyn lager and grey goose. They brought out cold food. And our appetizers took over an hour to come out. First course didn't come out till 2 hours past our reservation time. Food was very mediocre. Steak sandwich had one slice of steak. Burger was ok. Lobster egg rolls were decent. For drinks, they do not have any brand-name beers but have a full variety of craft beers. Complementary chips and bean dip are offered before the meal. FYI the 10% off take out coupon does NOT work! I've tried to use before and they said they are trying to get it off of their Yelp page- they do not honor this coupon! Anyway.. The food here is consistently delicious! Their cocktails are also very good. I like the environment in here, I used to come for every special occasion (I recently moved to manhattan so I no longer frequent). Their chips with black bean dip is probably my favorite part. We also love their fried pickles and I loved their steak sandwich on ciabatta. Their healthy options could use some perfecting, but overall enjoy coming here! GM Yelpers Went to this lovely eatery yesterday evening with two others. I am a plant-based eater. I was excited that The Impossible Burger was on the menu. I had it without the bun, brussel sprouts, cole slaw and pickles. Burger was good, wonderfully cooked. But I've had better brussel sprouts. These were a little rough to the bite with no taste. Because you don't really care, you're just trying to figure out if Jackson's is worth your time.* And I'd say it probably is. They've got a pretty solid selection of beers on tap that range from tasty to some sort of yogurt flavored brew that I'm still confused by, and the menu as enough eats on it that anyone can find something they'd like. For my part, if there are ribs on the menu, I'm probably eating them. My massive portion of Hawaiian ribs was delicious, and they had no problem with me wanting fries instead of the sweet potatoes that were supposed to come along with 'em.
