Visited this place twice in one month and had two very different experiences--both were great! The first time, we ordered the family meal special for takeout, and there was more than enough food for four people. Everything was good, and honestly, it was an unexpected find since you don't usually think of a bar offering family meal specials. The manager even introduced himself and asked for our feedback, which was a really nice touch. The second time, we decided to sit down for some beers and burgers on burger special night. Our waitress, Gina (I believe that was her name), was incredibly nice, polite, and friendly. The food didn't disappoint, and the half-price burgers were an unexpected bonus! I'm currently stuck at home recovering from a hospital stay, and can't physically cool like I wanted to for St Patrick's Day. Let me tell you, ordering DoorDash from Amity Ales was an amazing choice! My wife had the "casey-filla," a corned beef quesadilla..... that she loved. I had a meal of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. The corned beef was amazing! So tender, and not salty. very nice bar with excellent food! m brother in law and I entered about 1230pm on a Saturday. The place had just opened and we were thirsty and hungry. We ordered a "nashville hot chicken sandwich and a steak tidbits sandwich. Both were delicious and accompanied with the best "hand cut" fries and cole slaw. About 10 beers on tap and my shock top was cold and fresh. Bartender was friendly and attentive, If you're in the area its worth a stop! read more

I was in the area for an event and decided to pop in here after to eat. I've been here once before and remember it being very good so I'm not sure why I haven't been back in years but it's def worth it for some good junk food! My friends and I split the kettle chips, smashed potato balls and the caprese grilled cheese and it was all incredible. The sweet honey drizzle on the kettle chips was the perfect addition and the potato balls came with an ale sauce that I used to also dip the fries in. The rear parking lot is public parking, not your private space for a black pickup to take two spots next to your business, or place cones blocking spaces off. Parking is limited, these spots are for everyone, including your patrons. Blocking off spots is rude and inconsiderate, please consider stopping this practice. read more

I can't say enough about this place! We rented out their back room for my daughter's communion party and they did a phenomenal job with everything! The planning process was seamless, we worked with the manager to pick out the entries and appetizers and went with a buffet setup for the main corses. The ambiance of the room was fantastic with the reclaimed hardwood accents we didn't have to do much to prepare decorations at all. The hostess and waitresses were incredibly attentive and extremely accommodating to our party, and just a joy to work with. The food was incredible, everything they served was top notch and made you want to lick the plate clean. Great experience, highly recommend! We will be back for future parties read more

Three large fillets have been replaced by 3 skinny filets . So skinny that they curled into corkscrew shapes. This establishment is A-plus on food and service. And this was a take out order thru Uber eats. I requested in the notes no onions in my shepherds pie. Can you believe I received a call from the gentleman there saying courtesy call. The stu already has onions in it. Top class joint My pie was the best on Long Island. I'm Irish and know a good shepherds pie as I think Woodside has the best. This place has taken the rank as best on Long Island. I cheated this weekend on keto and because of how large the serving is. This place was recommended by a conference I was attending. Looking for a place closeby, a group of us decided to stop in for a quick dinner. Arriving around 5:30pm, the place was getting crowded and the bar area was definitely noisy. The scene is rustic old-school bar with seating for dining in the back. The hostess greeted us & quickly sat us down. Immediately we were served by Anthony. He was friendly and immediately took our drink order, brought them over, & took our food orders. The wait was longer than anticipated but Anthony checked in on us & brought us refills. All my friends love their food. My steak salad was good but too much cheese which overpowered everything else. Next time I'll ask for cheese on the side. The food is definitely American comfort bar food. Not my type of scene but food you are definitely familiar with. Next time, will have to try two of my favorites to compare, Shepherd 's Pie & Chicken Pot Pie. read more

My friends and I have been going to Amity Ales for while now because it's right next door to our favorite local music venue. They have a good list of beers, and great apps and food. I love all the grilled cheese options especially. However, last Sunday we went for another pre-show dinner. I ended up being overcharged to my credit card. When I called the next day, the person I spoke to couldn't have been more understanding and helpful. I was credited the correct amount and all was taken care of within 24 hours. If i could give 0 stars i would. Walked in and sat down with 2 friends. Bartenders had insane attitude right off the bat. When we asked for drinks they purposely only served 2 drinks instead of 3 insisting that our friend who is inherently quiet was too drunk. When we stood up to leave they gave us an attitude about rescinding their beers. When we went to exit the bartender took out his phone to video tape us as if he was justifying his actions. When both bartenders came to their senses that we were civil patrons they followed us out to try and save face and apologize. Absolutely laughable. Power trip losers that couldn't even justify their word. Laughable bar but most certainly the most ignorant and uneducated servers in Amityville. read more

Fish and chips are my favorite. You can split the Mac and cheese between two people and get something else. Fried pickles and artichoke dip are top tier. I've not only been here multiple times solo and with friends and never a bad experience, I've also ordered food via delivery and pick up. But today...almost a bad experience. I sat at the bar and usually at any other time or at any other bar you are placed with a paper coaster and asked what to drink right away. This time I sat down. I waited. Someone asks for a gift card after I sit down and bartender does so right away. I'm looking at the bar back, nothing. A waitress grabbing drinks (twice) and nothing. So, I decide to walk out after about 3-4 min. Finally, someone walks up behind me, very sweet young lady and asks if I was there to pick up something. Today, I had the Meatloaf Special which looked like a bacon wrapped hamburger on mashed potatoes on toast floating in a puddle of brown gravy, all hidden under a pile of crispy fried onions. Yum My brother had his favorite; The Bull Burger. He likes his served without a bun and a side of mashed potatoes. Be sure to ask for a side of gravy for the potatoes. My sister-in-law had the Classic Burger with potato chips. Everyone was pleased. The friendly bartender kept the drinks flowing, and the friendly clientele made us feel welcome. We highly recommend this establishment. We like sitting at the bar but there are tables and booths available if that's what you prefer. read more

So I did get some veggies in! I ordered the caprese grilled cheese. It had fresh Mozzarella, olive oil, tomato and basil with Balsamic glaze on Parmesan toast. That Parmesan toast was delish!! It brought bread to an entire new dimension. Everything about this sandwich was amazing. Every bite was bursting with flavor. The sandwich came with fries that had nice flavor! Demaris, Demaris, DEMARIS!!! Bartendress extraordinaire! WooWee! She makes a good drink, but even better company. She's that person that brings sunshine with her when she walks in a room. So I only sit at the bar when I come here. There are a host of regulars. That's when you know it's a cool place to be. My favorite is quiet Mike. Super friendly & a pleasure to be around. Between Demaris & Mike I wish I could come more often. But the food is always a hit & will keep you coming back on it's own. They always have specials, so be sure to try them. But the regular menu is quite delicious on its own. Each dish is seasoned to perfection. They even make their own potato chips as a side. Was looking forward to going to amity ales to meet with some friends that I have not seen in a bit to watch the New York Islanders afternoon hockey game. Upon arrival got greeted by friends that had already ordered me food as I was running late. The bar tender who reminded me of hillary swank from karate kid 94' seemd a bit disengaged as she didn't want to be bartending on a Sunday. Waited quite a bit for my wings because she forgot to put them in which wasn't really a big deal. Then proceeded to wait to grab her attention for a beer after giving me the beer list some time ago (In a non crowded bar) The game comes on I ask the bar tender to remove the closed captioning on the tv because we were watching a sporting event. I'm a straight blank stare she said no. My friend is a special need person and it upset him quite a bit. To de escalate the situation I asked for the check and asked 2 nice females sitting next to us to take a picture of us to cheer him up. Thankfully they took a lesson from sensei about kindness. Why did I wait so long to come here?! Comfort food at its finest! Menu had some many yummy things I had a hard time deciding. Our waitress was very sweet. She was patient with us being indecisive. She told us everything tasted good on the menu and she was right! We started with the baked clams. It had a little different flavor that I couldn't put my finger on, but they were good. I had the mac and cheese. I added broccoli to make it healthy hahaha. It came with scallions and bacon on top. I would have liked it a little creamier but it was still cheesy. This is one of my favorite bars on Long Island. It's warm and cozy with good food, drink, staff, and prices. They have discounted happy hour appetizers that I'd gladly pay full price for because they're delicious. Do yourself a favor and get the kettle chips with Gorgonzola and honey. It's basically crack. The French onion soup hits the spot on a cold day and is packed with flavor. The Cajun chicken sandwich is one of my favorites because it's not too heavy and keeps you going. The bar is beautiful with its warm decor and wooden structure. Everything behind the bar is in its right place. You can tell it was designed by someone who is careful and meticulous. You don't need a menu if you're just thirsty. Simply look behind the bar to see all they have to offer. Their beer selection is great with some nice local brews on draft. Our bartender Ryan was very knowledgeable and helped us find what we were looking for. This is just a great place to hang out. Was able to enjoy some alfresco dining in the parking lot yard. Yes, it was an add-on they opened as a result of covid but it's nice to have somewhere to be outdoors while enjoying some delicious beer/drink/food. Ordered the turkey burger which I must say was one of the most delicious ones I've ever had. My problem with the experience is that for a $16 burger, when I requested a side salad instead of fries, it was an additional $3 or $4 up charge and the portion was laughable. I also wasn't informed there would be a charge for the cheese or side salad. That burger was a whopping $22 - and I asked for more lettuce since the size of the side salad was so small - they didn't even bring me the same mixed green lettuce that was served. I was given a few romaine bits that were clearly for a Caesar salad. The "patio" area could use some sprucing up - add some privacy & cover up the commercial garbage cans - a little could go a long way if they do a little back there.
