I was in the area for an event and decided to pop in here after to eat. I've been here once before and remember it being very good so I'm not sure why I haven't been back in years but it's def worth it for some good junk food! My friends and I split the kettle chips, smashed potato balls and the caprese grilled cheese and it was all incredible. The sweet honey drizzle on the kettle chips was the perfect addition and the potato balls came with an ale sauce that I used to also dip the fries in. If i could give 0 stars i would. Walked in and sat down with 2 friends. Bartenders had insane attitude right off the bat. When we asked for drinks they purposely only served 2 drinks instead of 3 insisting that our friend who is inherently quiet was too drunk. When we stood up to leave they gave us an attitude about rescinding their beers. When we went to exit the bartender took out his phone to video tape us as if he was justifying his actions. When both bartenders came to their senses that we were civil patrons they followed us out to try and save face and apologize. Absolutely laughable. Been coming for years and have never had a bad experience. Fish & Chips are my all time favorite and have always been generous- till tonight. Three large fillets have been replaced by 3 skinny filets . So skinny that they curled into corkscrew shapes. Can you believe I received a call from the gentleman there saying courtesy call. The stu already has onions in it. Top class joint My pie was the best on Long Island. I'm Irish and know a good shepherds pie as I think Woodside has the best. This place has taken the rank as best on Long Island. I cheated this weekend on keto and because of how large the serving is. I can't say enough about this place! We rented out their back room for my daughter's communion party and they did a phenomenal job with everything! The planning process was seamless, we worked with the manager to pick out the entries and appetizers and went with a buffet setup for the main corses. The ambiance of the room was fantastic with the reclaimed hardwood accents we didn't have to do much to prepare decorations at all. The hostess and waitresses were incredibly attentive and extremely accommodating to our party, and just a joy to work with. This place was recommended by a conference I was attending. Looking for a place closeby, a group of us decided to stop in for a quick dinner. Arriving around 5:30pm, the place was getting crowded and the bar area was definitely noisy. The scene is rustic old-school bar with seating for dining in the back. The hostess greeted us & quickly sat us down. Immediately we were served by Anthony. He was friendly and immediately took our drink order, brought them over, & took our food orders. The wait was longer than anticipated but Anthony checked in on us & brought us refills. All my friends love their food. My steak salad was good but too much cheese which overpowered everything else. Next time I'll ask for cheese on the side. The food is definitely American comfort bar food. Not my type of scene but food you are definitely familiar with. My friends and I have been going to Amity Ales for while now because it's right next door to our favorite local music venue. They have a good list of beers, and great apps and food. I love all the grilled cheese options especially. However, last Sunday we went for another pre-show dinner. I ended up being overcharged to my credit card. When I called the next day, the person I spoke to couldn't have been more understanding and helpful. I was credited the correct amount and all was taken care of within 24 hours. Was looking forward to going to amity ales to meet with some friends that I have not seen in a bit to watch the New York Islanders afternoon hockey game. Upon arrival got greeted by friends that had already ordered me food as I was running late. The bar tender who reminded me of hillary swank from karate kid 94' seemd a bit disengaged as she didn't want to be bartending on a Sunday. Waited quite a bit for my wings because she forgot to put them in which wasn't really a big deal. Then proceeded to wait to grab her attention for a beer after giving me the beer list some time ago (In a non crowded bar) The game comes on I ask the bar tender to remove the closed captioning on the tv because we were watching a sporting event. I'm a straight blank stare she said no. My friend is a special need person and it upset him quite a bit. I have a local to Amityville friend, let's call him Frankie, that refuses to go to Amity Ales because a friend of his ten years ago got "a bad chicken sandwich". I come here about once a month for the Bull burger (bacon and egg)...I try to get there on a Wednesday evening, they are half price. Great burger. I recently visited and it was a little crowded, and took a long time to be served (30 min?). I ordered the Bull burger, but got a regular cheeseburger. No big deal, and I didn't want to wait for them to remake it. The problem was, the cheeseburger was not good; dry bun, dry burger (pink inside and done correctly at medium rare but dry). It was not what I previously had enjoyed. If this is your regular cheeseburger, it needs work, strictly two-star. The fries were plain and the portion small. Not sure what the problem was...I'm sorta glad Frankie decided not to join us...hope this was an anomaly. read more

You don't need a menu if you're just thirsty. Simply look behind the bar to see all they have to offer. Their beer selection is great with some nice local brews on draft. Was able to enjoy some alfresco dining in the parking lot yard. Yes, it was an add-on they opened as a result of covid but it's nice to have somewhere to be outdoors while enjoying some delicious beer/drink/food. Ordered the turkey burger which I must say was one of the most delicious ones I've ever had. My problem with the experience is that for a $16 burger, when I requested a side salad instead of fries, it was an additional $3 or $4 up charge and the portion was laughable. I also wasn't informed there would be a charge for the cheese or side salad. That burger was a whopping $22 - and I asked for more lettuce since the size of the side salad was so small - they didn't even bring me the same mixed green lettuce that was served. I was given a few romaine bits that were clearly for a Caesar salad. The "patio" area could use some sprucing up - add some privacy & cover up the commercial garbage cans - a little could go a long way if they do a little back there. I went here for the first time for a quick dinner on 11/4/20 and I have to say I was very satisfied. The menu was loaded with a lot of different options. I wound up going with the amity burger as soon as I discovered that Wednesday is 1/2 off burger night! The burger it self was delicious and the sweet potato fries with the maple infused dipping sauce was amazing! I sat at the bar which was very long and even had barriers to practice social distancing. I glimpsed at the dining room and it was pretty large I'd say it had about 30 to 40 tables (all packed) The staff there all wore their masks properly which was cool and the bartender who served me was hands down the fastest one I've saw in a long time. He was also very knowledgeable of the menu. The reason I can't give 5 stars is because of their beer selection. I was under the impression goth at this was a brewery with a large selection of house beer. I care to realize that they only offer 1 beer they make in house. The house beer was tasty though!
