Hubby and I come here often that's how good the food is here and the variety is vast from seafood to turf. This visit i had a cheese burger with Swiss cheese and onions. We gave the Nautilus diner a try yesterday afternoon with a group of 4 people and I have to say it was delicious. The menu is very large with fair pricing. Two of us had full dinners and the other two had burgers and everyone was very happy. Wine by the glass is a great pour. Service was excellent, our waitress Pamela was great. Terrible experience. This is in reference to the waiter with the red Bow tie. The service started out terrible and the check was brought over without asking us if we wanted coffee or dessert. I was with three other women, a 94-year-old a 75-year-old and an 85-year-old I said to the waiter I'm not sure why you're bringing us the check we wanted to order coffee and dessert. He raised his voice and got angry and said I thought you wanted the check! And I said no we would like some coffee. He leaned in from the side of the circle table with his hands on the table to me and told me to Relax! I will get you coffee just relax and I said don't tell me to relax and he said, do you want to speak to the manager? I spoke to the manager I spoke to his uncle who supposedly owns the place and told them what happened. They told the waiter that I personally complained about him, and then the waiter came back at me and told me he did me a favor by doing separate checks. I paid and walked out, and nobody said another word to us. How terrible that this waiter for no reason would get aggressive with three old ladies and myself, and the staff did not care. Side dishes like coleslaw, potato salad (oddly, the potato salad has shredded carrots in it) and tzatziki left much to be desired. The pastrami Ruben was good. I love that they offer gluten free bread. Chicken souvlaki was ok. The Greek salad was simply iceberg lettuce with tomato, red bell peppers, onion, olives, and feta. Hummus was VERY chunky and thick. Not much tahini flavor either. French Dip panini was decent as well. Fries were very tasty - crispy and seasoned nicely. Service was friendly albeit a bit slow. Diner on the east end of Massapequa on Merrick Road. It's been at least twenty years since I ate here. Menu is extensive with most standard diner far: all sorts of breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers and salads. I had the Greek omelette with toast and hash browns. The omelette was nice and fluffy and quite large. A huge amount if has browns which had mixed veggies. Good. My gf had the thanksgiving giving wrap which had Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce. She liked her meal too Service was quick and friendly. Wow how to put stars? The experience today for me at the Nautilus Restaurant in Massapequa was a mind boggling upset. Something simple as ordering a dish not finding it to taste and asking for an exchange became an absolute disaster. Like it certainly would've been easier to just eat it or not. So, there with friends who have been coming for years , and noting that I and my husband have also, it was an overwhelming experience. So, your asking, what happened already. I ordered the Halibut as I enjoy fish, from the specials board( 29.99) with 2 veg sides. I it tasted fishy. I asked for it to be exchanged for ( after checking menu) a simple turkey omelette. ( 16.99) The older owner came out to our table with a slab of raw halibut insisting tat he had just cut it and that it was fresh. (Ok) . He firmly said that I could order something else but the Halibut would remain on the bill. The waitress Arial repeatedly this to me and took my plate of fish away to the kitchen and I was told by the waitress it had been thrown out . In Lu of argument I said ok. I ate the two vegetables of spinach and string beans from the first order and later when served, some of the omelette. True to the word I was charged 29. 99 on my bill. ( waitress was given full tip) She even kindly offered us a dessert. Thing is -it's a restaurant and at any time something might not be as tasty ( or as fresh- even though bought fresh) clearly he'd spent good money for the fish and, he made sure, that I'd paid it too. The food was ok. The service was deplorable and keeps going down hill. My husband and I go there because it's close, and the place is nice and it's very clean. But the service is extremely slow and they aren't even crowded. We thought it was a fluke and went back and again the service was slow, actually even slower. The bread baskets they put out on the table come from a previous table before, the bread that was bit thrown to the garbage the others stay. All the servers who are touching money are also using their bare hands to prepare your food. All your sides, salads, French fries are all grabbed bare handed by servers! Wait staff eats off of your plates while the food sits under heating lamps! All food is already prepared and thrown in a microwave other than eggs and pancakes! The department of health has been here and violated this diner with a final warning after a party of 20 people all ended up sick with food poisoning just a few weeks ago and the owner didn't even care! The food was great and the staff was very attentive to our needs. We also had coffee which was topped off very well and fresh OJ. The place is quite large and also had outdoor seating. By far the customer service I've ever encountered. Ordered multiple dinners through grubhub for delivery, Yet when they arrived one of them was completely missing and replaced with something else. When we called the restaurant, they basically told me too bad, what we gave you cost costs more so we're not doing anything about it. Then tried blaming it on the language barrier of grubhub. Mom had a short stack of pancakes with blueberries so plump they burst! It was nice visiting with my niece and her baby daughter! Went today with our 3 and 5 year old granddaughters ... they wanted pancakes (chocolate and blueberry) but the cost was about $14 each so we asked the waitress if they had a kids version of each and she said oh, we have a "short stack" version of each ... so we said great let's have that ... got the bill and they still charged us $14 each, but for just two pancakes each )the "short stack") when we asked they said that's what we ordered / that's what we got ....
