Headed out the Island to meet family for lunch. My aunt said this was her favorite diner, so we met there. We were greeted and seated right away. Waiter took our drink orders while we waited for my cousin and her kids to arrive. I ordered the quinoa scramble and my wife ordered French toast. Both meals were very good... I can see why my aunt likes the place. They even had Spanish La Liga soccer games on the tv's, so in the rare moments we weren't catching up, I was able to watch something that I might have otherwise sought out to watch. We came here on New Year's Day at 11am. This turned out to be the perfect time-not too crowded considering the day. Our food came quickly once ordered. I liked my avocado omelette with Swiss cheese with two big beef sausages. Yum. My galpal had chocolate chip pancakes-BIG! She took two home. There wasn't any loud music or televisions. The hushed conversations amongst the crowd were pleasant. The wait staff wasn't pushy or annoying. Parking could be a beast depending on when you go. Nice diner. I'd go back. read more

It took maybe 5 minutes for the food to be served which was speedy. Everything is also extremely clean here. And the food was par at best, (like most diners) ide go again in a pinch. I tired the sunrise diner for the first time (via delivery) tonight- and I'm really impressed. I ordered the chicken Alexa, soup, burnt broccoli and potatoes . The food was delivered nice and hot, so I didn't need to reheat anything. The soup was tasty, and I really liked that the vegetables were salted nicely and seasoned well in the chicken dish. I especially liked that the diner called me to tell me my soup options , because I mistakenly chose a soup not offered on Sundays via ordering app. The only comment I would provide to the restaurant is to explain/ have descriptions of what some of the entree dishes are on ordering apps. I would order again for sure- but, would like to know what certain meals are that aren't listed on your website pdf menu. Today was the first day I went here and it was so good! I lived in Levittown for 25 years and would pass this place a lot. The parking lot is tiny and only a few spots. Which is understandable looking at the location. It was next to a parkway which is a good location if you think about it. The service got a bit slow but it started to get busy. Which is surprising on a Tuesday morning. But I'm happy to see that. I got the pancakes with bacon and a side of eggs. The bacon was good and so were the eggs. The pancakes were a bit tough to cut through but they were pretty good. I would totally come back. read more

Me and my boyfriend came for dinner and off the bat, our server slammed our drinks on the table and kinda tossed the straws our direction. Food overpriced and bland. I ordered a Belgian waffle with a side of home fries. Waffle was comparable to a hotel breakfast, nothing on it, syrup packets on the side as well as a tiny thing of butter. It was alright but not worth around $8. The home fries were absolutely terrible. Bland. No seasoning at all whatsoever and no salt at the table either. Mushy, and tasted old. I could barely eat a couple bites. My boyfriend only had a couple bites of his food he ordered corn beef on a roll, which he only had a few bites as well, bland, nasty. The Loaded fries were bland,soggy and unappetizing. Our condiments for both meals were placed on the same plate which I found odd why my syrup packets and butter were next to pickles and all that other stuff. It was a waste of $36 to say the least. I never write bad reviews, because I'm not picky but this was simply terrible I'm not sure how it was messed up that bad. read more

This is one of the best diners I've ever been to- no exaggeration. The place looks exactly like an old school diner, but you walk in and can immediately feel the difference. It's clear that the place feels run by a "family" more than "employees." Our server was hysterical, no-nonsense, and entertaining even in our brief interactions with him. The food itself is elevated diner food. You'll find things on the menu you wouldn't at a typical diner, and the staples taste significantly better. We had the black bean quinoa burger which was phenomenal for a veggie burger. We also had the BBQ short rib sandwich and it was amazing. The fries are tasty and perfectly seasoned. I subbed my fries for mashed potatoes and they were soooo good- buttery, peppery, super flavorful, perfectly seasoned. You can tell someone came in and infused some life into the place- from the design of the menu (simple and more upscale than a typical diner menu) to the new credit card reader up front. There is also a menu page that explains they try to source organic chicken, fresh veggies, and cage free eggs. They also never freeze their burger meat- everything is made fresh. If you're looking for a low key diner experience with a more refined menu and better sourced ingredients, Sunrise is your place. read more

Visit Date: January 24, 2015 My sister asked to pick a place for her birthday so based on yelp reviews I picked this place. My family liked it and I think if I had ordered something different I might have enjoyed it more. If I do go back and order something different I will update my review to reflect that. The place was clean, and the servers were very nice. I can't publish this photo but after singing happy birthday to my sister the servers agreed to take a birthday photo with her. I wasn't really happy with my heuvos rancheros. I was really excited about ordering them and everything else on the menu looked terrific so I expected my food to be great too. The black beans could have used more seasoning and the portion size could have been bigger. Sometimes I am a hungry girl so when I get a portion smaller than what I was expecting it does disappoint me a little bit. The salsa served with the dish was slightly runny too. The diner is also very cramped. It looks great but there's so many tables packed into one little space and I don't dig spaces that make me feel like I'm practically on top of other people or bumping into other people to get to my table. So if I come back and order a different dish and like it more I'll be happy to update my review and give this place more stars. read more

My sisters and I came in for brunch for my eldest sisters birthday. immediately we were stared at by all the guests and staff being the only black women in the establishment. While waiting for our food the host was continuously walking past our table and staring at us. We finally got our food and was still being watched by staff. My kids and I are on a mission to try as many of the diners on Long Island as possible for breakfast. Generally, on Saturday mornings, we go for a bike ride, then out to breakfast. This week, we headed to the Sunrise Diner in Wantaugh, NY, since we had just finished riding our bikes on the Jones Beach Boardwalk. As far as Diners go, and compared to others we've been to, this one is a bit on the smaller side, which is ok. It has that standard retro diner look for sure. There's some parking on the side and more parking in the back. They have outdoor seating if you want it, but we sat inside at a table. The waitress came over immediately and took our orders. Our drinks came out quick and our waitress was back to take our food order. My kids go juice and I got coffee. My son loves chocolate chip pancakes as his go to, so he ordered that. My daughter loves nutella french toast, so she got that on Challah bread. Me, I just like a standard breakfast, so I got two eggs over medium with ham, home fries, and an English muffin. At this point, my coffee is already getting a little low and voila, our waitress is on it like a champ. There was one small thing "bugging" me, and that was the presence of flies inside the restaurant. They didn't seem to be around the food, but just hanging around on the glass on the wall partitions. Having flies around just kind of grosses me out. However, I'm not faulting the restaurant here, as they probably didn't even know they were there, it's just something that somebody should keep tabs on and I didn't want to cause a fuss by mentioning it and rile up the neighboring fellow diners. I would just put the flies out of my mind. After a very short wait, our food comes out. My son is over the moon as his pancakes look great. My daughter's french toast looks very yummy as well and she's smiling. That's all I pretty much care about, that they are happy with their meals. My breakfast comes out and it looks good as well. I take a bite of the home fries, and while the flavor is ok, they are not hot....bordering on barely warm. Home fries need to be hot. My eggs...over medium to me is still having some liquidity to the yolk, my yolks were fully cooked through. Nevertheless, the eggs, combined with the ham, and English muffin tasted great. I ended up not eating much of the tepid home fries. My daughters french toast tasted very good, but pieces of it were not fully cooked through. I told my daughter to just cut those away and not eat it. I'm nitpicking here, because there wasn't much and my daughter spots little inconsistencies like a hawk. My son devoured his chocolate chip pancakes and gave them a thumbs up. My daughter couldn't finish her french toast and we asked for a box....they instead took the plate away and packed up everything for us very quickly. Service is very good. I felt like we were waiting on very quickly. The fly situation put me in an uneasy mood with everything being focused now on cleanliness, I just didn't like to see them in the restaurant. The staff was fully masked and I know they are doing everything in their power to keep the place clean. Given the few minor hiccups with my food, the flies, etc., I wouldn't hesitate to come here again, but with so many diners on Long Island, we are probably not going to return until our quest to visit more diners continues with other establishments on Long Island. read more
