I stopped into Downtown Café in Glen Cove and everything from drinks to entrées was a hit. We started with a round of festive cocktails and mocktails -- the Mistletoe Mockarita, the Gingerbread Cookie mocktail, the Yule Mule, and the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini. Each had its own cozy holiday twist and honestly set the tone for the whole meal. For food, the short rib tacos were the standout. Packed with flavor and dipped in a super tasty aioli, they were easily our favorite. The buffalo chicken sliders were another win, perfectly crispy and served with fries. The chicken club with sweet potato fries felt fresh, light, and still really satisfying. We wrapped up with the Santa Fe salad, loaded, refreshing, and dressed in a great balsamic vinaigrette. The food at Downtown Café was great! To clarify, this is a sports bar, not a cafe. I believe it's also a pizzeria next door, and you can order those menu items on the sports bar side, too. We had an errand in the area and starving so we walked into the first place we found. They have pretty much all the usual sport bar food. I had the jerk chicken sliders (one of their specials) and my husband had a burger. This is not authentic jerk chicken, but it was tasty. The food took a bit to come out but when it did, it was piping hot and clearly freshly made with good ingredients. Even our leftovers kept really well. The complimentary bread that was brought to the table was also hot right out of the oven- it was so good, I had two pieces. The service was friendly and attentive. It seemed like a lot of regulars were dropping in to watch the Sunday afternoon NFL games. There were a few TVs and one of the games was on with sound. I wouldn't be upset if I found myself here again for a casual meal. Seems like a good, reliable spot. read more

Consistently great food no matter what we order! The portions are generous and we usually order a variety for sharing. Delivery is friendly, fast and reliable. The restaurant offers casual outdoor seating in warmer seasons or indoor service. The Chef always comes out to say hello and check on us- who does that anymore?? First tried this place out when I was starving at some Harry Potter event. Grabbed a few plain slices and an upside down Sicilian vodka slice. Wow was I blown alway, the pizza was so good we made our way back the following weekend to get pickles at a farmers market and pizza for lunch. Since the vodka slice was so good I had to try this out in a chicken roll so I grabbed on of those, a plain slice and some garlic knots. I was not disappointed as everything came out fantastic. The pizza store next door is pretty good. But the actual restaurant just wasnt up to par. Food seems flavorless and service slacks efficiency . I got a water with lemon and the lemon was slimy and rotten. I returned it and was not given any type of apology or resolution. I've been working in the area for a little over 2 years and have always heard really good things of the restaurant. During the summer time/spring, it's the place to be, apparently. They have good outdoor seating and prime space for the downtown concerts/shows. I finally got a chance to visit and was pleasantly surprised. I expected the place to be packed. It was moderately busy and almost has a dive feel to it. My girlfriend and I decided to sit at the bar for a more casual feel. I ordered a beer, and she ordered a cocktail. Her favorite cocktail wasn't on the menu but the bartender was able to re-create from a brief verbal description. We placed an order for a Humpty Dumpty Burger and the Penne Alla Vodka. The food was a lot better than expected. My burger was juice and hearty and was reminiscent of what you'd hope to get at all-american kind of joint. My girlfriend's Penna Alla Vodka had a little bit of runny sauce and not as thick but had great taste. Overall, I'd definitely recommend for a night out here. read more

I came here with my friend for the Sunday bottomless brunch. It was $65 for all you can drink, pastries, fruit, dessert, and an entree. The drinks included bellinis, mimosas, screwdrivers, and bloody marys. The brunch started with a basket with muffins, bagels, and fruit pastries and a plate of fruit with Nutella to dip it in. For the entree, I got the Eggerything Pizza and it was very good. When it was time for dessert, we were both so full (and tipsy) we turned it down. The drinks were alright. The bellinis were just prosecco with grenadine in it, not peach. Both the screwdriver and bloody marys were made with Sea Ice, which is *literally* the cheapest vodka you can buy. The screwdrivers were good. However, the bloody mary was so salty it was undrinkable. The ambiance in the restaurant was not really what I was expecting from brunch. There were 5 TVs with 3 different things playing, which I found pretty distracting. Our server was very nice and was always checking in on us. Recommended to stop down with our family for lunch to the Downtown Pizzeria, glad we did. It can be challenging to find restaurants who can use simple ingredients and create something special. Our family stopped in for a quick lunch and we kept it simple; a large regular pie with a bunch of fresh garlic knots. I will say, this is close to if not the best regular pie in Glen Cove imo. Their dough and oven make such a light and fluffy bubbling crust, it's almost as if you're eating fresh baked naan from a great Indian restaurant. Granted they made the pie to order and can't know if every pie is this good, but ours was incredible. While at the counter, we were hit with a blast of garlic, olive oil and spices emanating from a giant bowl of freshly made garlic knots passing by. They were hands down, the best we have ever enjoyed. Not too much dough, epic flavor, just perfect. Maybe it was the timing while everything was just being made, but lucky us, we will be back. It should be noted our lunch was also very reasonably priced. A large pie and 6 knots came to 20 bucks and change with a tip. Had the chance to check out the walk through cafe next door and looking forward to trying their wings and burgers I keep reading about soon. Best part is, the food is only going to get better moving so fast when the many new residents move in across the street; after a brief period of wonky service no doubt. Our favorite pizza store in Glen Cove. Great customer service too: extremely attentive. I came in for lunch with my little boy. We only ordered one slice and sat their outdoor eating. Last night my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and the food was great but our night was ruined by one of the employees. There was one blonde hostess (I think she was a hostess) who kept ignoring me and only speaking to my husband but that is one thing. Once we left, my husband realized he left his card so he went in to get it and this same employee came onto him VERY hard. He immediately came back and told me as he was insanely uncomfortable. Really cute place , on one side it's a pizzeria and on the other side a pub/cafe with outdoor seating . We ordered a plain slice , a grandma slice and a chicken sesame slice , the plain slice was good but I wasn't impressed , the grandma slice was pretty good but the chicken sesame slice was amazing ! It's like a huge meal , the plate was so heavy I couldn't believe it was just a pizza , tons of chicken , so tender, juicy and delicious and the sweet sesame sauce went so well with the saltiness of the cheese , def a must try !
