Used to be one of my favorites. Never disappointed. New owners, unfortunately, are subpar. Service was disjointed and slow. When sat our "freshly" set table's glasses were dirty - one had lipstick marks, another food stuck to the rim. I ordered the Bleu Flame which is pasta, skirt steak, spinach and mushrooms. Was brought out what I can only describe as an attempt at a wedge salad. Now I had to wait another 15m for my ordered dish to come out while rest of my party's food was served - all of which was "meh", at best. When what I actually ordered came out, the slab of "meat" they tried to pass off as skirt steak was inedible. It was some disgustingly fatty cut of meat, about 75% grizzle. Hi Brian, I appreciate you responding, but I need to be clear--this isn't based on one visit. I grew up in Roslyn and have been coming to that location long before Mim's, and continued when you took it over. I've been a loyal customer for years, which is why this feedback comes from repeated, recent experiences--not a single off night. The decline has been consistent. The atmosphere has changed significantly, the bar has been empty on multiple visits, and the level of service and overall energy are nowhere near what they once were. As for the food, I did bring it to the bartender's attention and even gave him a piece of the steak to try. He acknowledged it and mentioned putting it back on the grill, but at that point it would have overcooked. The steak had also been pre-sliced before it came out, which likely contributed to it being cold. The potatoes were cold as well. What's most disappointing, though, is your response. Dismissing this as a one-off and saying you'll focus on the guests who are there today comes across as if losing longtime customers isn't a concern. That's a mistake. It's not just me--you haven't just lost one customer, you've lost me and several of my friends who used to come in regularly. I'm not interested in going back and forth. So just had dinner at Mims, worst experience I have ever had. The food was terrible, ordered calamari and it was very oily and soggy, for mains we ordered a medium skirt steak that was grossly over cooked along with the roasted potatoes that were even more over cooked then the steak, also ordered the Brie flatbread which looked like a piece of pita microwaved with some Brie cheese and cranberries. Tasted as bad as it looked. For drinks I got a watered down Manhattan and I will bet actual money that the $18 glass of wine which they said was Bonanza Cabernet, would not pass the test for being the actual product. When the flatbread was sent back the " manager" didn't seem to care in the least and just sat at the bar watching the baseball game. Needless to say to I will never go back to this restaurant and advise everyone else to stay away. read more

We had dined here about a month ago as we were in the Port Washington area and decided to come here on a whim for dinner. Walking in, it does appear to be what the place was described, which is a cozy restauarant with a pub like feel. Lots of ample seating both by the bar area and larger tables in the back. I ordered the steak sandwich cooked to medium rare along with sweet potatoes. I do like the presentation and it being on a ciabatta bread but wish the steak were sliced thinner...very minor complaint really. My son got the meatloaf which came with broccoli and roasted potatoes. He felt the roasted potatoes were a bit one note and found the overall entree to be just okay. My wife got the cedar plan roasted salmon with brussel sprouts. Her one major complaint was that the brussel sprouts came out so charred and really mushy as it if was over cooked. All in all, we had high expectation but the food overall felt like 3 stars. However, our waitress that evening was amazing and often checked on this. read more

This review is more like 3 and 1/2 stars and not three. This was our first time coming here. Reading the reviews, I thought I was going to be highly impressed. After dining here I was left underwhelmed, unfortunately. Came here early for our reservation on a Saturday evening. We had to wait a bit to be seated, but that was expected. It was super busy! The restaurant is very sleek and gives fancy vibes, but it isn't fancy. They had cocktail specials for the day. I ordered one of the ones that had gin in it. The waitress came back and said they couldn't make that cocktail because they were out of that gin. Why they couldn't make it with another gin is beyond me because it wasn't a special gin, but I digress. I instead got the $17 Strawberry Gin Smash which had ZERO strawberry in it. So weird and confusing. For my entree I had the Angel Hair and Chicken. It was just meh. Nothing to write home about. Dessert was a bit better. Had the Banana Betty Parfait. It was good, but nothing that wowed me. That was the whole concensus of the night. Just okay. Nothing spectacular. At the beginning of our meal, I asked for a separate check and she obliged. The pasta was good but it was a bit more on the dry side for me, if it had a bit more sauce it would've been perfect. I got it with chicken but it tasted like frozen chicken just cooked. The texture wasn't the best. And the mashed potatoes were a bit bland for me, probably wouldn't order that again. It was busy on Easter, pretty packed so it made the service kind of mid. Our server gave us our check and probably took another 30 mins to check up on us again to take the payment. But overall, the ambiance was nice. read more

Unfortunately this place FELL OFF. It is under new management in 2026 and the vibe and quality of food are not the same. The old manager brought a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Now the lights are bright, the food is bad and the management is cold. My family and friends have been going for years and we told everyone not to waste their time on overpriced mediocre food and atmosphere. I had a horrible dining experience Saturday twice we sent back food and twice it was way undercooked it was nowhere near well done the hamburger. and the meatloaf tasted better back in the service. The only saving grace is that the people that worked there are very charming and pleasant. The menu has changed drastically with some very odd phrases and the food was very subpar. Had a nice dinner at Mim's. It is a very large restaurant with multiple sections and a very nice vibe. Even though very busy the staff was very friendly and helpful. The appetizers were very good, including the tuna tar tar and shrimp dumplings. The main courses were ok, but not the best and is the thing that would possibly hold me back from going again. Chicken parm was ok, not a lot of flavor. And the pot pie, that I was looking forward to, was just ok. It was huge, but the filling was a bit thin and lacked a strong flavor. read more

Jimmy was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with, both in the planning of the event as well as overseeing everything the night of. And This was not a gratuity it was a charge for a party over 5. No reason why. They waves the fee because we were not informed when we made the reservation. But that is just ridiculous. Second year coming here for Passover special dinner and again we were highly impressed! Not only was the food phenomenal, but great portion sizes and great price for a Passover-style meal. Seder plate included upon request, haggadah included upon request. Basket of matzo instead of bread for the table. Our server Angelo was so nice, helpful, patient and attentive. 3 people so we each ordered different items. First course - matzo ball soup (the broth was SO GOOD!), potato pancakes, chicken liver pate. Main course - lamb shank, salmon, brisket. The proteins were perfect (I sampled each!) and the sides that came with them were all good as well. We were full for dessert so only had a taste of the sorbet and the coconut flan, took the chocolate mousse home. There is also a matzo smores option as dessert for 2 ppl to share. We each ordered cappuccinos. Note that Passover reservations fill up quick so we had to take an early reservation. Next year we'll try reserving further in advance! read more

Terrible dining experience at Mims. Waited over 15 minutes just to get menus. Service was slow at times but the server seemed to have a lot of tables. The bread was extremely hard, even the server was surprised at how hard it was. The appetizers came out lukewarm but we didn't complain. One of our dinners came out cold which we did complain complaint about. The server was very nice and apologetic and said he would ask the manager to come over. When the manager/owner finally came over he was extremely rude. His excuse for the food coming out cold was that they try to serve all of the meals at the same time so that happens. I've never heard this excuse at a restaurant. That's exactly what restaurants should be able to manage. He did make up for it by taking a little something off the bill, but I will not be going back there. As we were leaving, we heard other people complaining about their experience there. read more

Visited this restaurant for dinner with the family. They have a really good prix fix menu for dinner on weekdays. $40 for three course meal and a glass of wine. We throughly enjoyed every dish we received. My only knock was that the service was quite slow. The restaurant was empty on a Wednesday so I assumed, we'd get faster service. A few times, I noticed us looking for the waiter because we were either done with our meal and wanted dessert or we were ready for the bill. Just seemed a bit too long for such a slow night. Update. If you order before 6:00 PM some days during the week, you can get their early bird special, a three-course meal for just under $40. So I started with meatballs, had the double-thick pork chop (with Brussel sprouts and white beans), and ended with the apple crumb pie (topped with ice cream and whipped cream). It was a huge meal, all delicious. I didn't expect much from the Brussel sprouts and beans, but the chef made it work with a nice au jus sauce ... and the pork was soft and tasty despite being thick and cooked well done. I am not one to write Yelp reviews but felt like I had to here. My friend and I used to come here for the great food, reasonable prices and a good time. Now they changed the menu with different names and the price of the wine is astronomical. I am sorry but a glass of red wine at $19 is absurd. This is not Manhattan, it is Long island. The food is good but not worth the prices and service felt like we were being rushed. I expect more for the prices. read more

I'd never been here before but always saw it and wanted to check it out. The staff was friendly and the place was bustling. We started with a margherita pizza, which was not good. It looked like a circular Ellios pizza, really a disappointment. Our server recommended the rigatoni with steak. It was amazing. The steak had a smoky goodness and was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I did notice that it's fairly large with each section having it's own vibe. It was also kind of dark where we were sitting (in the back). We started with these appetizers and they were great for the group: crispy chili pop shrimp, the sweet Italian pizza and the kung pao cauliflower. All the entrees were well received: chopped cobb salad (was standard), grilled steak sandwich (very large and generous with the steak), grilled skirt steak (nice size), BBQ baby back ribs, rigatoni & blackened skirt steak (delicious), and lemon sole oreganata (surprisingly a good size portion with the pasta). Mim's had been on my list for years, so after "Covid Interruptus" I was in the area and finally stopped by for lunch. Glad I did! Cocktails were very good although I would have liked some fresh fruit in my sangria. Marinated skirt steak was tender and flavorful, a generous helping. My chicken pot pie was fantastic, a warm creamy mix of chicken and veggies nestled in a flaky homemade crust draped over the edge of the bowl. I barely finished it, but still soldiered on with a slice of oreo mousse pie for dessert. It wasn't creamy as I had expected from mousse, but the pie's dense chocolatey goodness and fresh whipped cream topping was well worth the calorie splurge. Service was prompt and friendly. Mim's does get crowded so reservations are recommended. They offer discounted specials on certain days (BBQ chicken/ribs on Tuesdays, Steak on Thursdays) so check out their website/FB to see what's on offer. They have valet parking (sigh) - the norm in these busy parts nowadays. read more

WON'T BE BACK! Everything can improve! NYE 7 pm and they can't get it together. On arrival half the place was empty & we still couldn't get a waiter. We flagged a bus boy who got us our soda & it was downhill from there. Service, if you could call it that, was horrible and inconsistent. The food was mediocre at best and unnecessarily expensive. My husband's $45 steak was around the size of a deck of cards but thinner. It was overcooked & over salted. It took another 20 minutes to get him a different dish. Cozy neighborhood restaurant, valet available. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Pretty busy for a Tuesday night, made a last minute reservation on open table and was seated right away. For appetizers we tried the French onion soup, chili shrimp (similar to bang bang shrimp), & Buffalo spring rolls. All were delicious, perfect portion size. Entrees- I had the short rib ravioli special which is topped with skirt steak, large portion, very good! Served with a creamy sauce & mushrooms. My friend had the rigatoni with skirt steak, also and large portion, not as saucy as my dish. The steak was cooked perfectly but not spicy as described for being blackened. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. This restaurant is clearly the blind leading the blind. We hosted an event at this restaurant and there were several issues. Besides the fact that it was 60° indoors we were told quite literally that we had 90 seconds to order our main entree after we ordered appetizers. Never in my life has someone given me a time cap on when to order my meal when the first round of drinks still hasnt been delivered 30 minutes after ordering. Food took well over 1.5 hours and when it came out the hosts food was cold. There is CLEARLY many issues with management at this restaurant, doesnt take a rocket scientist to see it. Food is slow, waiters are rude, cant accomplish much when you enable the people under you to be rude as fuck. Waiter has a table of 14 people and after the food comes out he never came back to the table. The meal is done for 30 mins and after giving dessert menus the waiter never comes over to offer dessert or coffee, we have to go to the bar to get our check delivered. Do yourself a favor and go grab a meal anywhere else. The management was pissed from the jump that we had a big party and looked like they wanted nothing to do with accommodations while the owner did everything he could to rush us out because it was a Saturday. Overpriced spot in a decent neighborhood that will inevitably flop due to poor management. Spare yourself. read more
