This review is more like 3 and 1/2 stars and not three. This was our first time coming here. Reading the reviews, I thought I was going to be highly impressed. After dining here I was left underwhelmed, unfortunately. Came here early for our reservation on a Saturday evening. We had to wait a bit to be seated, but that was expected. It was super busy! The restaurant is very sleek and gives fancy vibes, but it isn't fancy. They had cocktail specials for the day. I ordered one of the ones that had gin in it. The waitress came back and said they couldn't make that cocktail because they were out of that gin. Why they couldn't make it with another gin is beyond me because it wasn't a special gin, but I digress. I instead got the $17 Strawberry Gin Smash which had ZERO strawberry in it. So weird and confusing. For my entree I had the Angel Hair and Chicken. It was just meh. Nothing to write home about. Dessert was a bit better. Had the Banana Betty Parfait. It was good, but nothing that wowed me. That was the whole concensus of the night. Just okay. Nothing spectacular. At the beginning of our meal, I asked for a separate check and she obliged. She brought out 1 check at the end. Annoying. Probably won't be coming out of my way to come back here.

We had dined here about a month ago as we were in the Port Washington area and decided to come here on a whim for dinner. Walking in, it does appear to be what the place was described, which is a cozy restauarant with a pub like feel. Lots of ample seating both by the bar area and larger tables in the back. I ordered the steak sandwich cooked to medium rare along with sweet potatoes. I do like the presentation and it being on a ciabatta bread but wish the steak were sliced thinner...very minor complaint really. My son got the meatloaf which came with broccoli and roasted potatoes. He felt the roasted potatoes were a bit one note and found the overall entree to be just okay. My wife got the cedar plan roasted salmon with brussel sprouts. Her one major complaint was that the brussel sprouts came out so charred and really mushy as it if was over cooked. All in all, we had high expectation but the food overall felt like 3 stars. However, our waitress that evening was amazing and often checked on this.

Nice restaurant. Prices a little high I think for lunch , but food was good, service was excellent. Soda was $4.75 and no refills. Cappuccino was $6.50 for a very small cup . They put a small bread basket on the table with butter and humus. They have nice divided areas for smaller groups , and separate area for private parties as well.

The pasta was good but it was a bit more on the dry side for me, if it had a bit more sauce it would've been perfect. I got it with chicken but it tasted like frozen chicken just cooked. The texture wasn't the best. And the mashed potatoes were a bit bland for me, probably wouldn't order that again. It was busy on Easter, pretty packed so it made the service kind of mid. Our server gave us our check and probably took another 30 mins to check up on us again to take the payment. But overall, the ambiance was nice.

I had a horrible dining experience Saturday twice we sent back food and twice it was way undercooked it was nowhere near well done the hamburger. and the meatloaf tasted better back in the service. The only saving grace is that the people that worked there are very charming and pleasant. The menu has changed drastically with some very odd phrases and the food was very subpar. I've always given this place. Excellent reviews this time very disappointed. I know places have an off night, but this is way off. Everybody deserves a second chance..

Jeanine herself is so warm and accommodating and is such a sincere and kind person. On one visit when I was in a rush picking up dinner for my mom, she went above and beyond to quickly prepare the most perfectly tender chicken cutlet with vegetables in just minutes. On my most recent visit, I had the most delicious chicken parm with ziti I have ever had in my life. The ziti was not only perfectly cooked, but the sauce - wow! It was something out of this world. The best I've ever had. I can't even properly describe how incredible it was - you have to try it for yourself! While I was waiting, someone at the bar overheard my order and told me how amazing it was and said that I am going to love it! She was absolutely right. I've also had their brick oven pizza many times - they make it fresh right in front of you in minutes and it's absolutely delicious. I can't believe how quickly they prepare such phenomenal food across the board. The prices are incredibly reasonable for such high-quality, home-cooked style food. You can absolutely really taste the care and quality in everything they make. Jeanine's is the best - I highly recommend!

Cons: I've called this place 4 times in past couple of months for a pick-up order. First time was great and picked up the food and fell in love so much so that it would be a regular on a night that I'd pick up rather than cook. Second time I called and was told to hold on and I literally timed it. After 10 minutes, no one picked up but could hear all the chatter from the bar patrons. Third time I called it was probably picked up by a bar patrons that sounded like he really enjoyed his liquids. Needless to say, he placed me down on bar and after what seemed like a few minutes, I was hung up on. The last and final time I attempted to call for pickup, no one ever picked up the phone. Final result: I believe if you plan on going up there and dealing with the wait, then the food is worth it. As for me being a regular customer, they've lost my business. If they had a working website or some other way of ordering, I may try them again. Otherwise, I won't go there unless I plan to sit and eat there or indulge at the bar: The potential for a great business is there, but maybe they only want to remain as a bar to their regulars.

The restaurant, Gatsby's Landing, draws its name from the romantic nostalgia of The Great Gatsby. Situated near the Long Island Sound and Roslyn Pond, the setting offered a beautiful waterfront ambiance. My wife opted for the Baby Roasted Beets Salad, Salmon, and Crème Brûlée, while I chose the Lobster Bisque, Squid Ink Tonnarelli, and Tiramisu. The menu highlights their commitment to fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients - a promise they certainly delivered on. The dishes were both delicious and generously portioned. It was clear the kitchen doesn't skimp on quality; for instance, the lobster bisque was loaded with tender lobster meat, the squid ink tonnarelli featured an abundance of blue crab, and the salmon was a substantial, thick-cut fillet. The chef clearly possesses a mastery of technique, knowing exactly how to pair garnishes and balance flavors in perfect harmony. Furthermore, the waitstaff was both diligent and courteous. We can see why this establishment is so popular--the combination of exceptional cuisine, attentive service, and the serene lake views is hard to beat. However, there is one area for improvement: the restaurant should consider replacing their current chipped plates with larger, more elegant dinnerware. High-quality presentation would better reflect the dignity and caliber of the food they serve.

We stayed in the bar area as that takes up the majority of the interior; there are, however, some booths and a separate room with tables. Decor was simple - typical bar/pub aesthetics. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived so we had our choice of seats which was nice. The menu was more extensive than I expected. There's a selection of apps, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, soups, fajitas, and burgers - with several sections having a "make your own" option. I decided to go with a sandwich - specifically, the chicken pesto was speaking to me. This was grilled chicken with mozz, pesto sauce, and roasted red peppers on a roll. The sandwich was good - flavorful with all the components marrying well together. The bread was also soft enough that it broke through my bites; I was concerned being a hard roll that it would be too tough, but the consistency was perfect. I opted for tots instead of fries on the side which were good as well. Service was good - our server was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the Barefoot Peddler. The food was tasty, and I wouldn't hesitate to return if I'm in the area again.

We were seated immediately in the room toward the back left corner where we were the only table occupying the space. In fact, as the evening progressed, no other diners/groups were seated back there, which was nice. We observed that although it was a Friday evening at prime dinner hour, the restaurant never got too full nor was the bar area buzzing. Again, it was nice that it wasn't so hectic in there, but we noted that as curious for a spot like this, on a Friday evening, and when the weather was pleasant. Starting with a high point: our server was really good. He was a very nice young man who let us know at the end of our meal that it was actually his first day on the job. While we could tell he didn't know everything about the menu - which is totally understandable given him being a new hire - he was kind, personable, and went above and beyond to provide excellent and timely service. As for the venue, it was nice although not upscale and that was just our speed for this evening. We loved having the room to sit comfortably at a setup that could comfortably seat 8. As for the food, it was decent although I wouldn't call anything I tasted fantastic. For apps, we shared 2 orders apiece of calamari, crab cakes, and lamb chops (6 apps total) with the chops being my favorite out of those. The calamari were small and didn't pack a lot of flavor but they were fried well. The marinara sauce that came with it was also fine but not remarkable. The crab cakes were a little mushy for our liking. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Rigatoni. There was plenty of lobster on top, the portion was more than solid, and it came out at the right temperature but the flavor again failed to really impress and was somewhere between "fine" to "good". For dessert, I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was truly disappointed by that. For starters, there was no gooey "lava" as the name implied, and the edges were dry and seemed overcooked. The flavor again fell a little flat and I didn't bother to finish it even though I am usually a huge fan of chocolate desserts. All in all, we had an enjoyable evening as a crew, but the food could be elevated a bit from a flavor standpoint. I would give the food a little better than a "3" but I think they have enough going for them that amping up the flavors could do wonders for their desirability and drawing more diners.
