To celebrate Valentine's Day, my wife and I enjoyed a $38 three-course prix fixe lunch. Although the public parking lot was full, we managed to find a spot for $2 for two hours. The restaurant, Gatsby's Landing, draws its name from the romantic nostalgia of The Great Gatsby. Situated near the Long Island Sound and Roslyn Pond, the setting offered a beautiful waterfront ambiance. My wife opted for the Baby Roasted Beets Salad, Salmon, and Crème Brûlée, while I chose the Lobster Bisque, Squid Ink Tonnarelli, and Tiramisu. The menu highlights their commitment to fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients - a promise they certainly delivered on. The dishes were both delicious and generously portioned. It was clear the kitchen doesn't skimp on quality; for instance, the lobster bisque was loaded with tender lobster meat, the squid ink tonnarelli featured an abundance of blue crab, and the salmon was a substantial, thick-cut fillet. The chef clearly possesses a mastery of technique, knowing exactly how to pair garnishes and balance flavors in perfect harmony. Furthermore, the waitstaff was both diligent and courteous. We can see why this establishment is so popular--the combination of exceptional cuisine, attentive service, and the serene lake views is hard to beat. However, there is one area for improvement: the restaurant should consider replacing their current chipped plates with larger, more elegant dinnerware. This spot has been on my places-to-try list for some time and we finally made it here for a birthday dinner. As a bookworm, I enjoyed the decor and the Gatsby vibes of the spot - very swanky. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, bringing us our drinks and food promptly. The food was really good! The Grille Octopus app was fantastic! We went with Lamb and Pork Chops as our entrees - I preferred the Lamb to the Pork, way more tender and flavorful. Drinks were unique but a bit watered down, which wasn't too bad. Overall, this was a nice spot that I plan to revisit in the summer so we can sit outside near the water. read more

Another gym friend's date night at another hot spot. Welcome to Gatsby's landing. We were pleasantly surprised with the menu and cocktails were on point. Check out the pictures for more descriptions. I had the menu items off the price fixe menu. Started with the mussels and that was a banger!! The bread was so perfect coated in garlic and went with the broth of the mussels perfectly. Next I had the short rib ravioli and it was so flavorful and you can really taste the meat of the shortrib. Sauce was well balanced and was able to cut thru the richness of the short rib and leave a very nice rounded and well balanced flavor. I had the F Scot Old Sport and not being a gin drinker it was so smooth and delicious. Drink was so good that I got a second one before the main came. Wifey got the lobster bisque - I got to try some but I think I prefer more lobster in my bisque. The flavor was on point. For her main, she got the lamb shank and Yukon gold mashed potatoes and asparagus; had I known it was gonna be as good I would have ordered the same thing. The lamb was phenomenal. And finally for dessert we opted for the strawberries and the sorbet trio. Sorbet was Perfectly light and a great way to end the night. Service was impeccable and everything was very well executed. This restaurant has everything going for it except the food. The location directly on Roslyn duckpond is absolutely stunning. The interior of the restaurant is also quite acceptable. I just wish the food matched it. On a Labor Day weekend we came at 5 o'clock and the restaurant was quite empty. I usually go by the parking lot rules if there's a lot of cars there that means it's a good restaurant. The parking lot was empty. After requesting an outdoor table, we were seated promptly and the staff were right on it. The staff ate attentive, polite, and overall quite good. We ordered calamari for an appetizer. For dinner, We had shrimp stuffed ravioli and I had pasta with scallops and mussels. The calamari were so big that you could almost fit your hand through them, which made them ultra tough we had to cut them with a knife to get them small enough to eat When we cut them small enough they were quite tasty and the sauces were delightful. OK, let's talk about dinner. The ravioli had a yellow interior which was quite weird. We asked the waiter if this was OK and he said it was with shrimp. I thought shrimp were white, not yellow! The pasta with muscles and scallop, I think the top of the pepper container fell off. I spent a half hour scraping off the pepper flakes. Only savior was I like pepper. Clearly after this we had to go get some type of dessert to wash down the very unusual flavors, just not here. Maybe that's why the restaurant was empty. Maybe it was a holiday weekend I don't know. I try to avoid leaving negative reviews and usually just don't return to places that disappoint me, but I felt this one was necessary given the experience. I took my family to Gatsby's Landing for Mother's Day and spent around $450 for 6 people (6 entrees, 3 appetizers, 2 beers, and 1 cocktail). From the start, the table was not properly set -- we had no cups, plates, or utensils, and even the bread runner had to step in to bring us plates. Service throughout was very slow and inattentive; we were barely checked on and our water was never refilled. Our food also took over an hour to arrive. When the food finally came, about half of the entrees were cold. The pasta was hard and seemed undercooked or reheated, the steak was bland, and the oysters were very small (nothing like previous pictures) and did not seem fresh, especially for the price. Even the cocktail, which was close to $20, barely had any alcohol. To their credit, the manager did try to make things right by remaking a pasta dish, and they honored my request for a window seat with a nice view, which I appreciated. However, by that point most of the table was already ready to leave after a long wait. Overall, for the price and occasion, the food and service fell far short of expectations and what should have been a special Mother's Day dinner was very disappointing. read more

Came here for lunch. The place was exactly what we were looking for... Inexpensive, elegant, and romantic atmosphere! The place was busy on weekends but wasn't busy on weekdays. The service and food were amazing! The food was fresh and came out fast. Their menu has many options to offer, including gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free options. Good thing that the complimentary bread with olive oil is gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. I had Mussels Pots, Branzino, Assorted Fresh Fruit, and a cappuccino with almond milk. This place makes me sad, my friends took me here for my bday and the restaurant itself is beautiful and even though it was the evening, it was right on the lake so the daytime views should be amazing. As a whole, the food had no flavor, I am usually the first to say something is a bit salty but this might be the first time i ever dined out and felt everything was under seasoned and that says a lot. It tasted like they forgot to add salt, butter, cream, anything to give it flavor. Also, the texture of the potato was off too, it felt the potato was oddly seperating. Branzino- Pan-Seared Mediterranean Sea Bass, Fennel Puree, Baby Spinach, Sauce Vierge. The fish was fine but it was missing that nice crispy skin you look for on any pan fried fish dish. And similar to the potatoes above, the spinach had zero seasoning and zero flavor, I don't even think they added oil to cook it in. Truffle Fries- Shaved Parmesan. The stars are mostly for the service. The wait staff, host, and manager were all incredibly attentive, making sure every table had a great experience. The menu offers a little something for everyone, so you're bound to find something that catches your eye. We happened to hit the brunch rush, so while service started off quick and attentive, it did slow down a bit toward the end--which was understandable given how busy it was. The open kitchen concept was a nice touch, letting us see the chefs in action. As for the food, the octopus was a standout--great flavor and a generous portion. The duck, on the other hand, was disappointing since there was barely any meat but it was tasty so just note you may need two orders. The Brussels sprouts were missing the balsamic glaze they were supposed to have, so we had to ask for more. The shrimp egg frittata was slightly overcooked, but the crab squid ink pasta had a rich, flavorful taste, and you could tell the pasta was homemade. Our family took our mother/grandmother here to celebrate her 85th b'day. Initial impression was lovely. The setting was aesthetically pleasing. The manager, Derek, was polite & attentive. Our busser, Alejandro, was very personable & attentive, as was our server Natasha. No fault at all in the area of service. However this was the only good thing. The meal was horrendous, from cocktails to desert. The mojito was so awful I actually gagged on my first sip & immediately sent it back. It literally tasted like water w/ some chemical added. Our server suggested a different cocktail, which was also just awful. As I am not one for confrontation, I just pushed that one to the side & did not drink it. We had bottled sparkling water w/ lemon wedges instead, which I guzzled to get that chemical taste off my tongue. Next came the appetizers -- I ordered Roasted Beets w/ Baby Arugula, Feta, Candied Walnuts -- which was delicious. Greens & feta were fresh, candied walnuts were crisp & yummy. This was the best & only part of the meal I enjoyed. It gave me hope after those chemical cocktail sips. However, hope was dashed when the crab cakes were served -- oily crust, dry meat & so bland we weren't even sure what we were eating. A few bites in, we gave up on those. We tried to laugh about everything thus far in order to keep our matriarch's b'day dinner on an upswing. Next came the main meal. Most of us ordered the Grass Fed Beef Short Ribs & one ordered the Bronzino. Our b'day laughter skidded to a complete stop. The short ribs were so short on meat that the fat was blatantly visible. Each one of us stared down at the 75% blubber/25% meat we were served. Nevertheless, we rallied to keep the b'day dinner pleasant & spent the next 20 min foraging thru fat for bits of meat that, when found, were correctly tender but completely bland. As well, my sister commented about her Bronzino, "I don't taste anything. It's chewy nothingness." We also ordered sides of the Truffle Fries (which looked appealing but tasted like biting into whole cloves of garlic), Crispy Brussel Sprouts (which were drenched in oil & tough as leather) & an order of regular fries, which were surprisingly perfectly delicious. Needless to say, we passed on dessert. As we discussed where to stop on the way home to pick up something to eat (because other than the salad, plain fries & the bits of meat we foraged thru fat for, we had not eaten our disastrous meals & were hungry), the check came. Shock & Awe does not begin to describe this bill. The prices they charge in relation to the non-palatable mess they serve is outrageous. And we are a family of travelers who dine out at fine establishments all over the U.S. & abroad. This is the first time we've left a restaurant feeling scammed, gyped, bamboozled. Quite possibly the best burger I've ever had. $28 is a little steep for a lowly hamburger but this, ladies and gentlemen, is anything but. Yes, the burger is charred on a grill but the mixture of the rare and savory Italian Taleggio cheese was a masterstroke. Bacon? No mere bacon here. More like pork belly! Smokey and salty. Arugula finished it off with a little corniche. BUT WAIT! The truffle fries, to die for. My friend got the special Fradiavolo with seafood - scallops cooked to perfection with mussels in a spicy sauce. We shared the baked clams and they were (as is so often the case) NOT overcooked but had a good texture- not just a glob of breadcrumbs. The view though, is what really sets this place apart. This long awaited review is from my January visit for Restaurant Week. I've seen tons of press about this location, so was happy to see delicious options on their Restaurant Week menu and immediately made a reservation on Open table. We didn't have a problem finding parking but with their unassuming storefront, we would've walked right past it. Once inside, it was a glamorous interior opening to a bar. We were greeted and immediately taken to our booth by the kitchen. A dark dining room with nicely placed lighting, set a romantic mood. Behind me, was another room with a view of the water, which at nighttime was so serene. We had looked at the menu prior to arrival, so ordering was easy. Our server, a gorgeous young man, had taken our order. Turns out he is Glenn's (the owners) son! He welcomed us and was very pleasant and professional. We started with the arugula apple salad, which had nice crisp slices of apple, along with huge chunks of blue cheese. The vinaigrette was the perfect amount. We also ordered the artisanal flatbread which peaches, mascarpone and a balsamic glaze. So yummy!! My friend and I both got the lamb shank served over mashed potatoes with broccolini. Fall off the bone! Delicious, especially because I don't eat lamb often. As for dessert, the signature s'mores sundae was a must and presented so nicely in a clear cup to see the layers. Was lucky enough to find this place the first night in town. My brother and I had duck with fruit sauce of which he said was very good I had the rack of lamb with cherries, and it was absolutely delicious. We arrived not knowing they were only open till 9:00 (about when we arrived) and they were good with seating us immediately and giving us all the attention they could and very nice staff. My wife and I really took advantage of restaurant week and visited a lot of shops that we have wanted to try for a while. Gatsby's Landing was on the list so we stopped in for dinner. A 10 minute ride for us in an area I have been coming to for 50+ years. Roslyn has a very conveniently located parking lot on Old Northern Blvd. ja few stores away from the restaurant. Just a beautiful location facing Gerry Park (The old Roslyn Duck Pond). A very comfortable venue and an open kitchen makes it a fun spot. It was a very complete restaurant menu for the "RW specials." Extremely easy ordering. Everything was fantastic. All food was extremely FRESH-TASTY with delicious sauce. The service was perfect with our very attentive waiter and an extremely friendly general manager. Although very pleasant , not very well versed in....food/dining lol. specials weren't offered until we asked what they were , most of the dishes were mispronounced , wrong food was brought out etc (i think this was due to a language barrier ) very mid food overall. cocktails weren't very good. the tuna tartare was terrible ....ruined by mixing it with a disgusting mayo and topping it with brown, puréed avocado . The dressing on the accompanying salad was inedible - sweet soy sauce ? Delighted that we made it to brunch as we walked in on a Sunday at 1: 45 pm. Beautiful interior but would be nicer to dine outdoor with a beautiful sight of the pond. Oh well ! It's early February . We have a view from inside thru the window though. We could always arrange a return visit most probably during g summertime. We ordered pancakes, steak and eggs with fried potatoes as sides. I had espresso martini as my cocktails and my girl had white sangria. This place is Known for American food, and yes, our expectations were met. The service is fast. The waitstaff is nice. It was not my first time at the restaurant. I liked it so much that we decided it make it a place for Easter dinner last Sunday. The food was delicious, the ambiance quite lovely, and we enjoyed quality service. I found this place for the first time when dropping off my son at Hofstra bc of the restaurant's name. I love the Great Gatsby. So glad I decided to go with my gut, and looking at the menu of course. Note: The outdoor seating is a lovely option in warmer months. Enjoying a nice view while eating is quite memorable. Finally, if you have never been to Roslyn, you would want to check it out. It's a nice town not devoid of personality unlike some places on Long Island. As for food, pasta is made in house and it's very tasty. Branzino was done well (perhaps a bit crispier skin would have been better). Fennel purée was silky and flavorful. Steak entree my son had was good, but the fried well seasoned artichokes stole the show. Finally, we were too full to enjoy tiramisu, but my son took it to go and he said it was outstanding. Considering we enjoyed it all over the US and in Italy, I trust his opinion. The place is worth a try. There is another location near the Times Square, but we have not been there. read more

We visited Gatsby's Landing for lunch on a Thursday, and they were able to accommodate our party of 9 (with a reservation made in advance). The interior was nicely decorated with blue walls, framed art, chandeliers, and comfortable booths/tables. They had an extensive cocktail menu, featuring two mocktails. I ended up trying both of them, and while both were tasty, the Mint Basil Mojito was my favorite. My family loved their drinks as well, including the Peach Sangria, Autumn Smash, and Limoncello French Martini. The complimentary bread service was great - warm, fluffy bread rolls with butter. For appetizers, I shared the Salmon Crudo (special) and Gatsby's Sliders. The Salmon Crudo was easily my favorite item of the entire meal. Every part of it was incredible - the fresh salmon, avocado puree, and perfectly textured crispy rice. I highly recommend ordering this, if it's an option! The Gatsby's Sliders were tasty too, but pretty standard. For our entree, my sister and I split the Ravioli of the Day, which was ricotta-mushroom. We liked it a lot, and the dish was surprisingly filling. I also tried my brother's Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe, but wasn't a fan. It was less cheesy than expected, and the sauce was a bit bland. For dessert, three of us shared the Molten Chocolate Cake. While I liked the taste, I was expecting a lava cake, and this was more of a soufflé - no gooey center. However, I tried my grandma's Creme Brulee and that was fantastic. Overall, the food was solid and service was friendly, fast, and professional. Would return! read more

It's my wife's birthday month and it's a milestone. Brunch was a given but where lol she wanted to go to one of our regular places but I said no and said we should go here. Perfect day and it was great weather. Had a reservation for a 12 pm brunch. Unfortunately it's a narrow back patio and tables are setup for 2 or 4, we were 5. We got the table at the end and it was a perfect fit. Everything we had was delicious and nice portions. Had a dozen oysters, grilled octopus (so good), Crudo of the day (it was salmon), eggs Benedict, salmon Benedict and I had the sea bass special. Some bloody Mary's, espresso martini and some wine. Everyone raved about how good the food was, but the view was the best part. They sit right on Roslyn Pond - very scenic, especially with the fall colors. read more

I've heard good things about this place and so we tried it. Let me start by saying I'm tired of these types of places thinking they can just open a restaurant in a nice neighborhood with a nice view, serve ok food at best and charge whatever they want. For starters the front entrance had a terrible smell that was being masked by some heavy cleaning solution. We ate there for brunch and sat in the back with a really nice view of the pond and it was a beautiful day. I ordered the duck hash and it was good so I was pleased. My friend had the steak and eggs and his steak was rare, like really rare! He ordered it medium. So they took it back and just recooked that piece which was weird. We also ordered the pork belly and honestly it was just thick cut bacon. Booooooooo!!! Not cool! The bloody's were decent but we've definitely had better. Also the seats in the back were so bad o couldn't even sit back because I felt like I was in a recliner. Hence my 2 starts. read more

With many LI eateries catering to boisterous "mommy groups", I was pleasantly surprised by Gatsby's chill adult vibe. Beautiful decor both inside and out with spacious seating throughout. Got a table out back under a large awning with a nice view of the duck pond. We both chose the 3 course price fixe lunch at $35.00. Unlike other establishments with limited offerings and/or miniscule portions, Gatsby's Landing offers a generous price fixe menu. Server Tonya was extremely friendly, efficient and fun. Started off with gratis golden rolls and butter; my oh my were they good! My appetizer of petite scallops with capers and cauliflower sauteed in brown butter was savory and scrumptious. Loved my "Gatsby Pasta" entree, comprised of fresh house made pasta (as are all pastas here), fried chicken cubes, asparagus, and tomatoes. Spicy and flavorful dish, a very generous portion with plenty to take home. My companion's squid ink tonnarelli with crab meat was toothsome and flavorful as well. Panna cotta dessert, a quivering dome of cool vanilla pudding studded with fresh fruit, was the perfect ending and a nice foil to the rich well spiced food. Pro tips: Metered street or lot parking in Roslyn until 8:00PM. (They'll ticket you in a heartbeat if you don't pay up but it's reasonable $ compared to NYC). Outdoor dining is first come first served so try to arrive early if you want that experience. Be prepared with your menu choices as they asked diners to choose all courses when ordering. We were here for a birthday/anniversary night and they didn't disappoint. We sat outside on their small but very comfortable patio. We enjoyed the view of the lake on a beautiful evening. Expensive and bad food. Had Gatsby's sliders and the short ribs. Sliders were over cooked to the point of being inedible, the short ribs were awful. The fries were ok. They were more interested in how many in our party and if we had reservations more than anything else. When we said 5 for lunch (in a mostly empty restaurant) they begrudgingly sat us. When they realized 2 of our party cancelled, the waiter literally looked at us and groaned. We were there to see if they had a private room to seat 30 (which there website said they did), they don't. Thank goodness we went there before booking anything. I wouldn't eat there again under any circumstances. If I could give ZERO stars I would. One STAR is generous. read more

So good! Sitting by the duck pond outside was so relaxing, and we feasted on deliciously-charred sliders, watermelon and blood-orange margaritas, huge kale Caesar salad, and such fresh oysters. Even their honey butter with the bread roll is sweet and so good. Coming back for dessert and more. 5 stars!!! read more

Went on a Sunday for brunch to celebrate a birthday. As a party of 8, we easily made a reservation in advance through call and staff was very accommodating. Our waitress Brianna was amazing and the service was impeccable! For appetizers we ordered mussels and fried calamari which were very tasty. The bread with honey butter was very addicting. For entree, some dishes we ordered were burgers and fries, fish of the day, and spaghetti e cacio pepe. A favorite was definitely the squid ink pasta with crab meat. We came for brunch on Sunday. The view in the back room of the pond was beautiful! Weight staff was very attentive and took great care of us. Everything was delicious! From the Kale cesar salad, to the frittata's, the flatbread and the soup. Extremely fresh and tasty ingredients. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Gatsby's Landing is a restaurant that specializes in American cuisine. They have two (2) locations - one in Roslyn (Long Island) and the other in NYC. The Roslyn spot overlooks a lake where I'm sure sunsets are breathtaking- however, it was raining the day we dined in. The food was good, but it's really the ambiance and atmosphere are really what make this place worth experiencing. We ordered: - calamari appetizer (3/5) - Brussel sprouts (3/5) - black squid ink pasta (5/5) The black squid ink is not on the menu so you'll have to ask for it. And it's definitely worth ordering! It's basically Blue Crab, Saffron, Calabrian Chili, Bottarga. They have daily specials so definitely make sure you take advantage of them! The service is professional, attentive and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Parking is metered street parking. Gatsby's Landing is definitely worth checking out for the ambiance and views. read more

Really enjoyed my time at Gatsby Landing. Service 5/5: great friendly staff and manager. Host was accommodating to my request to change tables and also was very polite Taste 4/5: steak was a little over cooked for medium. A lot of other yelpers seemed to love the octopus but I didn't see the hype over it. So I came in expecting better and was let down. Lamb was good and so was the short rib. Didn't try any of the pasta dishes this time around. Portions were great. Vibe 4/5 inside the decor has a nice cozy vibe and the wallpaper choices are fun.
