Just....such an odd joint. Patio seating is nice, all staff is friendly....but the food is not great? Margarita came with no ice, which is either a super odd creative decision, or a new bartender learning the ropes. Had to ask for ice and remake my own drink at the table. If this is the norm here, I like when servers inform you of a quirk that you might want to know about, i.e. "our margarita is served up, would you prefer it with ice?" But overall not a big deal at all. Delicious drink. But ugh the steak frites....asked for medium and got well done. I just don't understand the mishap here, especially as the steak is a cut served sliced so the chef got to see it first. I felt so gaslit about my knowledge of steak temps that I had to google a chart to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. Very tough and gamey, not a tasty cut for steak frites. They definitely try to cheap out with the cut here. Only one sauce option as well, again not a big deal, but I like a chimichurri or compound butter much more than au poivre. Went there for Valentines dinner and it was packed but well managed. It's a large restaurant and tables very close together, which I and clearly others weren't wild about. The table next to us asked to be moved as they said it was " too tight". The food was exceptional! Everything was prepared to perfection and presented well. It is pricey but in the end, worth it. Went he on Father's Day. Have been here many times but tonight fell very short. Ordered steak frites and sirloin. Both came out very well done. The manager 5 minutes later comes back with what he says is the steak frites I sent back and shows me a steak medium rare. I'm like that doesn't look anything like the steak I ordered and it's also ice cold. I ask for them to just make a new one please. He then gives us back the sirloin and steak frites completely uncooked. It's not warm and simply ice cold. My kids were shocked. When I approach the manager he is like this is medium rare and you should accept it bc it's the same people that trained at Bryant and cooper. We then sent these back and just got a burger, French dip and a grilled calamari. The French dip was also ice cold and the burger was burnt to a crisp while the calamari was drenched in butter. I didn't highlight this at the end but this was a very disappointing experience. We know what medium rare is and everything tonight was at extremes. I always say you can tell a restaurant by its burgers. Cooked perfectly but no taste. They garnish the plate with lettuce, tomato and red onion and a quarter of a pickle, which was still a cucumber. One of my favorite restaurant experiences lately. They have outdoor and inside seating and we sat outside which was nice and the inside was beautiful. The service is great and they make sure your glass is never empty. Their espresso martinis are delicious! We started with the escargot (a first time experience for me) and they were out of this world flavorful! I loved every single bite and dipped bread in the oil they were bathed in. The tuna tartare was super fresh and delicious. The steak frites were perfectly cooked and the French fries were so delicious. The Caesar salad was basic but so delicious. The start of the experience was weird with the host making an awkward comment about whether he could "make me happy" by seating us early because we came 10 min early. He also just seemed like a jerk. The servers were nice and polite though. We got a booth which I liked. It was busy on a Saturday night with a lively bar and happening music. The menu is eclectic ranging from chicken parm to French to salads to fish tacos. It made my husband and I skeptical about whether it would be good but we stuck to the French food and really enjoyed it! The bread basket was basic and good, plain well cooked French bread and butter. I had the Malbec and my husband had the Bordeaux which were both good but not great, with a generous pour we appreciated. The coconut curry mussels had an amazing sauce that I would definitely want again that came with perfect French fries. The filet mignon was a little smaller than I hoped it would be, but was perfectly cooked and seasoned and came with perfect French fries and good but not great sauce. The French onion soup was good but I don't know if I would order it again just because the sauce was a little watered down and it was more cheese than onion but it was good. This was a fine place to stop in for a quick lunch in the area. We were pretty simple and all ordered different salads. I got the Greek salad and thought it was pretty good. It was nice that it had a big chunk of feta cheese and enough olives. The service was helpful and relatively fast given our time crunch. Our waiter was kind and gave us iced teas to go as we paid the bill. My parents said their salads were fine. My dad's Caesar salad was a little bland and could have used some more cheese (in his mind). A last thing to note was the difference of the two spaces. Parking and making reservations for a party of 12 was relatively easy. The restaurant has a French gastropub look and has a lot of foot traffic. Their mussels, escargot, and clam oreganata were tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. Most of their dishes were good, my favorite was their French dip. It was one of the tastiest au jus I've had. Its consistency was perfect, it was not too thick (some restaurants are heavy with the corn starch) and a little more to the watery side which allows the bread to soak it up). It had a satisfying amount of roast beef in each bite. The linguine with wine clam sauce was also really good. However, that is rarely a dish a restaurant can mess up on. The tuna bowl wasn't bad, they could've added a few dashes of sesame oil or seaweed flakes to incorporate some Asian influence to the dish. The kids enjoyed their chicken strips with French fries and pasta dishes. Their apple tarte tatin was surprisingly very good considering it was one of the flatter tatins I've seen. The thin slices of apples went very well with their flaky crunchy tart crust. They topped it with vanilla ice cream which completes the bite. Their crème brûlée was good, what I would expect from any crème brûlée, nothing extraordinary. The food did take a long time to come out. We ordered 3 entrées- a cheeseburger, hanger steak, and pappardelle bolognese. Everything came out within a reasonable time. However, the burger and steak were terrible. Idk how you can mess up a burger- the pickle wasn't cut, the bread was oily, meat was too rare, and juices were squirting out everywhere. The steak was disgusting- it was chewy and had an almost liver-like flavor. Not to mention, the pomme frites that came with those entrées were soggy. My pappardelle bolognese was alright- it was bland, at least the ground meats tasted fresh. Sad to say, this will be my first and last time here. read more

We decided to drop by for lunch based on a friend's recommendation. I was seated right away; it wasn't a great seat, but it was super crowded, so I'm not going to complain. I could have opted for outdoor seating, but it was too nippy for me. The space looks like a Brasserie, inside and out. As I said, the place was packed, but I didn't feel like I was sitting in anyone's lap or elbow to elbow with my neighbors. The service was excellent; I only made eye contact with my waiter, and he came right away. Despite the crowd, our food orders came out fairly quickly. I had a Caesar salad, minus the cheese and tomatoes; I asked for dressing, not realizing there was already dressing, but he brought me more without protest. Many reviews complained about the fries but I took a handful of my partner's fries and they were nice and crispy. I guess the time of day made a difference. Another staffer practically walked me to the bathroom when I asked where it was. I was amazed at the ratio of staff to patrons, but from my vantage point, I did not see customers who didn't get immediate attentive service (to be clear, I don't have eyes in the back of my head nor can my vision bend around corners). I enjoyed Bar Frites, but the only drawback was the din of everyone talking was so distracting I could not have a conversation. I could barely hear myself think, so I ate in silence and forgot to take pictures (it's a ceasar salad though, you know what one looks like). The Thai mussels are a great starter, the sauce is delicious, the waiter forgot to give us bread which you will def want to dip in the leftover sauce. Served with or without fries, shareable portion. The grilled calamari is always my go to when I see it on a menu, this dish did not disappoint, little grilled and drizzled with olive oil. For entree I was very disappointed in the steak frites, I mean the restaurant is called Bar Frites! This dish was mediocre at best, nothing to write home about. The sliders are a better option. Had a charming Parisian yet American courtyard feel to it. Rolled in on a weekday right after work. Didn't see any happy hour specials, so I just grabbed a beer. Only macros on draft. I had an offering from Sam Adams. I was prepared to split, but the Balvenie 21 caught my eye. Bartender quoted me $33 for a 2 oz pour and I decided to keep the good times rolling. Bartender gave me a generous pour which I tremendously appreciated. He also accommodated my unusual glass change request; I decided to switch from an old fashioned glass to a snifter which greatly helped the whiskey. Given the pour, I decided to couple it with food. In honor of the namesake, I opted for the half order of mussels in leeks pernod sauce. The half order did not come with fries, but it did come with a basket of bread. My partner and I decided to stop by one night but that was a mistake. Even though we sat in front of the bar area and saw a multitude of staff around, it felt like we were completely forgotten. We only spoke to our server TWO TIMES total. One time taking our order and another time asking if we wanted dessert before our check. (Food runners delivered his food so he didn't interact with us then.) He didn't even check up on us during the meal to see how our food came out. On top of that, we think we ordered the two worst entrees on the menu. Beef Tartare - 10/10 - I think this might be biased since it's the ONLY yummy and edible thing we got Grilled Calamari - 0/10 - It was oil + squid + char Cheeseburger - negative 10/10 - HOW DO YOU MESS UP A BURGER?! Not only was the bottom bun completely soaked in oil, the burger meat texture was horrendous. It crumbled in the complete wrong way (not like how a burger meat should.) Wild Mushroom Pasta - 0/10 - I'm not putting this in the negatives for the fact that the mushrooms actually tasted great. What went wrong was the fact that it was just overcooked pasta in a pool of butter. There was no flavor at all and it had way too much butter/oil. All in all, I will never come again for food. I came here on a Saturday, around 12:30. We were told there was a 15 minute wait but we were seated within 10 min. It was very crowded and it is very loud. The tables are close to one another. They took our orders for sodas and we all enjoyed the glass bottle of coke. Love that! After about ten minutes we ordered. The burgers are a nice size and they were good. I just dont think they are $24.00 good. Seriously. I feel the burgers were as good as any other restaurant but certainly not better. The price is over the top. My mom and I put our name on the waitlist they said a 15-30 min wait but we were seated within 5 mins. When we sat the waiter was attentive and took our drink order, I did notice other tables getting bread so I did have to end up asking for my own bread. they served with butter so I did also ask for oil. We both ordered cheeseburgers and my 4 year old son ordered kids meal spaghetti with butter. The burgers were cooked good & I really enjoyed the fries. It was pretty pricey though - $24 for a burger? It was a good burger but I don't believe $24 good. My sons pasta with butter which came with a drink was $17!!! We didn't order alcohol but each cocktail was $20.
