I went to the shop and the space is like entering a fantasy world, every item was so exquisite and perfect. I couldn't decide between the arrangement but orchids are my faves. Finally decided for one for my entrance and was delivered the same day. read more

I ordered flowers to be delivered to friends in New York as Ovando came recommended to me by these friends. I ordered lilies to be sent as a loose English garden arrangement, not tight and structured. The arrangement cost a total of $435 and legit looks like it came from my local grocery store. It was hideous, and looked like tall soldiers with ugly greenery around you would find in an arrangement pre-made at the store. The recipients were not happy either. Just overall disappointed and would not use Ovando again when sending flowers in New York. Only giving two stars because the person who took my order was really helpful and nice. I asked for a partial refund and they gave me $54, laughable. I could have made a better arrangement myself from Trader Joe's lilies. Do not use Ovando, you're better off visiting your local grocery store. Wasn't planning on writing this review but dealing with them after the fact and receiving that refund is insulting. read more

So disappointed. I used them many times prior to the pandemic. I called today. The gentleman who answered seemed irritated. I chose a $300 floral and wanted to send a card. They only have small cards that could not take my 3 line condolence message. In order to have a longer message I had to courier a card to them. Seriously? I chose to hang up and go to Alexander Florist who happily took my order within 5 minutes, no problem. Be aware. read more

Have to say although the design is beautiful, the flowers don't last like other arrangements I have ordered from others in the past. Based on the quality and workmanship of this arrangement, it should have lasted more than 2 days. The flowers were picked up on Friday and by Saturday night the arrangement already had to be thrown out. I couldn't even really enjoy it. read more

Celene Aguilar & OVANDO did a simply outstanding job helping with a very important event. From executing on my vision, to detail I hadn't yet realized I would need, to following up on punch list items while she was on holiday, I have nothing but great things to say about my experience with her and OVANDO. Thank you again! read more

This small boutique holds some of the coolest floral designs I've witnessed. You know this place is legit when almost every person stops right in front of the store to take a instagram photo and #ovando. The store itself is pretty small but the arrangements and and cacti are all real. The price range is pretty expensive for real flowers that last a couple days but I think it;s worth it if you like it. Come here to see what they offer! read more

I always dislike writing a bad review, but it is unfortunate when florists take advantage of customers by using less expensive flowers when more expensive ones were paid for. For my birthday, my parents sent me a bouquet of flowers, which I took a picture of and emailed to them to say thank you. Immediately thereafter my mother called and asked whether there were any orchids in the bouquet because she didn't see any in the photo. The bouquet was put together beautifully, but it was 95% colored carnations- there were about 3-4 purple orchid flowers in the whole arrangement. My mother, who lives out of state, was upset because she paid $175 for a "bouquet of orchids" only to have a bunch of colored carnations delivered. Needless to say we won't be using Ovando in the future. read more

The store's gorgeous window displays will stop you in your tracks. Dramatic, modern, stunning. Exotic flowers, extraordinary vases. Inside, the space is small & filled with product. Stylish items surround you at every turn. However, the flowers look a bit aged -- Probably not the place to look if you want to buy fresh florals on a whim. In fact, I would advise calling ahead to check inventories if you have something specific in mind. Check their website for ideas. I love their signature arrangement -- Window Box. (Hint, Hint) This is the place to go if you are looking to impress your dinner guests or that special someone in your life. read more

So I can't even comment on the beauty of an arrangement, because I was cut off and hung up on before I could even place the order. Let me explain: I tried to order a few arrangements and had asked if they could waive the delivery fee. I was told no and I could pick up the arrangements myself. I answered that no I couldn't do that, but before I could even say, "let's just send them," I was interrupted with, "ok, have a nice day!" and hung up on. Cute customer service for such a high end place. read more

Ovando did the flowers for our wedding at the end of March. We choose them because we loved the flowers in their retail store - and were willing to pay top dollar to get the same for our wedding. That proved to be the wrong move. Not only were there flowers expensive to begin with, when we went back for our sample closer to the wedding they tried to upsell us more than 50% more than our original quote. We were taken aback and was not the first time in the process that we had communication issues with them. But we were willing to deal with some of the back office challenges IF the flowers on the day of the wedding were amazing. But they weren't close to that. Our Chupah was smaller than what we were promised, and some of the other centerpieces underwhelmed too but the worst problem was the white cherry blossoms started dying. In fact, we had to have them come back and add new ones to our Chupah before the ceremony - which fortunately they did. But the centerpieces suffered from the same problem of dying in the middle of the party - and that was coupled with the sloppy glue work which made the vase look cheap and unprofessional. I brought all of this up to them after the event and offered to show them pictures, but the response I got showed their lack of concern. I would not recommend Ovando for your special event. read more

Phenomenal. My boyfriend more than surprised me by having an arrangement from Ovando delivered to my job. The first thing I noticed: this is no ordinary flower arrangement. Wavy, spring green willow branches filled a very tall and narrow rectangular glass column. Four perfect ladyslipper orchids floated on top. The second thing I noticed: the weight of the arrangement. The vase was thick and heavy, not the cheap throwaway vases used by most floral shops. I have never seen anything this beautiful in my life. It puts all other floral arrangements to shame. Needless to say, I have received gasps, stares, amazed looks, and every type of compliment about the exotic, architectural arrangement on my desk. More a living sculpture than a mere floral arrangement, Ovando's philosophy is "transformative floral design," where she lets the sophistication and beauty of the plants shine. The store and its products have been featured in many home design and decor magazines, and Ovando supplies hotels, restaurants, spas, and other tony NY establishments with these striking creations. However, the prices are not for the meek of wallet: most listed on the website start at $100. read more

Despite reading the string of negative reviews for the other location (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ovando-new-york), I still decided to take a chance and order from Ovando for my girlfriend's birthday. Shame on me. 1. I called to make sure the flowers would arrive before 6PM. The flowers arrived 5 minutes before 7PM. C'mon this was not a same day order and you had the ENTIRE DAY to deliver! This was enough to get me seething when we left to go out at 630PM and my girlfriend still didn't receive the surprise I planned for her special day. 2. I typed my card text correctly on the website and even called in when it looked messed up in the confirmation email. I was assured by someone that it would be fixed. Once again, come on, is anyone even paying attention to these?! I appreciate the handwritten touch, but some excerpts: "Happy birth" (I had explicitly told them birthday!) and "Let's make other." Full stop. Period. (It was supposed to be a complete sentence.) In sum, I'm disappointed by the poor customer service and sloppiness. Shame on me for taking the risk, this is the first and last time I'll be using Ovando. read more

I don't know why I keep on giving them another shot... Third year in a row and yet another issue.. For Valentines Day, this year... by 3:30 at a business address where cut off is at 5:00 flowers had not been delivered... Last year, flowers were NOT delivered as pictured... The heart shaped flowers arrived wilted and NOT as pictured. I am NOT SURE how people are still ordering from Ovando and how they claim to be a top florist... I have forbade my husband or anyone I know to ever order from them again... read more

I am a Marine... just putting that out there because we generally do not express ourselves with flowers, or words... or any form of emotion. Strong silent types... that's us. I am sitting in California and I find out that some classmates are doing a two-person show (really a one-person show and the other friend is playing the piano as an accompanist) in just a day or two... I promise that I am going to have something there to congratulate them... and then I, of course, space out for a day or two... Now it is approximately 5 hours before the event... and I am scrambling... can't let them down... called like 5 places... and got the "we don't do that", "we don't have anything like that", "we are all out" and my favorite "I've heard this company can do that for you... but you'll have to find them yourself online. CLICK." So, I get the run around for about an hour and a half... and then I get in touch with Frank from Ovando NY... and suddenly the dark clouds parted and I knew I was in good hands. Friendly, proactive, communicative... yep... all of the above. Jumped on the mission with the same attention to detail, enthusiasm and care that I expect from only my fellow Marines. I could go into detail.. like how I just told him what colors that I wanted... and he created an award winning bouquet... or that I had a short note that I wrote that he was able to get incorporated into the bouquet flawlessly.... or that within two hours, the two had already posted pictures of themselves with the bouquet on Facebook with a huge gushing thank you note for the lovely bouquet and note.... but all of those details are just an average day in the life of this phenomenal florist... I can't tell you how much I appreciated his flawless efforts and the experience that he was responsible for crafting from thousands of miles away... it means the world to me to know that I have someone I that I have never met that does beautiful work that makes that much of a difference to the people I wanted to share esteem with. This is the florist you want in your corner. This is the shop that turns ordinary days into memorable occasions. Bravo Frank!!! You are my hero! read more

We have had Ovando's exquisite floral arrangements at a wedding reception at The Central Park Boathouse, and also at our annual Christmas party at home. They exceeded any and all expectations, and brought a real sense of style to both events; I cannot recommend them more highly. It was also a huge pleasure to work with their staff. Although their gifted designers can do absolutely anything, Nicky understood immediately that we wanted a clean, understated look in both venues and that is exactly what we got. I hope to be a familiar face! Mary read more

Hands down, the best flower shop in NYC!! My husband surprised me and bought me the most beautiful Calla Lily flower arrangement I have ever seen. My wife works in the catering business and at times the client had retained Ovando for the floral arrangements. She has always been extremely impressed with their creativity and design, quality of construction, and friendly demeanor. On Thursday she received an email announcing that Ovando has a limited edition Dia De Los Muertos terrarium available. Knowing I love live plants and flowers in the apartment, she sent it to me and I fell in love. I quickly called and ordered the terrarium to be delivered the next day and it arrived last night. There is no need to rave over the terrarium because the photos I attach will be far more impactful than what I can describe. Needless to say it is awesome and the calavera is ridiculously cool. In honor of Dia De Los Muertos, may we all remember those who have gone before us. Thank you Ovando. I am already looking forward to having this terrarium refreshed on a seasonal basis...next up Winter Wonderland! read more

Trendy flower shop in the West Village with stunning, modern, and dramatic flowers. This is definitely not your grandmother's 1-800-Flowers shop. It's a boutique with an eye for minimalist, colorful, and inventive arrangements. Only complaint I have is that I went in on a Sunday morning and the flowers were droopy. I had a housewarming to go to and by the time I arrived with the flowers in the afternoon they were looking a little sad. For the price, I should have gotten super fresh and vibrant flowers. read more

I worked with Monique from Ovando and she was so accommodating. I love her attitude. She was relaxed while getting things done at the same time. They were very accommodating with all my emails. We used Ovando for all the flowers in our wedding. Their work is so beautiful and modern. Everyone was amazed at how creative and gorgeous the arrangements were. The staff is very helpful and will go out of their way to make sure you have the best looking flowers. The morning of the wedding they called to let me know the flowers for the ceremony arrangments weren't looking up to par. They explained the alternate options and colors and we made the quick decision to change them. They were so gorgeous, better than I could imagine. I was really impressed that they would call and be so honest with us, and really wanted the best for the wedding. read more

I came yesterday on the busiest day of the year! Despite the woman in front saying that there were no more arrangements left, a kind short haired female took me to the plant section, really made the plant visually beautiful by wrapping it in a white box, with bow and clear plastic. The perfect valentine gift for my mom. I would definitely come again because the service was great and the flowers are full of life here! Thanks Ovando. read more

So let me get this out of the way, I have nothing negative to say about the flower arrangements. They are always beautiful, that is if you are lucky enough to get them, because they are overpriced and you don't want to by them for yourself. I have bought flowers from Ovando for valentines day probably 5 times, of which my wife actually only received the flowers three times. Why is that? Because this place is run like a disorganized mess at best. Three years ago the flowers never arrived even though I followed up with them numerous times during the day. My wife was disappointed to say the least, but I forgave them and actually was stupid enough to use them again this year. Guess what the flowers didn't show up again. This time I also called and followed up numerous times, and I actually thought I had it under control. First they told me that the flowers would be at my wife's office within the hour that was at 2:00 pm, then after speaking to them three times, they told me at 5 o'clock they would send the flowers to my house. When I got home at 8 o'clock guess what no flowers, and disappointed wife. When I called them, they apologized and told me that they would cancel the order. Thanks that's great customer service, here is a hint maybe offer a discount on the flowers and still send them to the customer, that is one way to keep your customers from walking away for good. I assume the flowers are being dumped in the garbage anyway. Well its too late to lecture them on how to run a business, maybe they can buy a book to help them with that. I think the how to run a business for dummies would work best. Bottom line I am never using Ovando again. read more

Bad customer service. I ordered 3 arrangements that I can only believe were delivered. However, when I tried to get a receipt for my purchase, I was "disconnected" more than once, left an unanswered message, and received a general attitude of unwillingness to help. I do not recommend using them solely from this standpoint. read more

I rented Ovando's beautiful space for a party to celebrate the birth of my daughter. We had 60 people for a cocktail style event, and it was the absolute PERFECT space. The floral arrangements and interior design are gorgeous and set an elegant tone for an intimate party. All our guests commented on how beautiful it was. Working with Nikki was an absolute pleasure - she could not have been more accommodating in the days leading up to the event and especially on the day of the event. Cannot recommend renting the space highly enough. read more

We used Ovando for our personal flowers because they were recommended by our reception venue. I thought they were way overpriced, but understand flowers are expensive in the city. We arranged to have the flowers delivered to our hotel, but the florist dropped them off in the lobby without calling our cell phone and without a name on them. Fortunately, the hotel staff knew we were getting married and called to see if they were ours! I had ordered a small bouquet/tussy mussy for one of the mothers, but when delivered it was a big as the bridal bouquet! My friend had to cut it down and remake it so it wouldn't look odd. Unless you want your friends to be remaking your flowers on your wedding day (that is, assuming you actually get them) I wouldn't use Ovando! read more

Ovando is the best florist in the states, hands down. Every time I send flowers from Ovando, the recipient is absolutely floored by the beautiful, creative arrangements as well as the stunning delivery presentation, and hooked for life. If you are looking to impress a wife/girlfriend, client or important person, Ovando will surely do the trick. Even myself, a customer of over six years, am consistently impressed by the beauty of the arrangements which I receive and send. Not to mention that, in all this time, there was only one, small "snafu" for which the company literally bent over backwards and went above and beyond my wildest expectations in rectifying the situation. This type of customer appreciation is rare these days and only increased my estimation of Ovando. read more

Drop-dead gorgeous, bright, fresh flowers. I was lucky enough to score a Groupon to Ovando and cashed it in for a beautiiful orchid plant (that I'm justifiably scared I will kill) and a $20 bouquet filled with fragrant hot pink and purple flowers. I can't speak to the prices or customer service, but we've received two arrangements from Ovando at my office and both were very nice. My boyfriend surprised me with a delivery of a gorgeous orchid duo arrangement to my office. The arrangement was beautiful - so unique and gorgeous as they bloomed. However, they didn't give me the correct care instructions for the orchid. The instructions were for regular flowers. This was not super problematic as I called and someone emailed me instructions right away. However, the orchid died after its month of blooming and the leaves died, too. I'm not really sure what happened, but for the leaves to completely die is a little unusual. I stopped by in person for some advice (I live nearby) and the salesperson couldn't provide any further care instruction. I don't think it will rebloom but I'll hold out hope. Very pretty, anyway! read more

Not sure where the negativity comes from with the other reviews. The shop has consistently blown me away with their designs and their customer service. Not only are they on point, but they are sooo helpful. Originally I was supposed to pick up the flowers I ordered for a friend's birthday from the Madison location, but when work ran late and they saw I was running behind, they promptly delivered the arrangement for me at 6:00pm at night after they were closing! Always helpful and always nice, the prices are a bit steep but it's well worth it for this service. I adore Setsuko (the senior designer at Madison). She always makes the most gorgeous pieces.
