My sister lives in Commack and I have driven past this diner for the last 13 years and never went in , and the last few months I have been here multiple times for breakfast. Wow ... what a great place . The meals are massive , the staff is so friendly, the seating is more then comfortable and the food is definitely great . My husband and I went last night for dinner. He ordered a burger which was almost raw when he bit into it. Waiter offered to get him a new burger. He comes back with the same burger recooked with my husband's bite marks in it. We were horrified. That is poor food handling and made me wonder what other bad food handling practices they do. First, why is 90 percent of the main menu sandwiches or some combination of meat sandwiches between bread? The menu needs some work there. I ordered a very simple cheeseburger and fries. I asked that the cheeseburger be cooked medium well. The middle of the burger was almost raw. I had to cut around the raw burger to actually eat it. If I weren't in a rush I would have complained. As they say location, location, location, and this diners location and good fresh meal offerings surely supports the reason for its crowds on a Monday. I have been to this diner offer for lunch after playing an early round of Golf when returning to home base. Most of the time we had ordered sandwiches soup or something other than salad. This was the first time I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. When the salad arrived, I realized that we should have just ordered one salad and split it for lunch. The salad portion was quite large, but understandably for twenty-five dollars one would expect a heaping portion. The diner was very good with lots of parking outside. It was very pleasant inside and the people there were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The only question I have for this place was the prices. The food was fine but the prices were very high. I had a Reuben sandwich and a diet soda and paid $27 for it which is like Manhattan prices. I looked at some of the other prices on the menu and I was astounded that they were charging $32 for chicken Cordon Bleu. However, I don't know what else is around there so I guess if you're hungry and you want a good meal and you don't mind paying those prices than it's a good place to go. read more
