Visiting family for the weekend but staying at a rental, we decided to grab breakfast out. The Dix Hill Diner I have visited a few times when connecting with a close friend when in town. Grew up on LI I enjoyed many a meal at diners, they can't be beat. Plenty of parking and is easily accessible from Deer park Ave and 25. The decor is as it should be with counter seating and chrome and mirrors. I think I even spotted a jukebox (?). Lots of decadent desserts on display in the revolving case, classic! Today I am here with my husband. Greeted as soon as we came through the doors, seated at the last booth available in this Saturday morning. Waitress came right over and took our beverage order and promptly returned. Once past the sticker shock (breakfast at home diner is similar but less expensive). He had two eggs with corned beef hash and I opted for two sides since no hot cereal was available. Canadian bacon and hash browns. One cup of coffee each and some water to drink we waited maybe 10 minutes and the food was hot and on the table. Eggs cooked perfectly and more than enough with the toast. My hash browns took up 80% of the plate and the Canadian bacon took up the other 20%! Yum! Lefts overs came home with us for our sleepy son. Damages were $40 in case you were wondering :) No doubt I will be back and most likely in August when I return. Great job, see you in August!

I love the food here every time I visit. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I love the food. For a diner they go above and beyond to make really good staples and interesting special dishes. The service is always done with a smile and the ambiance is busy and a little hectic but never a negative. I went on a Saturday this time and had to wait 10 minutes to sit, but they still saw to our table relatively quickly. Everything was delicious as usual and their iced latte was honestly the star of my experience.

There were toddlers and preschoolers in the restaurant with their families, so I asked the waitress to please change the channel. She looked at me like I was crazy and told me that she didn't understand what my problem was. I explained that there were graphic photos of people and crime scenes that aren't suitable for children, or really anyone else trying to enjoy their meal. That issue non-withstanding, I still don't think Over Easy is worth choosing over Hatch or Munday's. The wait for us was 20 minutes, which is the same for pretty much every other place in Huntington. It's also very small, so as a result the tables are extremely close together. We were seated in the middle of the floor, with waitstaff passing through very frequently on both sides. We had to constantly tuck ourselves in and watch our backs to avoid getting an elbow in the face. Our food tasted alright, but there were several issues. We both got variations of eggs benedict. I got the avocado BLT benedict, with avocado, tomato, arugula, bacon, and hollandaise on top of ciabatta. It tastes good, and I especially liked how orange and healthy the poached egg yolk was. However the ciabatta was pretty badly burnt. My boyfriend got the "classic" eggs benedict, which was served over toasted sourdough bread. This bread was ridiculous, over an inch thick and impossible to cut through without shaking the table and making a crummy mess. I would've thought the classic eggs benedict would be eggs with Canadian bacon over an English muffin; this one was just not the best.

They have indoor and outdoor seatings. We got seated fairly quickly. They had a nice spread for brunch, breakfast and lunch during the time we went. We all had mimosas. They do not do unlimited mimosas which was the only downfall. The eggs Benedict was amazing, I got it with sausage. The side of hash browns were really good as well. My friends got the steak and eggs which he really enjoyed. And my other friend got a breakfast sandwich she really enjoyed. We were all pleased with everything. I tried the espresso martini - and it was excellent and decadent. We started with some fried pickles for the table, which were delicious. I think had the short rib eggs benedict which I couldn't finish because there were so many hidden potatoes on the plate - it was definitely a filling and satisfying meal. Someone in our party was also gluten-free and they were easily able to order without having to customize too much! We were a group of five, but were sat at a square table clearly meant for a four-top, so it was a bit tight. But other than that, service was good.

The hostess was super friendly but our server was a bit brisk -- he didn't make eye contact when speaking with us and spoke quickly like he was in a rush. Our server did warn us that entrees would take 45 minutes, I was surprised but glad he warned us so we could make sure we got appetizers to help with the wait. We ended up ordering: - Tomato & Onion Salad (5/5) I was skeptical but this ended up being so tasty. - Filet Mignon (3/5) This was small and didn't taste that good in my opinion. The steak sauce was delicious though. - Lobster Roll (5/5) Great portion size. Comes with delicious fries and a good amount of lobster. - Whipped Potatoes (5/5) At first the texture threw me off, but these were sooo good and creamy. - Slice of raspberry pie from Briermere Farms (4/5) Good way to wrap up the meal but I wish it came with a scoop of ice cream.

First and…read moreforemost, the octopus is a miss, which is so unfortunate because whenever I go out to eat and see octopus on the menu I'm ordering it. Their octopus is fatty, tough and hard to eat and although the flavors and pairings are wonderful, the star of the dish falls flat and for $46 it's a shame. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside, it's romantic, decorated with intention, the bathroom is the coolest bathroom I've ever seen in a restaurant. It's a perfect date night spot, perfect for celebrating a birthday or special event, the potential is there. I've eaten the burrata with prosciutto and pineapple and it's one of their best dishes. The beet salad and tomato salad are delicious. The tomatoes they use are so fresh, they serve it with a massive hunk of mozzarella cheese, both so yummy. Their pasta dishes are good, they are a bit simple for me but good. Their brussels sprouts were served and I was suprised to see they were not roasted. I'm used to ordering crispy brussels sprouts but you're not getting that here. They looked steamed and originally I was disappointed but they were amazing, so much garlic, so much flavor, I was happily surprised with this side. For dessert, their options are endless, it was seriously hard to choose something but for my birthday last weekend we went with the pistachio cheese cake and it was out of this world. They served it with a huge candle, it was special. Unfortunately, the meatball special that I ordered for my main dish was not good. Couldn't cut into the meatball and the flavor was not right. Our reservation was late, for 8:30 and we finished eating around 10:20 We were the last people in the restaurant and felt a bit rushed. My sister had ordered a cappuccino and you could tell they wanted us out, which was a bit of a bummer. This wasn't my first time here, had it been I may have written a different review but my past experiences were better and the service was mostly phenomenal despite like I said, hiccups. The place is expensive, it's definitely an experience. If they could fix their octopus dish I would make this a regular spot. I so appreciated they had a mocktail menu. I ordered a non-alcoholic cucumber drink and it was delicious. Will definitely be back.
