I used to go to this Diner every now and again because it's close to my office. I met a friend from out of state there a couple days ago. She was late meeting me there and the owner kept coming outside to see what I was doing in my car until I told her I was waiting for a friend to join me for breakfast. Once she arrived we had an egg white omlette each. I had a cup of coffee and she had water. The bill came and it was $50. I was very surprised! Ive never paid $50 at any diner for the same breakfast fir two... and it was only 1 cup of coffee. I asked if there was a mistake and she said "no". Even though it's nice service and convenient... I think I will stick with the Califirnia Diner from this point in. read more

There are specials that I look forward to and wait for. Generally the soups are too salty to finish. I think all the food is salted when being cooked. The service is very nice but I things I am not charged for in other dinners, I am charged for in this diner. The meals on a chalkboard seem high priced. Look up "small local diner" in the dictionary and you will find a picture of this place. Counter service and booth seating available. Had an old school vibe. Ample parking on site, free wifi available. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the one waitress on staff (like I said, the place is small. Also, it was a weekday). There was one other table of diners. The waitress told me I could sit wherever I would so I sat myself. This place is definitely not fancy. As I was seating myself, she asked if I would like coffee and I replied in the affirmative. The waitress swiftly brought me a cup of piping hot fresh coffee, along with a menu. My order of a short stack with sausage was very good. Standard diner fair. Pancakes were yummy and dusted with powdered sugar, and the sausage was the thick links that I enjoy. Both cooked perfectly. The meal was accompanied by prepackaged Smuckers pancake syrup and some butter on a plate. The syrup was "ok". I'm kind of a fan of maple syrup myself, but if you like regular pancake syrup this will be fine. My coffee was refilled promptly and when I was finished and asked for a check, it arrived on my table quickly. A little on the pricey side, over $15.50 for a short stack with sausage and coffee. I don't get out much for breakfast lately, but I felt that was a bit high for this type of establishment. Maybe I'm just behind the times.... That being said, the service was very good and the food was very good as well. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend. Just don't go in with a party over 4, 5 people the most. This is a tough review to write because I enjoyed my meal and loved the ambiance. However, I cannot figure out how I was charged over $37 for a cup of soup, a tuna melt, an iced tea, and rice pudding. I have no idea what I was charged for the soup or sandwich bc the prices weren't listed. I'm not one to complain, so I paid and left. I'd return, but cannot justify that amount of money for something I can prepare at home. Oh my goodness, I'm editing this review to mention that when I finally tried the rice pudding, the rice was not properly cooked! It was hard and very chewy so I had to throw it out. I had originally given three stars; now I'm giving just two stars for this terrible (and extremely overpriced) experience. Stay away! read more

Small town diner. Blue Point diner is one of those places you could drive by and never see- it just has a small profile and is tucked back from the road a bit. The place is larger than it looks and we were seated quickly. The decor is something from back on the day with loads of old photos (mostly of hollywood types that have never been there) adorning the place. Booths were cozy and the place is well lit. WE hit it for breakfast generally and they make a decent omelette and the coffee is hot and quick to be refilled- my kind of place. This is not one of those big diners that has pages and pages of menu items. It's a small place but we always manage to get a booth. Single people often sit on one of the counter stools. There are always specials, with a lunch special which includes soup, and an early bird special too. Prices are reasonable; it is a diner after all. What I love about this place is the food. I always order a soup. Their soups are the best I've had anywhere. A cup comes in a bowl, so there is plenty enough to have on it's own. Today, I had the Navy Bean soup since it's something I wouldn't make myself. It was absolutely delicious! I often get the lentil soup which is always good. Their soups are never too salty with chunks of celery, carrots and other vegetables. When you order two eggs for breakfast, they usually give you three. I've tried to tell them I won't eat three, but I'm told that I can just leave it if I want. Their homefries are simple and perfectly cooked. Never over-spiced and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Perfect!. Their other menu items are typical of what you find in a diner: open-faced turkey, club sandwiches, burgers, Greek salads with grilled chicken. You get the idea. Would I go back? Of course! Tried them for breakfast and was badly disappointed. Simple bacon and eggs order, hard to screw up, right? Wrong. Home fries were cold with under cooked pieces of potato that felt almost raw. Bacon was overcooked and ridiculously crispy-one bite and you were wearing the rest of the piece! I asked for the eggs to be cooked over light, and got over well.Toast was drenched in so much butter that it had a sponge-like consistency. And to add insult to injury, check came to $15.70! Was driving to another place when we passed this hole in the wall diner. Made a quick u-turn, and boy were we happy with the results. Upon first appearances this place needs a full makeover. But with all that said, when breakfast came out piping hot with made to order eggs over easy (and you get 3!), crunchy French fries, snap crackle pop delicious sausages (2), and butter dripping well done sandwich size toasted English muffin, you got my attention & my table mates! Walk in the door and walk back in time. This historical (to me) diner in the heart of a little town called Blue Point brings back nostalgic feelings of less stressful, easier times. Solid local diner. Locals and regulars are always here. I've enjoyed everything I have tried. We usually stop here for breakfast when we are in town. Their blueberry pancakes are deeeeelish. I wish they had maple syrup to do them justice, but as its a diner it's not uncommon to have the containers of syrup. Can't go having crazy expectations while also looking for diner fare. Their challah French toast is also pretty awesome. The boss man usually gets an omelette to make me look unhealthy. I'm ok with that. Their omelette and potatoes always look to be cooked perfectly- and there are never any left so they must taste good too.
