Good find for a weekday brunch. Such a cute vibe from the outside and inside. It's definitely living up to the farmhouse, rustic theme. We sat at the large family style table and it was wonderful. There was a good crowd for a Thursday morning, I can imagine it gets fairly crowded during the weekends. They had a good selection of specials and the menu has something for everyone. I tried the special cookie butter latte. It packed a good cookie butter flavor, even rimmed with cookie butter. For food, I got the egg in a hole, which came with 2 sides. All of it was tasty and also had a nice presentation. The pancakes and French toast looked to be delicious as well. The prices are really reasonable. Most, if not all, dishes came with a side. Poor service from start to finish. As soon as we arrived, the hostess had not communicated properly which led to us waiting longer than expected. Our server, Fabian, was inattentive the entire meal. He also repeatedly leaned over us while taking orders instead of standing beside it, even though there was plenty of room to do so. It was uncomfortable and unnecessary. The other servers around us were much more helpful and checked on us more than he did. My mom ordered boiled eggs because the menu says "eggs any way you want them," but was told they couldn't make them, so she settled for scrambled eggs and toast. Everyone else's food came out while she waited another 10 minutes for the toast, so she couldn't eat with the rest of us. Fabian never apologized for the delay and did not check in. I spoke with the manager expecting him to make it right, but all he said was, "Sorry, to hear that. I'll talk to the server." We were still charged for the toast. As a long time restaurant employee/ manager myself, I would have handled things very differently. Definitely won't be back. read more

Visited here for a family brunch - cute place and lively, packed atmosphere on a Sunday. The Gump Benedict was delicious. Iced coffee was OK - and others seemed to enjoy the Bloody Mary. Great family spot! Visited Buttermilk's Pancake House on March 20th with my kids and nephews and we had a great experience. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and the kids loved the menu. Josiah had the PB&J with fruit, Aaliyah had grilled cheese with fries (9/10), Maddox and Henry both gave their meals a 10/10, and Brooks enjoyed his short stack though it was a bit dry. We also ordered extra fries for the table and everyone enjoyed them. My French toast was delicious -- so good my son ate half and rated it a 10/10. Came to this establishment while I was attending a family wake service. Very nice and clean place. Great service as well. I had the Hercules Omlette. The omelette was very fresh and fluffy and long with the vegetables and the feta cheese that was in it. The hash browns were very delicious as well and had a unique taste to it. I think they might have added some seasoning to it like old bay. The wheat toast was on point as well. The orange juice very fresh for it was freshly squeezed. Loved it. That's a problem. Hash browns were soggy mush instead of crispy. Coffee was actually solid though, so there's that. I had the egg in the hole, my wife got the Florentine omelet. She had stomach issues afterward, which didn't help my opinion. Service 5/5 No complaints here at all. Staff was friendly and on top of things the whole time. Never had to flag anyone down for a coffee refill. Ambiance 5/5 The place looks great. Cozy farmhouse feel, nice decor. Gets packed fast during breakfast and brunch hours though, so show up early or be ready to wait. Cleanliness 5/5 Everything's still new and it shows. Dining area was spotless, bathroom was clean, and yeah, I ran a finger along a couple of surfaces when nobody was looking. Passed. Parking 3/5 There's a lot behind the building with a back entrance, which is nice when you can grab a spot. When it's busy you're circling for street parking or paying for a lot nearby. Value 3/5 About $50 for two with tip. That's fine for the portions and the setting. But when the food itself is hit or miss, you start questioning what you're paying for. There's a bit of option anxiety with the menu that it took a while for us to order, wanting everything. Ordered pancakes with blueberries and walnuts, side sausage. One of the best pancakes I've had. Also ordered pulled pork grilled cheese, honestly expecting a cheese melt. But this was a full on pulled pork sandwich. Maybe something we should've asked about. Can't say for the other grilled cheese sandwiches if they are like this. Also not sure if we're disappointed or pleasantly surprised as we were craving a grilled cheese. Such a great place for brunch! Where do I begin?! Pros: text message system when your table is ready, super easy and you can walk around the area in the meantime. non pork breakfast meat options- turkey bacon which is a huge win for me! Generous portions, my hubby and I shared the apple pie pancakes and southwest burrito and we still brought home a doggy bag! No cons, really just a long wait if you go prime brunch time. I love Buttermilk's food so much that I actually crave their gluten-free chocolate chip pancakes! Their scrambled eggs and bacon on the side are also delicious. During the autumn they offered a butternut squash soup with candied bacon on top, it was very tasty. Same for their freshly squeezed orange juice. Friendly staff, delicious food, and the theme of the restaurant reminds me of Country Kitchen. Comfortable place to sit and eat, plus it's clean as well. Two complaints though; prices and waiting times. This place tends to get crowded, so either come when they first open, or later during the day to avoid waiting up to 2 hours for food. Pricing-it's alright, considering it's Patchogue. But, they have a ridiculous $4 upcharge just to make your food gluten free. They also upcharge you $2 for egg whites, so you're paying more money for less food. That aside, still a great place to eat! read more

The good thing is there's so much to do on Main Street you can find something to do for a bit if you need to. The food is generally good. Four star food, two star service! The good: food is consistently delicious. Buttermilks does not try to reinvent the wheel (aka breakfast) like so many other local spots, and instead provides classic breakfast favorites like eggs benny, corned beef hash, stuffed omelets and fluffy pancakes; that all taste exactly like you hope they would, every time. The menu is extensive, with both breakfast and lunch options, but breakfast is the way to go. There's an additional rotating specials menu with seasonal options, including drinks. They actually do rotate these regularly, which is more than you can say for other brunch places. In addition to the ones on the menu selection, you can create your own three-egg omelette. They're packed with ingredients and do not disappoint. Instead of toast on the side, opt for a warm buttermilk biscuit and you won't be sorry. The pancakes are super sweet, and many of the flavor options are more like dessert than breakfast, but great for a special treat for the kids. Sides are reasonably priced and cover all the breakfast bases with sausage links (the thick kind), bacon (ask for it well done), hash and homefries. Buttermilks does not have a full liquor license and gets by just fine with sake bloody Marys (try one, it's fantastic!), and mimosas. Once you try a sake Bloody Mary with an everything bagel seasoning rim, you'll never miss the vodka. The place itself is decorated with a casual, farm vibe - and it's just so perfect for brunch. The not so good: service needs work. They don't take reservations and desperately need to start using the waitlist feature like so many other brunch spots on Main. There's often a long wait and the interior space isn't conducive for through traffic. The gentleman manning the host stand on weekends is a bit lacking in people skills, and you're encouraged to "wait in your car" in chilly or rainy weather. Sometimes the counter is first come, first served, and sometimes it's not; but you never know when they're taking names for those seats until you're scolded for trying to take one. Servers are friendly but overwhelmed and expeditious, and requests for things like meat temperature and beverage refills are often overlooked. Go for the delicious food, not the mediocre service. Expect to wait and consider taking a short walk to Record Stop around the corner to peruse the selection while you wait instead of cramming in to the vestibule like cattle. Had such a wonderful breakfast this morning. I've been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while, and after taking one bite from our hotel's breakfast options, my husband and I took one look at each other and said, "NOPE, let's go out to eat", and so we did. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the warmest welcome from the host, as she brought us to our table. The ambiance was great. Everything was clean, a cute floral arrangement on the table, and the overall look was cozy & comfortable. Our waitress had such a pleasant demeanor as she provided us with lots of suggestions and was very attentive throughout our visit. The food came out quickly, and I also loved that the chef came out from the kitchen and presented each table with their meals, which was a nice touch. It truly showed how much she cared and her confidence in the food. She was kindhearted and let us know if we needed anything, just to ask. What was uncommon for me was that the level of hospitality from the hostess to the wait staff to the chef was set high, which is rare. Consistent across the board. So bravo to all of the workers. The food was flavorful, hot, and fresh! My husband enjoyed The Flamethrower, and I enjoyed The Gump Benedict with a side of Cheese Grits. Everything was well-seasoned, and the portion size was generous, so we had leftovers. Their Raspberry and Blueberry Lemonade was perfect, not too sweet and not too tart. Exactly how we like it. I have been here twice for brunch now. It's a decent brunch place. I would not say this is my favorite, but they carry themselves okay in my book. I tried the Samoas pancakes,and it was an interesting dish for sure. Samoas cookies used to be a favorite growing up, so naturally I had to try this. It's tough to find large group brunch spots on the weekend, but this was clutch coming in for my grandfathers birthday of 13 people. The accommodation was very much so appreciated and while it's tight and stretched, I'd say the small spot handled us pretty darn well. My cousin brought me and my boyfriend here speaking very highly about it. We were seating fairly fast and only waited about 10 minutes for our food to come out! My cousins got the cupcake pancakes and the buttermilk pancakes with a plethora of sides. Which they all loved. My boyfriend got the Nutella pancakes which he absolutely devoured! I have a gluten and dairy allergy and they assured me that they cooked everything in soy oil and that they would make note of my allergies. It took me a while to make this review but by the time I am completing thie review I have now been here 5 times. As you can tell I absolutely love this place. I have included many pics in my review but I just want to say they are always a good place for food. The food is always good, you get seated in under 30 minutes if they are busy and the staff is always amazing. The last time I was there it only took 11 minutes for my food to get here. Additionally, the drinks is just as amazing as the food. The restaurant is family and group friendly and can be loud due to socializing, but I do not mind at all. I will continue to come here as long as they stay open and continue serving great food. read more

Met friends for breakfast at Buttermilks. Restaurant does not take reservations so we had a 25 minute wait considering it was a Sunday morning. That said it was well worth the wait. Our waitress Izzy was outstanding. Izzy warmly greeted us and allowed time to review menus ( despite the restaurant being completely full). She was extremely customer service oriented and very attentive. Food servers were polite and professional as well. Ordered the apple and blueberry pancakes were outstanding and I highly recommend. Friends ordered the chicken and waffles with a side order of corned beef hash which were another great dish. Dishes were plentiful for the price and there are food containers available to bring home what you don't finish. Restaurant has both table and counter service. The lobby is small only sits 4-6 folks so be prepared to wait outside for a table. Overall great food and service at reasonable prices and well worth the wait. read more
