Coffee was hot and they offer free refills. Food portions are average and reasonably priced. Be prepared to wait as there is limited seating either ( both bar and table) and this place does get crowded quickly. Ambiance is not fancy but gives off that plain small town feeling. Let's make one thing clear. This is a hole in the wall. But this hole in the wall knows how to make great food! My mom and I decided to try out some place new for lunch this week and through my internet digging I came across the BLT Cafe. After reading some reviews online I had high expectations and they were definitely met! I got a BLT wrap with fries and my mom got some wrap that involved veggies and turkey with mac salad. Both of us were very happy with our choices. The food came out quick and was so delicious! Great service too. My favorite part was that the fries seemed twice fried. They were so crispy and amazing. A cafe straight out of the Midwest and from days gone by. There's nothing fancy about this place and that is part of what makes it so wonderful. It's no-frills, good and honest food. The service is usually by one or two women in a very small space, and I t's often filled with regulars. We came across this place on yelp and reviews were positive. It is a very small place, which we welcome as it has a nice family owned feel. I got the patty melt sandwich which they included an egg inside. I asked for medium and it was cooked to perfection. It came with a side of fries. What a cute little place. It seems that everyone knows everyone here. Lots of regulars seem to frequent here. There's a few tables and a counter. Lots of take orders were being made this morning. My boyfriend and I enjoyed breakfast here on a Sunday morning. I went with an egg platter with home fries, toast and kielbasa. Everything was delicious. The kielbasa was a little salty, but still yummy. The home fries were nice and crispy and full of flavor. My boyfriend went with the roasted pepper, sausage and mozzarella omelette. It was huge and delicious. It came with toast or a bagel. He went with an egg everything bagel. The bagel was yummy. He also went with a chocolate milk. Another delicious lunch at BLT!!! I ordered the chicken cutlet with roasted peppers, greens, and mozzarella on multigrain bread....loved it! We also ordered a hamburger, which was equally as delicious! The servers are extremely friendly, and our experience there is always pleasurable. The outdoor seating is lovely, covered by a tent and surrounded by bushes, giving it a relaxing atmosphere. I love this spot. It's got an old-time diner style feel. It was interesting coming here because a lot of the customers a regulars and know the workers by name and vice versa and I thought that it was really cute. They have an outdoor seating area but that day was pretty cold so we went inside and it is quite right inside. It did feel very cramped inside but I mean at that point I could tell that they were trying to be as safe as possible but if you're going to be scared about going out to eat and want things to be very spaced out you might want to do takeout. We came here for breakfast and they have a large selection and the prices are fantastic and cheaper than I would expect for the portion sizes. We got an omelette which was a huge portion with turkey and onions and it was delicious. We also got the banana pancakes and let me tell you they were SO GOOD! They looked a lot like pancakes that my mom would make but super fluffy and they were huge with large chunks of bananas. Not sure how this place has an average rating of over 4 stars. But then again, maybe I should have read through the reviews first to order the most popular items, the Home fries and coffee. As I was waiting for my food to come, I was looking around kind of getting grossed out by where the fridges were set up. There's two bottled drink fridges by the door and in both fridges, there were food items NOT COVERED. I didn't get a chance to take a pic of the other fridge but it's Snapple drinks with a bunch of what appeared to be cooked whole potatoes. I also witnessed customers going in the fridge, so I'd hate to assume the worst... but you never know when you give the public convenient access to your food supply. I ended up ordering Sonny's "famous" BLT platter since it seems like they're named after it. After taking a few bites, I had to ask myself how this was "famous" because it tasted normal to me, nothing special. Moderate amount of bacon, regular white bread. The "platter" comes with fries and macaroni salad and pickle. The fries were steak fries which weren't anything special. I see some of the reviews people enjoy the mac salad but I wasn't a fan, there was no flavor. It was kinda dry, undercooked macaroni pasta with carrot slivers and a little mayo. And the service was not the greatest. After receiving my food, no one came back to check. And they were missing multiple items at the table next to me. The best homemade corned beef hash in the nation!! My Yelp BFF Marisa has been telling me I have to try this place and to trust her. Although I have only one check in here, my family and I have been coming to BLT for quite some time. Located right off of the Saint James station of the LIRR, this breakfast/lunch spot will be sure to impress.
