This place is incredible! It always has good atmosphere, is relatively chill, and the portion sizes? INCREDIBLE. I am gluten free and I get gluten free pancakes, which have never caused a reaction in a year of eating here. Their died and hot lattes are so good, and the flavor selection is colossal. I like coming with friends and family, and whenever they ask for a brunch or lunch spot, I tell them to come here. The servers are friendly and take allergies seriously. Here's the Scoop! Visited here today with my honey for breakfast. We haven't been here in about 4 yrs. We both had the old fashioned corn beef, scrambled eggs with toast. Well, they still have a large following. Quite busy. The service is cheerful and quick. However, the corn beef hash was not as tasty as I recall from prior visits. The recipe use to have home fried potatoes or a red potato now it has the stringy hash brown which changed the texture and taste. We were truly disappointed. Sometimes, it's just not worth it to change a recipe if it's not better than the original. I think we will come again and maybe try something else. Visiting from out of town. Let's be clear- this is a dirty restaurant serving very average food. Overall cleanliness was way below average, which is a red flag. For example, the large windows were extremely dirty, smeared with food, greasy hand prints, which gave the restaurant an overall dingy, neglected and gross appearance. If that's what the front of the house looks like, the kitchen probably looks worse. My guess is that this establishment relies on its young staff too much and there is not much owner oversight. read more

a classic diner with typical, extensive diner menu. it does get a little bit busy, but the wait shouldn't be crazy. service was a bit slow, but the servers were all very friendly. i ordered the burger basket and their pistachio dark chocolate latte (special menu for halloween). the burger was juicy at medium rare and the fries were crunchy and nicely salted. my friends burger was more well-done, but fortunately not overly dry. i'd skip the latte, it wasn't blended well and the flavors didn't go well together. overall, a cute, casual diner I'd come back to! read more

Second time here, first time for my husband. This place is small but very good. I love all the quotes on the wall. Service was good, only had a short wait. There are places to sit outside if you did have to wait and great area to walk around. It's very close to the water. For drinks, I had Yoda iced Latte - hazelnut, pistachio and raspberry (I think), very sweet. My husband had the raspberry ice tea as he doesn't drink coffee, lol. For breakfast he had the farmers market omelette and I had the chicken-apple sausage omelette. Both were excellent. My friends from high school and I have been enjoying Crazy Beans brunch for 5+ years. It's located in the center of Stony Brook village and is the absolute cutest. From its decor to furniture, it's such a reminiscent spot. The menu is innovative and the specials always include a festive treat. They perfect pancakes, eggs, and french toast. However, I recently discovered my new favorite dish- The Chicken Caesar Wrap! It's a whole wheat wrap filled with crispy chicken tenders that are fried to perfection and lettuce and dressing. While visiting Crazy Beans, ordering the signature lattes is a must. The lattes can include up to 3 flavors from a vast list of choices and can be made hot or iced. They are topped with a heaping portion of fresh whipped cream and decorated beautifully with colorful syrups. I love adding the dark chocolate flavor to my latte. The crab cake egg benedict was tasty but the other food was OK. Portion is smaller than usual diner. My suggestion is to up the service quality and they can start with refilling the water or coffee. Wow! Either this place is going down hill or I went on a severely off day! My husband and I went for breakfast here on Halloween. We decided to sit at the counter, the woman working had the personality of a wet blanket. So unfriendly, inattentive and her service was terrible. Never asked if we wanted more coffee, walked past us over and over like we weren't even sitting there. We were the only people sitting at the counter! The food was sub par. I had some kind of southwest omelet with biscuits, it was just ok. The home fries were just plain fried potatoes, no seasoning and unbelievably dry. My latte however was excellent. At the end the server flung the check our way from the side and walked away without saying a word, just reached over and dropped it. What a disappointment!! It's important not to compare things that aren't on the same playing field. I say this with a tongue-in-cheek mentality as my last review (for Druthers Coffee) might easily beat out Crazy Beans for sheer coffee quality and taste. But I don't want this to be a slam review of CB because they are still a pretty formidable breakfast spot in their own right. My fiancée and I learned this recently on a trip up to this Stony Brook C-Beans location. There are a few Crazy Beans spots, but this one is intriguingly found amongst the Stony Brook Village Center which might almost make you miss it. We'd seen it before, but this was our first time actually entering the cute yet tiny coffee/breakfast shop. They had several tables and a nice little countertop area, but in the return of Covid times, it didn't entirely seem like a "fun" thing to sit in with everyone. Plus honestly, we were only stopping to grab a drink and a bite as we had to head somewhere. Honestly honestly (yes that's double), we only entered Crazy Beans to pick up our order. That was one of the great things about this place: their online ordering system. You can fill out what you want right from your phone and it'll be there waiting for you when you arrive...well, that depends on the wait time. I'll say Crazy Beans was better than their site which quoted "49-59 minutes" for an order to be ready. When my order was finally placed, the updated text/email said only about 25 minutes which was much more reasonable (phew). Perhaps two full meals and a couple of coffees could've taken longer, but we only went with an egg, cheese, and sausage sandwich on a roll to split along with two iced lattes. The morning handheld was hot and had plenty of fluffy egg and gooey cheese on it. The sausage seemed like your standard patty, but the roll was solid and helped the sandwich come together nicely. As for the coffees, my fiancée got a combo of peanut butter and hazelnut flavors while I went with vanilla and peanut butter. Both were good, but I wouldn't write home about them (sorry, home). Flavors weren't as prominent as one might hope, but the coffee aspect was respectable. Overall, Crazy Beans is a decent breakfast spot, though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they might be more worthy when dining in/eating a full meal in which coffee might come second to food. With that in mind, perhaps Crazy Beans could beat out Druthers for eating in. We'll have to see next time I find myself in Stony Brook and want a bite to eat. For now, the coffee battle is won elsewhere. read more

Terrible salad. I ordered the candies nut salad to go at the Crazy Beans in Stony Brook and when I opened it, it looked like I got someone's left overs. It was such a small portion and not much on the salad and the dressing didn't taste good either. I have eaten there plenty of times but never got anything to go. This was a sad excuse for a salad. This restaurant is dirty. I wanted to walk out after we ordered. There's nothing I hate more than wasting money on food. We came for breakfast during the week and there was barely anyone there so I'm very confused as to why our food was so cold. There's nothing worse than cold eggs. We literally did not even want to drink the water they served us because the plastic cups were so disgusting. They did not look clean at all. There was also like a white hair stuck on the ketchup bottle and the vinyl seats of the booth that we sat in were filthy. Honestly this place is just not clean looking to me. Our food was cold.
