a classic diner with typical, extensive diner menu. it does get a little bit busy, but the wait shouldn't be crazy. service was a bit slow, but the servers were all very friendly. i ordered the burger basket and their pistachio dark chocolate latte (special menu for halloween). the burger was juicy at medium rare and the fries were crunchy and nicely salted. my friends burger was more well-done, but fortunately not overly dry. i'd skip the latte, it wasn't blended well and the flavors didn't go well together. overall, a cute, casual diner I'd come back to!

Second time here, first time for my husband. This place is small but very good. I love all the quotes on the wall. Service was good, only had a short wait. There are places to sit outside if you did have to wait and great area to walk around. It's very close to the water. For drinks, I had Yoda iced Latte - hazelnut, pistachio and raspberry (I think), very sweet. My husband had the raspberry ice tea as he doesn't drink coffee, lol. For breakfast he had the farmers market omelette and I had the chicken-apple sausage omelette. Both were excellent. I suggest to ask light on the cheese and onion though, unless you like a lot of that. Overall, great meal and I am sure to be back again.

Updating review with a new picture. Love that they change up the menu often and have a lot of specials. Lunch and breakfast are both great and the menu is pretty big. Retro decor, friendly service and cash only spot. Will continue to frequent this place!

This is one of my favorite spots for brunch in the area. Delicious, adorable, and with such kind staff! Despite being a bit small, they manage to fit everyone inside comfortably. I had the "smoke-out burrito" as a bowl with shrimp. The shrimp is a limited-time special but I wish it was permanent, they were great!

Excellent food, but the service could use some attention. Crazy Beans in Stony Brook serves up creative, flavorful dishes that make it easy to see why it's so popular. The menu is fun and unique, with generous portions and consistently delicious options for breakfast and lunch. That said, the service during our visit felt a bit off. Staff seemed to be on autopilot--very short when we asked questions, and we waited quite a while just to get water. It didn't feel unfriendly, just rushed and disengaged. Still, the food makes it worth the trip, and we'll definitely be back--just hoping for a little more warmth and attentiveness next time. PS - Ambiance is really cool, never seen anything like it!

The food and the environment was great. But not so much with the service. Our waitress kept on forgetting/made mistake on our order.

Very solid breakfast spot, their omelettes are especially good. Place has a cool vibe inside and plenty of options with a few unique ones. Definitely give the Cannoli French Toast a try.

A fun breakfast / lunch spot to catch up with friends! The service is wonderful and attentive, and the restaurant is buzzing especially on weekends! The menu offered a large variety of options that can accommodate all food preferences; we came during the fall and they had fun fall flavors like pumpkin pancakes. The drink menu is also quite vast, with alcoholic options if desired. The food was also delicious, and came with a large portion. Would recommend and come back again!

My friends from high school and I have been enjoying Crazy Beans brunch for 5+ years. It's located in the center of Stony Brook village and is the absolute cutest. From its decor to furniture, it's such a reminiscent spot. The menu is innovative and the specials always include a festive treat. They perfect pancakes, eggs, and french toast. However, I recently discovered my new favorite dish- The Chicken Caesar Wrap! It's a whole wheat wrap filled with crispy chicken tenders that are fried to perfection and lettuce and dressing. While visiting Crazy Beans, ordering the signature lattes is a must. The lattes can include up to 3 flavors from a vast list of choices and can be made hot or iced. They are topped with a heaping portion of fresh whipped cream and decorated beautifully with colorful syrups. I love adding the dark chocolate flavor to my latte. The restaurant gets busy and does not take reservations beforehand. However, it is worth the wait and the staff are friendly.

Crazy beans is one of my constants in life My friends and I have been coming here since we were little and it always hits!! The lattes are always a highlight, with a ton of fun flavors to choose from. The whipped cream is the best I've had from anywhere. Food portions are generous! My current fixation is the chicken caesar wrap - which sounds super random for a brunch place but is seriously a hidden gem. Just the perfect ratio of dressing, parmesan, and perfectly crispy chicken!!! The waiters are always very friendly. It gets very busy during brunch hours so be prepared to wait, or come early! You pay at the register, which is done by item, so eating here with groups is super convenient. They also only do cash tips as an FYI.

First time trying Crazy Beans! Glad I got up early before the lines got crazy. The place is cozy, looks like an old school diner. Love the food! Portions are great and the prices are very reasonable. I went with their special, lobster hash and eggs (over easy) and of course, sourdough toast. It was too good! Very flavorful! My husband got eggs your way (sunny side up). The waitress was super friendly. Tips: -You can pay by card, but tips are only allowed to be in cash. -Pay at the register when you're done eating.

Place was so unexpected meaning the ambiance and design was so funky fun! Enjoyable to eat here and spend time here reading the so many things on the wall. Nostalgia vibes for sure! The food and drinks were amazing and the people were great! Place was packed so make sure to rsvp beforehand!

They don't take reservations. After about 10 minutes my friend and I plus 3 teens (my kids and a friend) were starving and Schnitzels was loud and crowded. We headed a few doors down to Sweet Mama's. Seated immediately. My friend and I shared the steak with penne dinner special and a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. My daughter ordered penne with butter off the kids menu. My son got a turkey burger and his friend got a grilled chicken sandwich on a hero instead of a wrap. Now the good -- portions were huge! My son could barely fit his burger in his mouth and it also had a half avocado on it. They didn't skimp. Steak with penne was delicious and so was the Cobb salad. We all shared off each other's plates because everything looked so amazing. Now the bad. My daughter's pasta was elbows, not penne as indicated on the menu. Not a catastrophe but she was looking forward to penne. Then - my son's friend put some ketchup on his plate for his fries. It was ,.. not red but brown. The bottle had an 8/25 expiration. We are in April 2026. We told the server and she said it's because it's the "simply ketchup" with no artificial dyes. She offered him ketchup packets "with fake dyes" but by that point he lost his appetite for fries. We grabbed ketchup from another table, same brand, Heinz Simply. You can see the difference in color. We showed the server and she acted annoyed. I told her we didn't want anyone getting sick on that ketchup and pointed out the expiration date. She rolled her eyes and said "oh I'll just throw it away." She kind of had an attitude and didn't even apologize. So that's why 4 stars. We'd go back but request not to have that server. The food is fantastic but watch your ketchup! If someone put it on a burger it would have been ruined.

Not terrible, but also not memorable…read more Sweet Mama's is a hybrid concept tucked away in the adorable Stony Brook Village. On one end, ice cream. In the middle, restaurant, and towards the back, a bar. Surprisingly at 11am, for a table of four, we waited about 10 mins for a table. We ordered a variety of things, from soup, to bennys and a mimosa flight. The mimosa flight was very cute but mine ended up tasting just like white wine. The real disappointment imo was the Belgian Waffle. Now I know, part of this is my fault, for expecting more than what the description laid out. But for $12 I got one crispy and tender waffle with powdered sugar and that was it. No side of fruit, no home fries, nothing. Everyone else enjoyed their food, which I was happy about! And service was wonderful. But for $12 for one waffle, this place may be a biiiiiiit overpriced for my liking.

That describes the last time I was at Nappi's Nook, over two years ago. Flash forward to this morning and we're looking at an update that shows a much different experience this time around. You see that first time at Nappi's was not long after they had opened. Kinks were definitely still being worked out and at the time, I just couldn't see it as a place worth choosing over other breakfast spots. But seeing reviews, awards, and that the place was still standing years later led my wife and I to come check them out again. This second time around we snagged a table (they definitely get crowded quickly) and had some very friendly service from our waitress. Things started with their Nappicinos which were a huge misfire that first time, but a definite improvement today. My wife got the Biscoff variety while I got the Peanut butter cup and boy were they tasty. A good balance of coffee and sweet flavors. Now when it came to food, last time I went with chicken and waffles which (from pics) still seemed like something I might enjoy more elsewhere and so instead, I landed on The Stove Top Skillet. This was a combo of onions, peppers, potatoes, sausage, cheese, and over easy eggs. It came out piping hot and it was honestly impressive in how it tasted. I liked the thinly sliced sausage coins and although the pepper pieces were a little massive, they were soft enough with everything mixing together nicely. As for the wife, she went with a special in the form of the hash omelette which was exactly as it sounded with Swiss cheese and paprika hollandaise sauce on top along with breakfast potatoes on the side. I tried it and it was pretty tasty as well. One last item we chose to order was a single beignet for $2.50 as a side option. Sometimes we're just not feeling a full sweet breakfast, but this little fried ball filled with chocolate did the trick. Was it comparable to Cafe Du Monde? No way, but it was still quality. Honestly, the whole meal was quality and definitely several steps up from that first round a few years back. The only true gripe I can give is the soundtrack to Nappi's. The music, a touch louder than one might think at 9 in the morning, was a little too trance/dance/club for the vibe of breakfast. Maybe on a Sunday for a boozy brunch, but perhaps some music changes would create a little more of a "Nook" feel. Perhaps? Overall though, I'm really very impressed and glad to have given Nappi's Nook a second shot. It may have taken some time for that to happen, but it showed that this place was the real deal because it was still around, and winning Best of LI awards in the meantime. Perhaps a place to get to on the earlier side, but for sure a location I know I will be returning to for round three much sooner than expected.
