A true gem on Long Island, and something very different to experience. The space is very intimate, so a reservation as early as you can is a must, there is only like 10-15 tables inside the place. The staff is very friendly, and they were able to make solid recommendations for teas to choose from. The tower is also well and fully stacked, all of the tiers had really delicious choices, and my fiance and I really enjoyed all of it. They were also kind enough to give us some extra scones, they thought it was taking a really long time to come out, but we really didn't notice. Highly recommend for a fun and sweet outing. read more

Great food and a gorgeous little tea room atmosphere. I've always been a fan of this place. Sip tea and eat tasty sandwiches. A bit expensive but worth it I would say. Service was super slow because they only had one waitress doing the entire restaurant. I felt so bad since she was so nice and trying her best but it was clearly too much for one person on a Friday. I hope they can help their staff out in the future by putting more people on to assist! read more

Even though I go to this place every year (it's a tradition) there are many pros and cons. This place is full of amazing workers who are very thoughtful and welcoming. It was pretty cold in there but we did ask to make it warmer and they did. And Robinsons tea room is in a very safe and beautiful area in stony brook. The food was phenomenal! I got the tier and it had very good scones and desserts. Yet it took awhile for the food to come. We had an amazing waitress named Chad. Overall it was great. read more

Great little place for afternoon tea and kids tea. Nice selection of teas. Unlimited with the afternoon tea service. The kids loved the macaroni and cheese and Nutella sandwich. Hot chocolate milk and fruit salad. Adult tea with standard sandwich selection. Too full to eat the scone and desserts. We took them home. Lovely service from Chad. A must if you enjoy tea. read more

This place is quaint clean and adorable! The grounds are very pretty and there are lots of shops to walk around before or after. Really lovely experience with plenty of choices of tea, sandwiches, salads. Great options for vegetarians as well. Just wish they served champagne but I understand it's strictly a tea house. Everyone here was very friendly but they were definitely overwhelmed and very busy. It did take a while to get more honey, napkins. Would definitely come back. read more

I'm so glad I found this place! I had a great meal as a first time customer at Robinson's Tea Room with a friend First, the decor and vibe was so pleasant and something to look at on every wall. Second, we got the tea service which was worth every penny with endless tea options + 3 tiers of sandwiches, scones & desserts-there was so much food we took some home. The tea was amazing, and served a perfect temperature too. Also, the manager Linda was awesome and was honest that they were a tad short staffed but it didn't affect our experience because I had time to catch up with my friend and not feel rushed. The assorted food tiers were absolutely delicious, and the tea selections were a true delight. The beautiful floral décor and charming booth layout perfectly captured an elegant British-inspired atmosphere. The waitstaff were warm, polite, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. It was the perfect setting to bond over an English-style brunch while experiencing classic tea-time etiquette. I would highly recommend this unique and splendid experience and look forward to returning again in the future! read more

Robinsons Tea Room in Stony Brook NY is an easy five star experience and one of those places that feels special the moment you walk through the door. The ambience is charming, cozy, and beautifully done, with a classic tea room feel that instantly slows you down and makes you want to stay awhile. It is peaceful, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed afternoon or a special catch up with friends. The service here is truly great. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, making sure everything is just right without ever feeling rushed. They take the time to explain the teas, answer questions, and make thoughtful recommendations, which really adds to the overall experience. You feel welcomed and cared for from start to finish. Brought my service animal in a small bag/stroller and the restaurant was completely unable to accommodate her, despite her being a medical necessity. We were told to put her under the table even after explaining that I need her next to me for medical reasons. It honestly felt extremely ableist and made me question how they would accommodate anyone with mobility needs, wheelchairs, or even parents with strollers. When I asked how they would accommodate someone in a wheelchair, I was told they would "leave the wheelchair outside and carry the person inside," which I found absolutely shocking and unacceptable instead of actually making the space accessible. What made the experience worse was the attitude from two staff members. One older woman rudely said, "move out of my way, I have to walk," instead of simply saying excuse me. Later, when the younger hostess/waitress checked on us, we honestly explained that we were upset by how the situation was handled and how they never once asked for service animal paperwork despite trying to deny accommodation. We weren't looking for anything other than a sincere apology, but neither of the two women involved could bring themselves to apologize. Thankfully, another employee came over, acknowledged the situation, apologized sincerely, and even offered us two free scones, which we appreciated. It's upsetting because I actually really liked this place and thought it was super cute, but I can't comfortably support a business that handled disability accommodations this poorly. read more

This is our second time visiting. First time I really enjoyed it! This time we were waiting an hour from our reservation to eat/ drink tea. The actual tea was very good and I would rate that higher than the rest. The restaurant is small, but I knew this going in so can't really complain as this is our second time. The food was definitely not worth the price of the tiered tea service. The sandwiches were ok, but the desserts we all didn't care for. I'm a bit picky with my food so maybe that's the issue but it didn't seem worth the price point we paid. read more

I came for afternoon tea here with my mom and had a beyond wonderful experience! This is not only the cutest place but the experience is something everyone should have at least once in their life. First off, the ambience is incredible. The music and decor are so fitting with the theme. Our waitress Athena made our experience even better! She was so kind and explained the process to us and answered all of our questions. Robinson's is so lucky to have her. I did the tea service which they serve with fine bone china. For the tea, I tried the vanilla cupcake rooibos and apple cinnamon french toast. The cupcake one was my favorite and the best tea I've ever had in my life. I've never put creamer in my tea but it made it 10x better. I went with the roasted vegetable soup which was phenomenal and full of flavor. As for the tiers, I had a lemon coconut scone with clotted cream and jam. The jam was incredible and reminded me of the jam that's inside a rainbow cookie. I had the hummus wrap (dietary restriction) which was so flavorful and the dressing and hummus inside were great. Last but not least, the pastry assortment which was garnished with a flower. My favorite was the cupcake which had a delicious frosting. This is the perfect place for a mother daughter date, a lunch out with your girlfriends, or even an event. I cannot wait to come back! read more

Great service and good food , excellent tea! Very charming atmosphere, love the wedding tea!

Tea Service at Robinson's Tea Room was a delight. It is quite pricey ($45 per person) but is an amazing experience, includes unlimited tea, and is plenty of food. The ambience is unbeatable and the staff were friendly. The Classic Caesar was light and fresh. Came here for my birthday lunch with some family! It was such an enjoyable experience. The place itself was super cute. There were 4 of us so we got two of the high tea towers and I went with the apple cinnamon French toast tea. We each got a choice of scone then the rest was pre picked so my sister and I split an orange cranberry and cinnamon chip-they were both overcooked and hard. Then there was an assortment of sandwiches-the tuna and the cucumber ones stood out to me, I didn't love the salmon one as I found it too salty. There was also a great selection of desserts on top-macarons, strawberries, cupcakes, etc. It was a great variety and the price was not bad at all. Each time you get another tea you can switch the flavor also. You also get a choice of soup or salad to start. The soup of the day didn't sound good to me so I went with a Caesar salad. The service was not very attentive though. read more

Beautiful place. It is small , fyi. Great menu and lots of vegetarian options. I don't eat meat and was able to substitute the chicken salad for a different sandwich. Delish. You can get the British afternoon tea service for $45 with unlimited tea. It comes la with a salad or soup before they bring the 3 tiers plates with sandwiches, scone and desert plates. You can also order off the menu a la cart. Service was excellent. Easy parking. read more

Such a fun and enjoyable tea experience! I made reservations (highly recommended!) for 11:30 which I thought was the perfect time! By the time we left at 1:30, the place was packed... every seat was taken! The place, although small was beautifully decorated and had both booths and tables to sit at. I enjoyed the touches of art work on the wall and the delicate china and silverware at the table. We had the choice of an ala carte menu or the afternoon tea menu for $45. The tea came with salad or soup. I chose a garden salad and it was very good. Then we were able to choose from a huge variety of unlimited tea-- decaf and black, green and herbal infusions. So many options!! And if yea isn't your thing, then you can get coffee! We were then brought a 3 tiered mountain of delicious treats and sandwiches. The top level was sweets, vanilla cake with frosting and jam and cream filling, brownies and macaroons. There was also panna cotta which wasn't my favorite. The second level was filled with savory items--- mini sandwiches-- cream cheese and cucumber, lox and dill, egg salad and tuna (which were not my favorite and I chose not to eat them after one bite). My favorite had to be the spinach and cheese quiche slice-- so delicious and hot from the oven! The bottom layer had 2 generously sized scones (you were able to choose your flavor), fresh raspberry jam and clotted cream. The waitstaff, although extremely lean was very nice and helpful. They did not kick us out and brought plenty of refills of tea-- I tried 6 different kinds! I cannot wait to go back and try this place again! I even brought and order of 6 scones home! I definitely recommend this place if you like traditional afternoon tea! You will not be sorry! read more

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed getting afternoon tea there. We each preferred our own tea from a long list of regular and herbal teas. And they have the three tiers of savory and sweet with your choice of several options of scone to pick. We both chose orange cranberry which was delicious. Everything on the tea tray was delicious. Would definitely go again. read more

I really enjoyed this spot! It's a really cute British tea spot in the Stony Brook area. We ate outside and the waiter was very friendly and waited on us outside. The service was also pretty fast. I got the cinnamon scone with clotted cream and raspberry jam that I really enjoyed. The scones came in 3 other flavors. I also got the peppermint green tea they served to go which was great so we could leave when we were done eating. The tea selection is vast and I definitely plan on coming again to have that delicious scone again and try a different tea. read more

My bestie and I have been here before for High Tea. It's small, but very cute and the choice of teas and the sandwiches and treats are all tasty. Our last visit they were out of several teas (waiting for their order) and the cucumber sandwiches were larger triangles, rather than small teas sized sandwiches. They only had the standard scones (no specialty/seasonal). We had extra that we ended up taking home. We hope to try some newer places next time, but the schedule worked out to revisit Robinson's. read more

The food was tasty and the tea selection provided a wide variety. It was extremely busy and the server we had didn't know about the herbal elixirs because he said he normally works in the kitchen. It was humid and 90 degrees the day we came and the air was unfortunately not working at all. It was an interesting experience. I have to say for the hour drive and the prices I was a little disappointed. read more

What a lovely find in the Stony Brook area! I've been here a few times actually and every time its been a delight. Inside is cutely decorated and service could not be any sweeter. We all ordered the afternoon tea set for $45 which comes a freshly baked scone, clotted cream, jam, pastries and sandwiches galore. What is nice, is that the desserts are themed for the season! For the Valentine's season we had a pink cupcake and a chocolate covered strawberry to boot. Everything overall, was delicious! Some things I enjoyed more than others. But it was an added benefit that I could take home everything I did not finish. With a wide variety of teas and other full plated dishes to choose from, I implore you to visit them gem in the village! read more

Visited yesterday with my girlfriend and overall had a great experience. The atmosphere is quaint and casual but can at times get a bit noisy. The food was delicious; The cinnamon scone was fresh and flavorful, the sandwiches on the second tier were very tasty and the assortment of desserts on the top tier were all very nice. The service was a bit slow but it was busy and there was only one girl and she definitely was trying her best. One of the desserts was a vanilla cup cake that was beautifully decorated with frosting, but the pink, round decorative sprinkle beads on top while meant to be edible were hard as a rock and are definitely capable of breaking a tooth so be careful. read more

Was sad to hear they closed, but they've since reopened, was wondering if it would be as good as it used to, well guess what? It's even better!!! New owners are super welcoming, sweet as can be. I honestly have never had a scone this good! I overheard a customer asking and they make them there. OMG delicious. I chose an orange cranberry. It was so moist & buttery, just filled with flavor, the best I ever ate, ever. I know I keep saying it, but it really was! It came with clotted cream & raspberry jam, it was perfect . I paired it with rose petal black tea. I felt like I was in the Cotswolds!!!! Absolutely loved it! read more

5 + Stars for being the cutest and friendliest restaurant ever!! My sister and I took my mom to lunch for her birthday and she was absolutely thrilled with it all. Of course we ordered the whole shebang and everything was perfect. The food was plentiful and delicious, the teas were amazing, we each had 2 little pots. Our waitress was unbelievably personable and so friendly and the decor was just so cute! We had a blast and stayed for probably longer then we should have just talking and laughing, no one rushed us out or came with the bill to give us the hint to leave. I have been looking for a place that serves afternoon tea like the tea service I had in London and I finally found it on Long Island. The afternoon tea service was presented beautifully. The only drawback that my mother complained of was the scone was too hard for her. My cinnamon scone was tender enough so I shared with her. The service was excellent. The ambience was cute and cozy. They managed to squeeze us in last minute and we were sitting by the bathroom which wasn't too bothersome. The sandwiches were moist and delicious. There was a good selection of pastries and the tea was hot, tasted and smelled divine. I would come back and try again if I was in the area. read more

Lmao biggest rip off. Any eight year old with two working hands could make all of this food and if not, you can pick anything up here at a grocery store near you. I went for the experience of having tea and I will say that the tea is pretty nice but I wasn't impressed by any of the food. We also got sat in this very strange area right next to the bathroom where everyone was walking in and out very close to our table which was an added annoyance. read more

Had brunch here for my daughter's 16th birthday with our family - 10 of us. It was our first time eating here. Inside was small but intimate and comfortable. The music was all contemporary instrumental at the perfect volume of entertaining background noise but no obnoxious and interrupting conversation. The place and table setting is gorgeous! The food was PERFECT! Even though everything was little, it was just enough of everything to taste a variety and get REALLY full! Brought so much food home! The tea was outrageous! The service was attentive but not intrusive. They let you eat in peace but make sure to keep things moving and the table clean. I would 1000% recommend this place! After a less than stellar experience a couple years ago we returned this week to try one of our old favorites and were much happier. Initially we had made a reservation for 2, however our babysitter bailed and 2 now became 2 plus a 5 year old. We had our reservation for a Wednesday at opening so I didn't think it would be an issue but they at first told us we would have to leave because they were too busy to accommodate a party of 3. They were slammed. They luckily were able to move some chairs around and we had a great time. Service was slow but they were slammed. Food was SO much better than last time. Absolutely delightful! Petite shop within a larger shopping center with unique and simple decor. Very feminine... as tea tends to be. Took my young ladies for the morning and adored everything. But the teapots to the three tiered display of food. I felt the prices were reasonable for the experience and amount of food/ tea. Not sure how I haven't been here before now, but this place is beyond adorable. It's tiny, adorable and you need to make a reservation because there's no more than 6 tables in the entire place! Came with 2 friends, and we all got separate things. One friend got the lunch special (pictured below) which is 4 tiers and a ton of food! Top tier is dessert, middle tier is lots of finger sandwiches and bottom is scone of your choice. This is all FOR 1 PERSON! if you've ever been to yea in England, this is as close as you're going to get in the US. I had a salad and chicken leek pie. It was so hot and fresh, I can't wait to back and get it again. The tea selection is so extravagant... I told our server to surprise me. She got me the Paris blend, it was awesome. I went home and ordered it for myself so I could drink it at home. The charm about this place is how casual it is, yet, you want to look trendy or slightly dressed up. The plates, cups, dishes don't match, lots of British signs and pictures on the walls. Definitely a perfect lunch spot for a group of girlfriends to go, hang out and chat. read more
