The establishment is very spacious and bright/open. There was no wait on the particular weekend that we visited. The artwork on the walls are comical. Mint latte was a bit too sweet. Service (5/5): The servers were polite and speedy for any of needs. We ended up staying much longer after closing our tab, like until close, and they didn't even ask to us to leave! Luckily, there was another table also staying until the end. Steak Sandwich (5/5): The ciabatta bread was soft and soaked up the delicious pesto sauce. The meat was tender and overall a great sandwich. Roasted Forest Skillet (3/5): The meal itself is really heavy. There's definitely enough for 2 portions. I've had this place bookmarked since moving to Patchogue, almost two years ago. Finally made it in with my boyfriend this morning. We arrived around prime breakfast time on a Sunday, around 945 AM. We didn't have a wait and we were seated right away. After looking over the speciality latte menu, I decided on a rainbow cookie latte with almond milk and my boyfriend had a black iced coffee. My latte was just okay. It was more of a mocha flavor than anything. Almond milk was also a $0.90 upcharge. I know there's usually an upcharge for milk alternatives, but I do wish our waitress mentioned it. Also, $0.90 is more than what Starbucks charges, as well as other local breakfast spots. My boyfriend's black iced coffee took a while to come out, which is odd considering it was a simple black iced coffee. It was also not good. It was very watered down. My omelette was very good! I had the sausage pesto omelette. Everything about it was delicious, and it was the most generous omelette I've had when it comes to fillings; lots of sausage, cheese, peppers and tomatoes. Pesto was good too! Potatoes had a nice seasoning. My boyfriend enjoyed his omelette at first. He had the all American omelette, which had American cheese, ham, bacon and sausage. He said the bacon was very salty and actually ruined the omelette for him. I had a bite of just the bacon, and it was like taking a salt shaker and dumping it in my mouth. Rise & Grind was alright, but didn't impress my first time there. My wife and I decided to pop in for brunch on a Saturday morning. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were seated in a booth, which was comfortable. There are stick figure doodles on the wall which are fun and give the place a unique sort of flair. The food wasn't good. It's pricey, but in fairness they give you a good sized portion. We ordered two vegetarian options and the vegetables weren't great. They were sort of bland and a lot of the vegetables were either room-temperature or cold. In particular the roasted red peppers and green bell peppers in both the Veggie Lovers Skillet and the Benny Avocado were cold. The Veggie Lovers Skillet was also a bit odd because the avocado mash and pico de gallo was very cold in contrast to the warm (not hot) "skillet." The potatoes were bad in both dishes. They were a little tough or chewy and felt like the leftovers of a hotel's continental breakfast right as they are closing. I might give this place another try, since there are other positive reviews and perhaps we just had bad luck our first time... but with other really nice options in the area, we might not be back any time soon. read more

We usually go out to queens, Brooklyn, NYC; this time we went out east and landed here. It was completely worth it, I'm all about the design workmanship that goes into the restaurant design but also the positive atmosphere created by the workers there. I'm about to make a bold statement... Rise & Grind is one of the best breakfast places on the Island. It's right up there with Toast (I honestly think this place might be a bit better) and Maureen's Kitchen. From the second I walked in I was blown away. The decor is minimal, but very cute and clean. There is a counter up front for you to grab and go, but I highly suggest dining in towards the right and to the back. My cousin and I literally split everything because: 1) we were so hungry 2) everything looked so delicious we wanted to try everything 3) why not?? First, my chai latte was PERFECT. The mugs the drinks come in are adorable! The staff was kind and patient as we were freaking out over what we should get. As we sipped our warm beverages we decided on the following: -corned beef hash with a fried egg -fruity French toast -chicken and waffles Each dish was just as good as the last. But I have to say a nice surprise was the potatoes that's came with the corned beef hash. I could not stop eating them. Some of the best I've had! The staff is friendly, but the food we ordered was so-so, and the cleanliness was not up to par. You would think it is a high quality after waiting for 30 minutes, and there were empty tables. Anyways, once called to be seated. Our table was Wet from a wet cloth wipe. This felt disgusting, and they could have come behind the damp rag with a dry rag and wiped the wetness from the table. But why did we come? Because of the food, suitable? We order pancakes, a pesto steak sandwich, and a steak and eggs plate. The pesto sandwich and pancakes were delicious. But the steak and egg were not up to par. I do not know if the steak was old, but it gave me an old taste and was not marinated. When I grabbed the salt and pepper to fix my steak, maybe again, the taste was off-putting--I had never tasted a steak like this. The condiments need to be wiped down because they all feel sticky and are from careless poring of the syrup. Maybe serve the syrup when someone orders pancakes. I do not know the problem with this place, but this experience left me not wanting to return. Spending $90.00 for a lousy breakfast experience is insane. But what can I do? Also, they need to wash their coffee cups! We received our first coffee cup with a little lipstick stain, and now I'm worried about whether I caught anything from the person before using the cup. But the future will tell, so I'm writing about my experience. Perhaps I'm a passive-aggressive person. I say this because in the moment, especially when at a food establishment, there are a lot of things I could potentially say but choose not to utter as they might be deemed a little...negative in nature. Case in point would be Rise & Grind where my wife and I had a "meh" visit that resulted in this 3-star writeup. You see, things actually started off in the 5-star region as we walked in to a cute looking establishment with a friendly older woman taking our initial coffee order. The place has clever stick figure drawings along the walls and when you first enter, a nice little coffee bar. You can tell that the morning Joe is important here because they have a ton of interesting and intriguing options which can be made hot or iced. For example, my wife got the rainbow cookie iced latte while I got the peanut butter truffle iced latte. Both tasted wonderful with those flavors really coming through along with a nice aesthetic presentation (check the pic). Beyond the coffee, I can't give many positive accolades to R&G, and that's from a food/cost aspect. I mean I'll say that the menu of Rise & Grind appears to be vast with plenty of options, but before even ordering, you might notice that the prices are a little ridiculous. Almost all of the omelets, Benedicts, and skillets are close to $20. The pancakes and French toasts come in a little lower at an average of $16.50. Ouch. Yeah I know inflation is a thing, but I can go to Brownstones Coffee and get an avocado BLT Benedict with a side of breakfast potatoes for $14.50. Just sayin'. And while we're sayin' potatoes, let's get into the real swings and misses about the grub at Rise & Grind. Their skillets (I got the Roasted Forest Skillet) and eggs (my wife got The Classic) come on/with "home fries" which are actually just really large pieces of undercooked potatoes with skins on them. Last time I checked that's not home fries...plus they had basically no flavor. For my skillet, the waitress asked what kind of eggs I wanted in it, and I figured over-easy would work well for the purposes of the runny yolks. Welp, the thing had hot cheese melted on top so when I got into eating it, the yolks had all solidified...I mean over-easy shouldn't even be an option if that's going to happen. Add in some tasteless chorizo, roasted veggies that didn't do much to help, and a ton of those aforementioned bland potatoes and you've got an extremely subpar skillet. For my wife, her eggs (with American cheese on top for an extra $1.50) and sausage (patties not links) were fine, but for $16 total it wasn't worth it, even if the portions were decent. Overall, Rise & Grind begins as a cute coffee spot, but ends there. Yeah the brew is great and I might even consider returning just for the caffeine, but honestly I don't think it'll happen. Food-wise there's a lot of draw from that menu, but the overpriced and lackluster tastes of their items just ruin the entire experience. Their highly-ranked Yelp score makes me truly wonder if we had an off day/order but regardless, consider this the end of my passive-aggressive review. read more

We went here for my wife's birthday brunch. The place is a clean and well decorated. We were seated fast and the service came over quick to take drink orders. We all got something different. My wife loves traditional Eggs Benedict so she got that she said it was good but eggs were over cooked needed to be runny and Eggs with Corn Beef Hash it was good as well eggs was too runny but corn beef hash was homemade and great. However, they kind of scrimped on the GOOD ingredients. The got the forest skillet (it looked absolutely amazing)- however it consisted of mostly potatoes & cheese (hence the filling aspect). There were barely any seasonal veggies or chorizo as advertised. My husband got blueberry pancakes- also filling but not the best. The syrup is REALLY sweet. A tribe full of wonderful people on the inside and out who are ready to fulfill your desired requests in a moment's notice. First I need to say, this may be the most underrated breakfast spot around Patchogue. I Will most certainly be using this as my new patchogue brunch spot. Parking is easy, it's clean inside, so adorably set up, and the waitstaff was a gem in a world where most servers don't care. So much so that if our food had not been great it still would have been a pleasant experience. Our food however, was great. I don't love super sweet coffee so the waitress suggested half syrups To get flavor without the overwhelming sweetness I don't love. It was perfect, I'm not an iced coffee drinker but my daughter raced over hers being a solid cup! For the food, my daughter built an omelette, seriously, the amount of bacon they out in was impressive. The omelette didn't have that smell or taste of an omelette left 30 seconds too long in the pan. Considering how much they filled it, the meal was still balanced with the egg to filling ratio. I had the Mediterranean skillet, I swapped out caramelized onions for mushrooms and I regret nothing of this meal. It was so filling and absolutely satisfying. Took Mom here today at 2:15pm. Walked in saw sign that said wait to be seated. We waited, saw employees look at us but no one seated us, after about 10min I said do we seat ourselves? The lady came out from behind the counter and said how many I said two she walked us over and sat us. There were three tables in the place occupied. My son ordered a large caramel frappe, he also ordered the A-BLT, (the A is for avocado) they ended up running out of fries by the time our food was ready, they were able to accommodate us with a different side, my son was happy he was able to have more bacon. I am not sure what is happening here. This place was so good back when it opened. Fun atmosphere and the staff is good, for what they are dealing with. The food is ok, nothing to run back for. I go more because there is not a long wait like the surrounding places and I don't need much to keep me happy. The management does not seem to care. Although I personally, am treated ok, most of the time, probably because I know Anthony pretty well, I have been in and seen and listened to how management treats customers and it is always someone else's fault or they are new, or the "system" is down or slow today, or we are so busy you need to understand (even when it's 1/2 empty), we cannot deal with the take out volume etc, etc. They just do not take any responsibility for their own issues. Now they are substandard for what we are looking for and compared to what is available in thee surrounding area today they are not meeting expectations at all. I expect a canned response blaming something else as I see on other reviews but that tells me a lot about them as well. Anthony said their heart is not really in it as it was before and it shows. Almond Milk no Sugar): I really enjoyed the taste of their coffee...I'd go out of my way to go there just to get their coffee! Rise and Grind is the way to go for hometown comfort food and a great cup of coffee. I would say right now they are more like a 4.5 star or a soft 5. They have a couple logistic things to work out, but what doesn't new (or even COVID era) restaurant doesn't? It can definitely get busy, but they're really fast at turning tables over without making customers feel rushed. My biggest complaint is probably that they don't have a large available for hot coffee, which is a bummer. Either way, that doesn't take away the fact that their food is amazing. The skillets are the highlight of the menu. My personal favorite is the Southwestern Skillet. Although, I will admit that the potatoes can take over some of the skillets. For example, Forrest Skillet sounded delicious, but it had more potatoes than seasonal vegetables. Philip (the owner) and Charles are the sweetest people, and they also managed to get Brandon on board as a barista, who has worked at a CRAZY amount of coffee shops on Long Island. I know that the price can be a little steep for a cup of coffee, but it's worth it. I used to drive 30min to get a decent latte, taking the risk of getting a burnt latte or the wrong order. Went here on a Saturday for brunch two weeks ago, and it wasn't insanely crowded. I'm from BK and this was my first time eating inside for months. I was nervous, but the tables are all spaced out and some servers even wore double masks! I felt really safe and taken care of. The fact that they have a parking lot gave me and my friend such a piece of mind as compared to other places down Main St. Our waitress Ariel and I think the manager (Charles? Charlie?) were so kind and sweet. We both ordered the chicken and waffles (in their brunch menu) and were pleasantly surprised. Wasn't too sweet but was just the right amount of savory and sweet. Definitely ask for syrup on the side if you aren't sure about how much you want. We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture of our food. I got the chai and my friend got a white mocha. Yum, yum, umm. So a big check mark for the quality of their food. I was truly surprised by how yummy the side of eggs where. I had french toast with a side of bacon. Awesome. Bacon was crunchy, French toast was terrific. Another Yum check mark for the coffee. I had an Americano, as good as any coffee shop around. A huge Ummmm? to the price. Breakfast here for an omelette or eggs is nearly $20. French toast is $14. I can say that is about 25 to 30% more then comparable places and 50% more tan some local diners. The quality is definitely worth a price increase, but I will put George's French Toast at $9, over the FT here at $14, with a family of 5 that adds up quickly. May19, 22. Today is my husbands 65th birthday and I took him here for a really nice breakfast to start of all his celebrations! We live 30 minutes away and a trip well worth it my husband had the Mediterranean skillet with added sausage, and a Pina Mimosa and I had the chicken and waffles with the Tropix and OMG it was all, all so Delicious no !!!!
