Heritage Diner - A Bright Spot for Lunch The eatery is big, bright, clean, and inviting. The menu choices are extensive, offering something for everyone. My wife and I stopped in for lunch and were greeted warmly, then immediately seated at a cozy window booth. Our waitress, Rosalie, was helpful and attentive throughout the meal. I ordered a three-egg omelette with fries and rye toast -- everything was cooked just right. My wife had the BLT on sourdough, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We both left happy and satisfied. Visit Date: June 10, 2025 My two friends agreed to drive out there and meet me for our monthly girls only breakfast. I'm a lunatic, I like running and I like running in different locations. I am trying to run in every single town I have a list in on Long Island. Usually I run after we eat so they supported my crazy and met me here for breakfast so I could do a Mt. Sinai run after breakfast. It's a cute diner, it definitely has the cute aspect down, with canvas photos of different diner nostalgia and diner menu offerings. They have a great outdoor seating area it was too rainy to eat outside or I would have went for eating outside. I got the coffee and I chose the sour dough breadbasket with eggs and jam inside of it. I thought it looked like a unique menu item I couldn't get elsewhere. The bread was good, the eggs were a little bit on the bland side and the jam was good as well. One of my friends is my boyfriend's housemate so I gave her my leftover food to take back home for him. The service was good too, still a three star diner in my opinion based on food but I would come back here again, it wasn't terrible. read more

Ordered omelet with toast and potato salad. Waitress pointed out that the wording is "toast and potatoes." Since I ordered potato salad--which by the way was one of the options offered--- I would be charged extra for the toast. I declined. My buddy ordered another omelet minus onions. The omelet shows up with onions, which he picks out. He points this out when she shows back. No apology. No break in bill. She comes back with story from cook on how it may have happened. If I could give a review lower than 1 star I would. ALL OF OUR FOOD CAME OUT ICE COLD. I don't understand how a diner could be so bad, avoid this place at all cost... food is horrible, service is worse, and their menu isn't even written in coherent English. read more

Service: usually Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, and will gladly ask if a certain order is available because of the time of the day. Ambiance: Inside: Comfortable, very clean, updated furnishings not overdone. The staff is always making sure everything is clean, and no cluttered tables awaiting cleanup. Outside: Many plants to greet your arrival. Nice to see even if you're not an avid gardener. There is a patio placed off the entrance side, approximately 8 to 10 tables. This last Winter caused a havoc to the wooden planters and definitely needs professional upgrades. It's ok but not my liking to sit on a parking lot on blacktop on a Summer day. Food: Usually diner good, not happy with the additional cost of 3.50$ per cup of coffee when it was included weekdays. Its a 20% tab to the bill, hence reducing the number of days we go there. (as others have mentioned) Bring back the coffee included please and see the volume of patrons come back more frequently). This order was Simply THE worst ever eaten there. The two of us ordered the "Classic Tacos " Being hungry for a taco for a while seemed like a good try. The menu (I think) priced them out for 6$ each, or three for 17$ Anyway..no big savings there..skip the coffee (saved 7$)..who likes coffee with tacos anyway. Well, along came the three tacos each: A small plastic covered container each of: Sour cream Hot sauce Guacamole And three crispy "beef" tacos. The first bite told me..this is not tasty. DRY, dry, dry... Not like I am accustomed to when ordering a beef, crispy taco anyway. A "classic taco " to me is: A Beef hamburger fried put into the shell, topped with shredded montery jack or a mexican mix cheese, tomatoes in small chunks, lettuce chopped, and top it off as you want..usually black olives cut up. This batch had: A small bit of sliced beef with a bit of lettuce next to iis fold, and American, yes, yellow American cheese sliced in small squares sprinkled on top. I really don't know if it had, tomato, I must have, right? LOL. If I made anything like this at home.. I would ditch it. Anyway, after four tacos were consumed, out of an order of six tacos, the 36$ bill was a lesson learned. My error..but remember: "Do it once, lesson learned,Do it twice, blame yourself " Enjoy your day read more

Excellent food with great service. My daughter feel the in love with the macaroni and cheese sandwich made on fresh bread and grilled just perfectly. I ordered a bowl of the seafood bisque and a side greek salad, both were delicious. Wide variety menu with a amazing dessert case to choose your favorite sweets. Clearly there is new ownership. It has been a to go to diner- food & service always good. Met some friends there today- menu a little confusing but decent. They Had the Largest Font promoting Trump Vodka. I asked why his vodka is being promoted and not another brand(ie Tito's ). The guy couldn't really answer, then said "he's the President and he's popular". I told him that was a Mistake- I will no longer support this business. Sad but true. read more

Came here with my girlfriend, girlfriends sister & her husband for a late night dinner. Loved the dinner feel this place has and made me feel like I was at a local dinner back in queens. Staff and waitresses were amazing and the atmosphere here is great. Very family oriented and local spots for family breakfasts, lunch, and dinners. Came here and got a burger and it was one of the best burgers I got in a long time. My girlfriends sister recommended the burgers and she was right. The burgers here are top tier and I highly recommend. Great milk shakes as well and just had a solid dinner here. If your looking for a great dinner in Mount Sinai, don't look far. One of the worst meals I ever had in my life. I'm sure breakfast is good but do not go here for dinner or lunch.... This is "chicken and biscuits"- charred/burnt chicken with dry biscuits. My family and I have eaten there literally dozens of times, and our most recent visit was the last one for sure. After seating the 3 of us, we waited for a few minutes for the server to come take our drink order (which she did). We ordered our meals which amounted to a couple bowls of soup and 2 burger platters. it took 20 minutes for the soup and then after an additional 20 minutes we were advised by the server that the kitchen "got slammed" and that the food would be a little while longer as a result. I advised her that we needed to be at a wake and that if the food was going to be more than a couple minutes longer, we'd have to cancel the order. She brought over the check for the soups and soft drinks, and I went to pay and while doing so the manager brought over the burgers which were wrong, one was supposed to be regular without cheese. I let the manager know that we'd been there for 45 minutes and at this point we had to go and that the service wasn't acceptable. No offer of an apology, nothing... poor customer service is inexcusable. With diners being closed all over L.I. you'd expect better service from one that's been there as long as they have. Disappointing to say the least. read more

Impressive service! It was my first time here and we were greeted by a man in a suit with menus in his hands and seated us as soon as we opened the doors. It's like he saw us coming up the ramp or something. That was awesome. We got a nice server. Very sweet girl. Can't forget her...she had a blue bow in her hair and matching blue eyeshadow lol. She took our orders pretty fast, and food came out just as fast. Our orders were pretty simple: - eggs scrambled with american cheese and home fries and rye toast - steak & eggs w home fries and toast - coffee The food was enjoyable. Is this diner under new ownership now? We live in Ridge. It used to be very good and we'd trek past Rocky Point diner to go to Heritage. My beef gyro was comprised of processed thin almost see-through strips of meat like you'd find in a super market freezer section; arrived without tzatziki sauce, and was overall a poor attempt of a sandwich, with a very pathetic side salad. My lady ordered a tuna melt, which was served open on a pita with neon yellow fake looking cheese, and luke warm fries at best. Come on man! I guess now we have to drive further west to Lake Grove diner. read more

I walked in and should have immediately left... all 3 times :/ The first time I went there was one worker in the back and he looked so defeated and deflated and like he'd given up on life and the food also looked like sad. I thought it would have been a great time to go with lots of food turnover because it was approaching what I thought would have been peak dinner time but the place was deserted and the proteins all looked like leftovers from the Protozoa Era and the rice looked like it survived the Chernobyl disaster. Being the optimist that I am I ordered what I'd usually get at a Chipotle -- a bowl with rice, chicken, veggies, beans, that sort of thing. I got home to dig in and unfortunately it tasted just how it looked -- like sad. I hate wasting food, but the chicken was so dry and everything was flavorless I couldn't eat more than 3 bites. I salvaged the chicken for my doggo and he was happy. The other times I ordered similarly and they were the same as the first. So I guess if you stop there check to see if the food looks appetizing first and if not it probably won't be but if it looks like it was just made you might get lucky! :)

Every dish had its own unique flavor, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. My favorite of the night was definitely the handmade corn tortillas with the different proteins; they were so yummy! Of course, there was dessert! For dessert we had coconut flan and lemon cake, and both were the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Even though our dinner was outside, I did get a look inside the restaurant, and the interior is just as beautiful as the patio. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Extremely Disappointed with the Service I am writing this review on June 30, 2023, with a heavy heart following a highly disappointing experience at Heritage Diner in Mt. Sinai. My 11-year-old son and I have been regular patrons of this place, particularly fond of their cheeseburgers. However, our recent visit over the 4th of July weekend was overshadowed by an incredibly distressing incident of poor service and what I believe to be discrimination. We were initially seated by a lovely young lady, but the server who took our order was rude to an extreme. When I suggested we could be served by someone else if she was too busy, she instructed us to move to another part of the diner. As a customer, I found this to be completely unacceptable. The most upsetting part was that this all happened in front of my young son. The situation escalated when I asked for the manager, only to be told that she was the manager. She refused to give her name and suggested we go elsewhere. Even the front desk staff were hesitant to provide any information about the owner of the establishment when asked. This lack of transparency and accountability left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. I believe in giving credit where it's due, and we've had many pleasant experiences at Heritage Diner in the past. But this incident was incredibly disappointing and it has tarnished our view of this establishment. I'm sharing this experience not out of anger, but in the hope that no other customer, especially those with young children, has to go through something similar. No one should feel discriminated against when they are simply trying to enjoy a meal. We don't take discrimination lightly, and neither should Heritage Diner. read more

My husband and I went here tonight, per recommendations from a server of ours and we were utterly disappointed. We both ordered from the Early Bird menu, he the meatloaf and me the chicken scampi. I ordered a salad and he got the matzo ball soup which he immediately returned, saying it tasted like water. The salads were typical small tossed salad and the bread basket had a decent assortment of crackers and rolls. Then the meal came, my chicken had a light dusting of paprika and was attempted to be cut in strips, chewy, grizzly and absolutely no flavor...I ordered some lemon, squeezed that on a small area, covered it with black pepper, a big dash of salt and Parmesan cheese, nothing, inedible. My husband decided to take his meatloaf home, but still hungry, we both took a little taste before we were to box it up. The gravy was orange and bland and the texture of the meatloaf was mushy and disgusting. We called our waitress over and apologized profusely, but said we simply could not eat the food. We told her to charge us for the salads and apologized again. She informed us she would get the manager and then she dropped a check for $14.00. The manager never came to the table but he was running the register and we told him what happened. He disagreed with us on everything. I then said $14.00 for 2 small (side) salads and he shrugged. Being in the restaurant business for many, many years, I felt 2 salads should have been comped since we were legitimately disappointed and left hungry. The food is good but we'll not be returning after 5 years of visiting this diner at least twice a month. Trump Vodka is proudly promoted in their drink specials section using the largest font in the entire menu. Everyone is free to their political beliefs but if you want to make it associated with your business, then we are not going to support your business. Diners are pretty simple businesses - breakfast and burgers. Injecting this stupidity into business reveals the owner is an idiot who thinks their opinion matters to anyone.
