Please do not go there - It is under new management, with poor service, lack of experience as a restaurant owner. A year ago, we dined at this new restaurant. I ordered a burger and fries, and it was fantastic. The ambiance, aroma, and service were exceptional. Last week, we decided to return since our previous experiences had been wonderful. Upon entering the restaurant, we observed it was not very crowded, with only 3-4 tables occupied. We learned it was under new management, as the owner had sold the establishment. I ordered my favorite, a raw burger and fries, while my son chose a fruit salad that included bananas and berries. There was just one waitress who eventually took our order. The food arrived, but my burger was fully cooked instead of raw, and the buns were burnt in some spots. My son's dish came out missing the bananas. We pointed this out to the waitress, who went back to the kitchen and returned to inform us that they didn't have any bananas but could offer plantains (fried bananas) with honey as a substitute. It was banana-like, but not the usual banana. I let the waitress know that my burger was not prepared correctly. The restaurant manager noticed and approached our table, asking, "What seems to be the issue with the burger?" I explained that it was fully cooked and the buns were burnt. The owner then asked if I would like another burger, to which I replied, "Yes." While I waited for my burger, my son realized there was no sugar on the table for his drink. He spotted some sugar by the counter, just a few steps away, and went to get it. The manager/owner asked him, "What are you doing?" My son explained that there was no sugar. The manager instructed him to return to the table, assuring him that the waitress would bring it over. My son came back empty-handed. We requested sugar from the waitress, but he continued to wait. While the kids finished their meals, my burger still hadn't arrived. Eventually, my burger came, but the sugar never did. When it was time to settle the bill, we realized we were charged for a burger that was improperly cooked and burnt. I crossed out that burger entry and decided not to leave a tip for the waitress. The service was terrible, and the food was mediocre. I made a note on the bill indicating that one burger should not be charged. I even took a picture of it for my credit card in case the restaurant tried to pull a fast one. Days later, I came across a review that mirrored my own experiences. There was a rude manager and cook, an unskilled waitress and cook, and the table was not properly maintained. The phrase 'under new management' seems to equate to poor service. read more

We went today after some fun in the snow. What a great experience. Our waitress was wonderful and The food was delicious. The place is spacious and very well put together. All around awesome. I got their ricotta lemon pancakes and asked that they put blueberries inside. This was amazing!!!! My guy got the King's men breakfast. and my other friend got the sweet potato pancakes. I usually review places to applaud and recommend them. But alas here is a rare 1 star review. Lunch for $100 at Relish is not worth it when the food is not good and your server disappears. The food took a long time to come out and it wasn't prepared correctly but out server was MIA after she dropped off the food. Our entrees came out at different times, so by the time everything arrived some items were cold. Our server also said they didn't have carbonated water but they serve soda which has carbonation, strange. Fish tacos??....see picture. read more

The empty parking lot on a Saturday morning should have tipped me off. Walked in, greeted quickly, noticed there is only one diner in the place. Was lead to my table and abandoned for about ten minutes, while two of them huddled over some paperwork at the cash register. Always a good idea to get drink order right away and bring customer a cup of coffee. Or at least a glass of water. But on a positive note that gave me extra time to look over the menu. Sky high prices. Omelettes are about $21. Add a $4.50 cup of coffee plus a tip and you're talking $30 for breakfast. No way. I put down the menu and walked out. read more

We came in around 3:30 on a Saturday We were only patrons inside which isn't a good sign. The waitresses were super friendly and very sweet. The food was below average. I ordered a omelette which was ok but the bacon and hash browns were pretty bad. My daughter's pancakes were actually pretty good. Light, fluffy with fresh strawberries. I had crepes with my omelette which were dry, not light and creamy like a crepe should be. Price was pretty steep too, $55 for all of that . read more

A great, little brunch spot located right on the corner of Pulaski Road, so in the summer months they can open the full size windows to let the breeze in. All of the food we got was fresh, delicious, and came out of the kitchen hot. This is a good place to come with a few people for a nice comfort breakfast or lunch on a weekend! read more

Located on the quaint main street of Smithtown, owners have expanded the front dining area, taking over the front parking lot with a cozy indoor/outdoor area. We fancied a bite to eat here after fabulous reviews from their other location in Hauppague. They have a breakfast menu all day and a magnificent bottomless drink menu #worthit. I have went on a weekday mid morning during spring break not so busy. It did take a relatively long time for our order to come out. Even the drinks the waitress apologized saying they had to get more tequila for the margarita and just gave us one Bellini my friend ordered in the meantime. My friend ate the eggs Benedict (no complaints) amd hash browns that looks and smelled fabulous. I had the challah French toast with sugar and side of bacon. French toast you could easily split between two people. It was delicious. The side of bacon was extra crispy and consisted of about 3 strips. We also dabbled in a cheesecake dessert that was mouthwatering with a chocolate drizzle and some whip cream. I had a cappuccino as well not so much the best but it was smoldering hot. They've renovated since the last time we were there and although the decor is really nice the place is drafty as hell. Food is good but it's like a step up from a diner with prices that would be more appropriate for a nicer place. We used to love this Relish but went there under the "new" management for some takeout and tried to pay with a gift card which was purchased and given to me under the old management. They refused to accept the card as payment so after we argued a bit, I refused accept the order and headed for the door. The rude manager told me to never come back and I told him not to worry. My husband and I have been here before and it's always been ok but after today we are definitely not coming back. Here's all the issues we had today: 1. Doing loud construction during business hours five feet from the table. 2. Extremely rude waitress 3. Didn't get the right meal but she never came back over. 4. We were the only ones there and not only was our order wrong but it was very cold. (Eggs) 5. Waited an extremely long time for the check 6. Your basic brunch spot with enough options for everyone. Everything from your basic pancakes and paninis to some speciality dishes built around hash. My dish was delicious and hit the spot. Service was all I could ask for and all in all I felt like I had a good meal. Cute and clean place. Simple review because it really was a simple meal, but in the best way possible. Is this place under new ownership? Use to be so good. They make a point to say no toast with the omelette. They don't have the good potatoes anymore. My daughter ordered a burger medium rare it came out well and now you either get fries or coleslaw but not both. The tomato juice is warm. Damn I use to love this place. read more

Luckily I came here with people that I like because thats all that was good here. As we walked in we got seated next to table where someone was painting the wall. There was only 2 other occupied tables so not sure why the sat us there. Waiter was annoyed we were there. Barely took our order. Someone came by with luke warm water no ice. Pancakes came to table and were not even warm. No syrup. No butter. Bacon,egg and velvetta cheese on a roll was awful. Definitely some sort of fake gross cheese. My 2egg platter is served with bacon and home fries with toast. Asked for home fries well done. Nope they were cold also. Toast came with no butter and no jelly. Had to ask for everything we needed. Waiter filled up the coffee cups of the table behind us. Looked at me and then walked away. I could go on but not worth it. I have never been to this place and never would go back nor recommend it. New owner has NO clue .... went for a burger - first one came out still frozen - my wife and daughter had finished their meals when the 2nd attempt at my dinner came out .... STILL raw , fries were same ones as first burger and bacon was ovi dropped in fryer instead of grill . We walked in it looks like everything is a mess tables were dirty wait staff totally discombobulated. Some guy is painting yup I said it painting during the brunch rush. No more brunch specials. New owner last week, who has never had a restaurant before is ruining a once favorite spot. Smaller portions and watered-down cocktails. He has grand plans and has expensive "specials" with suggested wine pairings. Really? If he knew his customers he would know that this was a beloved CASUAL dining spot with delicious food, nice portions and reasonable prices. Relish has most of the components to be the go to breakfast/lunch spot in the area. The dishes they offer are big, creative, and delicious at a fair price. The hostess greeted us with a warm and friendly smile. The decor is inviting with a modern twist. You hear other patrons chatting away and having a great time. Even the customers next to us were making small chat with us. It would've been a near perfect experience except for the girl who brought us our food. She didn't look like she wanted to be there. We also asked for some maple syrup for our pancakes and I swear I saw an eye roll. After a few minutes, we asked another server and got our syrup within seconds. She never came back. We also felt rushed to by another server to leave. After we asked for a to go box, we were asked if we needed anything else 3 times within a 7 min time frame. That's excessive. Although Relish has no cork or cake fee yay I'm aware of, they have another very annoying fee which is just stupid. A $7 plate sharing fee. So a $18 salmon Benedict shared between 2 people will be $25. And that's just plain silly. read more

Medium busy when we arrived, but only took a couple of minutes to get seated with menus. We got our wate pretty quickly and coffee too. The portions were very nice size as we could also see on other tables. I had the Maple bacon (pork belly) with eggs over easy, cheese grits and toast. My husband had the pastrami hash with Swiss, eggs and toast and home fries. The hash plate was devoured and enjoyed. The maple bacon was delicious, but some parts were hard to chew, perfectly cooked eggs, toast was nice but the grits were just okay. A bit loose and could have used a bit of seasoning. My preference, and taste. My disappointment was the to-go order I brought home for my guest. Eggs, ham and home fries. I should have taken a picture as I was putting it in the fridge, but forgot. It was barely a plate full. We asked for No toast. There were two eggs(fine), a very small portion of ham and gee, like a scoop of home fries..... For $11.00! So disappointed. I saw there were a few negative reviews for Relish, I am so glad I came here for the first time today. This was a really positive experience for me. I was greeted kindly by the host and seated before my reservation time. Our waitress Karen was SO nice, accommodating and helped me learn the best items on the menu. She was also really attentive and refilled our drinks, gave us extra napkins when needed and helpful. The sandwich I got (a pot roast grilled cheese style sandwich) was honestly the best I have ever had. If I ever see something like this on any menu, it's my go to- and this was the best I ever had. My husband had a burger that he loved too. Relish was a great experience, friendly staff, reasonable pricing for the quality and size of meals and a clean restaurant. Whenever we visit my parents on LI, we make sure we either have a breakfast or lunch with them at Relish in Kings Park. Each visit is always fantastic from the service to the food to the atmosphere. I even picked up the big Relish logo mugs to give as gifts a few years ago and enjoy the heft of the mug and the memories from such a great place. The wait staff and hostess are always friendly, and they great my 90 year old parents with big smiles and remember their names and preferences down to Dad is the coffee drinker and Mom green tea. My husband and I both had the absolutely perfectly prepared avocado toast with the best multigrain bread. Great portion sizes and prices. read more

This place used to be good, but my family and I had an awful experience. I am severely allergic to peanuts and nuts, and the waitress we had clearly didn't understand the severity of food allergies. We started by asking if they used peanut oil because they served house-made chips as a courtesy. She responded, "Oh nooooo, no no... well, I don't think," and said she would check, but she never actually did. When I placed my order, I reiterated that I have a peanut and nut allergy. She acknowledged it and wrote it down on her ticket. However, my instincts still didn't trust her. Later, when a sweet busser came by to fill our water, we asked her about peanut oil, hoping she would confirm with the kitchen. The busser did ask the waitress, who then came back over. When we asked again, she assured us, "Noooo, 100% no." Despite this assurance, while our meals were on the table and I had already started eating, I heard her yelling to the kitchen staff, "No peanut oil, right? No peanut oil?" The problem with this situation is that, although I understand no restaurant can guarantee 100% allergy-free food, the waitress handled this irresponsibly. I have worked as a waitress before, and I would never confirm information without being absolutely sure. Putting someone's life at risk because of a lack of knowledge is unacceptable. It's okay to not know, but it's essential to find out and provide accurate information--especially when it comes to allergies. Waiting until after the fact to confirm this information is dangerous and unprofessional. read more

It didn't help to have ants in one of the sugars on the table. Then I had to remove the roach from the other sugar. Then when I told the waitress to give us another sugar my wife had to ask her to check it for bugs. Then when I tried to pour it out it was rock solid. But she did refill some our coffees. Out of habit I left a tip but not near what I'd normally leave. After all, the eggs were good for me... but my daughter said HER eggs were prepared incorrectly... but it was nice of the waitress to let her know in advance rather than fix it before bringing it out. Pancakes were good. Corn beef hash was not good. Waitress was friendly enough. I'll pray for her but I'm betting Relish's days are numbered if another breakfast place opens up nearby.
