This is a cute little diner located in Babylon Village. Apparently, it has been operating in the same location for 37 years. I stopped in for a quick solo breakfast. I ordered the two-egg breakfast special, which included hash browns, toast, two eggs, and coffee for $11. Meat was available for an additional charge. The food was good, but nothing particularly extraordinary. The employees were friendly, attentive, and checked in often throughout my meal. While I was there, the staff sang "Happy Birthday" to a customer and brought out a pancake, which was a cute moment to witness. It was a pleasant experience, and I'd stop in again. How could you not love this place? Retro look and feel. Love the waitress and the food. We sat outside, because we didn't want to wait for a table to become available inside. A lady with her dog walked by. The dog stopped in her tracks & refused to move. lol I got the chicken & waffles. it was really yummy! We (a party of four) waited for a while before being seated in a small booth towards the back even though a larger one was occupied by only two people. The waiter was rude and unattended. We had to ask a few times for table settings since only two were placed. The iced coffee tasted like water which I only took a few sips. The summer salad (on the daily special board) comprised of a few scattered strawberry slices and dried cranberries when it was described as having fresh, seasonal berries by the waiter. It was a disappointing and unpleasant experience for our lunch date with friends. We would most likely enjoy eating at other places nearby where we would be welcomed and appreciated. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to get breakfast early Saturday morning which I thought would be a terrible idea. To my lovely surprise, there was seating for us at the bar. I also thought the service would be slow, but it was quite the opposite. The wait staff was super attentive and even made accommodations without issue. This little luncheonette is nestled between stores on Main Street. It's a small place with about 7 booths, a counter and a bunch of smaller tables. It has a retro feel and brings back nostalgic memories. It's a very tight fit restaurant and it was very crowded on a Friday late morning, which means on a Saturday or Sunday there will be long waits. There are many staff members and I found they were not as attentive as I thought they should be. With that much staff, they should be filling coffee and seeing if we needed anything rather than having to raise my hand to get their attention. The restaurant was clean even though you could see its age. Let's start talking about the food- The coffee, served in large mugs, which I like very much, was strong and bold and satisfying. We had the Traditional breakfast which was three eggs, breakfast potatoes and toast. The over-easy eggs were cooked too long. The toast was burnt. The breakfast potatoes were terrible. They were just cut up potatoes cooked with some paprika. Not impressive at all. The Mediterranean Omelette was much better and the olives thrown in make this dish the standout of the meal. We ordered French Fries instead of the breakfast potatoes and these struck me as frozen, grocery store bought fries. They were soft and very disappointing. The three stars is truthfully due to the atmosphere. It was cool and I liked being in there...but not enough to come back. read more

My review specifically relates to their breakfast - the food was amazing. Our table ordered the Traditional, the half hash with eggs, a Belgian waffle, and a stack of banana pancakes. I would recommend anything mentioned above to any body I know with a high likelihood of ordering the banana pancakes each visit. Nothing of real substance to note otherwise - maybe if you're super cheap you might be able to squeeze an omelette for $3 less at one of the other area diners. About it. Staff is super friendly and accommodating! Three stars because of an extremely limited vegetarian menu. As someone who looks to limit dairy and eggs as well, there was only one item that I could find.. a garden salad. First the good, if you're looking for nostalgic than look no further. It's definitely a cool 1950's vibe but not because they're trying, it's a genuine authentic feel. Not many of these kinds of places left. And definitely not in Babylon Village, which has a hip but bougie little main street. Second, the food is mediocre. Sounds good on the menu but the execution is a flop. Pretty much any diner could beat it. Don't even think about ordering an egg cream, which is ironic given the nostalgia of the place. Sent the first one back because it was flat, got a second delivered the same way and I just dealt with it. They were either using flat seltzer to start with or they over beat it. The sausage was the most ridiculous thing I've ever tasted coming from a breakfast spot. It literally had no flavor. They were just these pale little links with no snap and no seasoning. It's strange that owners or staff would think this is ok to serve or nobody there is doing quality control. Last, is the service. Down right horrible. Glen's wife is a doll and she is great but it ends with her. The rest of the waitresses forget everything. They will bring you the wrong food. They don't time meals accordingly with the rest of of your party. And they never come back to check on you or when you ask for something, you will have to ask again while your food is getting cold. This is not my first or second time to this place and it's always something, so I walk in with a bit of trepidation. We all know how much things cost nowadays and when I feel like spending a little extra for a nice breakfast it shouldn't end in frustration. Glen's Dinette is surrounded by Neighborhood Charm that extends into the dining area. The food is typical with one shortcoming that could easily be fixed... Food: 2/5 - The few times I've visited for breakfast the food has had an aftertaste that comes from the grill not being really clean when it's cooked on. For example on today's meal, the sausage had that taste. To test, I cut off the outsides and ate it. The taste was not present. It could also be tasted in the home fries and the eggs. My spouse noticed the same thing. It has a greasy taste and the scrambled eggs had a dull look. Service 4/5 - Attentive and because of the size of the restaurant they are always close by. Refills of coffee were no problem. Ambiance 4/5 - The booths are comfortable and you get the feel that you are nestled in a local staple of the community. Glen's has been around for quite some time and the walls are decorated with photos and knickknacks from the past. Seating is limited so if you go at a peak time there may be a wait. Value - 3/5 - Not too expensive. Cleanliness 2/5 - Aside from the aftertaste issue in the food, the restrooms are basically clean but you can tell their is some grime in the grout on the floor. The restaurant isn't' filthy but it's far from spotless as could be witnessed at the server area just outside the restrooms. Parking 2/5 - Depending on when you go, it can be tricky if you're not familiar with the area. There are metered spots right outside that only accept coins. There's a lot across the street which technically is for customers visiting stores in that lot. Parking there isn't likely to be a problem. The lot is pretty big near the back of it. There are some other free parking areas in walking distance if you look them up on your favorite map app. Overall 3/5 - The food is the thing thing keeps me coming back repeatedly. However I must say, that this place does some brisk business for the locals so perhaps that "greasy spoon taste" is just fine for you. For me, I probably will visit again in a year or two to see if things have changed. It's a place I would really like to be a regular at if the food taste issue was fixed. Glen's Dinette has become our go-to weekend breakfast spot. We love the convenient location near DPA & 231, right on Montauk Highway. The family owned business serves breakfast all day & none of their menu items disappoint. The breakfast combo offers a lot of great options for a great price. Breakfast sandwiches do not come with home fries so don't forget to add an order. The Chicken Sandwich on the lunch menu is one of our favorites. They offer Frank's Red Hot or Tabasco which I cant help but appreciate. Their iced coffee & iced tea are my go-to beverage choices. During COVID19 they were open for take out only but have recently added tables to the sidewalk for outdoor dining. I assume they will resume indoor dining this week or next but call to confirm. Thus place is a super cute breakfast/lunch place on main Street in Babylon village. Right now during the summer they have a few tables outside and of course indoor seating. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so don't do what I did the first time I tried to come here and get here too late in the afternoon (oops). I got to Glen's around 1130am on a Tuesday and it had a pretty good amount of people but zero wait for a table. The staff was friendly and the food was good size portions and really delicious. I got the Ceasars salad and it was really good. The atmosphere is classic diner style. It's a good place to meet friends for brunch or have food with the family. read more

I absolutely love Glen's! By far the best breakfast I've had on Long Island - a Babylon staple that doesn't disappoint. I've been countless times, but my most recent visit I sat at the counter and watched my breakfast being made! Everything is fresh and made to order (no stacks of bacon which I've seen numerous times elsewhere!). I ordered a short stack of traditional buttermilk pancakes ($5.25) and a side of sausage ($3). Both were so delicious - I love the way they cook their sausage; links sliced open-faced and cooked well done. My mom and sister both got the Traditional + bacon ($9) and loved it as well. read more
