By far my favorite breakfast location on Long Island. The food here is fresh, authentic and the atmosphere is a step back in time to its humble beginnings. Favorite dish here is the banana-pecan French toast. Can get it as a stand-alone or as a platter with eggs and bacon etc. I usually split it with the wife along with another dish like the corned beef hash or the "Idaho" Plan ahead this is a cash only establishment, but well worth every penny! read more

I lived in Babylon Village and also had my office there as well. Yep, right on Main St., just "a hop, skip and a jump" from Glen's. So I got my "fix" almost every morning. Been going there since 1990. When Happy and Christina took over the helm, the great breakfasts got even better! We've been living in Florida for a number of years now and can honestly say, we LOVE Florida....but there's no Glen's here. Sure, there are some nice breakfast and lunch places that serve good food, but they all lack the great food and homey atmosphere...the "sense of neighborhood". Every year when we come back to Long Island to visit family and friends...Glen's is at the top of the list of places to visit when we're there! Glen's Dinnette is a local tradition that has gained legendary status. I haven't been in a while because I am rarely free on the mornings that would be easy to find parking in Babylon. With a Friday off, Jen S. and I went for a late breakfast. I believe they are cash only, so keep that in mind. We found parking with almost a full meter and headed inside. We were greeted and told we could sit wherever. We found a nice both and looked over the menu. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which came with eggs ready to run over a bed of beans and a tortilla. It was great. If you are really hungry, everyone speaks highly of the Idaho. Glen's is a great place to hit up if you can. It's an old school breakfast spot. I would have breakfast at Glen's Dinette every day if I could. A traditional American diner located in Babylon, Glen's Dinette serves the most extensive and delicious breakfast menu I have ever seen. My friend said this place is always crowded, whether it be a weekday or weekend, and she was right! We dined here on a Monday morning and there was literally only one booth left. A few minutes' later, a line had also formed outside.  Back to the menu - it is HUGE and trust me, you will have a hard time choosing what to eat. I love pancakes, and really wanted to try some truly authentic ones, so I ordered a stack of their traditional buttermilk pancakes. You can also order buckwheat pancakes, blueberry pancakes, banana and blueberry pancakes, and even pumpkin pancakes. Wowzas! I also ordered an egg and sausages, plus my friend ordered waffles for us to share. It was literally the best breakfast I have ever eaten - the fluffiest pancakes and nothing like we have here, served with loads of real maple syrup and butter, and again, the best waffles, all washed down with a few cups of bottomless joe! Visit Date: May 10, 2014 I came here with hubby for breakfast on our monthiversary. They are awesome for breakfast. The diner itself is old fashioned looking but not in a cheesy time warp sort of a way it's more a classic cute old fashioned. I had the Idaho without the bacon. I thought it tasted pretty good but if you're a meat eater it probably taste much better with the bacon. The idaho is two eggs, toast and a ton of home fries with cheese, scallions and bacon. I couldn't finish it because it was HUGE so you could share it with someone or take it home. Hubby had some eggs and a waffle. His waffle looked so much better than the waffle I ate at the American Waffle House in Seaford. It looked like it was different levels of inviting, crispy, flaky waffle, it seemed there was good dimension to it but I didn't taste it. The coffee was pretty good too, approved by me! Hubby's verdict was that it was good too! We'll definitely be back again on occasion. A friend highly recommended this spot, so I decided to check it out. Ambiance was good upon arrival. The staff is friendly and provided great service. However, I can't say the same about the food. Perhaps I just didn't get a good choice. Food Crispy chicken sandwich combo 3/5 I love a good chicken sandwich on a brioche bun, but this didn't quite hit the spot for me. The chicken was small and bland. I think any fast food chain makes a better chicken sandwich.... Waffle combo 4/5 Light and fluffy, just how you want it with just enough sweetness. Eggs were cooked just right. Sausage was different as they were cut in half and left on the grill. Sidewalk outdoor seating was well taken advantage of on this beautiful day. Inside great placement of large plexi glass dividers between booths. It's every bit of busy you'd imagine an eatery that looks like this to sound with people making breakfast by the ton at the back, the lovely waitstaff going in and out of the kitchen to serve the food out, people chatting about their day, etc. The photographs on the walls, the wallpaper, the lovely print on the tables, and of course, the original ceramic dishes- it's an all-around, A+ classic. Came here on a Monday at around 11:30am to get some type of breakfast brunch food. When passing this restaurant it always seems packed. We walked in and the place has a retro vibe though very small. We waited for a few minutes and then got seated at a booth. Looking over the breakfast menu and there was a lot to choose from. They seem to be known for their hash. My boyfriend ordered The Idaho which seemed to be a popular dish. I ordered the special which was farmers breakfast I think. The farmers breakfast was interesting. The sausage stuffing was tasty and the root vegetables were delicious. The portion was perfect for me but I still couldn't finish it all. My boyfriend thought The Idaho was just okay, he thought it was just too much potatoes. Just his opinion. I tried his dish and it wasn't anything too special to me! The service was quick and they accept cash only. It is a cute place to grab breakfast/brunch/lunch. If you are coming with a larger group I can see how it would be hard to accommodate. I have been coming here since as long as I can remember and I love this place. It's so simple and easy here. What I mean by that is they have great breakfast classics. You can't go wrong with a plain old cup of coffee and a plate of eggs, potatoes and toast. They don't add a special ingredient, it's not about making everything presentable here but everything is delicious. You can park on the street for a quarter in the meter or the parking lot across the street. It's cash only and there's sometimes a wait on the weekends but you're guaranteed to enjoy your food. read more

Despite living relatively nearby my whole life, I'd never been here before. I wish I'd come sooner, to say the least! I mean, brunch is my favorite meal. Anyway, I like the vibe of this place. And even though there's a lot of booth seating, I was easily able to roll my wheelchair up to one of the tables. I ordered the huevos rancheros - eggs scrambled instead of poached - and some sour cream on the side. It was one of the best versions of the dish I've had anywhere. Tons of black beans, a bit of spice but not too much, fresh avocado slices, really substantive tortilla on the bottom (not soggy). Can't wait to return! read more

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I've lived in North Babylon for 16 years CD and have always wanted to try Glenn's. For one reason or another I just never made it UNTIL...Friday February 22, 2019. Let me tell you Glenn's was well worth the wait. I only wish I had gone sooner so I could have been enjoying this gem of a breakfast spot all along. Well now that I have experienced the best corned beef hash and the Farmer (two eggs Benedict on top of a mouth watering mound of sausage stuffing accompanied by sauteed root vegetables. It was a not just a party, but a gala in my mouth. The menu boasted so many wonderful choices but I have to admit that I can't wait to go back and have the exact same thing!!! So happy I finally made it to Glenns. This is one place you need to put on your bucket list. read more

Just left this place for the first time with my girlfriend and it was really good. They get a 4.5 rating from me, and a 4 from the girl who also paid. We had two of their main options from the brunch section of the menu, and she added smiley face chocolate chip pancakes. I had The Farmers which was like a thanksgiving version of Eggs Benedict (7.5/10), and she had The Idaho (8.3) which was like an awesome southwestern skillet just on a plate. I would have given them a 4.0 rating - but I absolutely decked one of the servers with the door coming out of the bathroom, and she took it beyond gracefully. Will be back ! read more

IHOP is dead to us! Saw the reviews on yelp and decided to stop in for breakfast. So glad we did. Lines are a little long but it's worth the wait. Such a quaint little place in the heart of Babylon. A hidden gem. My fiancé ordered the Idaho which seems to be a big hit. And rightfully so. The hash and eggs cooked to perfection. Seasoned and not overcooked. Our daughter had the smiley face pancake kids meal. She absolutely loved it. I went w a pancake combo and let me tell you the IHOP sugar hangover you feel for the day is nonexistent. The pancakes put them to shame. Light extremely tasty and not to filling. The eggs cooked perfect. The bacon was a little well for my liking but everything else outshines that. The Ruben seems to be another hit at glens and this family will not return to IHOP. Glens you have gained a family. If you're looking for something like home glens is the place to go! Pretty good, but not incredibly good. For starters, I could never figure out why a diner would be closed on a Sunday... So, I finally got to get in there on a Saturday morning. The place is hopping, but the wait was pretty short. The restaurant is set up like an old time diner with the requisite coca-cola signs on the wall and the old Hamilton Beech mixer behind the counter. The menu is pretty extensive both for breakfast and lunch/dinner. There were so many choices for breakfast that it was almost impossible to decide. I settled on a veggie omelet. As I had taken a seat at the counter I got to watch the cooks in action. Surprisingly, they scramble each egg order individually instead of ladling out eggs from a bucket as I've seen it done elsewhere. After all was said and done, the omelet was nothing spectacular - nothing better or worse than I could have made at home. I'll go back and give them another shot at lunch or dinner. Service was wonderful and the prices were extremely cheap for the amount of food you got. Parking is on the street at meters. read more

This is my GO-TO place for breakfast! Forget all the diners/IHOP's of Long Island, if you want a great breakfast then there is no better place than Glen's!! REAL Corned Beef Hash (not some canned crap), homemade hash browns and when I tell you about the Blue Monkey pancakes you will be at their door when they open tomorrow!! Blueberries and Bananas in PANCAKES OH MY!!!... Just a dream to eat!!! Wash it all down with a great thick chocolate milkshake and VOILA, the perfect hangover breakfast is served! They are only open until 3pm each day, so no dinner menu... Lunch menu is just as wonderful as the breakfast menu with fresh ground beef and not frozen patties for hamburgers... and that Thanksgiving on a Roll, or even a wrap is truly a mouth-watering experience! Can get crowded on the weekends, especially in great weather. It doesn't matter what time of day you're driving by, Glen's is always crowded. Always. Having lived in North Babylon for almost a year, I knew I needed to get here eventually and see what the fuss was about. I pulled up just before my schedule meet-up time of 11 AM. After giving my name and party size, I was told there would be a 15 or 20 minute wait. 15-20 minutes for a table in a small restaurant on a Sunday? That sounds more than fair. My friend came soon after and before she could even sit outside with me, my name was called. It had barely been ten minutes. Glen's Dinette is a blast from the past. The table we sat at had the old-feeling table top with the neon boomerangs on it. There were stools near the counter and pastries behind glass. There were old black and white pictures everywhere. Had it not been for people dressing like it's 2018, I would have thought I stepped back in time. The service at Glen's was great. Our waitress gave us coffee and tea. She took our orders promptly and our food was delivered soon after. My friend had the eggs Benedict while I went for an omelette. She requested hash browns as an add-on, but I was surprised and pleased to see that my omelette came with hash browns. This may have been on the menu and I just didn't notice. My omelette, although basic, was delicious. Her eggs Benedict must have been great because she ate the whole thing. As we were finishing up, the waitress asked us if we wanted anything extra. A fresh scone with butter or jelly? A muffin? Home-made cookies? There was only one right answer: scone. Here's where Glen's went from 4 star to 3 Star. As it turns out, Glen's had sold out of scones for the morning. Now I understand that inventory issues happen anywhere, but our waitress has been by the pastry display most of the morning and should have known they were unavailable before offering it to us. Without the scone, we just wanted the check. The waitress brought us the check and disappeared while we figured out how to split the bill in our cards. 15 minutes later, she still wasn't back. As I looked for her, I saw a sign that said STRICTLY CASH ONLY behind the register. Had I known that, I would have gone to the nearby Chase bank while waiting for my friend to show up. Luckily my friend had enough cash to spot us both. As she put the cash in the black folder, the waitress came back. She asked us if we needed change (we didn't) and since we had scarfed down our meals, we were free to go. We left sconeless and I now owe her 15 dollars. It's not a lot of money per person, even when she lives in a Venmo-less world. To summarize, the food and atmosphere were great for a casual Sunday breakfast. I would definitely go back there (with cash). But maybe not on a Sunday when there are no seats available. read more

I'm not from Long Island and I'll never understand Long Island, especially the South Shore of Suffolk County. But every now and then, there's a gem. Glen's Dinette is one of my favorite places within a 15 minute drive of me. There are a ton of terrible diners on Long Island that somehow stay in business despite horrible greasy food plated like it was still 1970, but Glen's Dinette is different. After working a night shift, there's nothing better than sliding into a booth at Glen's and having a hearty breakfast before going to bed. The breakfast options at Glen's at plentiful and everything I have had looks and tastes fantastic. My two go-to options are The Idaho and The Farmer's Breakfast. The latter is not on the menu and is, instead, listed on their specials, but seems to always be available. The Idaho is what you want when you just need to carb load. It's a giant pile of homefries (big chunks of soft potato) cooked with bits of bacon and scallions and topped with melted cheese. On top of that come two eggs any style (I'd recommend over easy so the yolk can be mixed in). And on top of ALL THAT, comes two slices of toast. That whole mountain of food gets dropped in front of me and it's a race to eat it all before I fall asleep. Everything goes so well together. If they were to do a TV segment on this place, The Idaho would be the featured dish. The Farmer's Breakfast is what I get when I want something "a bit lighter", even though it's not light at all. It is essentially two squares of "hash browns", but instead of potatoes, it's made with sausage stuffing. You know how there was this trend online of putting stuffing into a waffle maker and making a stuffing waffle? Well, this is similar. The stuffing cakes become crisp on the outside and soft on the inside with a really nice sausage flavor. It's topped with two eggs (again, I'd say get them over easy) and hollandaise sauce. This is served with a pile of roasted root vegetables on the side. The root vegetables really make the dish. Instead of giving hash brown potatoes which would make the dish richer, the roasted root vegetables lends some sweetness and earthiness to the stuffing. The balance between the sweet root vegetables, the complexity of the sausage stuffing, the gooey egg, and the nice rich hollandaise makes for one heck of a bite. There's only one problem with Glen's. Somehow your clothes get completely covered in aerosolized grease without you even knowing it and you smell like old grease when you leave. Whenever I go, I purposely don't bring any outerwear inside and try to just wear stuff that's going straight into the wash. I don't know how they manage to get your clothes smelling of grease when the dining area has not a hint of grease smell, but it happens. It happens every single time you eat here. But it's so worth it. read more
