Haven't been back since August due to life! This time I expanded my pallet and got Greek food Never had Soulvaki before waitress who is kind and pleasant steered me in the right direction. Also had my wife pick out a dish which was her favorite. Her dish was amazing! Chicken and Steak were cooked to perfection, pita was soft and delicious! Cozy little place with a nice wine selection. I think they do mostly take out. The food was ok, nothing spectacular but not bad. Greek salad was good and had a creamy type of dressing, not the usual oil and vinegar type. Walked in with my son looking to grab a quick bite to eat and immediately felt at home with the warm ambiance! This place is so quaint and cozy and I got lost looking through the endless menu options! Everything on the menu was making my mouth water so after narrowing down my order to "The Hera" and hummus, me and my son sat down to eat and WOW was I blown away with how delicious the food was!!!!!!! Perfectly seasoned and presented, I absolutely cannot wait to go back! Even the pita was unbelievable and soooooo soft and perfectly warm! I cannot wait to try the rest of the menu as well as dessert!!!!! Wish we lived closer as I think this place would quickly become a second home On top of that, the owners are angels and probably the sweetest humans I have ever met. Not sure why there could be even one negative review. The gyro meat here is phenomenal. I have moved away and tried every Greek and Mediterranean place in my new city and nothing compares. Every time I'm in the area this is the #1 stop. My staple is the Greek salad with gyro. The dressing is creamy and delicious. I ask for pepperoncini and onions. My one con is they used to put more dill in the salad which was delicious. I usually takeout and then add my own fresh dill. I also like the falafel. It's flat and thin - different than most falafel. Wish they were in San Francisco! read more

I couldn't believe how rude the waitress was we had today. I received my bill and there was an extra charge for using the credit card. I wasn't informed of this. She said there are signs all over that mention the charge. She points near the bar to this 3 by 2 inch sign with some note about using a credit card. My question to myself was, "how the he'll was I going to see that?!". I kept it professional and left a good tip. I looked where to add the tip on the credit card receipt and the waitress said cash tip only! I said, I can't put a tip on my credit card? She said there's signs everywhere saying it's cash tips only. Btw the sign was in the entrance when you first walk in. I then asked myself a question, "happens if I didn't have cash?" Thankfully I did and I left her an adequate tip. I then approached her kindly when I was leaving and said that I was upset that she didn't make me aware of the surcharge on my credit card...she said(in an unaccomadating tone) there's signs that say it.. I said the problem is that you are giving me attitude and I'm a customer with a complaint and you're not being professional. I mentioned to her that I left an adequate tip even after this experience. She then, said sorry under her breath in a tense tone and told me to have a nice day. This place reminds me of something I've seen on kitchen nightmares. My mom swore by it, but when you go there on a Saturday night and are in the dining room with one other party, something must be wrong. I was reading the other reviews here that say the owner is quite rude and that staff training is needed here. I did not meet the owner but I can agree completely with the training of the staff, they need to be trained to be more professional and friendly. I'm not sure if the staffs attitude is a result of working for a difficult owner. That's my guess. Cordialness is essential for longevity in the hospitality business. Especially in an industry with so much attrition. The prices also are absurd. The food isn't bad, but I'd say it's 20% higher than it should be. I hope this review was informative. -D read more

If I could I would love to leave no stars for this place. I will never go back again even if it was for free!!! The waitress if you want to call her that was rude and unprofessional. The place is filthy dirty!!! Now the food we spent over $100 and I couldn't even eat my burger because it was bad. I couldn't send it back because the waitress was never around. When she finally came back to our table to clean up our plates she didn't even ask why 3/4 of my burger and fries were still there. When I got home I started to feel sick to my stomach and called to speak to the manager about the chop meat because I felt it was bad. They would not get on the phone!!! What type of business is this for a manager or owner not to bother with a guest on the phone. If I was you I would highly recommend you to find another Greek restaurant to go and eat at. You will also notice that when you leave a bad review the owner will leave a nasty answer to it. Very unprofessional. read more

This place was an extreme disappointment from the beginning. From placing my order to my first and last bite. The food was tasteless, poor quality, dry and disgusting at best. The owner has a horrible attitude and shows total malcontent for everything. I called a several times to rectify the issue with my very expensive order and nothing. She won't return my call or get on the phone. This is not how you treat a paying customer unless you know you are in the wrong. What a shame. I can't image a worse experience!!!!!! The place is extremely FILTHY!! I felt like it was a bate and switch trick as they had a "hidden notice" under a pile of trash at the front counter indicating 'due to surge in poultry prices .95 additional charge to menu items" We had one appetizer, two bowls of soup and two glasses of sangria and were charged $75. ONLY GO IF YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY. We even had to pay for chips to go with the dip appetizer. We dined in but might as well been take out. Our soup was served in takeout containers and we even had plastic "teaspoons" for the soup. When we questioned the prices the owner promptly YELLED AT US over the phone. I WOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER go back and advise anyone to not go there. Now I know why there was an irate patron on the phone as while we had dinner. Grecian Cafe is an absolute gem!!! A cozy, warm and inviting spot with delicious fresh food!! The owners treat you like family here. Living in Queens for 30 years, I was lucky to be in close proximity of Astoria where I always went for my Greek food cravings. I was overjoyed to discover Grecian Corner Cafe after moving to Long Island! The food is second to NONE!! Couldn't be more grateful that it's right here in my neck of the woods, as I no longer have to trek into Astoria when my craving for Greek food hits!!! It's a lovely, little corner restaurant that has a friendly and personable staff. I can't say their falafel is all that great. It's often mushy and lacks little in the way of seasoning. I find the pita overly thick and overwhelms the whole meal. I have tried them on several occasions to make sure it wasn't an "off" day, but every time I've had the same dish and it's been mediocre every time. read more

There's nothing not to like about this cute place. Me and my roommate comes here for dinner at least once a month. The food is great and always fresh. We love their Greek dressing and something about their lemon string beans, we can never do without. I also have tried their Falafels, Corner Stuffed Avocado Salad (with jumbo shrimps, one of my favorite), Shrimp Kabobs, and my roommate's go-to is always one of the Gyros. The portions are big (always have left over for lunch the next day) and they definitely have some nice selections on their wine list too. I've been going to this restaurant for many years, and I'm really not sure why it got so many bad or mediocre reviews! It's not the best Greek food I've ever eaten, but it's certainly respectable. I ordered a large Greek salad, dressing on the side, feta on the side, well done chicken. They answered all my questions about how the chicken is marinated, didn't screw up my order and gave me a mountain of feta cheese and salad dressing on the side. Their tzaziki could definitely be better, it's lacking dill and it's almost to creamy. They charged me $18.60, which is pricey, however, this salad will feed me twice, so if you look at it that way, it's not terrible. read more

Great find in Greenlawn! Was looking for a change from my usual favorites of Italian or Burgers/ Pub Grub, and a friend suggested this place. They do take-out, as well - but we decided to dine in. The inside is very quaint & humble, and is small enough that you almost feel like you're eating in someone's home. The food is delicious! We were first given an on-the-house appetizer called Amouse Bouche that was like a Greek Bruschetta on fried pita. So good. I then (mistakenly) ordered Spartan Cakes - which I thought were Spinach & Feta cakes (those are apparently called Athena Cakes lol), but which turned out to be fantastic crab cakes served on an delicious bed of crispy (fried, I think?) romaine. Next we had a Greek Salad (of course). I wouldn't think there was much room to "outperform" on something so basic - but the dressing was very different from the usual (oily) Greek Salad vinaigrette, and the feta and the lettuce were really fresh. For the Main Course, I had a mixed platter of lamb (grilled to perfection) & Falafel. The staff is a bunch of sweet & friendly young women who couldn't be more helpful. As always when I leave a strong positive review, I worry that if everyone else discovers these little gems, I won't be able to get a table for myself! So I've been going to this Greek restaurant for a long time and today I was very disappointed, I bought a half pan Greek salad which I've done lots of times which I always add chicken and I pay $45 but today they had a new young lady working there and she charged me $71 for a salad, and said it's $36 just for the chicken being added by the way it's only like 5 cutlets Really so I call for a manager she tells me all these stories about she is out she had a baby her husband is away I can't give her your number she won't be in anytime soon. I'm just furious about the whole thing and will not go back to them ever again. This place is a hidden gem. I didn't want to write a review but it looks like the cat is out of the bag. We waited for a table but with a glass of wine in hand, making the wait not so long. The ambiance is super cozy and sweet. Love the toasted beet salad and the mussels. It's the perfect balance of high end food, family friendly environment, and price. Went here for dinner tonight. The dinner food was good enough, but the following stood out at dinner - the yogurt source was underwhelming, the French fries were very unflavorful and the custard of the creme brûlée was not properly set and was soupy. All of these things would not have been that bad until we got the bill which was very expensive and included a "tax service charge" for our group of 5 people. The high cost of the food and the "tax service charge" will definitely have me not recommend this place to others and will not go back to have dinner their again. read more

Me and my mom have been coming here for over 15 years. Food is always good however we have had multiple occurrences where the manager/owner katerina has not only been rude to customers but especially her employees. After going to pay our bill with a 50$ gift card there was a 16$ balance which we wanted to pay on our debit card to make sure we had enough to tip the waitress (they require cash tip). the waitress proceeds to tell us that the card machine is 20$ minimum. We ask to speak to the manager... who refuses to speak to us and tells the waitress to inform us we have to put our cash towards the bill and take it out of the hard working waitresses tip. is this a way to treat your employees or customers? this was the final straw and unfortunately after over decade of going there we WILL NOT BE RETURNING. very disappointing. read more

First. It's a lovely little local restaurant, not overly kitschy. Only about 10 tables but they do take out. We had the baked Saganaki as an appetizer and it was fabulous. Roasted cheese over tomatoes with pita. He had lemon chicken soup which made him very happy. We both had sandwiches with salads. The sandwiches were very good but the salad dressing was Amazing. Went here to try it. We both ordered the lamb gyro along with a Greek salad. It took 40 minutes to finally get the salad. We kept waiting for the gyros, when about 10 minutes later a wait person came over and asked if we wanted anything else. We said we never received the food we ordered, and asked if it always takes this long to get served. The wait person said that they were very busy. 10 minutes later, an hour in at this point, we asked where our food was, after we saw a table that came in after us got served. They apologized and said they couldn't find our order. We paid for what we had and left. What a disorganized mess. Stopped by last night, and it was delicious! There were a few tables going, mostly couples. Very intimate setting- but we were waited on immediately. The hummus dip and spinach-feta dip were great- not too much but perfect for a light snack for 4. It's great if you plan on actually eating your dinner.
