Came for lunch today ~ there were 4 of us. Had 2 appetizers 4 lunches and 1 dessert. The food was delicious. The atmosphere is great. It is on the smaller side so I can only imagine dinner can get crowded but they take reservations. Our server was Katie she was great ~ very accommodating. We will definitely be back! read more

Walked in on a Saturday night and got two seats at the bar . Very small place but has a good vibe . The oysters were a bit disappointing .. seemed fresh, but weren't shucked properly, the meat was stuck to the shell , so most of it rips off , just an amateur move. Main course was pretty good . I had sol which was fresh, cooked well with asparagus and mashed on the side ..all good. Service was fine Value was ok Manager is a nice guy , very helpful read more

Service is good here and staff is accommodating but sometimes about the food quality didn't really impress me. The area is in a busy main street with many food options but chose this one because of the reviews. Came here for lunch and ordered the lobster bisque which I really liked but my main meal was the pulled pork pasta which was part of their lunch special and felt really underwhelmed when I tasted it. It was lacking flavor and taste. The restaurant has a nice outdoor area tho which is nice and refreshing. Maybe if i ordered something else I would have enjoyed the food read more

What an amazing place. We went here tonight for my daughter's birthday dinner and had such a good time. We sat in there outdoor space that was so beautiful. The food from the apps to the entrees everything was very delicious. Can't wait to go back. Our server Jack was great. On top of everything. read more

Another exceptional meal at Harbor House! And we were delighted that their outdoor seating is Pet Friendly, so we were able to dine with our recently rescued toy poodle mix Princess Sadie! And once again the food was amazing. We both enjoyed the lunch special Rigatoni with Pork Ragu, Delicious, with tons of shredded pork on a tasty sauce. She had the warm salad for an app, and I had the fried Ravioli, Crisp and delicious! Also, the 3 flavor Tartufo dessert which we split was a perfect with a cup of hot coffee. Service by Jeff was professional and friendly, Thank you Jeff!! We can't wait to return! read more

The food is excellent and the servers are very nice hard working people. The seafood plater with the red cream sauce is over the top for me. I have it almost every time I go in. read more

The atmosphere is intimate with dim lighting and classic decor. It's a small space yet it feels air and open somehow. The staff are pleasantly professional and the food is delicious. read more

Solid 4.5 for casual, cozy, friendly, dining in beautiful Downtown Northport, NY. Great friendly service, fantastic menu, and also a nice cozy bar. The menu has lots of seafood selections but also plenty of non-seafood options. We had the baked oyster app, FANTASTIC!!! Fresh legit farmed oysters prepared in a unique Rockefeller with bacon style. Very good, get this! We also had an asparagus app off their specials list. Asparagus wrapped in cheese and prosciutto and then lightly fried, really good and tasty. We also had their Lobster roll, wow good! Tons of delicious sweet tender cold water lobster served on a brioche roll, "open style" enough for 2 people! We also has seafood risotto, tons of tender squid, fresh delicious bay scallops (not refreshed frozen) and shrimp in perfectly cooked risotto! Soooooo good, The desert menu was a bit lacking and we had a Cream brûlée that was kind of runny, still sweet, but maybe the custard didnt set up yet, not sure, they got a minus 1/2 point for the desert. Still super review and great spot! Highly recommended! We will return! read more

Love this spot. Amazing mussels in a coconut sauce with fennel and entrees that never disappoint. Fish Sandwich and Fish Tacos are family favorites but they are all great. read more

Harbor House Northport - Great Hazy on tap. - American Near Me - Northport, New York

Harbor House in Northport NY on Main Street not far from the John Engeman theatre, has the best fish meals. It's one of the smaller venues and just as we came in the table for 2 was available then all seat's except for 2 at the bar , were taken. The door has an amazing wood carved and hand painted ship on it. Service is good. I look for this place when in town. It should be added to those - 10 best restaurants list. Check it out for yourself. read more

While spending a lovely day in Northport--walking the docks, admiring the boats, and strolling through the quaint town--we found ourselves looking for a new dinner spot. We're longtime fans of the Purple Elephant (a haven for dairy-free and vegan diners), but decided to branch out. After some casual menu browsing, Harbor House caught our eye and we were intrigued enough to give it a try. Atmosphere & Service: Harbor House has a cozy, welcoming interior with a warm neighborhood feel, and additional outdoor seating for those who prefer to dine al fresco. We opted to sit inside, where we were promptly greeted by the friendly and attentive staff. At check-in, I let the hostess know about a dairy allergy in our party. She immediately reassured us that the kitchen was flexible--most dishes could be modified, sauces swapped, mashed potatoes subbed out for salad, and more. That peace of mind sealed the deal. The Meal: We began with warm, fresh bread accompanied by three spreads: pesto, olive oil, and butter. All three were delicious, and the bread itself was soft and served warm--a great start. For appetizers, we chose: * Saffron Rice Balls (peppers, mozzarella, vodka sauce): A pleasant surprise! The texture was perfectly sticky and satisfying, and the flavor was rich without being heavy. * Warm Spinach Salad (spinach, walnuts, apples, pickled onions, goat cheese, bacon dressing): We subbed the dressing for a house vinaigrette and had the cheese on the side. The salad was well-balanced and refreshingly light. For entrees: * I had the Prosciutto-Wrapped Chicken Breast (stuffed with spinach and mozzarella, served with a cognac demi-glace, mashed potatoes, and Mediterranean snow peas). It was flavorful and filling--the demi-glace was tasty, and the snow peas were a nice, crisp touch. * My husband tried the Salmon Burger (with avocado, red onion, and a side salad), which was just "okay". * Our kids ordered the Seafood Penne Bowl (a huge bowl of penne pasta with shrimp, clams, and mussels in a tomato cream sauce) and the Kids' Burger, which was a basic burger. A minor hiccup occurred with the kids' burger--it was served without a bun. The server explained that the brioche bun contained dairy, but this wasn't mentioned when we ordered. While we appreciated the allergy consideration, it would have been helpful to have been informed earlier or offered an alternative bun. Eventually, they provided a piece of the pre-meal bread as a substitute, which resolved things, but the communication could have been smoother. Final Thoughts: The food was satisfying, portions were generous (we left with leftovers!), and the overall experience was positive. While Harbor House may not yet rival the allergy-friendliness of places like the Purple Elephant, it shows a genuine effort to accommodate dietary needs. With a bit more clarity in communication around allergens, it could easily become a regular go-to. read more

What a hidden gem! Really good! We went to another restaurant at first but there's no seat, so we decided to give this place a try. Very friendly staff, very accommodating with young kids. Food is extremely good! We had chicken fingers & pasta for the kids, omg chicken is so good! I wish I can order a portion for myself, lol. My husband got the burger, superb! I got the lobster roll, super good! Definitely recommend! Very nice inside too! read more

We appreciated much the staff for allowing us to come here earlier than our reserved time. It must be difficult to saved a spot for a party of 12 but they made it possible. The place is a small but the staff has big hearts. We enjoyed our time here. Though it took a while to get our order ready, we understand because they want to serve it all at the same time. The free bread in a basket comes with great dipping sauces. Each one has no complain for what they had. I basically enjoyed my soup, sandwich and drinks. Serving size of the meal is huge and can be shared by two. Too late to know. They did not mind us asking boxes for our leftovers. Looking for parking is a challenge but we made it here. We were surprised to know at the end that the birthday cake for our celebrant was on the house. That was so nice! Great staff and service. I recommend this place. read more

We arrived around 8pm today (Thursday) and the bar/restaurant was packed. We sat at a table and ordered a bottle of wine, a wedge salad, and two entrees (grouper & salmon). We drank, we ate, we chatted. Food was good, vibes were good, service (provided by our server at least) was great... The only reason I will never come back here is because of whoever the guy was in the teal button down shirt (maybe an owner/manager?). At around 9:20, we had already paid the check and were using the bathroom because we had long drives home. We were finishing our last (literal SIPS) of wine and all of the sudden the lights started turning off around us. My friend asked (as a joke - hoping for a joke back) "ah are you kicking us out?" To which the guy - whoever he was - said "yeah". No joke - completely serious - like he really just wanted to close and go home. Not friendly in any way and clearly not thankful for our business. Keep in mind again that it was 9:20. They're open until 10 and we were already done eating and about to leave... I would understand if we were "those people" who came in at 9:30 asking for dinner when the restaurant closes at 10...but that wasn't the case. I worked in the restaurant business for around 15 years and I would NEVER make someone feel that way. We just spent over $200 for dinner and drinks and that's the way you want us to leave here? Not okay. We will not be back! So rude.. Shoutout to our waiter who apologized to us for this other man's behavior!! read more

Decided to try a new spot around Northport and we were in the mood for seafood. Around Northport pier area, there are ample seafood restaurant choices but given the review, we decided to try. It was very easy to make a reservation over the phone for 2 ppl 7pm. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and we sat indoor. For appetizer, we got the mussels for $15 which was absolutely delish swimming in the creamy sauce. For entree, I got the salmon burger with fries $21. I will admit the salmon was very fresh and not breaded at all. It came in a nice brioche bun with ranch sauce on the side. The fries were freshly made. My wife got the filet grouper with snow peas and risotto for $42. One complaint is they should have remove the ends of the snow peas as it was quite stringy. The grouper was quite salty with the sauce and plus the capers which added to the saltiness. Food wise, it was a mixed reaction overall for the evening. We did enjoy the wait staff and their attentiveness. Based on last nite's visit, we will give this a strong 3 stars. read more

Great service and food. In the area for the Ryder Cup and found this place on Yelp. Small cozy place with tables and a small bar. We had a good clam appetizer and two dinners. The food and service were outstanding. Started with the baked clams which were superb, seasoned with garlic and lemon, maybe the best I've ever had. The special Burrata cheese salad was excellent. Fried Calamari was plentiful and tasty served with a spicy marinara . The filet mignon was about 12-14 ounces, cooked to order and served with a little melted blue cheese over a rich brown sauce. Big side of fresh spinach. Wonderful. Red Snapper special was off the charts fresh and perfectly prepared, lightly breaded and pan fried in a tasty sauce . We also had the the seafood penne bowl with generius seafood topping, large shrimp, clams and mussels. Pasta aldente. That too was outstanding. Carrot cake for dessert. Moist and delicious. A plus. Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Big smile too. Prices were fair for the experience we had. We will go back. read more

The first time for us visiting Northport, my wife and I stopped by the Harbor House for a delicious lunch. Cute spot right on Main Street in Northport. We picked this spot because they said they were able to accommodate 8 adults and 8 kids. Restaurant is small but we were all on one side so not an issue. Let me start with the positives. Food was amazing and fresh. Everything we ate was good. I ordered the fish tacos and they were amazing. The baked oysters were also very good. I'm still thinking about them! With that being said, I don't think this place might be for kids or maybe a lot of kids. We ordered the kids meals before we even ordered the apps which was mostly chicken tenders and fries. Their meal didn't come for about an hour and 15 mins. The kids were getting cranky since they were hungry. Also loved the location since afterwards we just walked to the ice cream cafe, and then the playground. I would come again but with a smaller group or no kids. read more

Stopped by for a drink so review is based on that, didn't try food but it looked good & people eating there were definitely enjoying it. The young lady serving at the bar was very friendly & I had quite an enjoyable conversation with people seated at the bar. Had dinner here on a Friday night with no reservations, my husband and I were with our dog so we needed to be seated outside and there was no wait thankfully. They had a cute little outdoor alley seating. It's very private too! I had the ahi tuna with mashed potatoes which was ok and my husband had the burger which was also good and we had the creme brûlée to finish which was the best part of our meal paired with the Sauvignon blanc! They charge 3.50% more on card if you don't pay with cash! read more

Been here multiple times. Food has always been good. Ordered to go for our anniversary last night, and wish we never did. Apparently they don't cook their seafood at this restaurant. Ordered the risotto. Risotto itself was hot. All the seafood was completely frozen through the middle. Makes you think. Obviously they don't know how to cook food at this establishment. Went to the ER last night with food poisoning. I guess the only takeaway is that this will be an anniversary we'll never forget. Places like this should not exist read more

Came here on a whim after being in the area and reading many positive reviews on here. We were pretty disappointed by every aspect. Service was pretty bad, there were two tables seated...us and one other, so wasn't an issue of being overwhelmed. Every request (like water) felt like you were bothering the waitress. The food was very mediocre at best. -Calamari: 2/5- first few pieces were alright but beyond that we both kind of lost our appetite for it. Fishier than it should've been and many pieces had these super hard tendons that you couldn't bite through. -Grilled Chicken Panini: 2/5-another menu item we figured we couldn't go with but we were wrong...again. Chicken was super thin and many of the pieces were rubbery. The biggest let down was that the "paninis" came on a pita wrap. The fries were the best part and they were essentially McDonald's fries with a little Cajun on them. Overall, we were pretty let down with the overall experience and wouldn't come back here again read more

The service from the moment we walked in without a reservation was amazing. They accommodated us at the bar. We just ordered entrees and I had the special branzino with lobster risotto and it was absolutely amazing. It was fresh and full of flavor. The portion of the brazino was also bigger than expected. I can't wait to make a reservation and go back read more

Harbor House Northport was a destination for a double date dinner a little while ago, and comes highly recommended by a bunch of people we've spoken with, but truthfully, I have no idea what the hype is about. This place is the definition of strictly average, everything was just alright, nothing stood out, nothing was very special, it was just alright. It's a small restaurant so definitely need a reservation to avoid waiting. We got a table right by the window in a little nook which was a nice spot, and we ordered a variety of dishes. All of them were forgettable, and the only thing I remember all of us saying as we left was, that place was just alright, and for future we'd go back to places like Skippers or Bistro 45 or Wine Bar which were much better for us. If you want an average and regular dinner, this is it. read more

Had a horrible dining experience. The tomato burrata special billed as having ripe tomato's had nothing of the sort. Tomato's were like cardboard, burrata mediocre at best served over wilted greens. My penne with lobster and clams had overcooked tough rubbery lobster (all claw meet) and clams that had been sitting under a heat lamp. My wife's sole was a bit better but a bit tough and too lemony. The bread was lumpy and tasteless . To top it all off, the entrees arrived 45 minutes after the first course. Avoid at all costs!! read more

Went for a birthday lunch with hubby. Place is very small but so quaint. We had the muscles, the baked oysters, fish tacos. All three dishes were absolutely amazing. Still licking our fingers. Pineapple mojitos were so yummy. Staff was helpful, kind and always knew when to come around to ask if we needed anything. Wish we weren't so stuff , so we can order dessert.. next... We hosted a baby shower for our daughter-in-law Coco at Harbor House this past Saturday. I can't say enough amazing things about the wonderful and accommodating owner, Kevin, and how delicious the food was--from appetizers, to salads, to the main courses, and to the desserts! Everything was prepared perfectly and presented beautifully to our shower guests. We had the restaurant to ourselves, and everyone that works there was so so helpful and nice! Many of my guests complimented how friendly everyone was who worked the shower that day. I have received so many compliments on how terrific this restaurant is to host an event or to just go for lunch or dinner! Thank you for everything, Kevin! Marilyn Curry read more

Our 1st visit to Harbor House in Northport. We were happy that we found parking so quickly. It's a quaint restaurant on Main Street which we made reservations for ahead of time. When we arrived the hostess wanted to sit us at a huge round table that could fit 6. We told her we were interested in that family table it was right next to the entrance and that the door opens & closes and it 100 degrees outside. She wasn't very accommodating about trying to sit us at 5:30pm when they had at least 4-5 other available table for 4 but she eventually did. Waiter was great. We order cocktails & wine which were perfect. Food was delicious. We had a Caesar salad with a little crabmeat & avocado which was a little to dry but it had great flavor. The Salmon dinner was a hit & prepared different than all the rest. I highly recommend my flounder franchise with asparagus & delicious mashed potatoes. The fettuccine with clams & lobster was also delicious. We unfortunately couldn't stay for dessert because it was definitely to hot for us especially when we told them but it's okay. We will definitely be back because your food is delicious. read more
