We have always found the sandwiches here to be of good quality . The macaroni salad, cole slaw and potato salad are very flavorful and taste homemade . I moved to this town 22 years ago but I've been going to this deli for close to 40 years. Yup! It's been around that long. And even people I have run into that have moved away when they come through town always stop in to get food from here. The food is fresh, delicious. Great sandwiches. Breakfast & Lunch always hits the mark. But in my opinion hands-down the best carrot cake in a 50 mile radius. And I love the fact that they give you a hunk of Carrot Cake. Most of the time they are good. They do make a lot of mistakes. I come here a lot and 1 out of 4 or 1 out of 5 orders are always incorrect. When they do get it corrects it's amazing but they make a lot of mistakes with simple orders. Just check your order before you leave. We have lived in lindenhurst for 19 years and were very happy to find an old school deli at Jessens. From day 1 the Owner has been super friendly but as of late his staff has been lacking in that department. On the weekends my family of 5 orders sandwiches/hero's and cold cuts for the week and the quality has always been good. Between our weekend trips and my husband stopping in during the week for breakfast, Monthly we spend over 500.00 at this establishment. My complaint is the customer service for certain employees. Today I had the displeasure of dealing with a gentleman (short/bald) that gave me an attitude for no reason. I went in around 1:30 (Sunday) and ordered my usual and you would think I insulted his mother with the attitude he gave me. If he doesn't like working the busy shifts he shouldn't work weekends. Jessens is DELICIOUS. I had it a few months back and my fiancé and I will never go to another place. The egg sandwich is not so greasy, which I love. The food is great and we will come back to try new things. The staff is great and I love that it's close to my house. I had also the hero's and I am in love with them. They aren't overbearing with the sauces they put on and the hero's aren't skimpy. At least they aren't skimpy to me. I am always full when eating them, and will be full for a few hours. Usually I'm hungry after eating a hero, but this place nails it. The inside is great. When you walk in, the menu for the hero's are to the right and so are the deli food. There is this divider in the middle, which isn't big. It's a nice size where people have enough space on either side to have their own personal space. On the divider is little grab and go foods, in case you're in a rush which is awesome. On the other side of the divider there are the drinks that are almost the whole size of the deli. Two thumbs up, and will be coming back more to try other hero's there. It is hidden and kind of hard to get to at first, but once you remember where it is it's not so bad read more

Tale of the tape: Potato Salad: I have found THE local place for the best potato salad! With just the right amount of vinegar and mayonnaise, this is easily one of the best of its kind! German Potato Salad: decent, but could have a slight bit more of a vinegar taste. Still good, though. Fried Chicken Salad: never seen anything like this before, anywhere. Chunks of breaded chicken cutlet with ranch dressing mixed perfectly with chopped lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese. Expensive at over $6 for a half pound, but oh man is it good . . . I usually text in my order since I can't call when I am at work. This is the third time I've gone there and told them my order and they "never saw it". If you're going to advertise text in your order I expect my order to be done when I get there. I hope they start training the workers to check the texting system bc it's not right that I have to wait considering I text in my order 20 minutes before I have to pick it up just to wait another 15-20 for them to actually make it since they "never saw" the order. read more

I have been going to Jessens for 30+ years, when the original owner was there, I recently ordered a sandwich on a roll from there from Rob, who I'm not sure if he's the owner or an employee, the roll was stale, I could tell the roll was older than a day old, when I called and spoke to Mike, he apologized and said when I come in just let them know and he would make another sandwich at no charge. When I came in the next time and told them what happened Rob said , I made that sandwich and Rob got nasty and basically accused me of lying he said they never use rolls that were not fresh, which is definitely not true, so over one sandwich and the way he treated me they lost a loyal customer and about ten of my friends and family, because of Robs nasty reply, I would have overlooked the stale roll, but his nasty attitude was inexcusable.
