Stopped in at this restaurant to enjoy Chinese food seeing how it was the last episode of The Big Bang Theory. I ordered steamed dumplings, Kung poa chicken and a dragon roll special. The steam dumplings were just OK, the pork filling had an over seasoning taste and the dipping sauce was unusual compared to the other sauces that come with dumplings. The Kung poa chicken wasn't very good. The sauce was a red sauce and it was a sweat sauce not like anything I've had before. The rice was very soggy and obviously had been sitting around a pool for a while. Based on my experience I probably will not return to this restaurant as it is not the traditional Chinese restaurants that I'm use too. The sushi was not for myself so I cant comment on the taste. They have so many great vegetarian options. I've gotten the kung pao tofu several times and it's amazing. The sauce is rich and every bite of the tofu is heavenly. The peanuts add a great texture to the overall dish. I have also tried the spicy penang tofu which is spectacular. It is really hard for me to find a restaurant that has a lot of different vegetarian options to choose from. Over the decades, we've come to realize that one can tell how good (or not) a restaurant is or could be according to the quality of the basic cultural appetizers offered on the menu, if the small plate fare are not done well, the entrees will not be done well nor will typically any other menu offering. Due to proper COVID exposure avoidance we ordered take-out food; a sampling from the dinner menu to make a basic determination if we'll return. We ordered on-line at the beginning of dinner service during a Thursday. The food was prepare in the stated time and was packaged neatly. We ordered hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, chicken corn chowder, fried spring rolls, lettuce wraps, and pan-fried dumplings. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour, and, the egg drop soup and chicken corn chowder were also fairly insipid. The fried spring rolls were soggy and lacked any specific taste. The lettuce wraps we're good, the bib lettuce was fresh and the ground chicken filling was fairly tasty. The pan-fried dumplings were undercooked with only a meager suggestion of a light tan fried bottom (obviously Mister Maillard had other engagements and could not stay longer) but had some flavor with the added immersion in the pedestrian dumpling sauce. All told, the food was not very tasty as all dishes relied heavily upon its companion sauce or other condiment to provide some basic flavor. We'll keep looking for better Chinese food in the community. read more

This place is a hidden gem. What a delicious place to get a quick bite of Chinese food. I ordered the general so chicken. It was flavored just right. It was not overly sweet and not overly salty. It was just the right amount of sweet and tangy. The layout of the carryout is interesting for a Chinese take-out joint. It is very similar to a noddles and company layout. You first place your order and then they give you a number to display on the table that you decide to sit at. Then the employees come around and give you your food. Note- They also sell sushi. As someone who has eaten at many Chinese restaurants, this place is great for a quick bite to eat. It's not the best Chinese food you will ever have, but the flavors are clean, the ingredients are fresh, and the employees are very nice. I tend to always get the spicy California and spicy tuna roll. The fish is fresh and if you are wreary of ordering sushi from this place, you can ask the sushi chef which fish is the most fresh. I have done this several times and always left with a happy belly. The Sesame Chicken is super crispy and is made with all chicken!!! No shady fillers. The general tso is the same thing just without the seeds. Chicken and broccoli, the salad with asian dressing, cashew chicken, all are delicious. Love the hot and sour soup. My mom's fave is the mapo tofu. Leave your bowls and such at the table, and someone will kindly pick them up, so a small tip would be appropriate, if you are feeling generous! It was good, needed a little bit of salt, if I didn't have any soy sauce I would have probably been disappointed because it was a little salt less. The sushi tasted decent. So I have lived here for 2 years and haven't eaten sushi here before tonight. Now I'm not a sushi purist but this place is very underrated. I had two rolls, a Ryan Roll and Sex in the City and both were great. Fish was fresh and the rolls were meticulously put together. Both rolls were delicious. I will be watering here again. The one thing I would recommend, would be enough wasabi for two rolls. If there was more I would have given 5 stars. read more

The staff is rude and unapologetic for any mistakes they make, which include overcharging for items (delivery) and underdelivering on items included in an order (getting a shrimp fried rice with 2 shrimp in it doesn't count as fulfilling that order). Well....I figured since I've been ordering Chinese from this place for quite some time, that I figured it was finally time to give my review on this place. Now with all that being said, the verdict is in and I personally feel like Asian Spice Cafe is one of the better Chinese food places I've ordered from in the northern VA . So here are some of the things that I believe separates them from some of the other Chinese food spots: 1.) The food is made to order AND the food is freaking delicious! Also it seems they are pretty consistent with delivering the same tasting food. 2.) The size is bigger than most of the other places. So there is actually a reasonable amout of tables to sit down and eat assuming they aren't already packed with customers. 3.) They sale and make sushi fresh to order. And they have a guy at a station where you can watch him make the sushi if you so choose (I have never tasted the sushi so aI cannot vouch for it). 4.) The place is kept pretty clean and the staff is nice. 5.) Last but not least if you decide to eat there, the cashier provides you with a number and another staff member brings your order to tour table. I mean who doesn't like being served. 6.) The lunch soecial portions. So not only is the lunch special price reasonable but it seems to me they give you dinner size portions for lunch the lunch special items. I am absolutely a fan of Asian Spice Cafe. They seem to make everything I like pretty darn good and consistent. Surprisingly good little Chinese place in the Harris Teeter shopping center in Brambleton. I get the Singapore noodles and it is outstanding. And I try that dish everywhere so I'm pretty discerning. The hot and sour soup is pretty good for little take out cafe and the rest of the dishes like sesame chicken and the fried rice is pretty solid. It's not Yens but it's pretty good for a takeout or a quick bite. They have a loyalty card as well and be sure to ask for it. read more

This place is consistently good every time I visit. Way better than Pei-Wei which can fluctuate between locations and chefs, and definitely on par with PF Changs, but without the over-inflated pricing. My kids love the mongolian beef and happy with anything they make with chicken and veggies. I guess you could categorize them as fast casual, but the quality of the food is on par with all full-service restaurants - without the wait staff or the 20% tip. I drove up to this place on a Wednesday night, around 8 pm. There were a couple of other patrons already in the restaurant. Like the other reviewers have said before me, you go up to the counter, order your food and then wait. I ordered their Chicken with Cashew Nuts and an order of their Avocado Rolls (which I completely adore). Took about 10 minutes for it come out (which the lady at the front had said would take that long) and then I was on my way. (FYI: my total was $13.55) Again, I got this for takeout so maybe my review isn't all that viable to someone who is going there to eat, but I can say this: I've had much better food. The sushi rolls were not fresh...edible yes, but not really fresh. The chicken dish lacked any real taste. I had to pour soy sauce into the dish, just to give it some kind of flavor. They give you a lot of food, and I felt bad throwing half of it away, but it just wasn't good. read more

I am obsessed with chinese food, it's my absolute favorite. This place gets 5 stars, hands down! It is definitely the best chinese restaurant in the Ashburn area. It's a mix between a sit-down and a carry out atmosphere. Either way, you go up to the counter, order your food, and you can either take it with you or eat there. The food is ALWAYS really good. My personal favorites-- combination lo mein and chicken and brocolli. Everything I've had from this restaurant is delicious. The people that work there are really nice too. My family will often come in later at night, and they definitely don't try to rush you out or anything. This is my number one choice in chinese food if I feel like grabbing it quickly. It's like they put sugar in everything to make it taste ok to hide that fact that it really isn't good at all. The curry is bland and didn't have much flavor. The noodles are too sweet.
