Unassuming coffee shop in a small strip mall, it would be very easy to miss if you weren't looking for it. I stopped by on a cold and snowy Sunday morning, and there were a handful of people sitting in the plentiful seating. I just had the gingerbread latte, which was warm and tasty, but I did see they had a number of pastries available as well. Overall, a good option if you're in the area and want to try something new.
Stopped by Ascend when needing some time to kill in the area. I was impressed with the size of the inside, several different seating options. Unassuming ordering counter, but very friendly staff. I got a cold brew coffee and a ham and cheese croissant. All bakery items are made in house! The coffee was pretty good, but the real winner was the ham and cheese croissant -- it was delicious.
I have always stopped by this area during my drive and didn't realize there was a coffee shop nearby. I decided to try the coffee and matcha as well. Service was really good and the staff was nice. There's plenty of seating and it's really cute and cozy inside. I got the latte and the matcha, coffee was good!
Stopped in here on my way home and grabbed a iced cherry almond latte with almond milk from their seasonal menu. It was good, service was friendly and fast, and the space was cozy and clean. I didn't stay, but took my drink to go, but could see myself coming back for work or a meet up.
I really enjoy Ascend Coffee! They have a great aesthetic. Lots of plants, nice brown colors, plenty of natural light. There's a variety of seating options, though several times when I'd visit, it would be hard to find a spot! This place gets busy. But it's easy to see why as it's comfortable for working or meeting a friend. I like to order their gluten free breakfast bars and a hot tea. I wrote here many times last year and look forward to more visits!
This, husband-wife team, bro on coffee and sister on pastries, is killing it! The evidence of owner presence is through the roof. Space is always clean, the bathrooms are impeccable, customer service, product, knowledge, product quality... It's everything you would expect from continuous owner presence. And you haven't tried an almond croissant until you've had theirs. I've owned a third wave coffee shop and would be proud of this one if it were mine.
SO close to my house and my normal Costco route - yet I am late to the game on trying this place out. I am SO GLAD we finally did! Joined my coffee loving pals here one early weekday morning and snagged the best seats in the house (a couch!). It was really quiet and comfy for about the first hour or so and then it got packed with patrons (yay! for them) - mostly if not all men - appearing to be there for business and / or casually reading alone - which was interesting to our group. We joked that we should tell our single girlfriends about this place. ha! The space is clean and welcoming, and the music was eclectic but nice. So back to the coffee - YUM. Menu was simple- on the wall with the usual offerings as well as a little easel on the counter offering some seasonal brews. I opted for the brown sugar cinnamon latte with oat milk - and it was so perfect. They did offer some baked goods that looked tasty - but I will have to get one next time. Prices were consistent with locally owned coffee shops and reasonable. Just one barista working when we went. Our group were all satisfied with their coffees and I took an americano home to the hubs - which he loved. Said it beat Starbys by a mile. Overall - will return! I won't wait so long next time.
Hello Fellow Yelpers Today, I allowed myself a good 30 minutes to do a little midday R&R at Ascend Coffee. This was my second time visiting this cozy coffee shop and I ordered myself a Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte with Almond Milk Substitute. There were GF/DF breakfast squares on display, as well, so I added that to my $10 order. Ordering in person is quick and easy. The menu is pretty straightforward. I am not a coffee drinker but on occasion I can really use the pick-me-up. I like the seating arrangement in this open concept space. They have several couches, lounge seating, and a few little nooks (or I like to call them *cubbies*) with bench seating in the shape of your own personal cube. I had no trouble with setting up my things in my little cube, and there are charging outlets inside for your device. I recommend using a napkin or ask for a small plate for your food items to be laid on the bench that can cross-function as a low tabletop. Customers can clean up after themselves and any soiled dishes can be returned underneath their ice water station. I like that they use glassware for dining in. I will mention that today there were a good number of people already inside when I walked in at about 12:30 PM. There is semi-soft music playing overhead, but I noticed the conversations and talking more than that. Depending on your noise preferences, I would recommend wearing headphones (or airpods) to block out ambient sounds. The talking and chatter may be a distraction if you are coming in at a busier time and need to focus or study in "silence." But this is nothing unusual for a local coffee shop that is bustling. Today, I read another two chapters in one of my favorite Emily Henry books, 'Funny Story' and took my time savoring my gluten free, dairy free breakfast bar with my hot almond milk latte. This was a great choice of space to stay warm in this frigid weather. Easy going, casual, and cozy.
This is such a cute coffee shop in Castleton! It is a busy place and it gets loud due to the music and everyone talking, so it's not the ideal place for a study session. I highly recommend the hazelnut latte but would pass on getting the matcha again. The matcha tasted watered-down. They also have pastries but have not had the chance to try them yet. There are lots of seats, good lighting, affordable prices, very nice staff, and free parking! Highly recommend checking this place out!
Ascend is a sweet little local coffee shop and work space that makes its own coffee syrups, pastries and chai. They are located in a strip mall on the north side of Castleton Mall. The space is upscale and comfortable with a mix of tables and other comfy seating. There is an interesting plant wall on one side of the dining room. When I stopped by yesterday, there were a couple of people working and several groups socializing. The clerks are super friendly and will explain the pastry options which are in a case. When I was there, they offered scones, various croissants, breakfast bars and I think I saw a few cookies - all fresh made. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant. The croissants are made fresh daily and melt in your mouth. It was one of the best croissants I've had in Indy. The cheese was hot and melted. On Saturdays, they have live music. They also will cater their pastries. I recommend and will return.
I got a Chai on my travels home. It was really good. If I lived nearby, I would be a regular. The shop is spacious with a variety of seating and I'd love getting work done here. Service was great and kind.
Came to Ascend for a business meeting. Really enjoyed the environment of others working and meeting. The service and suggestions were great. The scone and latter (maple seasonal latte) were great! Only gave a 4/5 because the area we sat seemed to have someone's pet hair, not the establishments fault, but maybe a wipe down as patrons leave.

Ascend does community and coffee right! The atmosphere is so beautiful and the seating is comfortable. It seems they have tons of regulars and the staff were super knowledgeable and friendly! They chatted with me for quite a while and I felt like a friend when I left! Plus the coffee was incredible and I love when they use eclectic mugs! read more
Finally got around to check this place out and I loved it! There is plenty of seating and parking! My latte was great and it was filled to the rim, and my orange scone was the best I've had! Super nice employees and relaxing environment. I I enjoyed studying there for a few hours. They have a lot of baked items and drinks on their menu. Looking forward to going back to check more out. read more
We came here for a pick me up before going to Castleton Mall. It is easy to find, located in a strip that has a parking lot in front. Walking in, I noticed the ambiance and seating. I love the plants! I liked that they had different kinds of seating options. Looks like a nice place to come for a study or gather with friends. I noticed in the middle table kids were playing a game of cards, so it is kid friendly. It wasn't busy when we came in, so we were greeted and attended to quickly. I only saw a small menu on the side wall of the order counter and seasonal drinks written on a chalkboard sign on the order counter. I told the worker that it was our first time here and if she had any suggestions, but she didn't offer any. I was trying to look up drinks on Yelp, but a line started to form behind me so I just ordered a Cortado (expresso and steamed milk --I got oat--) and my hubby got a iced Cuban. It came out to less than 10$ which is less than Starbucks. Nothing too special about the Cortado, but the Cuban was pretty tasty. Not sure if they just have a basic menu with seasonal options or what...I think my experience would have been better if I was informed about that. Being a visual person, I wish they had some pictures of what the drinks look like. read more

This is by far my favorite coffee shop in the city! It is a hidden gem that is well worth going out of the way for. The vibe is cozy and relaxing as well as the people who work there. They are always so kind and inviting. Their homemade syrups and pastries are unmatched by anything else I've tried at other coffee shops in the city so far. I cannot go there without getting a savory scone. It is way too good to pass up. This is a great place if you need a space to work, collaborate, or just hang out with friends. There are plenty of group and individual spaces as well as outlets throughout the cafe. I found this place on a whim last year and am so glad it exists. It is a wonderful place to come time and time again. read more
I love this coffee shop, and I know Indy has tons of options... but this location in Castleton is perfect!! I've been here a few times now, and the service is always friendly!! I usually keep it simple, and order a vanilla latte; which is delicious! The baked goods always look amazing, but I haven't tried them yet. Ascend is a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

A great newer coffee option, and the closest to my house of the new spots to open up in the last ~60 months. (Why is the Allisonville/62nd area such a dead zone for local coffee? I digress.) I've been in a ton of times since they opened and the staff is always so warm and welcoming. The specialty drinks are good, and I love that they offer standard pastries AND a gluten free/dairy free option. (My little dairy free heart is always happy to see that.) And no matter how busy they are, the drinks come quickly. The ambiance is calm, with warm lighting and people working or chatting quietly. It's the kind of spot you'd love to read a book at while it rains outside. read more

The drinks and atmosphere are pleasing to the eye here! They are a newer coffee shop located in the Castleton area of Indianapolis. They roast their beans in-house and offer espresso, drip coffee, cold brew, and lattes. They also have a selection of teas, smoothies, and pastries. The atmosphere at Ascend Coffee is relaxed and inviting. The shop is decorated in a modern style, with plenty of natural light and seating. The service at Ascend Coffee is friendly and efficient. The baristas are knowledgeable about the coffee and happy to make recommendations. I ordered a latte and cortado - the latte was delicious, had a perfectly smooth texture, and I could taste the espresso OVER the sweetness (a real latte). The latte art is always a plus! And I appreciated that they had ice water available for customers to help themselves to. read more

Holy cow they've got an incredible savory scone. There was a coffee shop in my college town that made the most amazing scones. When I moved back to Indy postgrad, I was searching for a place that made scones just as good (as silly as that is), and I've finally found that place here!! It's a sweet reminder to me that there's a God who loves me and cares about me, even in the smallest details! read more

Environment is very invited. Had a real laid back atmosphere. Service was top notch. Was waited on immediately and by the time I was done checking out my drink was ready within a few seconds. read more
Firstly, the vibes in this place are super cool; they are relaxed but nice at the same time. I enjoy drinking coffee here. Secondly, the service was phenomenal; the staff was super knowledgeable about their product and were happy to tell us more about it. I particularly enjoyed the fact that they make their own syrups as it seems that most coffee shops just buy the same stuff off the shelf. Now to the coffee. I ordered the honey cardamom latte, and I was pleasantly surprised with the mixture of flavors as well as the sweetness level. Most lattes with honey that I've had have been pretty sweet, and I enjoy a less sweet latte. This latte was perfectly balanced; I don't know how they got the honey flavor without a large amount of sweetness, but they did. I also enjoyed the prominence of the cardamom flavor. It blended well with the coffee in the latte. If you haven't tried Ascend Coffee, it's definitely worth a visit the next time you're on your way to Costco! read more

Our Indy Coffee club had an event at Ascend Coffee and it was a great time. The ambiance was very nice and unique. The booths were very comfortable and stylish. I went to the counter and ordered a Peach Tea. The staff were very friendly and professional. I did notice they had an Orange Vanilla latte and a Mint Lavender latte, which sounded very interesting and delicious. They also sold a variety of baked goods and pastries. I did get a breakfast bar that they sold, and it was wonderful! I noticed the staff did not call out the order when it was ready, and I had to go up to the counter to confirm the Peach Tea. They might want to consider taking people's names with their order and writing it on the cup like other coffee places do, so they can keep track of the order and call out people's names when the order is ready. Someone could have walked off with my Peach Tea and I would have never known it. Other than that, my peach tea was wonderful and tasted fantastic!! Everyone else was very happy with their coffee as well. The Mint Lavender latte did get rave reviews. Ascend Coffee offers complimentary water as well to its patrons, which is a very nice touch. This is a great place to hangout and unwind with friends over coffee. You can also work here and get some work done with their complimentary Wi-Fi as well. It is a great atmosphere with good vibes, and I would definitely bring my friends here for coffee and conversation. Ascend Coffee is a great coffeehouse! Check it out! read more

My sister found this coffee shop while looking for one to go today. I think it's relatively new since I don't recall there being a coffee shop near Castleton mall. I had the Lavendar Oatmilk Latte and it was good - not too sweet and I liked how strong the taste of the espresso was. The decor is cute and everything is very clean. They don't have a lot on the menu, but they do have seasonal drinks. There are some pastries and I had the Orange Glazed Scone and they have 50% Yesterday's Pastries. The plants on the wall are real and there are several seating areas. For non-dairy milk, they only have almond and oatmilk, and among the syrups, they did not have caramel (which is what my sister usually gets). Overall, I'd be back if I'm in the area. read more

I stumbled upon Ascend while in a neighborhood I don't frequent. They are tucked away in a strip mall in the Castleton area. The inside is decorated simply with lots of seating- tables, high tops, benches, and a few couches. There is greenery everywhere, which made my heart happy. The menu is pretty standard for a coffee shop, but they offer seasonal drinks and pastries. It was a cold fall day, so I did what any millennial would do in the beginning of October. I ordered a pumpkin muffin and a vanilla maple latte. Both were perfect for the weather. The vanilla maple latte was flavorful and not too sweet and the pumpkin muffin was super moist . They had every type of milk you could possibly want which is important to those of us with a lactose intolerance. The staff was super helpful and very welcoming. One thing to add they share a parking lot with a pretty big church. I went on a Sunday morning and parking was almost impossible but I don't see this being an issue other than Sunday mornings. read more

Ascend Coffee in Castleton is a hidden gem that needs to be on your radar. As a former Californian, moving here I have tried a lot of coffee shops in Indianapolis, but Ascend Coffee easily makes my top three favorites list. What really impressed me was the quality of the coffee and the expertise of the staff. Kaleb, one of the baristas, hooked me up with an expertly crafted coffee that hit all the right notes. But what really stood out to me was the friendly service. Faith, another barista, was also incredibly kind and made me feel right at home. As a minority, I also appreciated feeling comfortable and welcome in the space. If you're a coffee lover looking for a unique and exceptional experience, then Ascension Coffee is the spot for you. Trust me, you won't regret giving it a try! read more
Amazing! Warm and summer glow up atmosphere that's too easy to drop down for hours, accommodating seating and both solo and group tables, this is a well thought out cherry bean, yes coffee is a fruit, roasted house! I only tried a seasonal mint lavender latte with almond milk but immediately started talking myself into coming back for the others. It is a friendly environment where over half the staff seemed to know everyone coming in. I was thankful to find this super easy location offering plenty of parking. Good rewards program too, tap to pay, and the pastries and small treats looked perfect to pair with a drink. There are few spots in the whole Indy area like this, free of the typical smug espresso class, and rewarding the time spent with a superb soundtrack. I wish I'd gotten my baristas name, he was great! I'm not any sort of java judge or even aspiring coffee connoisseur but I've sampled plenty between Ohio to California to compare. This roast was balanced against the floral lavender and warm minty notes, a bit bitter and darker which I enjoy or the latte is often sugar flavored rather than flavored! Looks like they craft their own syrups in house which is a huge standard of quality, can't wait to come back! read more

I had extra time between appointments while in Castleton so I looked up coffee shops in the area & Ascend popped up. I hadn't heard of this one before & Reviews were great so thought I'd stop by. So glad I did! I'm a sucker for lavender anything so I had to try the Lavender Mint latte & it was perfect.....not too sweet & coffee was balanced. Another plus is that they offer gluten free snack options. I will only go to local coffee shops and I'm happy to add this to my list of Go To's read more
