Alright let's just start with the fact they claim best breakfast in town and their menu says the best biscuits and gravy. When you say these things you better not serve bacon fat and flour gravy along with legitimate pillsbury dough biscuits. They brought store bought out of the tube biscuits. Hard and dry! It even had the yellow butter stains in the dough from the fake butter flavor. Also microwave bacon. You guys are a joke. Kitchen manager should be fired or general manager, whoever is in charge of the food program. Your costs are high, your product sucks, and your customers pay for it. read more

I've lived down the street from here my entire life, but only recently visited for the first time. The service was fast and the food was delicious. It's pretty small inside and the parking looks like it could get frustrating (since it's in an alley way and RIGHT next to a Starbucks), but I've never had a problem. They have a drive-thru open 6am to 2pm and the best breakfast ever especially their O'Brien potatoes.

Jeesh where do I start? Pricing? Gosh damn y'all greedy $13.00 for a breakfast burrito and a coffee! Burrito looked like a a half of a burrito from any where else with two added items. 2.97 for cup of coffee in a soda cup with a straw lid for a soda. I've had better coffee at my sons popwarner games for 1.00. Your uncooked potatoes should be trashed not eaten. That salsa you serve that is 3 days old be ashamed to give that away. I've been coming here for almost 10yrs & I absolutely LOVE it! But today unfortunately just rubbed me the wrong way.. I told my Bf I wanted Arthur's for breakfast but since i was out running errands early morning I had told him to call & ask what time they closed.. he called & a lady answered & told. him they close at 2:30, nothing more or nothing less was said.. as my Bf was driving to Arthur's, he wanted to call to place an order so he can just pay & pick up.. he made his first call at 2pm...went straight to voicemail...he calls again & again but all the calls went straight to voicemail.. Since there was still time left before 2:30, he decides to drive there (he figured is was busy so he figured it'd be better off ordering there instead).. he gets to the drive thru speaker at 2:15.. no one answers.. he saw that there was people still in there, so he waited... he decides to call them again at 2:20 & finally the call goes through & a man answered, before my boyfriend can say anything the man goes saying: "we're closed!" My Bf : "I called earlier & you guys told me at 2:30" The man: "well.. we're closed!" *hangs up* First, I get it some restaurants closed their kitchen an hour or 30mins before they close but the lady FAILED to state that to my Bf when he first called.. & if that was the case, you guys should definitely put CLOSE at 2pm. Second, the man didn't have to be rude about being closed! I've always came here with my family and I decided to go today. Upon paying for my phone order they kept my food on the floor, yes it was in a bag but it was still on the floor. I noticed a cook using his bare hands to put a burrito together and the use a dirty towel to clean his knife. This place deserves NO STARS! Worst customer service ever. They had the audacity to mistreat and curse at my Mom when the server messed up on her order. What makes it worse is that because my mom doesn't speak English they used this language barrier to their advantage. Clearly they don't care about their customers. Arthur's Restaurant on Lakewood Blvd in Downey, California. I was walking the Stonewood Mall in the morning for some exercise. That's when I got invited for breakfast at Arthur's Restaurant. When I rolled up, I couldn't find any parking at all. Parking is very limited here, we couldn't find any open space. So I had to park around the block in a residential neighborhood. When we walked in ,the place was jammed packed with people, luckily there was a table for two. Arthur's is fairly small. Probably fits maybe around 20 or 30 people. The service was very good and the cook was really nice to us. She ordered French toast, eggs and bacon. I ordered biscuits and gravy with sausage. For our drinks, I got coffee and she picked their orange juice. I'll say this their orange juice is very good. My biscuits and gravy was not bad and the sausage was okay. She liked her breakfast a lot, it was a lot of food for her and she ended taking half it home. Overall, I actually had a wonderful time here. I kinda got lost in thought and enjoyed my time with the kind soul who invited me here on that day. So yeah I'll definitely comeback because I had a beautiful moment here. Arthur's breakfast & brunch spot with a drive-thru; I love it! Arthur's is located off of Lakewood Blvd. and Telegraph Road. It has a small parking lot. It is really tiny with like 10 parking spots. A plus is it has a drive-thru. I think it is cool to be able to use the drive-thru and order some biscuits & gravy. Once inside it is a small little restaurant with as many as 10 booths and 5 seats at the counter. The feel I received was warm, friendly, and welcome. It was not busy this morning when I arrived but patrons began filling the place during my visit. They offer a quick breakfast menu and a regular menu. The biscuits & gravy are really good. I especially like the biscuits which were fluffy. I also liked the OJ which tasted like they fresh squeezed it. I will definitely return. It's a great breakfast spot. Haven't been here in years but thanks to VD, I decided to give it another go before I write a review. Glad that I did. Not busy on a Tuesday morning. Parking is usually packed but I saw a car leave just as I was going in. Perfect. If you go in on the weekends, go towards the west side of Starbucks and just street park. Sat in the bar where I found myself in the middle of 2 regular's convo about FIFA. Everyone seemed to know everybody else in there that day. Maybe when I retire I'll find one breakfast place I'll keep going till they get tired of me. I got the... French Toast plate with bacon. Slathered strawberry jelly on top of the toast, some eggs and nom, nom, nom. I can't remember what I had the last time but I was this time around. Well came here expecting grandeur but left wanting. Ive read the reviews on Yelp about this place, and I was hoping this place would be good. But didn't really give me any kind of wow factor. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs, which came with home fries and biscuits. The chicken fried steak was actually made fresh, which was a plus, but was lacking in taste.. The home fries were good. the biscuits were good. Not sure if they were home made, since they tasted like the store bought Grands Biscuits, which are really good. So I've lived in Pico Rivera all my 27 years of life and have never ate at this local hot spot. I popped my cherry this morning and let me say... I've had better! This place is very small maybe 12 booths with a breakfast bar. It feels kind of dirty. I Really didn't want to touch the condiments that are left on the table. They look like they've been there all day... including the jams, yuck! My boyfriend and I ordered drinks first. Our waitress was nice, I think her name was Liz. We ordered their famous O.J. which was absolutely the best O.J. I've EVER had! Down fall: its $3.99 a glass obviously no refills. I ordered biscuits and gravy which only came with 3 biscuits and bacon? No eggs or potatoes... I had to add potatoes which made my meal total $10.48. I had high hopes for this meal but was disappointed. The gravy tasted very plain, the biscuits were ok. My boyfriend ordered short stack of pancakes which again only came with bacon for $6.65. He liked the bacon, he said the pancakes were nothing special. Our total including a extra drink(we didn't want to buy another pricy O.J.) was almost $30! I live not even a block from this place for the past 8 years.. The food has gone down hill the cleanliness of the place is horrid and prices have gone up. I also have a problem with I feel different nationalities are given better service than my daughters and I. I believe in tipping 20%.. This Saturday was the last time I will go there. Breakfast on Saturday was awesome. I used to come to Arthurs....back in the day.....after a night of clubbing. It had been a while but the exterior looked the same. Odd thing, the inside looked BRAND NEW but in EXACTLY the SAME decor. Weird. Maybe my eyes and brain are just getting old. Parking is a bit hairy but it is freeway close (5 freeway at Lakewood). At any rate, the food was solid diner food. Not exceptionally creative but not boring. Nothing organic but not overly greasy either. Just a good breakfast that will leave you filled but won't break the bank. I had the chorizo omelette with beans and potatoes with a cup a joe. Just plain good. We needed a breakfast place since we were staying at the in-laws house just down the street and needed some semblance of sanity so we asked for a recommendation for breakfast and took off down the road. We saw this beautiful dive on the corner and headed right on in. It took a minute or two before the waitress noticed us and stopped by with some menus. The waitresses are super nice and and very friendly and are quick to ask for your drink order and before you know it your coffee is in front of you and your cup will never be empty ! You must order their famous Orange Juice because it is simply amazing and not overly sweet !! Always served cold ! I have been coming to this place for years. The waitresses are very nice. The food is very consistent. They have some very tasty biscuits and Arthur's Orange Juice, which is like an Orange Julius type of drink (like back in the old school). They also have huge portions! I will agree that the prices have continued to grow, however I will always pick Arthur's over Denny's or Norms so I will not make that comparison. If you are looking for old school American breakfast, you will not regret going to Arthurs. Update: I had not been to Arthur's in a few months and one of my family members mentioned that prices had changed. To many surprise, they were right. In addition to changing their menu prices, they charge you 3% fee for using any Debit or Credit Card, 75 cents for any ranch or 1000 island dressing and a 15% service charge if you have a party of 6 or more ( see the pic of my receipt for proof). I will not be eating at Arthur's in Downey anymore. Do yourself a favor and go to the La Habra location for a more comfortable experience ( the place is huge), clean bathrooms, and decent pricing. Arthur's Downey needs to reconsider these horrific additional fees! read more

I've been coming to Arthur's for well over a decade and am pleased to say that it remains one of my favorite breakfast spots! It's a small place which has many small restaurant type quirks that I enjoy. For example, the jams are all in a jar in a table for you to scoop out and the biscuits here are all you can eat! And the biscuits are amazing, dare I say it...my favorite. Buttered, or jammed, these babies can really do a diet damage. But if you're here, might as well! (+1 for the quirks/ayce biscuits) The menu is pretty simple and features all the basic breakfast items at a reasonable price (+1 star for price). They have different types of sausages, but I stuck to the basic link and it was delicious! They aren't the puny ones you get at chain restaurants. Thick and meaty, the only way to have sausage. Another Arthur's speciality (aside from their biscuits) is their orange juice. Just get it. It tastes like orange julius, but not! It's a bit icier and frothier and not as sweet, but still so delicious and refreshing when paired with a savory breakfast. The service here is excellent - the waiters and waitresses are attentive and welcoming (+1 for service). Parking is free and easy in a lot right outside (+ 1 star for parking).
