We really enjoyed the menudo and French toast. Really tasty. I would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast. Great service really clean.

After driving by this spot for years, my family and I finally decided to stop in for a late breakfast/lunch. I'll admit, it threw me off that we were the only customers there, making me worry it might be a bad sign. Fortunately, it was just the timing, because the food turned out to be perfect and delicious. I had the Chilaquiles (green), which were exactly what I was hoping for, and I added a side of Chile Verde to boost the flavor. My wife enjoyed her classic Tuna Melt with Onion Rings. My son kept it simple with a Bean and Cheese Burrito. Every dish was flawlessly. This little spot doesn't need a crowded dining room to prove its worth. The friendly staff made the whole experience great. Their welcome was warm and genuine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is exactly what you expect from a great mom-and-pop diner. It was clean, quiet, and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It could use a little upgrade, but the comfortable, familiar atmosphere is great[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I stopped in here for breakfast after church one Sunday. The place was packed. In spite of the crowd they seated me quickly and took my order right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a very family friendly restaurant. Lots of people of all ages, kids parents, grandparents.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating, especially for families with little ones. The menu has Mexican entrees along with American entrees, kids plates, healthy choices, slim plates, breakfast lunch and dinner. Something for everyone. I ordered heuvos rancheros and a coffee. My order came quickly. They refilled my coffee several times. My plate was filled to the brim. Lots of good food. No one leaves here hungry! There is parking in front and a small parking lot on the side.

We haven't been here in a few years and decided to stop by on a Sunday afternoon. We only placed an order for 3 drinks, one waffle and one breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was very good. Good portion of hash potatoes, egg and bacon. The waffle unfortunately was dry. Syrup was plain, nothing special or delicious. I would return to try other items since we use to enjoy breakfast here years ago and we did enjoy the burrito. The wait time was about 15 minutes for three people.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped in for quick lunch. It's a diner vibe with both Mexican and American food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated quickly. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered the fajita platter and enchiladas platter. They came with rice, beans and guacamole. The portions were huge. Loved the salsas that were bright to the table. Enchiladas sauce was really and flavorful. Will come back to try the other options. Definitely bring your appetite!

Cute brunch spot with plenty of flavor!…read more I stopped by Madres Brunch in Whittier and had a really enjoyable brunch experience. The restaurant has a cute, vibey interior, and the dishes are definitely photo-worthy. We started with the rainbow pancakes, which came as a stack of five colorful pancakes. They were definitely fun to look at and made for a great start to the meal. The Madres chilaquiles came with juicy birria and a flavorful red sauce. The steak was also surprisingly tender, and I definitely recommend asking about their house-made salsas to add even more flavor. The birria Benedict was one of my favorites. It came with a side of consomé, and the combination of the juicy birria, runny eggs, and English muffin soaking up all that goodness worked really well together. The pastor omelette was another standout, with flavorful pastor and sweet pineapple that gave the dish a nice balance. Overall, Madres Brunch is a fun spot if you're looking for a brunch with flavorful Mexican-inspired dishes and a cute atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Whittier area!

Too many choices. The food was underwhelming. It is unfortunate. I wanted it to be good as it was for a special occasion. The portions are small and again they focus on presentation and pretty dishes. I would have preferred a smaller menu. I would have liked to have a more flavorful meal. I had pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Bacon was not a good quality, super thin. Pancakes were less than average. They could have come out of a box. Eggs moist. My husband had chilaquiles and they were not appetizing at all. Small portion. Salsa was in a tiny plastic container and could have come out a jar. Coffee was good . This recommendation for the owners is to make it better so that it can be here for years to come. Simplify your menu. Review each recipe for flavor and portions. Maybe make a weekend brunch menu special and make it delicious. Try better quality ingredients. Spend less on presentation and ambiance. Make it taste better and people will come back again. Best of luck in the future.

Once we were ready she had our table already prepared. We have to order inside first before you can be seated. Once seated our food came out not too long after. Everything looked and tasted delicious! We ordered the chilaquiles verde, short rib omelette, tropical pancakes (seasonal), and the mango curd french toast (seasonal). The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. I wish it was a main menu item. I'll definitely be sad to see it go. They have lots of seating inside and outside.

I was curious about the level of accessibility and clearer directions on where to stand when the line passes the framing of the restaurant. But Great Downey location! Diversity score 1-5: 1.5 As a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace professional, in order to garner financial success of any business is to be intentional about representation in your business. Please contact me for consultation services. Service/Ambiance/Environment: The service is where my issue lies. I did appreciate that as we were waiting in line to enter, we were given menus to assist in deciding what we wanted before we reached the inside. The cashiers were both super nice and even offered a taste of the Rose' slushy which was phenomenal. When ordering at the register, the sweet service was continued and we chose where to sit. It was bright and busy inside and we sat right in front of the expo station. I was truly enjoying the environment and it had me reminiscing of my brunch days in New York City. My guest and I were chatting and enjoying our Mimosa's and then my guests food arrives first. Not that it matters but in service certain things do and the female presenting person SHOULD always receive their food first. That was a surprise to me but I didn't read into as I expected my dish to arrive right behind. It did not. My guest and I continued to chat and sip until 20 mins later, as I'm watching dishes leave the expo station, did I say "where is my food?" The young server at the expo turned and rolled their eyes and then finally gave me my food. This was a buzz kill. I only went down a rabbit hole about it until I noticed I was the only Black person present. First, why would it ever been ok to not have dishes arriving to tables separately without saying "ma'am we're a little behind.." or to my guest "do you mind if we hold your dish a bit so we can make sure the food arrives together?" Being a previous server in high pace restaurants, communication, apologies, and ensuring perfect service is the goal. Poached is not a store front or even a little diner type of place. It's a casual, upbeat, bright breakfast/brunch spot. And yes, on busy days things happen but to not offer a reason, or apology, and giving the customer attitude is unacceptable. Food: The description of the food is well written. The prices are reasonable. I ordered the short rib omelette with whole grain toast and house potatoes. When I Finally received my food it looked great and I was eager to dig in. A first bite of the omelette I was sadly underwhelmed. The seasoning left much to be desired and it seamed to be more of a birria short rib flavor and I thought I chose the dish based on being excited about the combination of meat and cheese (which was barely there). I enjoyed the bread and potatoes more than the omelette. Go again score 1-5: 2 I really think this restaurant and it's operation needs some massaging, the cooks need to be trained, and a REAL chef needs to help improve the quality and taste of the food.

Although there is parking in the front, it's very limited. We later found there is much more convenient parking in the back, which I definitely recommend using. As soon as you walk in, you can tell it's a family-owned, mom-and-pop restaurant. Even though the dining area is small, it feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable. It also seems to be a favorite among the locals, which is always a good sign. The service was excellent. The staff frequently checked on us, kept our water glasses full, and happily accommodated my fiancée's special request for her meal. The food was fantastic. My fiancée ordered the Wet Burrito without the cheese on top. It came with chips, and even though they were in the sauce, they somehow stayed crispy throughout the meal. She loved every bite. I ordered the chicken and waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. The chicken was fried to perfection--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well-seasoned throughout without being overly breaded. The waffles were delicious and paired perfectly with the toppings. We also shared a biscuit with gravy. The biscuit was soft, fluffy, and moist enough that it honestly didn't even need the gravy. That said, the gravy was rich, flavorful, and not overly salty, making it a great complement. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded our expectations. The churro appetizers were stale and rubbery, while the food was OK the service was absolutely terrible. The Restaurant seems to be open to families but the manner in which the female waitresses dress, especially the hostesses, it seems inappropriate for young children. Most importantly, image is supreme over customer service and restaurants need great customer service to survive. The waitresses failed to offer genuine, courteous customer service because they're too snobby or concerned about self image that they don't smile or engage with the Mexican culture/race!!!!
