Well, when you first enter Arthur's, it's like going into your grandmother's kitchen or your friend's grandmother's kitchen or mother's kitchen or home. The ambience is very nostalgic and they serve you in mugs which is a cute experience, different, I guess donated by people from the community. I lenjoy their breakfast and once you have breakfast at Arthur's, it keeps you pretty full for the rest of the day and it fuels you and fills you. Very, very delicious and wholesome. There is no bacon or sausage or STEAK like that of Arthur's, either. Eggs all good and nothing fake. We eat the homestyle potatoes or just a breakfast sandwich with a side of chili for lunch with crackers. Their waffles and French toast are wonderful! Especially with strawberry. Fresh squeezed orange juice is a treat and must try their huevos rancheros. Device is awesome either way eat in or take out--they always get it right. read more

3.5 stars. Arthur's is a Downey institution but this was my first time. I was craving pancakes and these were huge with a side of bacon. My husband said his biscuits and gravy were just okay, but he's had a delicious Denver omelette there in the past. Our waitress was amazing and kept our coffee cups full! I like Arthur's and have always enjoyed going there, although I don't visit as often as I'd like. Overall, I think their prices are decent, but I was really surprised by the price of their OJ. At the last minute, I added a small orange juice for my son without realizing how much it cost. The small was $6.75, while the large was $10.99, which I feel is pretty expensive for orange juice. It had been a long time since my last visit, so I was definitely caught off guard by the price increase. Unfortunately, when I tasted the orange juice, it also seemed watered down and had way too much ice. For that price, I expected much better quality. I understand prices can increase over time, but for the amount being charged, I would expect a great-tasting drink. Old diner vibe, food was okay. Coffee was okay as in nothing special. Got chile verde & egg breakfast. I ordered eggs softly scrambled, came out hard and dry. They replaced them as asked. Chile Verde was very watery and meat was cooked until no chunks seen, all just shredded up bits of meat and not very much of it. Beans were also watered down and cooked down into a watery puree. Was mainly watery green sauce. Potatoes O'Brien not so tasty, potatoes tasted old and watery as well. Waitress not very welcoming, older lady waitress on a Sunday. Just took order, dropped off food, never saw her again. Tolo the tall friendly busser guy was wonderful by comparison. Greeted me, gave me menu, water and checked on me 3 times, refilled my coffee and offered me box for leftovers. He should be commended, I really appreciated the difference he made to my experience. won't be back, mediocre food, nothing special. Expected it to have good Mexican chile verde, but subpar quality, not much meat watered down and not much flavor as were the beans. Wish I took a picture, but I was disappointed in the whole meal. Small, old school diner . You seat yourself at any open table and a lovely staff member will be with you. The menu is endless. I had The Sampler from the Quickie Breakfast menu which comes with a variety of sausages and cured meats (no substitutions) it was all so delicious , especially the pancakes which had a hint of cinnamon. My wife and I have been coming to Arthur's when we got the chance to visit her sister in Pico Rivera. we got Arthur's for breakfast and tried their butter biscuits they're so good, freshly baked with real butter in the biscuit. My wife ordered the two butter biscuits, two sausge and potatoes , eggs, and a cup of gravy on the side. Then I ordered the pork chop that comes with potatoes and eggs and also comes with two butter biscuits and gravy by the side. This restaurant is a little kozy, and everything is made fresh and made to order. The waitess brought our meal to the table the food looks so good. I was surprised by pork chop it was a big portions that's pork chop. I cut a piece of the pork chop it was tender and season well and cooked perfectly. I enjoy it very much. The potatoes were cooked well, spices and onion. I really enjoy potatoes. These were good, and the eggs cooked the way I like scramble. The two butter biscuits were very butterly when I opened one of the biscuits. I can see the butter in the biscuit. Nice and infused with biscuits were so good, then I added the gravy on the half the biscuit it was very good, but I like to eat the biscuit by itself those biscuits were very good. My wife enjoyed her breakfast she got full but also enjoyed her meal. We need come back again to Arthur's to try different items. read more

been coming here since mid 80's for their biscuits and gravy- used to be the benchmark of how i compared every diner i ever visited for past 35 years. 1st coming here since the ownership changed. i'm sorry to say it's not the same anymore. biscuits are definitely smaller and different. gravy is more waters down missing the rich sausage flavor. when reheating the gravy it has a bitter taste. obrian potatoes are bland. hot cakes are ok still but a little deceiving as the top of the stack looks big but it just covers the little ones underneath. i am so disappointed. read more

So good! The homemade salsa was spicy and full of flavor. I'm glad I ordered a side of home fries solely so that I could try the salsa. We were stopping for breakfast as soon as we hit traffic on the five. The plan was to jump off the freeway for breakfast as soon as stop and go started up and stopped. I'm so glad that fate brought us to Downey! Arthur's is small and easy to miss, but their sign of the best food in town is legit. Hardworking, high quality diner food is always a universal boon to a neighborhood, and Arthur's holds the standard well.
