This is a classic old school diner with plenty of parking right in front. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was seated right away in the first booth near the entrance. It seems to be a popular spot with the older crowd, and the menu offers a nice mix of Mexican American dishes along with traditional American breakfast favorites. I ordered the asada chilaquiles verdes with over easy eggs, and my little one had the kids' French toast. The food was really good overall. The green sauce was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the French toast was delicious. The only downside was that the carne asada had a slightly off taste, which took away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. My biggest surprise was the price. For an old school diner, I found it to be on the expensive side. The café de olla was $6.99, my son's orange juice was over $5, and even the small add-ons were priced higher than expected. Breakfast for just the two of us came to about $60 with tip. I'm usually used to spending about half that amount for myself and my 3 year old. Back Again -- And Olguitas Did NOT Disappoint! Yep, I'm back. If you read my last review, you already know I'm a fan -- and this visit only confirmed it. Came back to try the Huevos con Machaca and wow, Olguitas continues to deliver in a big way. The plate was loaded -- scrambled eggs with shredded beef, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, refried beans, and hash browns all piled onto that same generously sized oval plate. Did I finish it? Absolutely not. Took the rest home and it was just as good later! The café de olla was -- served in a beautiful hand-painted Mexican clay mug, rich and perfectly sweetened. That alone is worth the trip. One thing I also love about this place that I didn't mention before -- it's peaceful and quiet. I was able to sit down with no wait, have an actual conversation without shouting over noise. That's harder to find than you'd think! Olguitas Cocina has officially become a regular spot for me. Came in on a Saturday morning with my family for brunch and we were starving. Not busy at all so we immediately ordered our food and drinks. Three occupied tables including us with only one waitress. We weren't worried about it at that time but then it got really busy. It took a long time for us to receive our drinks. Even longer to get our food. Our kids received their food after us. They forgot a few things. The waffles were missing strawberries and we requested sour cream and other things. My wife had to get up a few times to service. Finally got to relax and enjoy our food. We both got chilaquiles and they were really good. High quality steak and decent sized chips. The sauce is pretty good. My kids shared waffles and spaghetti. They devoured their food and had no complaints. It was a hot day and it was warm inside. Eventually more staff showed up to help but we were already done. The aesthetics can use an upgrade as can their AC system. Not sure we will return. read more

I would give Olguita's Cocoa a 5/10 overall. The café de olla was actually really good, and the server was very friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, the food could definitely improve. The beans were cold, and the chilaquiles were just okay and not served hot. I also had to add extra chili for flavor, and they don't offer jalapeños upon request. The place has potential, but I think they really need to step up the aesthetics and overall presentation. I normally don't leave reviews, but this experience really needs to be shared. We recently visited this restaurant for the first time and were shocked to see they had a food grade of 60 -- which already raised concerns before we even ordered. We should have walked right out but we did not and unfortunately, things only got worse from there. The restaurant itself did not look sanitized at all, which made the situation even more concerning. The beans I was served were clearly spoiled. They did offer to bring me another plate, but after tasting that, there was no way I was going to eat anything else from the kitchen. My husband's bacon was just as bad -- it didn't even smell like bacon and had a very off, unpleasant odor that completely grossed him out. By the time they brought out the bacon and sausage, my husband had already finished eating. They did remove my plate from the bill, but what was most disappointing was the lack of care from staff. There was no apology and no effort to ask how they could make things right or improve the situation. Overall, this was a really unpleasant experience, and we will not be returning. read more

The pancakes were hands down some of the best I've ever had soft, flavorful, and just different in the best way. The whole place had such a cozy, homey vibe. It's not about being modern or flashy, it's the kind of spot that feels real and comfortable. We stopped by yesterday and were so pleasantly surprised! The location shows up as Chef's Coffee Shop, but the star is Olguita's Cocina! We sat outside on their small tables because we had our fur baby with us, but the service was still outstanding. They were so nice and welcoming. And the food! AMAZING. I personally had the mushroom and Swiss cheese omelette with sourdough toast and it was so delicious. The avocado on top was perfect. I also got their cafe de olla and it was served in a beautiful Mexican clay mug. I loved it. I was so happy we decided to try it out and can't wait to go again. I came because I saw the Yelp reviews. But, it turns out that this business is the same as the one before, but they only changed the name. I didn't like the food there before and was about to walk out, but one of the server's was very nice and I felt bad to just walk out. The first thing I realized is that it was very hot in there. They have no A/C and the fans were the only thing that were on. As I said, I felt bad walking out, but I should have! We all began to order. I ordered this waffle with whipped cream and fried bananas. To my surprise, the bananas were not fried. One of the ladies argued with me that it did not say that in the menu. After looking at the menu, she realized it was there. She said she would talk to the cook and ask if he would fry them. She came back and wanted to take the bananas that were covered with whipped cream and fry them. I asked, "Can you just bring me a few fried bananas?" She hesitated, but did. I thought I would not be charged for their mistake, but I was charged $1 for about 1/4 of a banana. I didn't argue. Toward the end of the meal, I began to feel stomach cramps. I ignored them. We left. The cramps got worse. The food made me really sick! I wasn't the only one. My nephew who also ordered the same thing later told me that he got sick as well, but his came after he got home. As for me, I do not recommend this place, but as I always say, you might want to try for yourself because your experience might be different. read more

I've wanted to check this spot out for a long time, since I live so close, and today was the day! It took 25 minutes to even put our order in, and over 1 hour since sitting down - and still no food. The chips and salsa and cafe de olla are really good though ... Service and wait time? Definitely not. They are desperately understaffed, and restaurant is outdated and in need of many repairs. After a long while, about 1 hour and 25 minutes, our food finally arrived. The portions are large, however everything is very greasy and salty. I cannot recommend this spot. This place is just incredible! We came back the next day on 4-6-25 with different people to see the wonderful food and staff. We arrived around 12:30pm after church and got good parking again. I ordered the Hot Links and Eggs with home fries and sourdough toast. The rule that I have when it comes to Hot Links on a menu is rare, but if you are going to have them, they better be good. The Hot Links were the best that I have ever had at a cafe/restaurant for breakfast. They were nice and thick and cooked perfectly. Everything else was just as good. It is a very nice and warm atmosphere with live music playing and able to watch the Dodger game on tv depending on where you sit. The staff are just great people, warm and friendly and make you feel welcome at their place. We love coming here. Our server was Jorge C. and he is great, provides excellent service and knowledge about the dishes on the menu. You will not be disappointed at all!! read more

First time here after seeing so many raves on social media, and the presentation of the food looked really inviting. I will say the flavor was good but will I recommend it to others? - not as my first choice. Previously known as Chef's Coffee Shop and going through a rebrand to Olguita's Cocina. It was fairly busy as we got there around noon on a Sunday. They had 2 workers: A server/cashier which was extremely lovely, she gave 20/10 service, and a gentlemen that was doing both bussing and serving, also a very sweet man 20/10, and both very attentive even through the chaos. My first red flag coming in was the lady behind the counter watching these two workers while she fiddled with the coffee maker, pack of napkins, and kinda wiped the counters but offered no other help. She gave off the feel of either the owner or management role as she was wayyy too lax, dressed and spoke more casual to the workers and guests. A line was forming behind us when we walked in and she just stared, didn't greet, didn't offer to find people a seat, nothing. We sat at the counter since there were empty seats and we sat there waiting for a menu while the lady behind the counter walked past us at least 4 times without a word, but did eventually offer coffee. The cashier freed up about 15 minutes after we sat down and offered us a menu, but given the crowd it did take about 20-25 minutes to get our order in by the same cashier - mind you the other lady was still behind the counter, didn't even ask if we were ready or had questions while we sat there with closed menus. Coming from a food service/customer service history, I've seen owners and managers jump in the back and cook, wipe down tables, help with dishes, help in every way bc they recognize the value of their guests. If this lady was part of management, that wasn't shown here. Got our chilaquiles dish which looked great but our orders got mixed up and were missing items. We didn't make a fuss we understood our plates were very similar and just ate what we got. Coffee was mid, kinda tasted watered down. Overall for two people we payed a little over $60...servings/ taste were a decent but not worth the pricing in my opinion. read more

I ordered the French toast stack with egg whites and 2 very thin slices of bacon is what I got for $25. The food was okay, nothing impressive or unique. I may have ordered the wrong item there but I will not be returning for a plate that said, $18.00 but due to egg whites, i ended up paying $25. I was so excited to try this place out but once we got our food that excitement went out the door. I ordered carne asada, eggs and hash browns with toast. The carne asada was overly seasoned and the toast tasted stale and dry. My mom ordered some pancakes and they brought to her with a side of syrup with a fly in it my husband said the green chilaquiles were good. He also ordered a cup of cafe de olla that unfortunately tasted like old burnt coffee...I really wanted to love this place but I would never go back based on this experience. I'm so sad because I love supporting small businesses but yikes for being in the business for 25 years this place does not know how to run a restaurant. We walked in and weren't greeted so we stood there for a while until an older man/bus boy cleaned a table and pointed to a booth. The waitress seemed all over the place she was charging people, taking orders, running to the back, and the older man/bus boy came to grab our drink order. It took almost 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order. We finally ordered and I kid you not it took well over an hour for our food to come. We didn't even get everything at once we got one dish then 20 minutes later another dish then 5 minutes later another dish. Another table even walked out because of how poor the service was. I truly felt bad because I thought they're understaffed, but nope a younger guy who was a server randomly came out from the back and so did another one who knew how to charge & serve people. The owner and manager definitely needs to step up and support his staff better. The food was okay honesty I was a bit disappointed to find out my refried beans were just canned beans. The tortillas hechas a mano were good and menudo too. My lengua con nopales wasn't great at all neither was the birria dip, they were both flavorless and soggy. read more

Honestly at this point, I've had too many dishes to list them all but everything is on point! I wanna shout out the hashbrowns specifically though, they're cooked to perfection. The hot links and eggs are bomb, the chile relleno omelet is one of my faves, andddd the owner, Jorge, makes a Calabasita dish for lent that's vegetarian.... Woah. Also the environment in the restaurant is very relaxed and familiar, all the servers are super sweet and attentive and the owner and chef will sometimes come out to check on customers. :-))) super yummy family owned LA restaurant that I recommend to all my friends who ask for food recs! Food is good for the price, but the service was really lacking We were seated and ordered water and coffee .. the water was brought out fast enough but the coffee was forgotten about. Waited at least another 20-25 minutes to have our order taken and the food took at least another 40 minutes. Another table that ordered right before us got up and left and we were about to ask well when they promised to fire our food next. It finally arrived and was good enough, but it would have tasted better if we were taken care of beforehand. It's understandable to be busy and to have to wait, that's life! But the wait was well beyond a normal wait time even for a busy restaurant and the server did not inform us of this. A simple acknowledgment of the wait time would have gone a long way. It looks like they're understaffed and the staff working are overwhelmed, which fault lies with ownership. Please do right by your employees and hire more staff! read more

My friend requested breakfast at an old-school diner, type place and this place was perfect. Just a note that the exterior signage does not have the name of the restaurant. The yellow sign says Chefs, coffee shop. There's plenty of parking in their lot and the breakfast menu has an abundant selection of options. I had the corn beef hash and eggs, which was crispy and caramelized, just the way I like it. My partner ordered hot links which was also good but the side of biscuits and gravy wasn't good. I'm actually surprised how many people wrote in their reviews that it was good when it was probably one of the least favorite ones I've had.. Service was friendly and efficient. My husband and I love Olguita's aka "Chefs Coffee Shop." This is our place every Sunday after church service. My hubby LOVES the Steak Picado. He says it's exactly like his grandma's recipe from El Paso. He also loves the ribeye. I love their pozole and cocido. YUM!!! The tortilla chips and green house salsa are so good. It feels like home. Very likely my favorite breakfast spot in the last year. It had that classic diner vibe straight out of a Quentin Tarrentino movie. Right down to the retro booths, light fixtures and fans. I think the waitress had started the place and could be an extra in any of his movies centered around a diner. I tried the Egg & Bacon breakfast. It was just freakin' perfect. I had it with the biscuits and gravy. I could have wept, I mean stopped, right there. Two massive, flaky biscuits with some great gravy. Maybe a kick with chicken broth brought it up a notch. The eggs were solid as were the hash browns. The coffee was kind of weirdly watered down which was a surprise. The bacon was good, but in the crispy style. Definitely a place to go to.
