Date of visit: January 17, 2026 Selections: Hot Cheeto Esquite Dragonfruit Lemonade Experience: I was craving esquite after my husband mentioned that this location was selling some when he came back with an agua fresca that was Dragonfruit Lemonade for us to share and tacos for himself. The agua fresca was good, but the esquite was a bit lacking for me because all the toppings aka mayo, cheese, butter, and Cheetos were on the top and none of it was mixed in with the actual corn itself, which makes sense for the Cheeto bits to not be soggy. But even when mixing it all together, I just felt like it needed more mayo for me.

This is our favorite Aguas Fresca place in the City of Whittier. They are so tasty and refreshing! Staff are friendly and helpful. They provide samples to help narrow down between all the yummy options. Place is very clean and nicely laid out. We are excited to see they added a Birrerria menu!! Will need to try next time!

Ordered from their truck at the Venice Winter Fest after seeing how many Birria dishes they offered. I got the Birria Torta for around $20, not sure if prices were higher because it was a festival, but the portion was big and the flavor was solid. Service, however, was really slow. I asked for salsa and a to-go bag right when they handed me my food, and it felt like it took ages for them to bring it over, which was pretty frustrating. Overall, good food but the pricing and slow service make me unsure if I'd return.

Decide to check out the news about RODEO 72. Busy booming and a lot of people a multi selections of food and treats. Music is booming a mini restaurant too. We chose Mexican for our first time here. The Agua Fresca nicely displayed. I got the Birria burrito and my wife got the Birria queso taco combo. I got the Horchata damn just the right amount of cinnamon my wife the dragon fruit wow what a kick! We got our food nice Lil Plating consume nice and hot. And taste fresh. My wife's tacos were good had to get here to slow down. My burrito pretty good size and packed. Meat cooked well some salsa on the side green fresh and red spicy kick but not tongue burning. Counter staff very friendly POS is up to date A grade nice Lil pop up. I like the graphic widow it's see through so you can see the food being cooked. This establishment is worth the first time coming Price to product = 9 Plating = 8 Customer service = 9 Menu = 8 Cleanliness = 8 Atmosphere = 7 I probably will return food is great counter staff is great. Just need to try more on the menu to earn that 5 star.

Las Chelanguas is located in the Whittier Rodeo 72 food hall. It was a hot day so I decided to stop here for some refreshing agua fresca. Service was awful. We noticed items would sit at the window for a long time before the front of house staff would call the customer for pick up. They did not have a pager or texting mechanism unlike other places in this foodhall. They just call out your number so you'll have to stay nearby to listen for your number. One of the things that annoyed me the most was that we stood in line and the cashier WENT TO GET AGUA FRESCA FOR THE PERSON BEHIND US. What the heck?!?!?! And they had to be super slow in doing so. I should have left because the wait wasn't worth it. When she finally took our order, I had to decide on what Agua Fresca flavor at the cashier. NO SAMPLES! Whatttttt?? All other agua fresca places I've been to anywhere else in the world offers samples. And their selection was much more limited than other similar businesses. I ended up getting the 32oz Agua Fresca ($8) in a dragonfruit flavor. It was TOO SWEET even after the ice melted down. My boyfriend tried their Birria Taco ($3.50) and he didn't look too impressed. I wouldn't consider coming back here given so many other options in the area and really awful service. Hopefully they can make improvements for the future for the sake of their customers.

Food is so great! Me and my daughter love stopping by here. I try to get down here once a week AT LEAST! I love their drinks!! And this food plate? Are you joking?

This place gets busy, service was friendly, food was delicious. There are tables outside to enjoy your food and great value for the price.

Service was horrible ! birria ramen was amazing but after i ordered a strawberry shortcake churro sundae, first of all, NO ICE CREAM, and then the cashier charged me extra for strawberries when i didn't ask for it i had just asked if it had strawberries in it. The cashier kept disappearing and coming back out going to the bathroom coming back out and then forgot about the ice cream she said she would give me because this is definitely not a churro SUNDAE. On top of that i had ordered dubai strawberries, it was basically just hard chocolate which came off the strawberries and strawberries it tasted like i was just eating strawberry no dubai and no chocolate. i mean the cashier was super nice and tried to fix everything but it's obviously frustrating

My kids and I cannot go anywhere else now since having their agua frescas! My go to is the strawberry milk or watermelon. So so good & the churros, just wow wow wow. The service is quick and super friendly. Their place is so colorful and lively can't help but smile when I go there!

The filling was good and would have been better if the tortillas weren't burned.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

We made reservations but that was difficult too as we called for several days until someone actually answered the phone. I was a little surprised because the food we ordered were all pretty tasty, decent portions, and reasonably priced. The service was ok. Orders took a little time to arrive, but they made sure we had chips and salsa and with a full crowd and a limited number of wait staff, they made sure we were still being attended too. Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.
