I'll try to keep this as short as possible. Reasons we went with them was, price was about the same as any other competitor. They offered a Home Depot Gift Card which we could use towards paying off the AC installation. It's been about 8 months. They BARELY completed the job about a month ago. We've contacted them too many times. Tried to schedule and they wouldn't show up. They still haven't provided the gift card, which was part of their little sales pitch. Honestly, it's too bad the google reviews aren't as bad as Yelp. I had no clue they have such a low rating until writing this. Terrible company. read more

Was approached at Home Depot and was told that the company would come and check out the AC and talk about any issues or replacements if needed. When the guy finally came he first asked me how old was the unit and immediately after responding, he says it's time to replace. Had not even been at the house for more than a minute. I told him I'm not ready and that it was my understanding that they would inspect it first. He said he doesn't do that. They just sit and talk about finances and prices on new units. Very aggressive sales guy apparently. I said I wasn't ready and he said to call back when I was. He was clearly not interested in looking at the AC, just wanted to sell a new one. We had a reoccurring issue of our washing machine drain line backing up and putting water on the floor. ARS came out and cleaned the line and ran a camera through it. Turns out we had a large run where the line sagged and held water. We also wanted to know if we had a main sewer line clean out and if not, get one installed. The young man said we did have one and it was separated and buried. He told us they could fix the sag by running another line down the side of my house and tying it in to the main line behind my house, and it would take 2 or 3 days (it took a couple weeks) and replace the main line clean out. I told him that would put the line in my neighbor's yard since that side of my house is on the property line. He told me all we had to do is get my neighbor's permission...."they do this all the time". I got my neighbor's okay and they dug a trench down the side of my house and across my backyard and laid the pipe. When the city inspector came out he failed the job because Houston doesn't allow you to run a sewer line through your neighbor's yard. His supervisor said she'd talk to the city and get it straightened out since "they do this all the time". They regrouped and said they'd tunnel under my house and replace the sagging line that way, it would take 2 or 3 days (this took two more weeks). We had to keep calling them to finish the job, on several occasions when we asked about them finishing the job, the persons we talked to thought it had been completed. When they finally dug up our main line clean out, it was there but not separated, they replaced it anyway. They do not communicate well, they do not show up when they say they will, we will not be using them on any more jobs, big or small. read more

Terrible customer service at 713-777-7777. Rude lady has no idea how to talk to customers. On related note, I have been waiting for a call from dispatch department for 16 days. On day 14 they told me that I was going to receive a call the same day to schedule, but it was a lie. This company was very good to sell me $5,300 tankless water heater. They installed the next day after payment, but when it broke down after 1-year of use, ARS rescue rooters are a nightmare. Unfortunately they are certified (supposedly) on this equipment, but I seriously doubt it at this point. I am going to have to call the manufacturer for advise. read more

They came out late August to unclog outside kitchen drain. Ground was very dry. Through drain clean process they used a hydro jet and a huge accumulation of water was created along perimeter of slab on that side of house. Water and grease seeped into the ground and absorbed by the slab. Other side of house ground stayed bone dry. Slab expanded like a sponge due to excessive water thus creating that side of house to settle or raise. A crack appeared right at drain up the brick to roof line. And interior Sheetrock ceiling is separating. NOW I AM STUCK WITH PAYING OVER $6000 to get slab leveled due to their incompetence. Tried to get them to look at or help in any way. A Troy informed me they will not help period. My attorney will be reaching out. read more

We purchased an A/C unit from Home Depot in 2017 and ARS was contracted for installation. The warranty expires 2028. We decided to go with one of their membership plan to make sure that the unit and furnace were serviced properly. Has been nothing but a headache and a pain in the butt with this company. Every time they come out to perform maintenance check up there's always a new problem that involves higher prices. I feel that they are creating the problems and wanting you to pay for it. On Friday, 10/11/24, Jose Cruzado, the technician arrived to service the furnace. After going into the attic for about 15-20 minutes, the technician came down and told me that the only issue that he saw was the media filter needed to be replaced. I asked for the price of the filter and he quoted $131.00 but when I refused to pay that ridiculous price he said that he could discount it to $75.00. I agreed because I felt like it really needed to be replaced. I told him that I could have ordered two filters from Amazon at a much cheaper price. I HAVE DONE IT BEFORE‍ In the process of completing the paperwork the technician forgot to raise the stairwell which restricted me from getting to the hallway and laundry room. I couldn't lift it because I have some health issues that prevents me from climbing and during that time I was alone and had no one to raise the stairwell so I contacted ARS to ask if they could possibly send a technician out if there was one in the area of my home. The guy Larry apologized and said that he would have a technician to come and take care of it within an hour. Hours later no one showed up nor contacted me so I decided to call back and spoke with another customer service representative and she said that Larry never completed the order and she too apologize and completed the order and sent me an email confirmation. Later, I received a call from another customer service rep and he said unfortunately there was no one else available maybe until 9:00 or 10:00 that night or he could send someone over the following day which was Sunday. CHURCH TIME By that time I was truly frustrated and annoyed with ARS so I declined. I decided to try and climb the ladder and I end up falling off of the ladder and hurting myself. But I thank God that I was able to get the stairs back up in the right position. Monday I called ARS to make a formal complaint to the Satisfaction Team but was told that the complaint would be forwarded to that department and I would receive a callback from them. NEVER HAPPENED!!! I called back on Thursday and spoke with Margo. After sharing my experience with her, she too apologized and promised to submit complaint to the Satisfaction Team for a follow up and she would be calling back herself the following day at 2:00 PM to make sure someone from that department had called me. AGAIN!! NEVER HAPPENED. Their technician will tell you that your unit needs some kind of part replacement and then write it up under recommendation. Then you call to have another technician come out and they find nothing wrong with the unit. ARS are a bunch of price gouging, unprofessional liars and dishonest people. So that motto they are trying to sell about they care is nothing but a joke and garbage. I feel bad for the few good descent and honest employees they do have because sooner than later they are going to be corrupt and tricking for this company to. Had stoppage issue, called ARS to do the job. Crew came out and started digging and cutting. They had to go under the house. When they left I went to lock the gate and omg the digging they did on the side and under the house was so neat, professional, and clean cut. I was so impressed with Wilfarro Lopez and his team! Beware 5 years ago I purchased a hot water heater from Home Depot. HD assigned ARS Rescue Router the job. I was given a blanket receipt for $2341 by ARS, not Home Depot. Recently that HWH failed and I called ARS to ask for an estimate to replace it (still under warranty). Duane from ARS gave me an estimate of $1430+$250 for having to deal with exchanging it at HD (red flag). I called HD and they assigned another company for the job. When returning the WH I discovered ARS paid $514 for the initial WH. Doing the math, that didn't come out well with ARS 5 years ago ($1826 for install? or doubling+ the price of the WH). I called Aubrey(?) a supervisor at ARS and he told me the same job today would be $3300+. That's $1430 for the install and the rest for a $659 WH. Again, I purchased this through Home Depot, not ARS. I would hate to think the premiums they are charging their own customers. Make sure you get itemized receipts and know what you're paying for. I didn't and I got screwed. read more

I'm very unhappy with the service ars has provided when installing our HVAC unit. It was installed incorrectly and leaked carbon monoxide into our home for weeks before it was noticed and red tagged by the local gas company. It was negligent and put my family in danger. I have tried to contact the company representative for weeks with no response. I will be looking at my options to take legal action. I've reported to BBB and I will have my attorney draft a demand letter and start the arbitration process soon. read more

ARS came out to see why our AC was not cooling the house. After paying 99 dollars for the service call the technician tells my husband we needed a new condenser fan motor and it would be 2000 dollars. My husband said that was too expensive. He called another AC place and was quoted 950. He decided to purchase the parts himself and our son and him fixed our AC for 400 dollars. It took about an hour and a half for them to fix our AC. ARS should be ashamed of themselves for price gouging. And this is not the first time we have had issues with them. We used to have them come every Summer and Winter to do a checkup and one time the technician tried to sell us something that would go up in our attic (can't remember what it was) but when they told us the price we said no. Then the guy said well if you want I can come back on my off day and do it for a cheaper price. We called ARS to speak to a supervisor who didn't even care that the employee did that. We will never use them again as they over charge and are not trustworthy. They got a one star only because I couldn't give them a zero. Wow, I'm actually surprised by the bad reviews. We've used them three different times, for three separate issues and each time I've had nothing but good experiences with them. The first time was almost two years ago, when we had to replace the duct work to our house. We at that point had it for about a year or so, when we made the decision the AC needed an upgrade. We found ARS through a vendor table outside of Home Depot, for reference. We knew our AC wasn't optimal, though our unit was new, so that was the best way to help improve the situation in an older building. Second time we called them was a few weeks ago, maybe 6 at the most, when the AC vent in our dining room was leaking. The ARS guy was diligent about Covid protocols and extremely friendly. He gave up several options, running price points for each thing. We chose what made most sense to us and fit within our budget. Third time our dishwasher stopped working. We thought it was a simple fix due to a plumbing issue. They came out tested the water and let us know that they couldn't fix it as the dishwasher essentially died. I appreciated that they were honest and gave recommendations about models to get and where to buy them. He didn't have too. So as you can see, I'm a happy person and even recommend them to friends. As long as the workmanship stands and the customer service is good, I'll continue recommending them. read more

I contacted Home Depot and was connected to ARS. I needed AC maintenance. They came out and the technician said that he can't move forward with a tune up because I needed to pay $300 for a part first. Then he says once the part is replaced, then he can do the tune up but there may be other issues because from what he sees I need a new unit. I declined. They just want you to purchase a new AC. Do NOT USE This Company. Stay away from ARS. Especially if you are just wanting maintenance only. I paid $69 for a technician to come and tell me all the reasons why I need a new AC. After I declined to pay $300 for a capacitor, he told me he could do nothing further and charged me $69 for a visit. He was only there for 15 mins. A complete waste of my money. read more

In the middle of the 105 Houston summer, my office A/C went out. My regular A/C guy was booked for a week and they suggested I contact ARS since they would probably be able to come out that same day. I contacted ARS and set up an appointment in just a few hours. That appointment time came and went and 4 hours after that I contacted ARS to find out where they were. The answering service told me "I'm sorry. We'll have to reschedule for tomorrow." An appointment was made from between 9:00am and 1:00pm. Another no show and not even a courtesy call. I called again and they said they'd be out at 2:00. At 3:30 they showed. The young man, (obviously not many years under his belt), took the A/C apart and told me my system was so old that IF he could find a part, the warranty would only be for 30 days. So he presented 2 additional options for new systems, $13,000 and $16,000. I told him I needed to think about it and I'd be in touch. He gave be a bill for $109 service fee that I had to pay right then. In the meantime my regular A/C guy called and made a stop the following morning. He was at my office at 7:45, replaced one small part that immediately started cooling the building, and was driving away before 8:30. His bill arrived in a few days for a whopping $250. I called ARS that day asking for a refund - that was August 30. I was promised a return call that day. As of yesterday, September 15 I still had no call, and I was calling them at least once a day. Late last night I get an email apologizing saying they just got the message yesterday. They also said they were refunding the fee but it could take 3-4 weeks to process the check. It was a disgusting transaction from start to finish. Lies, lies, and more lies. No one wants to do business with people like that. If I could give negative stars I would! read more

I told that I no longer own a home & no longer need their service when they called the 1st time after their move. They are the worst company Ever. I will paint the picture for how they move so you can be aware. They have a telemarketer or some other ones call you and lie to make it look like you need a yearly maintenance checkup on your AC unit. Bial or Bio the salesman playing like a AC guy comes play like a supervisor and go in your Air Handler and pop your wiring or disconnect in some way and check your compressor and come back and tell you that you should change both units. That will be $16,000. You ain't no fool so you listen and know you just need him to leave because we not buying nothing because everything working. However, now everything is flickering, can't open washer, ect. Then they send Steve the nice guy who I actually like to butter you up and see your lights flickering and washer locked and tell you your problem only $300. Brandon came out on Saturday morning with no extra charges and explained how much more effective the hydro jetting truly clears the line. So I have had ARS rescue rooter on a service contract for a few years. HVAC. This year they got rid of the service plan that I had and I had to change plans. Less coverage higher price. Imagine that I had my semiannual tune up for the heater. The unit is about 7 years old so possibility that a few issues are starting to show. The technician does his check up and tells me that the High Temperature safety switch is not working and that the Exhaust Fan is drawing too much current. 1.062 amps. Temperature switch replacement cost $503 because I have a service contract I get a 15% discount so $427 The Exhaust Fan $1,036 less 15% $879 We also had a weekend of very heavy rain and without going up on the roof he said that the vent system was bad. $1,200 less 15% $1,020. Total cost $2,326 quoted. All are lies. Funny I had been in the roof just a few days before and I saw nothing wrong.I went back up to check no problems. I have worked on Nuclear power plants s, Nuclear submarines and many refineries and chemical plants. I have a strong instrumentation background. So to the story. $427 seemed high for a limit switch. I went to a supply house and got a new limit switch. I replaced the temperature switch. I took the old one that I was told was bad and hooked it up a Volt meter to check the switch. I heated the switch and the switch changed from an open circuit to a closed circuit. The temp was within range of 150°F Showing that the temperature switch was working properly. I am not sure what the temp was but the technician had no way to tell me what the temperature was either. The switch cost me $21.60 There are two screws and two wires to the switch. $400 profit less labor charges. RIP OFF!!!!!! It took me less than 5 minutes to replace it. If you don't know how to go to UTube. While at the parts house I asked if they had the Exhaust Fan. They had one in stock my cost $350. However the normal current rating for the motor on the box was 1.06 amps. Any field instrumentation meter Unless calibrated yearly is not going to be that accurate 1.062 amps Vs 1.06 amps and not a test bench level of accuracy. The fan was not needed. RIP OFF I called the company and asked to speak with a service manager at 4:15 PM. No one was available. I was promised that I would get a call back the next morning well it's 3:00 PM The next day still no call. I cannot give 0 stars!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE LYING CHEATING THIEVES!!!!!!!!! I'm so pissed , they give you a 4 hour window, I got a call stating they were 30 min away and it's been an hour+ Wasted 4 hours of my day that I could've been running errands ! Now they about to have me late to work!! I've waited 4 hours and 30 minutes and they still haven't arrived! I see why the rating is so low now! If I would've have paid the annual membership fee , I'd cancel the appointment! This is awful!! They definitely won't be getting the repair job! They need a better system with booking appointments. I did tell him that the power went out 3 times during a storm in the area. I told him that it had to be a fuse or a breaker that went bad. A 2nd opinion from a licensed HVAC friend that wasn't able was out of town , told me that once he didn't see that the control panel inside of the panel wasnt lit up then he should've instantly known that it was a fuse and he should've been in and out within 30 minutes of the service call. instead I was charged $86 for a fuse that cost $2. Prior to that I was charged 189.00 for them to cut a 1 x 2 ft hole in my wall to see if there was mold the on 4-26-2022. My window was 9-1 and they arrive at between 9-9:15am . Smh never again after 7 hours of waiting for the and being charged $86 for a small panel fuse. The service call was free. I paid $24-25 for the membership . read more

Had an issue with the AC going out so I contacted ARC. I was hesitant at first due to seeing some negative reviews on yelp but if you are reading this and are skeptical, reconsider. I had an AC tech come out and inform me the issue was plumbing related. He put in a referral for a plumber from ARC and they sent Jake out by the end of the day. Jake was extremely polite and understanding. He answered my questions and educated me on what had caused the issue and how to perform preventative maintenance. The pricing was a little high but well worth it for the professionalism. Due to the level of service I received during this time, I fully intend on contacting ARS for any future needs. read more

While some employees seem honest & competent, many, by experience, are only aiming for an up charge and have been honest about how they are paid & have the nerve to apply pressure based on what they will be compensated if customer moves forward during home visit. Talk about a nightmare situation. I suggest investing in remarkable customer service above all else. Twice ARS has come to suggest what is 'wrong'. With doubt, I have twice called another company and was given a different assessment. I've then called ARS back to convey competitor assessment and they've sent a different ARS employee who bad mouthed the previous. Obvious internal conflict within this organization & by investing my time in this review, I'm simply hoping to warn future prospective clients. While looking over hot water heaters at the local home improvement store, I was approached by a rep stating he represented a contractor that works with Home Depot Home Services. He signed me up to have someone come out & get an estimate done. "Jimmy Castaneda" with ARS came out & did the estimate that was pretty much JUST a price. Not an itemized price. He stated that they don't do itemized estimates & that he wouldn't be able to tell me how much I'd be charged for the water heater, labor or other other items such as hoses, the pan, etc. Little did I know that when he went up to the attic to look at the current water heater, he lessened the temperature of heat that the water would be heated to. What an a****le! I didn't know til hours later when I needed to use hot water. It was working fine til he went up there! Either way...this is your sign to get a few ITEMIZED estimates from different companies and then make a decision. I went with a different company, they gave me an itemized estimate that included a leak detection sensor and an automatic emergency shut off that was a few hundred LESS than what ARS had quoted me. read more

FYI they charge you $77.77 just to look at your unit. Also they WILL charge you double the amount of any other reputable HVAC company. I just had a guy named Bao Vo come out to check our AC unit as it had problems cooling the other night. He came out and said I needed a new evaporation coil and I would need to fork up $4520 before the discount. He assured me there was a leak and it was leaking water and freon. He assured to me that I would need to pay $1300 for him to tighten connections and add freon which was a waste and I should just fork up the money for a new e coil. I checked it myself and did not see this leak in the attic. Upon calling another HVAC company they confirmed there was not a leak, and an e coil should only run me $2000. The issue ended up being the AC working too hard and needing to "cool down" as our unit could be bigger to handle our demand. Magic A/C also quoted a new condenser unit (3.5T) with the evaporation coil for $4500. ARS quoted me $9900 for a condenser unit and evaporation coil. The last time I used their plumbing service for my Mother's house the man said "for all this work you will have to give me your youngest daughter" to my MOTHER then reiterated to me. Is this acceptable small talk? My mom was alarmed and uncomfortable as was I. My partner called them because they were the first HVAC service google provided and we were HOT. I feel as though they tried to cheat me with HVAC cost, and I felt objectified and uncomfortable with the mannerisms of the plumber I had an experience with through rescue rooter at my mom's house. If i knew he was having the same company as rescue rooter come out I would have told him to ask someone else. Alas, the HVAC guy came and tried to swindle us. I do not feel comfortable with this company and I suggest you look elsewhere before asking them to come out and definitely have someone else there with you. read more
