Here is a factual timeline of my HVAC service experiences: June 2, 2024: Hired Texas Air Care A/C & Heating for a non-functional HVAC. Paid $394.00. Invoice states "Replced t-stat and fuse. Found short at t-stat, repaired. T-stat old, christmas lights sound, and wire bent in wall to mount properly." An Emerson 1F78-144 thermostat was installed. June 3, 2024: Had Temperature Pro Katy-Cypress perform a system evaluation. July 5, 2024: AC experienced issues. Excel Air LLC replaced a dual run capacitor. July 11, 2024: AC stopped working again. Contacted Texas Air Care A/C & Heating. Paid an additional $228.95. Invoice states "Found small short in low volt wire under Cougs - Have spot on wire stripped back wire & re-connected. Con Vactor seems ok - monitor," and a fuse was replaced. December 27, 2024: The same HVAC issue recurred. Excel Air LLC was called. They replaced the Emerson 1F78-144 thermostat that Texas Air Care A/C & Heating had installed on June 2nd. "I'm happy to do a service call but it's gotta wait because I've got people with working no air" That's everything you need to know about John's ethics. I called him because my Lennox machine wasn't blowing cold air. Over the phone, he let me know that Lennox has an issue with evaporator coils and I likely have a leak. I have him come to my house less than 24 hours later and he takes a look at the unit. The unit went into protection mode due to a power surge. John told me over the phone that we would be looking at a major repair because I failed to mention the power surge, so he didn't know. But he looked at the unit and explained to me that a power surge will turn ACs into fan systems, and that all I have to do next time is wait an hour and turn the unit back on. No upsell, just 99 dollars for his time and expertise. I was prepare to spend thousands. At that point, I felt very comfortable with John's ethics. It's a good thing to have. I asked him to do a service on the machines (clean, etc, yearly maintenance) and he told me he was happy to. However, his priority was to get customers with no working AC up and running. I'm okay with that. It's a sign of good principles. Also, he told me he's proud of his install work. I know my machines will break again, and when they do I hope he'll be around to help. read more

They came out immediately to fix our A/C when it broke down. They were super friendly and helped us with a short term fix, so they ended up replacing our entire A/C unit and furnace when it eventually broke down for good. I called Texas Air Care when my AC stopped cooling. John responded quickly and was able to diagnose the issue. My house has the air handler installed in a very tight space which was causing a problem with air flow. John did some research and found a compact unit that would fit my space better. While we waited for the new equipment, John came out to the house and recharged my freon and was reasonable on the price. I was thinking the worse but after John checked it out he found two issues that were minor and easily correctable. John was an answered prayer because when your house is hot you are willing to pay almost anything to get it fixed but John being honest , professional and fast put me in the cool for a lot less than what I was expecting. I am disappointed with Texas Air Care. John came out and looked at my AC unit and determined that my compressor had gone out. He said I would need a completely new system. He said he would have me some quote numbers to me soon. It has been 1 and a half weeks with no response. I had a third AC repair person come out and I found out that my compressor was fine, it was the fan motor that was bad. I will not use Texas Air Care. I'm not a happy camper. read more

My AC died right before Harvey hit and I consulted with Alpine Air originally. They told me what needed to be fixed and gave me a quote which I accepted. Harvey came and went but Alpine was nowhere to be found. I asked Texas Air Care for a quote and they responded ASAP. They came in the next day, figured out the problem and gave me an even lower quote than Alpine. Not only that, but they fully explained what was wrong with my AC which Alpine was less than truthful with. John and his wife Dana are wonderful! I've dealt with John for over a year. He's never left us hanging in the Houston heat, and was at my home within 20 minutes of my call on a Sunday night. He is upfront about the OT, especially during off peak hours (when most guys will tell you to stuff it on a weekend or holiday). He and his team were able to get us comfortable within minutes, and had our replacement coil in the next day (today) within an hour and a half. They were impeccably clean despite the rain, and muddy yard. He doesn't use a lot of jargon and double talk, and brings things down to a layman's level, pitches the price and gives you the option to say yes or no. He stand by his work granting you a one year guarantee on labor, so you know if it's shotty work he'll fix it. I do consider him a friend and trust his judgment. My AC stopped working on what felt like the hottest day of the summer with four restless children running all over the place, fighting, and of course, COMPLAINING! I called Texas Air Care to see if they could help me out, and I even explained that I only had a little cash available. Texas Air Care were at my house in less than an hour already knowing that I hardly had any money to my name. My yard was a virtual jungle because my lawnmower had broken two or three weeks before, but John went back there anyway to look at my unit without saying a single word about the yard being crazy high. He spent less than 10 minutes looking at it, went to his truck, grabbed something from the back, went back to the unit, and BOOM! AC was back on. When he wrote out my invoice, he only charged me $30.00! I told him that I knew it was way more than that, and told him I had a $50.00 bill. He said that since it was the end of the day and it looked like my day was going much worse than his, he wanted to give me a break. He took my $50, and handed me a $20, gave me his card and told me to have a great day. I was trying not to cry, because I really was having one of the worst days ever, and I couldn't believe that they would help me out like that. I knew Dana from high school, but I didn't know her husband, the owner. He treated me like family, and I've been in touch with them ever since. I asked a neighbor how much he would charge to replace a capacitor on my unit and he said parts plus labor would run me between $100-$250.00 depending on the time of day and type of unit I had! I have a duct cleaning and a routine check up for my heating system scheduled for October. They will have my AC business from here on out. I didn't want to write a review until the system worked for at least 30 days, and since it's still running, here ya go. read more

My Father used to say that Honesty is the best Policy.... if you are honest it will pay in the long run. After reseraching quite a lot for a AC, I found John, a very honest man who will tell you what exactly you need. He is not a person who sold me more than I required, but told me what I needed. i was about to replace my whole AC system when he told me that my coils were good and there was not need to replace them now since there should last for 3-5 years, and hence he replaced only my condensor unit, in addtion when he saw my upper floor AC condensor unit dirty he washed it for no additional cost because he just felt it will be good for me. I bought a Carrier system from another company, they could never get it to work right. After 5 trips and 4 different techs and friend recommended Texas Air Care. The tech came out and used a digital gauge to get charge perfect. The system was way over charged. Since they fixed it for me my bills are 1/2 of what they were. I just had the most horrid experience with this company. My AC system on the second floor the company diagnosed as having an improperly secured board. The gentleman replaced the board- a Goodman product that is priced at $80 at a charge to me of $328. He further charged me $220 for labor and $100 call out fee. I ended up paying $599 for a mere capacitor replacement and securing. I only called this company based on reading prior comments about them. I now wonder how truthful and real those comments are? Based on my experience this morning (9/2/18), I would politely caution new customers when dealing with this company. Make sure you discuss pricing before work is done. Hindsight is 20/20, I wish I had taken my own advice. Nevertheless, it is important for businesses, particularly family businesses to do right by the customer and never exploit the misfortunes of others. Business is about repeat customers and referrals. Glad to have found someone that I can trust with my AC. Called to have my AC problem diagnosed and John came out the same day. He quickly discovered that the previous person to work on my AC had taken some shortcuts and that was the cause of my issue. We were planning to replace the unit within the next year and when John heard that he said he didn't want us to spend money on a pricey repair to correct the past mistake if we were going to replace the system within a matter of months anyway. So we decided to replace the whole system. He talked me through my options and got us on the schedule ASAP. John and crew arrived promptly on the day of the install, worked straight through and finished earlier than expected, while leaving my house as if they had never been there (other than the much cooler temperature). And not only did he get me squared away with my AC, he also noticed a problem with my hot water heater while he was in the attic and advised me that I should call someone to look at it, as it likely needed to be repaired or replaced.
