I've heard so much about Array 36 over the years but somehow never made it over--ironically, my friends who live much farther away tried it long before I did! Sooooo I finally had a reason to go for my boyfriend's birthday dinner with his family, and it was a great choice for the occasion. Places like this are perfect for a higher-end Chinese meal because everyone gets to pick a dish to share and get to try everyone else's. The interior design is really well done, you could tell they put work and thought into making a vision happen. The older generation could easily say it's a bit on the darker side, but honestly, the lighting is actually perfect for taking great photos of the food and group :D. Service was overall fine, but the food itself was truly delicious, and the presentation and overall vibe really hit the mark!! I'd ideally give it a 4.5 if I could--5 feels just a tiny bit high, but 4 feels a little too harsh for how good the food and atmosphere were! Will definitely be back. :3
Came here for Father's Day with my pops. I have to say, the outside of the building doesn't look like much, but the inside is actually really nice and definitely has a more upscale vibe. They have a pretty big menu, so it was honestly kind of hard to decide what to order. The food leans more toward Shanghainese cuisine. Here's what we got this time: Roasted Chili Sauce Century Egg with Sea Cucumber A simple cold dish with sea cucumber and century egg. It was a nice way to start the meal and went really well with a bowl of rice. Shanghai-Style Smoked Fish with Preserved Plums This was one of my favorite dishes. The fish was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and coated in a flavorful sauce. Definitely a must-order if you're coming here. Array 36 Signature Roast Duck We got the regular version instead of the tableside carving, and it still came with the wraps and all the condiments. Just a heads up, extra cucumbers and scallions cost another $10. The duck was flavorful, and everyone at the table enjoyed making their own wraps. Shanghainese Sauteed Eel in Special Sauce The eel is cut into thin strips and cooked in a thick soy-based sauce. If you like eel, this one is worth trying. It also pairs really well with rice. Fried Dough with Shrimp Paste (Special) This was probably my favorite dish of the meal. The fried dough soaked up all the sauce, and it was sautéed with vegetables. I'd definitely order this again if it's available. Shanghai Pan Fried Buns The bottoms were nice and crispy. They weren't my favorite dish compared to everything else we ordered, but they were still a solid addition to the meal. Overall, everything came out fresh and was perfect for sharing family style. I'd definitely recommend ordering some rice since a lot of the dishes are packed with flavor. Service was friendly, and I was able to make a same-day reservation just by calling. It is on the pricier side, but the quality, atmosphere, and variety on the menu made it worth it. I'd definitely come back because there are still so many dishes I'd like to try.
Array 36 set the duck on fire! Private Room with bathroom was a nice touch. Great restaurant for high quality authentic Asian dishes. 1. Truffle Chicken 2. Peking Duck 3. Braised Pork Belly with Quail Eggs 4. Chicken Soup 5. Steamed Fish 6. Fried Shrimp 7. Yuzu Jelly Fish 8. Beef Ribs The entire experience was elevated from start to finish. This is a Chinese Restaurant focused on upscaling traditional dishes and such a great night to celebrate!
Peking duck anniversary, $99 buy one get one free! On the pricier end of Chinese find dining but great ambiance inside. Highly recommend the shrimp and duck here!
Came here for my mom's birthday, but the service felt a bit disappointing. We called ahead to confirm we could bring our own cake and were told it was fine, and that they would also provide a longevity noodle dish for the celebration, but that never came. We also found it a bit suspicious that the lobster only took about three minutes to be "cooked." When we tried to change part of our order shortly after placing it (within 1-2 minutes), they said it was already being prepared and couldn't be adjusted. We handed over our cake at the front, but it wasn't refrigerated, and later it was just brought out in the box without any presentation or candles, which made the moment feel less special. They did play a birthday song, which helped a bit to lift the mood. The decor looks nice at first glance, but up close it feels less high-end than expected. Also, the presentation felt lacking, some dishes looked a bit sloppy and not very appealing. Overall, it felt like an underwhelming experience, and I wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion.
I came with my family for an early Fathers day dinner. We made a reservation and originally opted to do a private room for 8 people and they mentioned the minimum spend for private rooms is $600 + a 20% service fee charge! We didn't come super hungry so decided to a regular table instead. I've been here a few times previously and always thought the Duck show was a crowd pleaser so I've been wanting to bring my parents here! Food did not disappoint - Not too salty but flavorful and beautifully presented. Highly recommend the duck! The smoked duck is my personal favorite. The crispy prawns are also delicious.

I recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you are coming to Array 36 on the weekends. -- Array 36 Signature Crispy Prawns in Plum Sauce [5/5]: The shrimp is crispy and I love the plum that they give on the side. I highly recommend this dish if it's your first time here! -- Shanghainese Sauteed Eel in Special Sauce [5/5]: The sauce is sweet and this dish is definitely on the garlicky side. -- King Crab [5/5]: We got the king crab prepared in 3 different types: typhoon shelter style, steamed with garlic and vermicelli, and steamed egg. My favorite was the typhoon shelter style, it had a nice little spice flavor to it. -- Braised Pork with Chestnut Japanese Yam [4/5]: I enjoyed the japanese yam, but I probably wouldn't order this dish again. -- Spicy Vermicelli Hotpot [4/5]: It had a nice spice kick to it, but it was a bit oily. -- Array 36 Signature Roast Duck [5/5]: I would have preferred more of the condiments on the side. It was my first time eating roasted duck with brown sugar, which was pretty unique. -- Fine Slice Jellyfish with Japanese Yuzu Sauce [3/5]: I had high expectations for this, but I probably wouldn't order this again. It was lacking flavor and was nothing special. -- Shanghai-Style Smoked Fish with Preserved Plums [5/5]: The flavor of this dish was similar to their signature crispy prawns. -- Snow Pea Leaves [5/5]: I love snow pea leaves and this was cooked perfectly. -- Sea Coconut Chrysanthemum and Snow Pear [5/5]: I loved this dessert, it was not too sweet. I would definitely get this again! -- Matcha Pudding [3/5]: The matcha flavor was not strong enough, I probably wouldn't get again.
Elegant high end setting, delicious slightly different food, reasonably priced for the value. For the 4 of us, we ordered the group set menu B, designed for 4-5 people for $118. It was very sumptuous, high quality, with dishes like roasted duck, jelly fish salad, and pepper steak. My favorite was the fish soup, fish was tender and soup was very flavorful. Tip: once we ordered the set menu, dishes came up very quickly, it's best to let them slow down the pace if you are not in a rush. We got way too many dishes initially for us to enjoy properly, after letting them know, they gladly slowed down. Only complaint is it's a bit hard to hear each other even at a small table of 4-5 people. Several private rooms are available for events, the large one required $1500 min expenses before tax & tip.
Going to make this one quick and simple. Service was okay (took some time to flag servers down) and the ambiance was great along with the decor. We ordered the String Beans, Array 36 Signature Roast Duck, Crispy Shrimp, and Lotus Appetizer. To sum it up, everything was okay or mediocre given the high price tag of the dishes. The string beans were honestly the best tasting thing to me unfortunately. There are many better Chinese restaurants in the SGV if you're looking for authentic delicious flavors.
This is my 2nd time here & both times, Hubby & I got to sit in the private room to dine with family & friends. Ambiance is nice, clean, & modern. This place is meant for larger groups to come & share family style food. Our recent visit here was last weekend to celebrate his friend's wedding banquet. We got the pleasure of trying so many different dishes. Wish I had the chance of capturing photos of every single dish we had but unfortunately, didn't get to. However, my experience here was wonderful. Every dish was presented beautifully & most dishes were seasoned well & not salty. My favorite was the smoked duck. The duck show is the crowd pleaser. Service was good.
The Pekin duck was my signature dish with the pancakes and side dishes all combined gives you that juicy wrapped chinese burrito taste The truffle sliced chicken was my other favorite dish. The sliced beef with daikon soup was delicious, flavorful and tender beef flavor. The soup was delicious Other dishes were ok, but the portion was kind of small comparing to other restaurant sizes . We ordered a set lunch of $98 that came with other vegetables dishes and dessert . Believes the size will probably feed 4 people. We were 6 in a party, so it was kinda small and not enough to fill our stomach. As for the inside it looks pretty awesome aesthetic and fancy feel. Service was just meh, I had to keep asking for the server to refill the tea because it was small and we drank a lot of water. Overall, it's worth trying for the first time if you haven't lol
Perfect place to come with friends or family if you want to share dishes family-style. I've been here with friends and reserved the private rooms and I've also come several times with family. I love the dark ambiance and the overall vibe inside! There's free parking right in front of the restaurant and all throughout the plaza. The service is also great. Staff are always fast, attentive, friendly, and the food comes out pretty quick even when it's busy. Peking duck will usually be quoted a 45 minute wait but time passes by quickly while you enjoy your other dishes! My favorite go-to's are the yuzu jellyfish and the truffle chicken. Honestly I could come here just for those two dishes with a bowl of rice and be completely satisfied. The Peking duck is amazing and I love that it comes with brown sugar on the side. Super worth right now because they're doing a BOGO on the Peking duck (you just can't use the free coupon on a weekend, only weekdays).
Nice and clean Chinese restaurant with modern decor. The interior is nicely done with a classy look. Customer service is great. Everyone was super nice and attentive. They were happy to recommend and they do not rush you. Food wise - we ordered the Phoenix Flaming Peking Duck, we also ordered a bunch of different items like the Buddha jumps over the wall ( abalone soup ), Sous-Vide Szechuan Beef short ribs, the whole fried sweet & sour fish, Dan Dan noodles, snow peas vegetables, & Yangzhou fried rice. All dishes were amazing. It tasted very authentic high end Chinese food. The Peking Duck was served table side and some parts of it was served smoked. They do not serve hard liquor but they have beer and house wine. They do not have a nice wine list though - just the house wine by the glass and a maybe 6 bottles of thousands of dollars per bottle selection. I suggest bring your own bottle - corkage is $20. Expect to spend here. With tip for a party of 4 was close to $650. I definitely recommend this place. Call for reservations.

A very nice addition to the mid-up scale Chinese food scene in SGV! Made a reservation weeks before, wasn't full house that night but even so because of the restaurant layout the tables are set far apart, providing a sort of private environment, suitable for family gathering. Ordered a variety of dishes, the most impressive one had to be the Peking Duck, not really the taste (it's good not excellent) but the whole performance they put together with fire up that literally made everyone wow! The sautéed eel in special sauce was another good one, pretty authentic, nice pairing with rice. Crispy prawn in plum sauce had a sweet flavor to it and my parents liked that a lot. All other dessert dishes were above average too. I will definitely go back again with my family or friends in the future! read more

First off, this place isn't as bad as many reviews made it out to be haha. I was a bit scared at first but it turned out pretty good! My sis and I made reservations and the only weird thing was when we arrived, they were like we don't open until 12pm when our reservations were at 11:30am... but after that hiccup, it was good! We ordered the following: blueberry jelly-infused yam-a cute appetizer, a light little early dessert hot and sour fish with golden broth- this one is spicy haha but it was good! The fish was so so soft and smooth omg braised pork with quail eggs- one of my favorites. Very tender pork roast duck- the presentation is amazing and wonderful duck. However a bit disappointed they don't give you the rest of the duck to go, like the bones and such. It would have been great for porridge haha crispy prawns in plum sauce- crispy and better than Bistro Ana's braised pork and vegetable rice-one of my favorites. This place reminds me of Chang An in Tustin and Ji Rong Rosemead. During their grand opening promotional period, you can purchase the signature roasted Peking duck for $39; however, there's no flaming duck" presentation show-simply two plates of duck meat and the condiments (cucumber, sugar, onions, etc). We ordered the promotional pecking duck (who cares about the flame and show), jellyfish, and fish soup - all recommended items on yelp. Peking Duck - the presentation was not as enticing as Chang-An but definitely more "higher end" than Ji Rong. The duck skin was a bit thicker than Chang An so it was a bit more oily-or at least I can taste it. I preferred the duck skin thinner and crispier-personal preference. Besides the skin, it was decent. Soup - if you like szechuan style, you'll love this soup. It is a yellow broth with mustard greens and fish. I didn't like the taste as much because I was not a fan of this numbing and citrusy after taste. The fish was cooked to perfection. I just don't like the lingering aftertaste....insure if I would order it again. Jellyfish - it comes in this yuzu/soy sauce with tomatoes and cucumbers. This was my favorite and I'd definitely order it again-such a good side or appetizer dish. As for service-everyone here primarily speaks Chinese/Cantonese so it will take some time for them to find a waiter that speaks somewhat English. When I ordered, I just showed them pictures of Yelp and they confirmed it. Good food. Decent service. Worth a try, but overpriced. Ambiance is very dark and fancy, as it does make you feel like you're in a five star restaurant. Ordered the duck special where you get the duck (without the smoke show) at a discount if you order at least $69 worth of food (very easy to do). Also ordered the beef rib (?) which was very tender and cooked perfectly and came with some nice dipping sauces. I'm not sure if it was worth $88 though. The decor gives a very upscale vibe with dark moody lighting, artwork and waterfalls. The Peking duck lives up to the hype with the fire table side. The lobster with ginger and scallion was delicious and a favorite among the table. The chicken clay pot had wonderful flavor, however the chicken was cut where we were having difficulty bc we would get shards of bone. The service was a bit unorganized. Dishes weren't paced out properly so we kept running out of table space and then the last dish came out so much later we nearly forgot it was coming. We weren't offered to look at the dessert menu and after nearly 40 minutes of being done eating, we had to flag a waitstaff member down to request the pricey check. We ordered a room for 10 people on Wednesday night. Parking was no issue. We weren't all fully seated yet and they came around with the warm towels. Only half of us got it actually warm. About the food. [Smoked Pine Pork] 5/5. We all liked it and would get this again. [Blueberry and Yam Jelly] 3/5. It wasn't bad, we just won't get this again. The flavor wasn't memorable. Definitely try this place if you want the chance to taste authentic Chinese cuisine. The flavors are different than what a lot of people imagine when they think of Chinese food and in the best way. We ordered the pickled fish, the beef, a couple of their chicken dishes, the carmelized shrimp and the fried rice. They were all delicious but my favorite was probably the shrimp. They fry it with the shell on but you barely notice because the crunch of the shell and the carmelization melt as one. All their dishes are presented nicely and cleanly which I appreciate because I think it adds to the dining experience. The restaurant was very busy when we came but the servers remembered everything we asked for. The place itself is very nice and reflective of it being a fine dining place. I liked the little touches of detail like the modern art pieces near the booths of the birds on wood, the plants, the projector scenes, etc. Most importantly, order the dessert! Pickled fish & yuzu jellyfish & pork with mountain yams were our favorites. The house signature prawns were delicious. I'm not a fan of braised pork in general, but everybody at our table raved about it. This was our first time eating at Array 36, and the experience couldn't have been better. We ordered the garlic green beans, flaming Peking duck, Shanghai shrimp, and Yang Chow fried rice. Everything was delicious and flavorful. We were also well taken care of - staff was very accommodating to our special requests. As many have already noted, the atmosphere is tranquil and upscale. It was a perfect way to celebrate a pre-Thanksgiving meal with my mom. read more
The ambiance is very lovely walking in for a fine dining Chinese restaurant. The lovely waterfall feel and small mountain islands with mists upon opening the intricate doors is a nice touch. They made the most out of space by spiraling the tables alongside each other. The lighting feels fancy as well. Before I tried this place, my friends did warn me about the lack of service/bad service where it's not quite like American service so that's fine and expected. Our service was actually pretty exceptional and our waitress gave us a lot of attention due to the 1.5 hr wait for the duck. We did hear the table next to us complain about the lack of service. When it comes to food, there were a few amazing dishes that got my hopes up from the bat like the yuzu jellyfish. I did go heavy on ordering lots of Shanghai dishes since I was born there and lived there. The braised pork was very tender and nice and the eel was perfection. The plum crispy shrimp had good interesting flavor, but the crisp wasn't perfect and we got this from the duck as well where they didn't give it a chance to crisp up and it ended up being oily instead. The wraps for the duck were very soggy, the duck sauce was not my favorite, and the portion is tiny for the price and wait. The squab flavor was not bad, but very dry compared to other restaurants in the area. The 蟹粉小笼包 did not use real crab meal and had a weird five spices taste to cover that up. The 生煎包 is so unauthentic it's a joke, just go to Kang Kangs. The lotus root is overly cooked and too soft but the osmanthus sauce is ok. The blueberry yams, yogurt bunny mousse are cute but not worth the price. Overall, the ambiance and service are highlights while the food was hit or miss. Not worth the price point for us and we don't see ourselves coming back. read more

My aunt treated us to this meal at the upscale Chinese restaurant, Array 36. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by their beautiful decor and spacious seating. We sat down at the comfy booths and proceeded to order. My aunt ordered their House Special Duck, which they are currently having a special right now of buy one get one free for $98. You will get one duck now and you will you will receive a coupon to come back to get the other duck for free. It comes with all the condiments and the thin crêpe wrap. Their duck was flavorful and their wrap was light and delicate. We also ordered their fish in mustard green soup (which had Szechuan peppercorns for that bit of numbing flavor). it was a little salty for my taste but still good. We got their house special crispy shrimp, which was delicious and a must get. We also got their snow pea shoots with garlic, braise pork, Dan Dan Noodles, and house Noodles. Made this reservation for lunch to try their unique Peking/Roast Duck. An absolute must try! The skin is extremely crispy and has a crunch to every bite, and there is also plenty of meat included as well. The servers were attentive and came by to refill our waters and change our plates multiple times throughout our meal. We went as a party of three to dine here for a Sunday lunch. Stepping inside, the ambiance was definitely nice and felt upscale but everything went downhill from there. 1. The food we ordered took a while to come out especially something like string beans which didn't come out until the end. We also ordered the duck which was eh and the xiao long bao. Most of our dishes came out lukewarm? Not like it was freshly made but just sat in the kitchen for a while when they finally decided to drop it off, it wasn't hot anymore. The good were: crispy prawns, jellyfish dish, and braised pork. The I've had better: the duck, string beans. The bad: scallops tartare, xiao long bao, crab sauce with noodles. We also ordered a bamboo soup which was ... just okay if you're hungry. The service: for an expensive "upscale" restaurant, the service is absolutely terrible. The soup came out without any bowls or spoons? Just a ladle? Are we suppose to use the ladle as a bowl and share that amongst everyone? The servers took forever to flag down to get refills on tea. Empty dishes were just accumulating and there were no space for new dishes yet no servers made the move to remove the empty dishes. They just kept trying to make room for new dishes?! So we had to try to ask them to remove empty dishes but they were all pretty much avoiding eye contact. The other groups around us were complaining about the lack of service. The bathroom: I think the women's bathroom has a one broken bathroom stall so someone was standing outside trying to guard their kid. The soap dispenser was broken... just an eh experience for a supposedly upscale restaurant. So while this wasn't what I was expecting for how much everything costs, +1 star for some good food (i.e. jellyfish). The ending bill was about 400 dollars. Would I recommend this place or come back? 2nd visit to Array 36. The ambiance is unparalleled and service again is on point. This time I had lunch with my friend and basically it's the exactly same menu/price as the dinner items. Do we have to preorder the duck in advance? I called and the person said it might not always be available in the main dining room?

The restaurant accommodates large parties The portion sizes of dishes are probably for medium (6) to large (10) parties usually. My question is, can a small party of 2 still order a variety of dishes with portions tailored to small parties (2)?
We use a menu that is either High Tea or Champagne Brunch. The High Tea menu is designed as little sample bites that taste good together.
Do I need to make a reservation before I come? Cause no one pick up the phone calls
Since soft opening I guess need make reservations
Do you open for lunch , and the business hours?
