First order had too much salt, threw it out, ordered again w/o salt. $6.95 for the salmon buger, $2.25 for the fries. About a handful of sweet potato fries. Small portion size for fries. Salmon burger s/w looked funny, big bun small patty. Looked like something they bought frozen and not something they made. I assumed they made it like their BBQ meat. Salmon smelled fishy, was a preprocessed patty shaped in a mechanically formed circular patty. Advertised as a wild salmon burger, not sure if the quality of the fish was really there. patty had very little salmon flavor; looked like there was some filler in there, dull orange color. Salmon burger on ciabatta roll with tomato, onion and cabbage. Didn't finish it, threw it out. Their bbq is better. should have known to not order fish. If I could give zero stars I would. The food was old and disgusting. None of the meat we got looked fresh. I got a chicken sandwich which looked like the chicken has been sitting out all day. My sister got the tritip which looked dry and old. My daughter got a grilled cheese in which the cheese wasn't even melted. My sisTer and nephew both got burgers and the meat was burnt to a crisp and one of the burgers barely fit on the bread. It was more bread then meat. It was just a horrible experience. I feel like I got food poisoning because within an hour of leaving my stomach started hurting really bad and it has not stopped since a couple hours ago. I'm at a loss of how down hill this place has gone. We will not be returning ever again. read more

Armadillo Willy's does a very good job of delivering consistently good "que" regardless of the location. I've been to the locations in Foster City, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale. And, they all serve it right. They offer two brisket options, lean and juicy, and the ribs are good as well. The sides selections can't be beat by others in terms of quality and variety. My only issue is that they don't serve collard greens. The decor is simple but inviting. There are enough TV's to watch soccer, baseball, football, etc. So, what' not to like? read more

This was a quick stop and eat. The food was very tasty and the smell was great. I got the half chicken that was not bad but just a touch of smoke taste but I like a lot more smoke flavor. Two people got the brisket which was awesome tasting and pulled apart nicely. But too much fat, as for lien next time. Overall good experience and would recommend it. Unfortunately for me "Perla" answered the phone. Perla explained it was my fault for ordering wrong, and there's nothing they will do - too bad. She asked *me* if I wanted to talk to the manager. I declined as why would I do that? Armadillo Willy's at Bridgepoint taught me to cancel all future catering and warn others away all for the low low cost of one of their burgers. Excellent food, my family and I have been coming here for years. Our favorite dish is the Texas Trinity with Texas ribs, juicy brisket, and pulled pork with a side of potato salad and beans. You can never go wrong with this meal. Service has always been superior to other restaurants, which is one of the main reasons why we keep coming back. However, to my surprise, I came in late last week and was very unsatisfied with the service. A young lady by the name of Alma took my order and the whole time she was on her phone and made very minimal eye contact. She was very rude and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. Another customer came in to pick up their order and she gave them a dirty look and told them to sit down because there were other people in line. I, overhearing this whole conversation, decided to sympathize with Alma as she was probably just having a bad day. But then I overheard her say, "If one more f****** person tests me today, I'm coming straight for their throat." I was completely and utterly APPALLED. Never in my life have I heard someone speak of another individual in this manner, especially in the work place. I am very disappointed in my recent experience at Armadillo Willy's and because of this, I will no longer be dining here. I used to love eating here. The food was fresh and tasty. Now it's just aight. The fries used to be spectacular but now they just aight. The meat was amazing now just aight. The portions used to be generous, now it just enough. I know that they haven't served milkshakes for a long time but they used to be some of the best. I think they used to make fresh ranch, the last time I'm pretty sure it was premade stuff. The overall quality of their food just seems to have gone down. The lighting is so harsh in there now, they really should swap out the bulbs they are using. Their hours are incredibly sporadic, went there a few times over the past few months just to find they were closed and that the hours on their sign was different from the hours posted on google/Yelp. Idk maybe covid hit them hard I really hope they get it together. Service is still decent though never had any issues. read more

This review is mainly for their CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP. OMG.. it is seriously the best I've ever had! The chicken is super tender and its not too salty either. The only downside is that it's quite expensive for the amount they give you. Their cup is 3.99 while their bowl is 6.99... I would have to spend $21 (three bowls) in order to be full off of their soup since I'm not a big fan of bbq and burgers. read more

The hamburger was from a frozen patty, did not come with the cheese and was made mostly made of onions. the tots were soggy. This was a big disappointment. But Armadillo Willy's take on brisket, tri-tip, ribs, & smoked chicken is worthy in its own right... whatever that means. We placed our order for pick up, apon arriving at the store two employees were aruguing about something, you could here this in the dinning room. Our food, the once great sauce is bland no taste at all only tomato sauce they didnt cook enough to get the raw taste to blend with the other spices if there any. They sides are more hispanic than Southern American, no bbq beans. The two meats, pork ribs and chicken had no depth of smoke flavor only on the surface, poor effort. A restaurant with integrity and amazing food! My pregnant ass wanted BBQ, so I ordered Armadillo Willy's over door dash. Door Dash, as door dash is wont to do, messed up my order royally, including ingredients that pregnant woman aren't allowed to eat. I cried a bunch, because apparently that's my life now, because they were closing soon, and all I wanted was the amazing food I've come to expect from Armadillo Willy's. My mom was more productive, and called them, told them the situation, and they went above and beyond to make things right, even though the fault wasn't with them. I was already loyal to them because they're the only place nearby that smokes meat worth a damn. But after today, I'm loyal to them because they're amazing people too. Oh, the food. Was driving down El Camino Real trying to decide what to get for lunch. Remembering I had been here once before, and that I had wanted to give it another try, I stopped in at 1230ish. There was one other person ahead of me in line, so the wait was short. Ordered a Texas Plate and an extra meat side. Came up to just a hair over $30, so it's not cheap eats, but it's not insanely expensive either. The sodas are self serve, along with the flatware. The wait time for the food was about 7 min or so. You could taste the smoke flavoring in the pulled pork, but beyond that, not a whole lot of flavor. The barbecue sauce is sweet, slightly tangy, but not something to write home about. You wouldn't add this place to your list of places to eat if visiting the area, if that makes sense. read more

I was in the mood for some BBQ and this happens to be across from my gym so felt I should check it out. First..... Unlike many restaurants that claim BBQ or smoked food this place is legit. By that I mean they actually have smokers to cook their food and not just baking and adding liquid smoke. Simple you order your food and sit down and wait for your buzzer to go off. Efficient and easy. No fuss with a waiter or anything so a plus to them. They have the basic flair of BBQ food... Ribs, pork, brisket, etc. Being indecisive i got the Texas trinity: ribs, brisket, and sausage. I never knew sausage was one.. But I'll talk about that later. Price wise.... A bit higher than I expected. You get ALOT of food (and take out trays are readily available and you will need it). But that was perhaps due to my trinity costing more than normal or "small" BBQ plates (which run around 7-10 bucks). The food. I love BBQ I love smoking BBQ and I of course love eating it. I have had Texas BBQ and this stuff was pretty good (especially being in Sunnyvale). PPP on your sauce and your ready to eat. The ribs and sausages were great. I was shocked when I saw sausages thinking the trinity would be chicken... But after a few I was happy they had sausages. So good. The brisket... You can order in either juicy or lean or a mixture. When I first got it I was disappointed to see fat on the brisket. That is the "juicy" style and it's supposed to have fat on it. Consider it the butter in the meat. Personally j would never order it juicy after having it once... Great flavor but I felt my arteries crying in pain. Luckily there was enough food that I could not eat it and still be full. But to be honest I ate the brisket as well. I did order it as a "mix" so was expecting both juicy and not so juicy.... But fat. This shows you how pitiful my life is... this is the first time in a lonnnnng time that I got out of work and it was still daylight. I thought, "You know it's MONDAY!" For quite some time I've wanted to check out the all-the-ribs-you-can-eat Monday special at Armadillo Willy's. I had some reading to do for a paper I was writing, so I moseyed on over (can you tell there was a Bonanza marathon on TVLand this week?) to Aramadillo Willy's and ordered up. Here's the scoop, 20 bucks buys you two sides, a piece of toast and all the ribs you can eat. How many ribs did I eat? C'mon now! Ok, seven. Only SEVEN?! Well, they were big ole meaty ribs, with sauce on the side. I had cowboy beans and a green salad for a side. Having paid $8 buck for six slennnnnder ribs at Chiles and thinking that was pretty good, I was in hog-heaven gnoshing on these puppies! They stamp your hand when you sign up and all you have to do is go up to the kitchen and say, "Hand me over some more of those delicious ribs!" You can even watch baseball while you are waiting. (Puerto Rico versus Venezuela tonight) OH yeah! Fat be damned, I got barbecue sauce all over my research papers and down my face. But hoooo-doggie, it was wonnnnderful. Barbecue in the Bay Area is never as good as what you can get in Texas for half the price. Even so, Armadillo Willy's is the best local option for cheap, especially now that Austin's BBQ is gone. Highlights: -Counter service (No tipping! there's $2 I get to keep!) -Sandwiches are good but not amazing (GBNA). The sauce is good, the meat had fat on the edges (though less so than other Armadillo Willy's) so I did some necessary "surgery." But it's missing a certain "wow" factor. -Texas-sized cookie pie is huge and good but really not needed after a filling meal. -This location is really attuned to customer service and the tables are kept clean - even during the Lunch Rush. He told me that ribs he served me were yesterday's ribs and that he would get me some of today's ribs that were much better. When I ordered no one asked me if I wanted yesterday's or today's ribs. If you have a driver, get a 23oz glass of beer. Always bring out of town family to here. Ever go to one of those SV coffee shops and ask for a cookie and the staff refuses to give you the cookie because they have 9 reasons for you to buy the cookie that just came straight out the oven? The whole coffee shop clientele is hotbed of pseudo intellectualism. Armadillo Willy's is a refreshing breath of a culture different from Silicon Valley. Friendly staff with no promises of being vegan or overly thought out or stuff like that. Great burgers, tri tip, pulled pork, baked beans with MEAT. Kid friendly food. Great spot off El Camino to kick up your boots, or Uggs and have a smoky salacious taste of Texas BBQ. The smoked turkey breast, variety of bacon, seasoned fries, and warm, house-made corn muffins with honey butter were awesome. The staff keep you smiling and the country music is a dose of western nostalgia that will have you two steppin' through the afternoon. Big dining area of picnic style tables and a handful of flat screens make this place great for a group or team function. They also do catering or large volume take out, so keep them in mind for a holiday party or easy feed during a weekend gathering. Parking is ample and shares a parking lot with Sport's Authority, Ross, and Sprout's Market. I was impressed by the friendly welcome, frequent laughter and generally upbeat mood of the front staff.
