I have to say, I absolutely love the food at this place. The servers are always very kind and willing to explain things and answer any questions I have. The portions are quite large--definitely more than I can usually finish--which I'm guessing is why the prices run a bit higher. I do wish they offered a kids' size or smaller portion option. My daughter adores their pupusas, and honestly, I think they're the best in the area. An El Salvadoran restaurant/Mexican restaurant which doesn't look like much from the outside, but let me tell you I had the best asada burrito and chicken tortilla soup from a restaurant ever!!! The chicken tortilla soup broth was authentic with little pieces of guallilo chilis in it. There wasn't much chicken to speak of, but they put little pieces of avocado, cheese and fresh fried tortilla strips. The burrito had just the right proportion of beans, rice, and meat and the flavor was excellent. It didn't need much added salsa, but we were given red and green salsa. I was visiting my mother-in-law who had just had surgery, so I got my order to go and was in a hurry and didn't get any pictures. There is a counter to order for to go or you can sit at one of their tables inside or in their outer patio. One star is the lowest I can give. The food is not bad and it is even tasty until you are met with the almost lack of service from the personnel! I ordered three plates to go: quesadilla, enchiladas, and a plate of carne asada wich comes with tortillas. I waited for about 15-20 minutes until I was called. The cashier handed me the bag; I asked her for extra salsa, which she seems upset but brought two salsas and literally just dropped them inside the bag. I thanked her and left. When I got home, carne asada plate was missing. I called, the person who answered apologized and offered to bring it to me which I said I would just go and get it. When I got there, the cashier, the cook, and the guy who answered the phone were there. The cook lady went off telling me and repeating quite loud "it is your fault, you left it" I replied, please rewind the camera and check, I was only given one bag. The cook lady kept repeating the same line over and over, at that moment I just grabbed my bag and left. When I got home, I found out the tortillas were missing too. I called again, the same guy answered, and try to switch it as it was my fault while interrupting me and not letting me talk. He finally agreed to have a manager called me after he stop talking and listened my complain. As of this moment no manager has called me. What could they improve? Someone give them a course of customer service. Look at the previous reviews, most of the bad yelp review are because of poor customer service. read more

I've been robbed: I ordered 100$ worth of food via DoorDash! The dasher arrived with two horchatas, 1 flan and 1 huevos divorciados. We were missing the two pastor and two asada tacos, 1 pupusa and my quesadillas Gus from the order. The driver, handed me one bag and little bag attached w drinks .... I said this isn't everything-there should be more. She said I had to contact DoorDash or the store. 1. I submitted through doordash and they only offered 21$ refund, I opened a case, left 3 chats and called twice waiting for a manger to call me 2. I contacted the store, they said the order was picked up, no help offered, apology or replacement of food. The missing food is 42.90, paying 99$ for everything and only getting 21$ refunded with no help from DoorDash, the driver or the restaurant is not a great customer experience! read more

I recently stopped by for Burito Mojado, so I ordered it to try. Based on the pictures people posted, I thought it was more of an appetizer-sized item. Still, it turned out to be a full-meal-size item, so there are my hands for comparison in the photos!. I would prefer and recommend their Caldo da res as well. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I got 3 tacos (2.99 each) with cabeza, Suadero (brisket), and al pastor. For about $9.50 it was definitely way more than tacos I get in LA. Overall, the meats were cooked to a great texture. The flavor of the suadero was the best of the three. Cabeza didn't have much flavor, pastor had some pieces that were charred. My favorite thing was seeing a big bucket of masa next to the plancha. I hate it when places don't use fresh corn tortillas so this is a huge plus for me knowing that I'm getting handmade tortillas with my tacos. Overall, happy they have some meats that are not served at a lot of locations (suadero especially) and the use of freshly made tortillas. read more

If you're in the mood for some good Salvadorian or Mexican food, this is the best spot in Mountain View for that. I've been here many times for the pupusa and it's my go to spot! I've only really come here for the Salvadoran pupusa since there are so many options here for Mexican food. I love ordering the variety of different flavoured pupusas. I order the pork, pork and bean, bean and cheese and bean. They are served with curt ado, which is a pickled type of cabbage with carrots you spread on top with some salsa. The pupusas are freshly made which you can see being hand made in the kitchen that is open for all to see. The pupusas come out hot and not greasy! Tonight we tried the tacos, the tacos were small street sized and not greasy. The tacos were full of flavour and just a perfect size for snack or ordering multiple! The location has plenty of parking in a lot which surrounds the restaurant. The restaurant accepts cash and credit cards, just during tonight's visit the place was cash only since machine was down for a few days. There is an ATM inside the restaurant if you need cash. Shrimp Cocktail literally the saddest meal I've ever ate. It's just shrimp juice tiny bit of cilantro and 3 individual thin strips of avocado. No onions, no tomato, no cucumber it was truly sad. I never thought someplace could mess up this order so badly but they succeed. I also got a taco to go of carne asada, the tortilla was cold, meat had barely any flavor, it was dry and the taco didn't come with any salsa. Super disappointing meal overall. I was so excited to try another Taqueria especially since my friend told me they really liked Chalateco. I could not have been more disappointed. The service was the worst. When I ordered my burrito to go I got attitude. My friend and I were ordering our food separately but they still put our food in the same bag and only gave us one green and one red salsa. When I asked for one more of each I get the eye roll. It took another four minutes for her to get us the extra two. This place is way over priced and lacks flavor. The carne Assad lacked flavor, it was as if it wasn't seasoned at all. The burrito comes with sour cream, lettuce, cheese, rice, beans, cilantro, salsa, and onion. Came here to try papusas for the first time. The restaurant is inconspicuous and I heard it used to be a Taco Bell. The menus have a lot in them. I ordered the horchata, cheese and shrimp papusa, and potato chorizo papusa. It came with a sauce, chips and salsa, and a side of cabbage slaw. The papusas are really delicious and very filling. I barely finished two. The horchata was also really tasty. The service was decent. This isn't a fancy place.
